1) Aggressive behaviour by MA17 JYL could amount to assault (you don't need physical contact to be charged with it).
2) Changes to the Highway Code in recent years put a requirement on vehicles to give sufficient space to more vulnerable road users. In this case a motorcycle is a vulnerable road user and cars need to give adequate space and give way.
Absolutely report him to the police.
Please, please, please formally report this incident to the Police ASAP. Your actions could save someone from a iife changing injury or death!

And this is part of why I went to Wells on holiday this year instead of ever going to Wales again. Mind you, I had to wait out a South Hams bin lorry in a downhill single track road for 5 minutes because he thought I should reverse my motorbike out of his way.....when he finally reversed the 30 yards to a passing point and rolled down his window I reminded him of two things. 1..if he could find reverse gear on my bike he could keep it....and 2...he needed to go to specsavers because even when I took my helmet off two yards in front of him he didnt recognise a fella that worked with him for four years. 🦮🧑🦯🤔
Well he was a real ambassador for Wales, not! I live not far from there and I can assure you he is in the minority, most of us are welcoming. He was a total dick and you did well to remain calm, not sure I would have. Take care and don`t let that idiot put you off riding in Wales.

Having toured Wales in its entirety 3 to 4 times a year, for the last 5yrs well! 6yrs, but Covid kind of destroyed one of those years, so skip that ha, ha. I can concur, that! 99% of the Welsh population are very welcoming, however! 100% are bat s*"t crazy, in the best possible way, hence, I keep going back there!!!!

Hi both, just watched your video and thought I would let you know of something that happened to us and the action we took. So we had a car driver do an overtake that was dangerous putting both of us at risk. We had caught it all on camera. After some research I discovered that North Wales Police ( and some other forces) do a scheme called Operation Snap. We submitted the footage and 1 week later we received an email from the police informing us that positive action had been taken The road rage, speed and behaviour is worth submitting. Even if it results in just an officer giving words of advice.
Yeah all good stuff until a vindictive driver just dobbs you in because you accelerated past him on your bike

I live in Carmarthenshire and I'm truly embarrassed for this to have happened in Wales. I love the fact that you both visit here and give us such badly needed tourist publicity. You're both tremendous ambassadors for Wales and all the countries that you travel through, but that bloke was clean off. He should be reported, if only for the fact that he had a face like a Nordic sock. I thought the way you handled the situation was exceptional -- well done. A masterful lesson in restraint. He was OTT and rude but a devil's advocate would likely point out that you probably should have been more to the left and not blocking the road by riding towards the passing place on his side of the road waving at him to stop. If you'd both slowed to the left he could have dropped into that passing place on his side. Just my opinion. I hope you're both okay.

Agree. There was no need for you to gesticulate to him and you were also too far to the right. Nevertheless he was obnoxious and bordering on violent. Best policy is not to react at all and keep your hands to yourself unless someone else actually causes a very near miss or actual contact. Do not provoke as it inevitably leads to road rage.
That’s no excuse. The driver should have stopped and everyone slowed down to pass as a retired police officer the drivers behaviour is well out of order. The average person would have just driven on. My advice is to report the incident. You have video footage to support your report.
By the way he is no representative of Wales. Or the Welsh.

There's no excuse for this bloke's behaviour, although we don't know what demons he may have had in his head at the time. However, Rich, I do think you were in the wrong at your first encounter when you should have stopped on the side of the road and let him go by in the passing place rather than continuing straight toward him, thus forcing him to stop. Had you done this the whole scene would have been avoided.
He had no alternative other than to stop for sufficient time for Ewa following to pass, his speed oncoming was madness, better he hit me than Ewa.
@@ontheroadadventure being a bike rider and a car driver for over 40+ years on the single carriage roads of wales their is no excuse for the behaviour of that motorist, however your road position being nearer to the right rather than the left had a great deal in causing this incident as you and your partner said you seen him coming for over half a mile appropriate action should have been taken.
You should def report him...for his own safety! Other people would not react so calmly and he's going to get badly hurt carrying on like that.
I did the Gospel Pass earlier in the summer, it's awesome. I stopped at the little Chapel on the way up and a lovely Welsh lady offered to open it up for me so I could take a look.
As an English person living in Wales I can assure you this clown is a tiny minority. Wales is a great place to ride, please come back soon.

Would it have been better if you had just slowed down allowing the car to get to the passing place, after all that's what they are for! You would have just thanked each other and been on your way, this doesn't excuse the car drivers pursuit and his road rage.

He's the primary school headmaster , he's also the Welsh National Front membership secretary, he's also road safety officer and does a lot of good work for charity , we saw him once close some rds leading into Wales with a diversionroute that doubles bacl on yourself , he has a family of sheep and a huge collection of wellies bahhhhhhhhhhd man x

I've been to Wales many times, three occasions I've experienced this behaviour, not liking the English or bikes. I found it to be more so in the North of Wales than South.
We had no idea this was a thing..

