- Sandi Toksvig OBE is a Danish-born comedian, broadcaster and writer. She spent her formative years travelling the world with her family, thanks to her father’s job as a foreign correspondent. Sandi has had a long and successful career in UK radio and television, which began in the eighties on kids TV. She is best known for presenting QI, taking over from Stephen Fry in 2016. She subsequently spent three years co-presenting The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding and Prue Leith. Sandi is a political activist and is one of the co-founders of the Women’s Equality Party. She has written more than 20 books and is here to talk about her latest novel, Friends of Dorothy.
Sandi occasionally enjoys a drink, but today Nick pours a Days 0.0% alcohol free lager, while Angela prepares her favourite, roast duck legs with grapes. The experts at Waitrose suggest a Sorcova pinot noir, our first Romanian wine-pairing.
This episode of Dish is as charming, witty and warm as Sandi Toksvig herself. She tells Nick and Angela about Danish culinary traditions, shares her (controversial) thoughts on cake and explains why she can often be found in a forest with a chainsaw.

We can’t all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help.
Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she’ll try to answer in a future episode.

Sandi taking Angela's hand in appreciation as she serves the food warmed my heart. lovely gesture :)
I've rewatched that moment several times. I was so stuck by that. Joyous!

Sandi Toksvig is the one person I wish I could meet. She’s so inquisitive and funny and just a friendly font of of information, anecdotes , wit and humor. Also a person of integrity which is so rare these days. .
She’s an absolute gem! Been in QI audience twice and can confirm she is utterly fabulous, funny and captivating! ❤❤❤
Sandi Toksvig is always a delight to watch or listen to. Such an interesting, dynamic, inspirational person! And to have her on this wonderful podcast... fabulous! ❤
I grew up in a highly intelligent household and my Mom did exactly the same thing, she would talk to us as adults or as I like to say equal to equal. And looking back that was such a wise decision. She would also explain and describe things in great detail, tell stories of the past and basically we talked all the time and discussed basically any subject! When I was very young, she told me bedtime stories and fairy tales that her Dad used to tell her. I absolutely love my Mom, she is the greatest person I have ever met in this world
So sweet, love this ❤️
I like that Angela cleans/tidies her own plate for presentation. Presentation built into the maker🥰😊
What an absolutely charming and witty guest! Loved this episode
Only just come across this channel. Came for Sandi and stayed for the show now. Sandi has the most perfect comedy timing, it's unreal. Such a genuine woman and can feel that come across.
Another A+ dish and chat! And Sandi Toksvig!! Will be back to watch this one again when a day is a little sad or gray.
Sandi's book Hitler's Canary is what got me into reading as a kid. I can't describe just how good of a time my entire class had reading the book with our fantastic English teacher.
It's so fun watching a great episode and seeing the viewcount rise, so you know you're sharing the experience with strangers who enjoy it as much as you!
This is my FAV entertainment across any and all channels. You two and your guests are a real joy and I get so much out of it being in America. I'm eating new things and watching Line of Duty. LOL Cheers!

Community is important & powerful - it’s why bad people cause division & hate - if only we all understood how powerful we are together, as one ❤

Prue Lief is a South African, and most South Africans have lovely stories to tell as we live life to the fullest.
Leith. Having an extended affair with your mother’s best friend’s husband is a lovely story for sure.

There isn't a potato recipe listed with the duck.
You know, I would just love sometime that they roll their eyes at a different religion and see how that goes…
Whoop whoop
My Welsh Great Aunt used to make what Sandi calls egg-cake. I'm struggling to remember what she called it ( NOT Welsh rarebit😂 ). Anyone out there know it?
My favourite Podcast and the question - Favourite Bean? = "Has" Come on sandy you really missed a trick there - But in saying that the setup was far too obvious and whoever suggested that needs their hand held at the next moon landing
❤
