Well guys you are trying ! We can recommend Vango Galaxy 300 owned and used since 2018 and used abroad. Goes up really easy once you fix the inner lining you leave it in. We can both stand up straight and cook in the seating area. Also ground sheet but we do use another to keep clean/ water / grass. We use a double air mattress and sleeping bag very cosy, and in winter a spare blanket as we camp in all season's. Plenty room inside.😊 We fit all gear to each motorbike. Been in some terrible storms and winds to over 60 +. Keep them videos coming . Kevin & Claire
An honest review is better than a person selling you shite because they have skin in the game . I would have a look at keeping your MSR tent it does the job as you both said and its very well made. I enjoyed that video it is a refreshing change to see the reality of picking the wrong tent.
We have a euro hike sendero 4 with a tarp on the side. You pitch the outer skin before the bedroom so keeps everything dry. You can stand in the living compartment and we park our bikes under the tarp 😊
Again I would definitely recommend the galaxy 300. Easy all in 1 setup in around 10 minutes when you get used to it. Best part you can stand up in it and has loads of room for 2. The bedroom section is lower so will be better for keeping warm. Not the prettiest tent but it works really well. Best of luck and enjoying the videos.
You might like to have a look at the slumit Gobi 3 Moto camping tent I, think think this would be perfect for 2-3 nights touring it put's up in 2- minutes .keep the videos coming ,great content.ta mark.
....Another giggle-vid guys..Love it... Wanna know what are those camp chairs you have, please......Oh, and its 27C today in Portugal...might overnight in my bivi .. 😄
Thanks for the review. That tent looks like it has a summer inner (all mesh). Looks like a copy on a vango omega 350xl (no condensation inside. Also vestibule has a ground sheet. No wonder you were cold.. thanks again for the review.
Another great video - thanks to you both - having a low tent always feels like you have to crawl in and out of it - what happened to the euro hike sendero you tried out on your Exmoor trip - that has loads of room but not a small pack size I guess?
That tent was massive, too big and heavy and was also wet inside in the morning, we knew after one night in that it wasnt good enough for the long haul
Ex mil corinthia sleeping bags are great, or buy a mil sleep system of two bags, one for summer and then add it to the second bag for winter, you could even sleep on one with the other acting as a duvet.
Double the size when picking.. Ie.. Single = 2 berth.. 2 people = 4 berth.. Ideally you can stand up. Especially for dressing /undressing... Porch area to store your kit.. Never take much notice of reviews, as they never look at it from a bikers point of view.... Another great video..
We have seen this one, it looks like a god tent. For us though its weight and dimensions are so close to the big MSR we have that we have no reason to buy it.
7:35 For me this tent has a flaw on the right side in the sleeping area. It lacks an additional stiffening cord in the middle. In the current shape of this tent if it gets a 70-80 mph gust of wind from the side it will break it and lie on you. Such gusts of wind occur frequently in today's weather. The film already shows how the gentle wind bends the tent in this place . Test a tent like Karrimor Panther 3
When you plan on camping also in low temps I always would go for a sleeping bag with a down filling. When you buy a new one you really have to spend some money on that. But it's worth it. 45 years ago I bought a used US Army sleeping bag (which had seen the Vietnam war) filled with REAL downs, which was already excellent. I then asked my mother to fill in some 500g extra downs just to play it really cosy. What can I say I was never ever freezing since then. Today my doughter uses it. If it gets too warm open it and use it like a blanket or lie on it.
An honest review is a rare thing and worth every minutes watching, thanks for your TRUE opinions. £25 for a 'Wild Camping' site sounds about right, I avoid them, head for a conventional site and pay ten to fifteen quid. I agree that a tent like the Opalus 3 is a single motocamper tent. I have done about a months worth of camping since buying my Vango Scafell 300+, which is an almost identical size and style. I have sufficient room for me and all my kit and manage to sleep without touching the tent to the flysheet, which at 1.85m tall is not the case in many tents. I was in North Wales in both June and September in 5 degrees and did not suffer with condensation at all. Comrie Croft just outside Crieff in Scotland have wheelbarrows as they only allow vehicle into the car park other than loading and unloading. I managed to find a quiet spot next to their dumper truck to lock and cover my bike every night. I was there for a week and it wasn't a problem.
