Turn up the fuel to max with good idle (idle as low as possible ofcorse) and sidepipe 2,5” then you could maybe get back 10-15hp... and for the ultimate d24 experience, remove the bumpstops and springs, 18-19” wheels with 215/35-25-18/19, low rpm’s on full throttle and 2 throttle blip’s inbetween the granny shifts... then you can feel like you’re in the deep wood’s of Värmland, sweden.
Guide to the ultimate D24 experience: You'll need: 1: Screwdriver (flat head) 2: 13mm socket (Socket wrench also makes it easier) 3: Ratchet straps (or something that can take a lot of tension) 4: 18" MK18 rims 5: 2.5" or 3" sidepipe (Go with hoodpipe if you wanna go ultimate Swedish hillbilly) 6: Angle grinder 7: Welding equipment (ambition and a will to learn is more important than experience) And... that's about it. Links to social media (Stickers), low and solid sun strip on the top and big text (usually name or motto of some sorts) on the bottom of the windshield. Now, on to the How-to-D24 Guide Take the screwdriver. On the driver's side, there is a screw (flat head) that you can turn. Bötta that shit. Turn it as low as possible. That's the idle, now onto the flow of fuel. For the fuel, you will now need the 13mm socket to take out the lock bolt on the screw itself so that you can screw in the screw as far as possible for maximum flow of fuel. The fatter (richer) the engine runs, the more coal you're going to roll. And trust me, you're going Kööla a lot. Kööla is a slang and means "to roll coal" in Swedish. Now that you have set both idle and fuel, you are ready to "bötta" the car itself. How do you do that? Well, you can either use an angle grinder to cut the springs on the suspension, or you can use the ratchet straps, attach one end to the springs and the other to a tree and floor it. Now that the car is so low that you can't fit your shoe under it, let's do something about that boring exhaust system. All you need to do is to take the angle grinder and remove the entire exhaust and go buy yourself a 2.5" or 3" side pipe. exhaust or make a makeshift hoodpipe. To do the former, it's quite basic, so I won't describe how to do it. For the latter, you can either just cut a big, fat hole in the hood and have the exhaust go out like that, or you can be clever about it and just have a small bit of the actual exhaust stick up above the hood itself and then make a bigger pipe above that that is attached to the hood itself. Otherwise you won't be able to open the hood. This will have to be directed either straight up or to the passenger side cuz you'll be rolling so much coal that you don't want that against the driver side of the car. You won't see anything. The wheels are quite basica as well, but if you want the *ULTIMÄTT DÄSCHUFYRA ÄXPERIENS* you want to go with 18" MK18 rims. Stretching sidewalls are a must (even though I'm not a big fan of it). That's basically it.

these engines were from VW/Audi and great for economy and longevity never any issues for cold starting and i sold these new/used and were sought after by many people, I live and work in Winnipeg and use to sell at the local dealer here in the 80's, 40 mpg all day any day at the speed limit and had the volvo fantastic heat in the winter time and glow plugs were easy to change if needed, they had to belts one cam belt in the front and the back one ran your pump, this is a zero tolerance motor if the cam belt goes your motor , you will have piston slap for sure, i have seen it many times by owners who ignored the maintenance schedule, a great car for sure, if your pump is in good shape you may get more HP ,not much usually,I still drive 240's to this day which is almost 40 yrs and still one of the best cars ever built, I remember a customer of the dealership who bought a new 1986 760 GLE turbo diesel with the manual transmission the 4 speed overdrive in those days in the spring that year and Vancouver Canada hosted EXPO that year also, this car had a saddle style fuel tank in it that went over the driveshaft and held 70 or 80 litres and drove it to Expo that summer and could not believe the economy they got, that engine was 127 bhp BRAKE HORSEPOWER, and 203 for pounds of torque, from Winnipeg almost to Medicine Hat Alta on a tank of diesel and great in the rockies through BC, so much torque at low rpms
Honestly you should turbo it you would see a huge improvement. Put a redblock turbo on it just gotta do some custom exhaust work to make a remote turbo mount
I remember I had one of these back in the late 1980s. Is Samuel L Turbson a gas vehicle? More boost and misfiring earlier would make me think blowing spark more than fuel. You might want to gap your plugs tighter before you throw a pump in. Usually if you're lean it'll just detonate and blow up or run fairly normally until it detonates and blows up. Ring lands failing, pitted pistons, bent or broken rods and what not. D24 turn fuel into sound. You should brought my D24T up to canadia for sideways ;)
There's one for sale close to me. I'm really tempted to buy it just because
that's what we in sweden call ''gör gött''
Didn't know rear power windows was even optional for the 2 series.
Добрый день . I have such a car In a 24 - box M46 ( 5 gear on the Overdrive button ) of 1983 , I leave only on a sunny day to prolong the life of the Volvo .
Mikhail Stalingrad.
You could get 240 also with a D20 inline 5. That had only 69hp. Those are rare cars.
It’s the same year and rust as my 240. Also it looks like this would benefit from the toggle switch over drive mod so he can split gears.
They did make them with an automatic; my mom had one... 0-60 in 4.2...minutes.
That moment when i realise that u're the same dude from the drift 940 video. Nice bruhh
D24 stands for diesel 2,4 liter
Never felt so cool while going so freaking slow!
Keep it stock lovely old plodder
i have d24 turbo with intercooler on my 940, this thing rips
Around here u see alot of turbo d24s, usually with hood pipe/sidepipe and cat deletes
Here in Sweden back in the Days 90s. Everywhere.
I litterally commented on ur last vid that i wanted to see this
I WANT THIS THING TUNED
The volvo 240/740/940 front u got over there we all want here in sweden
What do you got in sweden?
Wait 30mpg is your guess!? My gas 240 gets 29/30 cruising at 75 this should be way better lol
I don't know how familiar you guys are with the Volve diesels but there's some modded versions that I've seen online some wagons that are beast mode just takes a lot of money and a lot of work that 240 could be something special.
That's of course if it's gas. Idk which car You're talking about
Any good reason you didn't have seatbelts on while driving? I drive alot and I have never had a solid reason to not wear one.
i never have own a old volvo just driving new volvos
And it will not roal as mutch coal as the turbo dose
80 horsepower is normal here in Ireland, it may seem like fuck all to Americans and Canadians but that’s enough to get you about, I’d daily drive one
You can take that enigne out and take it in the 740 and you can do a turbo on it and you have a chance to get the 740 be cooler
Fix the pump and it will roal coal but its slow as hell
“Do you want to be my grandson??”
- “Do I get free volvo cars??” Lmaooo
