It sounds like the RPMs run lower with the torque converter. If that's true, then it probably isn't necessary to upgrade the valve springs to 18lbs. What do you think?
Curtis. A quick look at a speed calc suggests that with a TC and 40 tooth he was running 3200 RPM at 50 mph. If the bike were left this way there's no need for heavier valve springs. The 3200 RPM is what most get when they install a TC on a Coleman 200 with a mainly stock engine and gearing. Some of us have geared our bikes opposite of what you see here for higher RPM. As an example, I geared my bike for 30 mph and under trail riding with a TC and 9/60 sprockets. Yet, with a near stock 196 governed to 5K RPM I top the bike out on the road at 47 mph. With stock Coleman gearing I would lose at least 5 mph because there's more power (HP) at 4500 rpm+ to drive the load than at 3200 rpm.

Im curious to see the differences when doing a serious hill climb im debating whether to get a cvt torque coverter or just a bigger rear sprocket like a 72 tooth
I think a torque converter would be better for a serious hill climb because the low range and high range ratio changes as RPM increases. Also, Hills would be hard on a clutch.
@@Black66 so a torque converter and a 60 tooth rear sprocket? Heh heh sounds like a plan. I use my bike for scouting and hunting in pretty serious terrain
Hey I’m new to this game but I have a completely stock ct200u-ex and have been wanting to install the torque converter. Can I just buy the converter kit, riser plate, and 5/8 to 3/4 adapter you linked In description and be good to go? Or do I need to get the mikuni and header pipe as well? Thanks and great video sir?
Not sure what type of bike you have or what the drive Sproket clutch sprocket or tire height is but if you drop that ratio down a little it should be faster. For example, if you are running a 12 tooth clutch and a 75 drive sprocket now, and swap the clutch out for a 15 tooth that would get you to a 5 to 1 ratio. Might be a little slower taking off but would get you more top speed.
@@Black66 thank you. My bt200x really needs one then. My ct200u-ex. Is light enough to climb. My bt200x is heavy and needs help. I had my clutch glowing cherry red on my last ride
Kind of new to this, but you mentioned several times about the clutch sprocket, switching from 40 to 35, and then mentioned something about the drive sprocket being 40 or 50T.... ummm isn't the #35 like the pitch and such, and wouldn't you need to chain the chain and rear sprocket to those specs? Or will they work together? Like #35 or 420 or 428? I just thought it all had to be the same "not the number of teeth" obviously.

I bought exactly everything you have and same mini bike I bought the crankshaft adapter and it went on fine with a hammer but when I put the pully that goes on the crankshaft it Dosent wanna go on I greased it up and everything and still can’t get it on please help
Maybe fire it up and run some emery cloth over the shaft . Sometimes they get some burs and high spots on there from pounding it on.
Sweet comparison thanks for doing the comparison video. Since me and friends do more street cruising Ima be going back to jackshaft. Which one felt better for you? Also il be trying to upgrade to a 265 cam from a cl1 for my predator, you think the 18lb springs will reach up to 8000 rpm or will I need 22lb springs?
If you change your cam 22 is the minimum I would use.
@@xaviermccloud4586 ok thanks, I had the jackshaft before with a 38t rear sprocket. Have a predator with 18lb springs billet rod and flywheel with a cl1 cam and 22mm mikuni. did 52mph at 7000 rpm. I want a 265 hoping to get up to 8000 rpm and 55+ mph on my Baja warrior
@@srcobra50 You should be making more top end already. Maybe you need a bigger carb as well? Not sure.
@@xaviermccloud4586 well….I am heavy…about 270…I think the cam just can’t push more than 7000rpm. It’s cl1 cam on it currently
bigger springs would help and a bigger flat slide carb
Where did you get the lifter for the torque converter from?
It is listed in the description
Which motor is that? I'm new to this but my next mini I'm putting a torque converter on.
196, Watch the CT200U-EX, CT200U, and the B200 playlist. They show many different mods to make the bike faster. ua-cam.com/video/9Tk-t17M-ww/v-deo.html
it sounded like it was bogging down for the torque converter runs
Check out the CT200U-EX playlist for more combos with this bike. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
Could you gain 6 mph just by gearing. Change a couple sprocket’s
Yes! Check out the CT200U-EX playlist. We gained performance with many different combos ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
what torque converter kit is this? I've always been a old skewl centrifugal clutch guy.
I have done so many videos it's hard to remember a given part on a given bike at this point. Check out the CT200U-EX playlist for many more videos and combos on this bike. I list a lot of the parts in the description of the videos. ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
My headlight bracket broke at the welds while riding, have you ever had that happen??
No, not yet...
Hey I was wondering I order the same 5/8 to 3/4 adapter and mine is longer than the urs so now it’s hanging about a inch extra from the 5/8 one
Thats ok. As long as the driver goes on its all good. You can always cut the excess off.
Should of put the green spring
This is one of many combos used on this bike. Check out the CT200U-EX playlist. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
Badass bro
When you use the vm22 carburetor, do you need an adapter or does it bolt right on?
Here is a VM22 install video. Also check out the CT200U-EX playlist. ua-cam.com/video/bXRQfwHEPfg/v-deo.html
You should have asked that guy on the motorcycle to raise just joking
I dont think this is accurate. Just because the fact that you have other modifications to the engine. To improve performance.
Used the same exact engine while testing both the jack shaft and torque converter .
Doesn't changing the chain length also impact the torque ratio?
Hey I’m new to this game but I have a completely stock ct200u-ex and have been wanting to install the torque converter. Can I just buy the converter kit, riser plate, and 5/8 to 3/4 adapter you linked In description and be good to go? Or do I need to get the mikuni and header pipe as well? Thanks and great video sir?
Thanks! You can do it without the Mikuni and header pipe
I Have a stock motor and top speed is 35 mph but gear ratio is 6.25 ? what should my gear ratio be to get top speed
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
'Cause tramps like us, baby, we were born to run
Bruce!!
Did you have to use the 5/8 adapter key? Or did the converter have it built in?
After just installing it, it appears to be built in
how to u time the 0-30 i just installed a torque converter on my mini bike nd wanna see the time,i have a speedometer app
I use a Dragy performance meter for 0 to 30
My question is.... Does it climb better with the torque converter?
Yes it does.
@@Black66 thank you. My bt200x really needs one then. My ct200u-ex. Is light enough to climb. My bt200x is heavy and needs help. I had my clutch glowing cherry red on my last ride
Think you can run a short header pipe on that torque converter setup?
Ya, I think so
What did you use for extra chain u bought another one or extra from sprocket
You can buy different lengths from sellers on ebay . I use a chain breaker to splice it together.
Hey boss where did you get your chain breaker
ARC racing. Here is the link www.arcracing.com/3720-arc-35-chain-break/
does the riser let the engine still fit in the frame if you still have the gas tank on it
Yes, Check out the playlist for this bike. It has had many different combos. ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
Is the ct200uex faster with or without the jackshaft. Please advise. Black66
Its faster with a straight chain, but it's not as quick getting up to speed.
@@Black66 thank you, I enjoy watching your video's
@@Black66 what app do you use to check speed, please.