Have a look at the Vango Tiree 350, there loads of room for 2 people and a reason area for cooking/equipment. There’s no pinning out a stone guard/groundsheet it’s all attached to the tent so it goes up with the tent and down with it plus you can walk into it and stand up in the porch area which is brilliant after a long ride
Excellent review !!! Can always count on you guys for a true opinion on products 👍🏼 And also a bloody good laugh along the way 😂 three man tent !!! That’s a joke!! Being 19stone and the gear I would carry , it’s a one man tent 👍🏼😂😂 and I can’t imagine what the state of that tent would be in if that tree had fallen on it , let alone you guys on the tour ???? Hope I bump into you guys at some stage on my travels ?? Love you guys 👍🏼👍🏼
I use the Habitude 6 and recognize it when it rains. Our solution is to put the MSR Rendez Vous 200 Tarp on first and then the smaller MSR Elixer 4 that can go under it. It is extra luggage but I like the quality of MSR.
No problem, Did you see the discount code in the video description for you? I would say that little pump is our most used and needed gadet for motocamping. we love it
An honest review, never been a fan of nature hike, its basically the same design as the Hilleberg Nallo 3gt but the hilleberg is a grand and will stand up to any weather you throw at it. Glad to see youve got new lids, looking forward to that video 😊 the new cooking gear looks good. I still love my vango galaxy 300, you can put it up in the rain and everything stays dry, plus small bedroom so better for heat retention - wont take 3 blokes though but comfy for two.
You can spend spome mad money on tents, But if you use it enough it can be justified in time if you have pennies in the first place. Yes i love the Firemaple stove, this thing is so powerful it cooks such a big plate so quickly its ace! It is like a bbq without any mess
Hey you two nice to see you out and about again . Not good when the tent is small though this was what we experienced few weeks ago with the bikes . The tent had only been used twice and it leaked . We had to ditch it in a bin . At least the bikes were lighter 😂😂 Eva looked really cosy in her sleeping bag despite the cold weather drop . 😊
Smaller tent you say…why? I use a 5-man Campmaster all-weather tent just for me! It is 1.85m high, tons of space for helmet, jacket and riding suit, soft panniers, bags etc and cooking gear. It’s actually way too big for 1 person but why camp in a small tent just to save a couple of kgs…Personally, I’d rather have the space. Thanks for the review Rich and Ewa, I was thinking of buying a tunnel shape tent, but nah! Ride safe, love you, bye! 😉🏍️🍺🇿🇦
Hi guys, we’ve just been camping in the New Forest on monkey bikes. We had a mountain warehouse six man holiday amazing tent and we can stand up in it. separate sleeping pods to put all your stuff in and easily fit bites in as well. Love you guys 😊
I hear your pain! We started off with a second hand 3 person tunnel tent. We bought second hand as it was cheap and not to expensive to try if we like camping. Anyways, getting side tracked 😆We used the tunnel tent for 1 trip and I didn't like the condensation either! Trevor liked the tent because of the vestibule. Well, I researched and bought a preloved Wickiup 4 Teepee tent (weighs about 2.5 KG) and i can stand in the middle, we have tons of space inside. We use 2 cot beds, have all our gear in there (apart from the panniers) and have a little porch to cook if needed. We also have a tarp which we use if needed or if we stay somewhere more than a day. Keep looking and testing 💚☘
We were so glad to have the porch bit on this one to have somewhere to sit out of the wind though, we were so cold sat outside making our food this time...
Cannot believe that was £200 tent! I have a Eurohike Avon 3DLX from Go Outdoors, 3 person tent (although much more as a comfortable 2 person tent), separate porch area, but the built in groundsheet covers the porch and bedroom area. Erect the outside first then the inner tent. Blackout bedroom means you're not woken up in the early morning sunshine. All this and just £75 with a go outdoors card (cost £5 for 12 months). Its no MSR, but its £75. Stayed dry in downpours and warm too!