I rode from Victoria Falls, through Botswana, Namibia to Cape Town and used Google maps and downloaded the routes via wifi when I stopped at rest areas.
Ideal 👍 I’d rather stick to Google maps as I know and understand it well
It’s difficult when you don’t know an area, local people know these roads like the back of their hand and I dare say there are some common practices on these roads of who goes where, on some of my roads that are similar I would have controlled the middle of the road then indicated to pull into the passing space myself to avoid the soft verge on the left, if you ever ride in the Rhondda please don’t gesture to anyone 🙏😅 as they might kick off😂, enjoy the rest of wales 👍
Knowing any road is not a safe passage to drive fast, none of us can predict a sheep running into the road or a motorcyclist around the bend

Glad you did the Gospel Pass, a regular ride of mine, you found a total idiot there, well done how you handled it. You didn't miss much with the owls nest. Nice people who visit, but the proprietor is somewhat arrogant, we use the west end in Llandovery or the granary in Hay on wye , enjoyed the video, the priory cafe is good shame it was closed. 👊

Glad you enjoyed Abergavenny and the surrounding area. The Skirrid Inn (The pub next to the old time petrol station), is famous as one of the UK's most haunted places. I live literally round the corner from that campsite. The Morrisons car park is always that busy as it is a free car park, and people use that instead of paying just over £1 to use the other ones around Abergavenny.

We have met so many nice people in wales, the country is stunning.... But theres always one ass hole in every group of people...
That’s unfortunate. I’ve been along the Gospel Pass twice in the last few years, once on my bike and once in the car. The people have been absolutely marvellous. In fact I laid the bike down at the top and some lovely people stopped and helped me lift it. But you always get the odd hothead no matter where you go.

Fantastic video and it brought back a nostalgic memory for me. I cycled over the Gospel Pass in 1997 while participating in a mountain bike adventure training exercise from Chepstow to Holyhead. I didn’t come across a single road rage encounter but times have changed and you conducted yourselves admirably! Keep up the good work and cheers from sunny Cyprus (which has some great roads)! 😊

I try and get out on my road bike most days and at the last count, I’d covered over 100,000 miles under pedal power in 11 years on our roads; this meant climbing over 2.5 million metres along the way! The roads up into the mountains or down in the coastal areas are very popular at the weekends with the motorbike fraternity - Harley Davidson seems to be the touring bike of choice! Maybe I’ll see you out here one day!
Damn, I’m sitting here in watching this in Alabama USA and thinking Wow! Yup Rich you handled that really well for situation that most would have seen red, I spent many years riding Enduro bikes around the Welsh mountains and yup I’ve seen this kinda thing before unfortunately. If you guys are ever thinking of doing a USA tour come and visit some Ex-pats in the US, we have great riding roads and less road rage! 😂 we also live 20 miles from the Best Motorcycle museum in the world, check out Barber Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham Alabama, it’s amazing! Interesting fact published today regarding the 20mph speed limits in Wales. In September alone 13500 driver caught speeding in a 20mph zone. Anyone one else thinking 'cash cow'. Fair doos to you Rich for keeping such a cool head with that bloke. Alot of people wouldn't have been as calm as you. 😮

I think you may have confused him by your Road position at the point you met. I think his point is that had you been to the left of the road then you could have passed without stopping or waving at him. The waving at him implies that he has done something wrong when your position was preventing him from going by.
Of course he needed to slow down, the guy needed to slow and take a breather he was driving like a loony. I’m surprised he got that far without hitting a sheep or coming off the road. He is a danger to everyone around him

This was my thoughts whilst dealing with him, im gutted my camera was not on, i thought it was. He was fuming that i was unbothered by his aggression and i didnt feel threatened by him at all. I shown more concern for his shaking hands and his stress levels lol poor sod
@@ontheroadadventure Everything was on camera, you was about to pull in that wide spot but he came over the brow too fast for you to and all you did was signal for him to ease off the speed responsibly and he acted very aggressive and put simply shouldn't have been in control of a motor vehicle. Maybe he has serious problems? Well done for being the responsible adult sir!

I've cycled all over Wales and it's a beautiful place ,ruined by the amount of fly tipping. Scotland is way cleaner and equally beautiful.

WOW!!! Having an aggressive road rage toad like that can really put a dampener on your ride. It’s uncalled for .. however I would have gone to the nearest police station with the video camera proof and reported him. He’s a threat to bikers… miserable old sod he is!! You both did well. 👍🏻👍🏻❣️
PS most bikers carry a piece here in the US ( I do!) not that you would blatantly do something, however, if he laid a finger on you yeah you guessed it!! 😮

I have lived in wales for over 20 years and ride a motorbike and want as many bikes to come to wales and drive correctly, this guys is a idiot and it was road rage to turn around and follow you. He should be reported but you've done the best thing possible.

Wouldn’t it be good to present to the Welsh Tourist Board a clip of the tonsil and ask them to use it in their promotional videos to welcome tourists to Wales. Dealt with admirably and luckily he didn’t have a heart attack. You don’t need idiots like that and maybe send a clip to the local constabulary and ask them to speak to him for what it’s worth