We do many gear ratio changes in the Coleman CT200U-EX playlist.
the link for the Shaft adapter says it is unavailable and most all other adapters say hey dont fit right what do you think i should do

Did the stock gas tank not work with the carburetor?
Yes, the stock tank will work with the VM22
Do you have to use the key for the 5/8 adapter key? Or does the converter have built in key?
Either way. Depending on if you use a Juggernaut driver or a series 30, driver.
Does this bike have the governor removed or just stage 1 ?
Yes, the external governor linkage is removed. All the stock linkage comes off when you install a slide carb.
I need a driveshaft keyway for my hisun 196cc so I can bolt my clutch back on. Any idea what size I need?
Why’d you have to make chain longer
It was a little to short after raising the engine up with the riser mount.
@@Black66 oh ok is that also cause u have a smaller sprocket in the back?
What bolt did you use as the retaining bolt for the crankshaft? My torque converter didn't come with one that works.
It's an M6 bolt. You can grab one at the hardware store.
@@Black66 Thanks!
What size sprocket do you have on the torque converter?
hi, I also fitted the same kit, when I walk 2 km I touch the belt and it overheats why?? yours is the same i.e. does it overheat??? or is it normal??
Hey Buddy, will a hisun 196cc head work on a predator 212cc. Please respond, thank you
Yes, it will

What's the rear sprocket size
I have done close to 400 videos on the channel. It's hard to remember the specs on a given video. Check out the CT200U-EX playlist for many combos and parts on this bike. I have a few videos in the playlist where I swapped the gear ratio on the bike. ua-cam.com/video/jHf9yJmaZLA/v-deo.html
The link to the riser Mount doesn't work anymore, does anyone have a link of something similar?

Found one, thanks. After watching so many videos, you made this process way easier. I just posted another question, hopefully you can answer it
What size is the jackshaft mount bolts
Do you by chance know what bolt size I need to go into the shaft on a predator 212 with doing a torture converter?
Yes, here is the link www.amazon.com/30-Torque-Converter-Mounting-Bolts/dp/B0842DML4G
Could you share what Al has been done to the 196, governor removal, valve lash upgrade to how many lbs, jackshaft gear you switched to and I believe you said the rear gear was a 40. Mikuni vm22 carb, what else am I missing? 50 mph is awesome and the rpm’s sound so low like the engine is not wound all the way out

Dude you should change your name to minibike king
I just installed the same torque converter on my CT200U- EX and it's making my chain rattle like crazy. I cannot even get it going without the bike feeling like it's going to rattle apart. Any ideas as to what that could be?
Do you have the drive belt on the right way? There is a tapered side and a flat side
@@Black66 Yes. I have the tapered side facing out.
If the engine is tight and the chain is tensioned, sometimes the weights hang up in the driver. If you pull it off and use graphite dry lube in there it usually will smooth things out.
@@Black66 I figured out what it was. There were two small driver sprockets that came with the torque converter. I put the wrong one on (the teeth were too close together). The chain couldn't fully seat on the sprocket which caused the chain to skip/chatter. All is well now. Thanks for your help!