Hi . We recently travelled over to Achill Island in Ireland and god what a disaster. The site that we booked was so busy that all of the ropes from the tents was touching each other. The rain started at 22.30 and carried on until around 17.00 the following day. The Tent was so cramped because we had no choice other than stay in the tent. When your traveling like you two then you need a level of comfort . Great stream and makes you think about kit 👍👍👍❤❤
Hey Rich I love my big Agnes diamond park 15 deg as it wraps around the air mattress and is good to -5 degrees C Worth a look for sure and packs down to nothing 😉👍
I've always used Khyam quick erect tents. Bit heavier than some tents but ok for on the bike. Went to Shetland a few years ago to the simmer dim rally and took my Khyam Freelander, you can stand up in the porch bit and I can get it fully erect in just 2 mins. Keep up the excellent videos you two.
How does it pack away again? is it just as easy? We watched someone with a pop up tent have the fight of their lives trying to fold that down again, Most entertaining
It's not as a popup tent, it's got proper tent poles that are hinged and remain connected to the outer and inner tent all the time. The poles just fold in to the centre via the hinges. The inner can be removed and put in the washing machine to freshen it up if needed. Look on you tube, there's loads of videos. Takes about the same length of time to put away.. fold the poles then just roll it up.
ua-cam.com/video/Swe9MD7BCUE/v-deo.htmlsi=cHkLX9xvSoq9mQdc Something like this, I've had one same size but I also have the bigger one called Freelander. All erect the same way.
Carry on camping 🏕️ morning campers, you two made me laugh when when Eva was folding the wrap😂, but I loved the Bunsen burner set up, it works great, I just remembered that me n me mate were in York last Saturday and went to visit the Biggest outdoor camping & sport centre in Europe! It’s Massive on 2 floors, it’s called GO, sounds original, lol, believe me Eva & Rich it has Everything you’ll ever need seriously, my best mate loves camping, after seeing you two lovely people having fun, me my dog & my best mate will definitely be giving this a try somewhere in the UK next year When it’s warmer, take care, have fun 🤩🐶
We will add that place to our maps and visit when we are nearby… We are not planning to give in yet, we are stubborn and will get our big sleeping bags out and on it!
I have the Slumit Cub 2 tent which is great for a solo travel, it's sold as a 2 person - so easy to set up and fold down - check out their range - popup tents maybe the 3 or 4 man item aroung 6kg would be easier for you? Never understood those 2 part tents, even msr, put up tent in rain, cover up tent with rain cover, too much hassle.
When i was a litle boy camping was good on texel you go there by ferry from denhelder there is the navy base of the Netherlands I,m now 2 meter tall buy a bigger tent good luck
Lots of people recommending the Vango Galaxy 3 man tent, I’ve considered it, but I’m a lone rider. So it would be ok With all your kit, try the Vango Skye, if you come up to West Yorkshire, I’ll even demo it for you !
There is a 4-person version of this tent, but I agree you get what you pay for. I have a Naturehike cloud up 2 and it’s useful if I’m alone and keep my stuff beside. I only used it 3-4 times but no issue with condensation so far. But material feels cheap so let’s see how long it will last
@@ontheroadadventure yes I agree. And especially if frequently using it the quality needs to be on top. Unfortunately I can’t give any advice. My tent experience is not that great 😄
Hi Guys. I just bought a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Long. It weighs less than 2kg without the footprint. I wouldn't want to have 3 people in there but it's very spacious for 2 with loads of storage pockets and a good head height and you can put up the fly first if you have a footprint (or maybe anyway). (It's tapered a bit but will fit two 25" mats) If you want something a bit cheaper and a bit heavier, you could try the Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel, which comes in different sizes but look very spacious. Keep up the good work! 😃👍💪😅
I spent a week on the isle of Man in a small coffin tent during bad weather, it was miserable, one of the guys had a Vango Tiree 300 which I think is the right kind of size for a single moto camper
Hey guys what about the lone rider adventure tent, I have the two man and I think they do a four mane or the one with the garage bit for the bike, have a look
The Lone rider ADV tent looks perfect for one person but how on earth are other couples getting two people inside and what do they do with all the bike gear, helmets, boots etc? If you leave it in the Porch area youll get slugs and bugs and bud all over it...
@@ontheroadadventure I get the bit about bugs and slugs but can't you drink bud outside the tent lol 👋🤠👍,have a look at the four man lone rider wants .
