Matt I love your videos and im running your build that you gave with the 12 core and 2080 super! LOVE IT! Could you do any videos using threadrippers and nvidia workstation cards? Thanks!
Love all your videos and especially the PC build guides. I have been thinking about building one since the end of 2019 and because of 2020 I have had that on hold but getting close to either doing a build or buying a prebuilt like you recommended here, but my question is If I went with a prebuilt like the HP Omen 30l what do you do about storage specifically for a photographer and or for video work you want to have backups so for the pc I know you have a boot drive for system and some storage/current projects and you can add a hard drive for most of your storage but what about your backups can you put another hard drive or 2 for backup or do you store you backups on an external hard drive and if so where is your working/boot drive backup. My thought If I was building a pc would be to have 4 internal hard drives and probably a external drive as well -1 boot drive/current projects 500gb-1tb -1 backup same size -1 larger storage 2tb? for all other storage -1 backup same size 2tb Is this what you would reccomend or is there a better way you recommend? Again thanks for all the great content.
I have the Mac Mini with the M1 chip and while it's great for video editing, I wouldn't recommend it for gaming or for streaming. In fact it's a pain in the arse to use for those things. Most games don't work either on a Mac, or with the m1 chip, and lots of plugins etc also don't work with the m1 chip, including most programs that allow you to create a windows partition on your disc to play windows only games.
I was looking at getting the Mac Mini with the M1 chip just video editing for a small business. It still seems like the best way to go vs building a PC.
I have a HP 8560w laptop (maxed out, 16gb Ram, Nvidia 2000m graphics card, 500GB SSD) Upgraded to Elgardo Facecam and Wave 3 mic my laptop graphics card can't handle the AI features of the Facecam... Bummer. Do I need the $1,000 system to edit my UA-cam video and run the Facecam? I tend to over buy my computers and then use them for a long time. PS: using $1,300 as a budget what options would you pick? Thanks for the video : )
Great information Matt! My husband is looking for a computer to support his new gopro videos and as beginners and asking a lot of questions, this has been helpful.
Mac2013 (late) the infamous 🗑 is literally what pros use and you can typically find them for under 1,500. Working in 4K w/ 4K is silly… work with 4K in 1080 space using proxies until you’re ready to online… which again depending on what kinda pro you are… you typically won’t have to work on the online (and won’t have to touch the high-res footage.) TV/Film/Commercial
I can vouch for the Omen series being good with video. I have a 2060 in mine and it's edits 4k, but if course runs smoother and more stable when using proxies.
@@Bri11ante I barely learned this and it's helped me tremendously but proxies are files created in lower resolution. 4K video gets changed to view at 720p for example and then will be exported at 4K for the final edit. It helps the computer run smoother.
Hey Mat!!!! I love your channel. I really listen to the things you recommend. I actually bought a Cyberpower PC for editing and Motion graphics 2 years ago. The only thing I would say you probably should mention is that Ryzen powered computers don't have access to Thunderbolt tech. I think I would have preferred to buy an Intel just based on that fact instead of the Ryzen because I tend to run out of space on the internal SSD that I have when I really need to edit fast. I haven't found an external drive that is super fast that I can edit off of. Can you recommend one for - CyberPowerPC - Gamer Master Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT - 1TB HDD + 500GB SSD - this computer???
🙏🙏 exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you. All the other videos diy are mostly for gaming, not too many on music. I have a studio and it's time for me to get a new pc. I like this option. Then I could just buy the other ssd, and ram I want
I want laptop for video editing , graphics , photoshop canva after effects Hp envy x360 vs hp pavillion gaming vs hp victus Ryzen 7 Which one is better bro pls suggest
Great content ! Would you create a video on high end video editing pc like $2000 and up. I was looking at your previous videos and the one that you posted is more than a year old video
@@whoismatt Price is not an issue just take my money and give me a beast :-D By the way would you recommend not going for a high end machine because possibly due to supply chain issues prices are too much inflated.. I am not up to speed in terms of pc cost.. so any tips or advice would be really helpful !
Matt I'm trying to get into video editing with Davinci, but my question, my next question is instead of getting an expensive laptop, I can get a desk top and especially an IMac, or an Apple Mini with the M1 chip. I may not need an external drive, but I think I'll get one just for the safety and storage. Now leaving the laptop question behind, would this configuration work for video editing?
Buy a used M! macbook air, I just have, and honestly the best option imo and I was a super pro windows user, the portability, price per perfomance, speakers, usability etc is honestly not matched. I got a 512gb version for 880 euro in Ireland.
I was shopping for a system last Dec and had very limited options given the video card shortages. I ended up buying an MSI P100A 11(almost bought the P50 instead) and the MSI PS321URV 4k monitor. I think that is the first pre-built computer I have purchased in over 20 years. I also looked at the ASUS ProArt monitors and they are nice too, but I thought the MSI monitor was better value. I am a big fan of ASUS products though.
please help me! I want to buy a computer and R5 but am afraid that the files will not be played in the premier I WANT TO SHHOT canon R5 ON 4K HQ 24.30 AND 4K 60 in CLOG 3 all-I in Premier witout proxy? I want to buy MACBOOK MAX 32GB 32C GPU 2TB Is it enough to work on files that are R5 - I fix color subtitles and audio titles and I edit 2-3 weekly small clips. Please help me figure out what to buy?
My custom built PC is a few years old now and was struggling with After Effects so I added an Mvme ssd for the cache and I topped up the RAM to 64 Gb. It seems to be handling it okay now.
Hello, My former current computer (was a build) is kaput. I am currently using my Back up, Ockel win10. It is underpower for sure, I used the former to edit and stream TV which I used a Hauppauge TV/DVR card. I am thinking of getting two separate computers one for the editing and the other for you tube/email/streaming/vpning. What would you recommend? My monitor is a Sammie 55" TV monitor.
Hi Matt, I've been watching your videos on video editing PC's, thank you for those. I'm getting into DJI drone video's (4K). And I need a new PC but I'm tight on space. I really really fancy getting the Beelink GTR 5 Ryzen 9 5900HX mini PC, but I'm unsure whether it will handle editing 4k footage. With your knowledge I would really appreciate your view on where this machine will do the job. I don't mind if it's not the fastest thing on the planet, so long as I can edit the 4k footage. What do you think?
For the $949 Best Buy computer, would u recommend me getting 32 gbs of ram instead of the 16? I’ll get either one of the brands u recommend in your description box just the 32 gbs of ram version. I want to game, Stream, and edit so I think it’ll be good but I’m not very knowledgeable on pcs💀 what do u think ?
Love my MacMini, even though it only has 8 gig of RAM. Plus all the real estate on my desk I now have without the big PC monolith hogging all the room. And let’s not forget the iPad Pro!

Nebula has Nvida Rtx 4060 and i5 13400f with 16gb ram, also 1TB rn. 849$
A little less than building it yourself.
I assume all of these options work best when using proxies, correct? Or, can a MacMini with an M1 and 16GB of RAM handle RAW 4k clips in Premier?
You also have some options for editing-laptops? :)?