Hi Both, good vlog as always, but when you mentioned the new helmets you didn't show them or give a review. maybe in another vlog lol . i ordered a tent Eurohike avon 3 DLX in the black friday sales for £65. when it arrived i had 2 delivered. the other being Eurohike Cairns 3 DLX for free. i checked to ensure i didn't order them both and i didn't, so what a bargain.
A couple of points following another great video. The use of a groundsheet/footprint covering the vestibule, as well as making things drier, more comfortable and so on, significantly reduces condensation from ground moisture. The Opulous does have a large vestibule area, which increases this effect. The next point is one of raising awareness of a huge safety issue linked to camping. You mentioned the cold night you had, and most of us will have experienced that while camping! One or two have mentioned tent heaters, which can be fine with good ventilation, or certain electrical ones may be fine. What is INCREDIBLY dangerous (apologies for the caps) is when people bring a barbecue they’ve been cooking on into their cold tent, as it ‘still has some heat in it’. At this stage it is pumping out huge amounts of carbon monoxide, which is of course absolutely lethal, resulting in several deaths a year on UK campsites and in other countries too, no doubt. Please get the message out to friends and family who camp, as few people seem to understand this.
Thanks, you cant believe people can be so stupid eh.... We didnt know about adding a ground sheet to reduce condensation though, this does make sense now you say it... Could well be why our MSR doesnt condensate as almost the entire tent area is covered on the floor
Hi guys, thanks again for your videos. Loved watching you both tick about the kit which took me back to my time living and operating on the Brecon Beacon in minus 10 as well as operational tours also in sub zero. It really is an art to keeping warm and these days you can find really great kit to help you. 22 years in the army and I have never slept in a tent but only a poncho with 2 ends in the ground and the other 2 attached knee high to trees leaving you open to the elements. Nutrition is also a factor to quality of life while out in the wild. I see you guys fry most of your food which is crap for the body in the long run. There are other options and great cooking hacks out there. Maybe look for an ex army guy in your area that can help wish bush craft cooking and how to keep warm and dry. Again, I did say ex army. Please do not accept ex Air Force or Navy because you would be screwed. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
We've camped for many years, two up, so that tents fine, it's all about weight and size. Try and pack everything on one, with a pillion, see how that goes with the MSR.
I know its been mentioned a couple of times but the Vango Galaxy 300 should be a consideration. We ordered one which arrived today and although weve only had it up in the garden are quite impressed. To put it into context, we have the same MSR as you guys but where the vango should win is with the large porch area where we can both sit and cook in, it also pitches as one so pitching in the rain is less of an issue. However because the sleeping bit is just a tunnel tent with a hanging inner there is a degree af baggyness that you dont get with the msr. The quality of the MSR is superior and woyld still be our go to tent unless a week of shitty weather was forecast. To throw another option in then go massive, we also have an outwell dash 5 tunnel tent but thats only really for if we're in the same place for a week (for the IOM TT it would be ideal. Like you guys we have 2 bikes, so carrying a big tent isnt really an issue and having it on the pillion seat makes for a handy back rest.
I know this is counterintuitive, but what about 2 tents and you can always face the vestibules opposite so you can chat, I've heard the Durston mid pro 2 (expensive but highly rated) is a great light tent, and though you need hiking poles to pitch, you would have poles anyway so it's the same, or failing that, what about the LoneRider tents? Thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure ✌️ 🤙 🤟
Hi guys it's the ultimate search for the perfect tent for us bikers we had one similar to what your testing we've gone for euro hike sandero 4 it's standing height fully sewn in ground sheet 3 poles tunnel tent jobs a good un heavier but worth the compromise keep up the good work Jason& dawn
@ontheroadadventure It's the one we plan to buy - what went wrong with it? I dud email Vango telling them what us bikers need in a tent but they have no plans to make any 😂 We have spent forever searching and after seeing the sandero pitched it looked like what we needed.
It’s far too big and heavy packed and it rattled so bad in the wind… It was our first time though… here you go watch this one ua-cam.com/video/JhvMiRJpmao/v-deo.htmlsi=mcwfsL0leae-Hdnd
😂 i have a Coleman Darwin 3 man for just me and gear no standing room. My friend Mike uses a North Face Wawona 6 just for him and gear. It's like a marquee. Tim rocks the Lone rider moto tent.
When it comes to tents its seems bigger is better all until we have to carry it on the bike.... So many of the 2-3 man tents are simply one man jobs with bike gear inside... Ive no idea how couples are travelling in the small dome tents together with kit aswell?
@ontheroadadventure personally I like the smaller dome style tent. I take the hit on standing up, and it's just me in the tent, so there is plenty of room for gear. They also stand up to the weather quite well. I keep looking at the lone rider ADV tent, but it's very expensive. I'm tempted by the coffee machine, maybe a Christmas self gift.
Have you guys considered going for a ‘hot tent’ for winter/‘shoulder season’ use? In other words, a tent with provision for a wood stove flue to safely pass to outside. This is not as daft as it sounds, as you can get a fold-up wood stove with a roll-up flue pipe, all of which comes in a small zipper case. I have a couple of different such tents and stoves and they transform the cold weather camping experience. Have a look at the One Tigris Rock Fortress pyramid tent, which I have, and which is perfect for two, has standing room and packs down perfectly for motorcycle use. Ali Express usually have the tent and various stoves or Amazon is another option. You could take a bag of ‘logs’, compressed shavings pieces or whatever, or buy them locally from near the campsite when you head out for a food shop for example. The tent without the stove is also brilliant.
@@ontheroadadventureGreat stuff! I should add that there is an optional inner for the Rock Fortress, which gives you mesh protection from midges etc., but I have used mine mostly without one, but with a groundsheet that I made to suit, including putting eyelets in for pegging out as it doesn’t have a sewn-in one. However, the excellent storm flaps can be tucked under a groundsheet to get a similar effect.
Good to know about the Opalus 3, not that I was thinking of getting one. But I do have a different Naturehike tent - Mongar 2 with a vestibule. - and I like the value of the Naturehike tents. I only have me to worry about so size is not a problem, and I get all my gear that I need to put in the tent inside, even without bringing the vestibule. I have never had the condensation that tent had, and I had it down to about 3 or 4 deg.C. The vestibule only is single skin so that could get condensation. I also have a Helinox Cot One that I can setup inside the Mongar, but now that I have a good sleeping pad and an insulated groundsheet I sometimes go without the cot. It is short and I have to kneel to put on my pants and that is a pain, but the Mongar is compact overall and that is what I wanted. My tent also has the external fly that allows you to put it up in the rain, which I know is a feature you are looking for. The pegs are the only thing I found to be too light and bent easily, so I got some heavier ones. Good luck with finding another tent suitable for you two. One solution is to get a tarp which can be erected in the rain and then pitch whatever tent you end up with underneath in the shelter of the tarp.
@@ontheroadadventureIf not camping amongst trees then you have to bring telescoping tarp poles. As you might expect there is a fair bit of selection on tarps, poles, ways to pitch tarps, etc. Some even camp under the tarp and forget about the tent, but that’s more hard core. 😊
@@ontheroadadventure Looking forward to your thoughts in the future. Nolan / Xlite are never quite given the recognition they deserve. They great attention to detail especially the lining.👍🏍✊✊✊✊✊
Rather than checking ‘reviews’ and buying on Amazon and then having the hassle of negotiating a return why not visit a decent outdoor store and talk to (hopefully) experts; you could make it clear that if their recommendation doesn’t work out you will be returning it - they should agree to this if they are reputable business. As with most things ‘you get what you pay for’. [Reading the comments it seems that everyone recommends ‘their tent’ ] Good luck…..looking forward to your future adventurers.
Love your videos, always have something I can relate to and you have great attitudes, even when you have to slate something that doesn’t work. I used to go to a few wine tasting sessions and I was always disappointed when I tasted a wine that I *liked*! Why? Because I was pretty sure to buy a bottle and leave a few quid poorer- whereas if I tasted one I didn’t like, I had found out what to avoid in future, and I didn’t have to pay for a bottle to find out! Bad reviews are a good thing for us punters! 😂😂
It’s not necessarily about giving bad reviews but honest ones. Too many people make videos just to sell products and then you don’t get a honest review. We will never do that, if it’s crap we will tell you 👍
In theory it is a good tent but as you proven it it is no good, cheap made! Good you never set of for a long trip with this! Thanks for the heads up on this tent
If we had gone touring with this we would have had to bin it and find another one. Getting wet when camping is a disaster, staying warm and dry is the key to moto camping, as soon as you fail that the game is over
Years ago I had a “Khyam” Biker tent. Used it for years and years, and it was really good, quick to erect, and stable in windy conditions. Might be worth a try?
i think the fact that you can spread all of kit etc over two bikes means having the Msr is not an issue, if like me you either ride one up with your gear or two up it means you really have to think before you load up. me and the misses took a small 2 man for an overnighter last month and what a struggle, where as my shadow 350 is perfect on my own. loads of room for kit.
You answered your own question really 2 bikes one pillion seat reserved for a good sleep put it virtual to your top box and it doubles up as a back rest on long journeys
Hi guys. Id stick with the msr. I didnt hear many grizzles about it on your last trip. Share the load and save the cash. The fact that you can stand up is worth it. Cheers
We honestly have nothing to moan about with the MSR other than its pack size… This trip was the equivalent of taking another bike for a test ride to realise that you still have the right bike in the garage 👍 We still like to test them though!
Just when you have a shit day and feel very poorly. You two provide me with some great banter and pick my chins up immensely. Loving yer work guys. Please keep it up. Let’s also start some reviews for sidecars. Post any wedding and family plans. 🤣
Tent needs more airflow - poor design, with the rain fly part of the tent. Probably good in the rain, but with a separate rain fly you can leave gaps around the bottoms. My (backpacker/2 person Big Agnes) is about 4 lbs, so 8 (3.5 kg) is still light for two. Warm weather tiny tents are fine (for just sleeping) but you have the right idea for comfort in cold weather.
Solo camping, I've been using a Carinthia Observer, most recently in the Alps down to 2 degrees and snowing overnight. warm, dry and comfortable. But now that Mrs ATFTW is on wheels we have to get more space so I'm considering another Observer or a Snupak Scorpion 2 or 3. Too small for you two?
Nature Hike is more at the leisure end of the market, but for the money could be a good option -but only in the right conditions. Our (uk) temperate climate means often high humidity, wet ground and cool nights - nearly all tents will produce condensation in these conditions no matter how much you vent them - I have a largish collection of tents and all in the uk are wet to a greater of lesser extent - only in dry air and or hot condition (3 days a year for the uk) are they truly dry. Size does also help actually, the larger the tent generally the better the condensation conditions. As you are sharing the load between 2 bikes pack size and weight is less of an issue, your MSR tent would seem to be almost ideal apart from the inner pitch first issue (which I personally hate) - something the same but with simultaneous inner/fly pitch would be ideal?
That coffee machine is need definitely!! Like the burner too ! You're right tent was 💩 need to be able to stand and more space needed for the two of you plus bike gear !
To be fair, you will always get condensation in a tent when camping in cold and wet weather. I can't vouch if that is true of bigger tents as our biggest biking tent is probably smaller than this (Vango Omega 250), but I'm sure you will still get it whatever the size of tent but with being more spacious you're less likely to press against it. Good entertaining vid again!
Someone suggested its the grass area in the porch with no tarp that creates allot of condensation in the night, this could be true as our MSR is completely covered and has never had any condensation
Good Gear is Everything when motorcycle camping, theres no way round it, you have to buy good quality or suffer the consequences... Our MSR is a bit like a circus tent but it gives us so much comfort. We hadnt even thought about condensation as we have not had the issue at all with the MSR
Water condensation on a waterproof tent canvas is absolutely normal. For that you have an inside tent open for vapor. Every body produces vapor, even masses of water during sleep and since it is cold outside and the canvas is waterproof it will condensate on the surface of the cold canvas of the tent. You have this effect always when there is not enough venting so that the moist air is vented to the outside e.g. when you sleep in your car. You can prevent the condensation only by venting like hell with fresh and dry cold air or heating up so that the warm air can hold all the moisture.
We can honestly say we have never had any condensation in the MSR and we have done some very cold nights especially on the Portugal and Spain tour in April
A bit left field but have you considered something like the Cozy House Outdoor Waterproof Four Seasons Family Camping Cotton Canvas Bell Tent with Meshed Door and Windows, or similar? Ok it's 25kg but you certainly can't complain about the size! £420. I'm no camper but I presume there must be something similar in modern materials that's much lighter. 🤷🏼♂️
I think you would have been better off using your first ever moto tent (Sendaro 4) and at a pinch you could fit both bikes in when the weather was bad.
That one was Massive! it was a bit too much to be carrying with us on tours. A smaller version of that looks to be the lone rider which could be a strong option
@@ontheroadadventure I have taken that tent in the past strapped to my topbox. I now use a variety of different tents depending on the trip and destination.
We have the same tent, we have used it for years for bike packing (cycling on a tandem). It's a decent product, we never had any problems with it. Every light weight tent will condensate with that kind of weather. It is light weight but not very practical, it's too low, no space for your head and always going inside on your knees will make your knees heart. For motorbiking better have a bigger tent.
@@ontheroadadventure as long as it's only up on the tent it's not a problem. It is not falling down inside the tent. In the morning you just wipe it off. And it's really dry very fast.
@@ontheroadadventuretrue, I recognize that. We are now (only when cycling) using a much higher tent (Exped Outer Space), so much easier to come in and out. When traveling by motorbike we don't use a tent, no space to bring all the luggage. We travel together on one motorbike.
There's something for everyone. The important thing is to find the one that works for you, and perhaps more importantly, your other half. Then you'll be happy Campers. I used to love camping but as I've aged, anything that doesn't have a hot shower and cold beer is off the agenda. That way it doesn't matter how bad the day has been. But, a good watch. Hi de hi. Ride safe 👍
I’ve just bought that tent after watching loads of great video’s. You can’t moan about a tent if you haven’t put it up right. It shouldn’t be sagging! If you know about tents, there isn’t many (if any) that are actually what they say they are. A 2 man is really a one man etc two in an emergency. Although saying that, I’m expecting to use the tent on my own. If it’s cold outside you will get condensation in any tent especially with two of you breathing in there. It’s horses for courses really, you spoiled yourselves with the MSR. You need another tent you can stand up in. Try Premier inn😂. Love your vlogs.
Lol rich at the barrier bought back a memory for me i had gone to Beaumaris carpark abd on way out i waited for barrier to go down after someone in front of me on bike had gone , i think i waited too long as i went forward barrier came down touched front of my bike and the bloody barrier jumped off its stand it was the fastest i moved all day to get from there 😂
Lol - We are always paranoid they will come down on the second one to go through so we try to go to together or we take turns doing it. Better safe than sorry
Buying anything online is a bit of a crapshoot. I never read the Amazon reviews, but always watch the yt videos instead. That said, I have a tiny mier lanshan 1 person tent for backpacking that only weighs a kilo. I'm 182 cm (6') tall and it is cramped, but worth the weight savings for long hikes into the backcountry. Anything bigger would feel like a palace!
Guys...Now we're All going to a wedding. Was Ewa practicing pushing a pram? Wife & me camped all UK on 2 bikes, 25 years ago. I head to Albania,,,,, Alone ,,,,,on Tuesday. I will try report in. But I Ain't expecting a suntan. Croc on 🏍😎😉
Well guys you are trying !
Sounds like you guys have a good set up there... If it aint broke..
An honest review is better than a person selling you shite because they
have skin in the game . I would have a look at keeping your MSR tent
it does the job as you both said and its very well made. I enjoyed that video
it is a refreshing change to see the reality of picking the wrong tent.
Thanks Doc, We appreciate it. We promise to always be honest and Genuine... Even when the opinion may not be popular or Profitable
We have a euro hike sendero 4 with a tarp on the side. You pitch the outer skin before the bedroom so keeps everything dry. You can stand in the living compartment and we park our bikes under the tarp 😊
We first started with one of those but it was used and not good for us
Again I would definitely recommend the galaxy 300. Easy all in 1 setup in around 10 minutes when you get used to it. Best part you can stand up in it and has loads of room for 2. The bedroom section is lower so will be better for keeping warm. Not the prettiest tent but it works really well. Best of luck and enjoying the videos.
Thanks, we considered this one but its pack size and weight is the same as our MSR so we have no real reason to buy it
You might like to have a look at the slumit Gobi 3 Moto camping tent I, think think this would be perfect for 2-3 nights touring it put's up in 2- minutes .keep the videos coming ,great content.ta mark.
Cheers Mark we are looking at new options now.. 👍
....Another giggle-vid guys..Love it... Wanna know what are those camp chairs you have, please......Oh, and its 27C today in Portugal...might overnight in my bivi .. 😄
Oh Portugal... how we miss you!! We have oxford camp chairs, cheap and cheerful and do the job well
Brilliant test run! Thank you for keeping it real. We are not a fan of small tents either. What an awesome campsite. ✨️💚✨️
The Site was lovely, so much woodland to camp in and explore but it was too wet for that this time sadly
Thanks for the review. That tent looks like it has a summer inner (all mesh). Looks like a copy on a vango omega 350xl (no condensation inside. Also vestibule has a ground sheet. No wonder you were cold.. thanks again for the review.
Cheers, we won’t be using it again!
Yeh fair points - for the number of times you pitch and pack the tent away the euro hike would probably have given up long ago. 👍
Ex mil corinthia sleeping bags are great, or buy a mil sleep system of two bags, one for summer and then add it to the second bag for winter, you could even sleep on one with the other acting as a duvet.
Cheers I will look them up
Double the size when picking.. Ie.. Single = 2 berth.. 2 people = 4 berth.. Ideally you can stand up. Especially for dressing /undressing... Porch area to store your kit..
Never take much notice of reviews, as they never look at it from a bikers point of view.... Another great video..
Thanks Phillip, we learnt allot on this one
I recommend Vango Galaxy 300 Tent. I looking to get this one next season.
We have seen this one, it looks like a god tent. For us though its weight and dimensions are so close to the big MSR we have that we have no reason to buy it.
I've had one for a few years, it's a cracking tent
7:35 For me this tent has a flaw on the right side in the sleeping area. It lacks an additional stiffening cord in the middle. In the current shape of this tent if it gets a 70-80 mph gust of wind from the side it will break it and lie on you. Such gusts of wind occur frequently in today's weather. The film already shows how the gentle wind bends the tent in this place . Test a tent like Karrimor Panther 3
Yeah we won’t be using this one again! We are in our mighty MSR tonight 👍
Yeah we realised early on that cheap sleeping bags just will not do the job. A New Down Sleeping bag is defo the upgrade i need
Hey guys, another brilliantly funny video…y’all had us in stitches 😂. Thanks for being yourselves, don’t ever change. Nan says love ya bye
Love ya bye Nan!
You look so comfy in your little tent sometimes smaller is not always better. Thanks for sharing your adventures again
It’s not the small and cosy we had hoped for!
Seems A big tent is just what we need when theres two of us and bike gear to get inside.
We will look at that one cheers
Welcome back to cold/ wet U.K.! At least you both had a couple of grand tours!
Looking forward to the next one
Yes we had some fantastic times touring this year, the uk is beautiful on a sunny day… shame there isn’t more of them!

We are tempted to go even in the rain
Excellent review !!! Can always count on you guys for a true opinion on products 👍🏼 And also a bloody good laugh along the way 😂 three man tent !!! That’s a joke!! Being 19stone and the gear I would carry , it’s a one man tent 👍🏼😂😂 and I can’t imagine what the state of that tent would be in if that tree had fallen on it , let alone you guys on the tour ???? Hope I bump into you guys at some stage on my travels ?? Love you guys 👍🏼👍🏼
Yeah right! Tree stopper this one ain’t! Glad you have a laugh with us, that’s what it’s all about
Great video guys, glad to see your still smiling
We do our best! It takes more than a small soggy tent to dampen our Spirits!
I use the Habitude 6 and recognize it when it rains. Our solution is to put the MSR Rendez Vous 200 Tarp on first and then the smaller MSR Elixer 4 that can go under it. It is extra luggage but I like the quality of MSR.
Habitude 6! Now you guys have luxury
Great review, how refreshing to hear an honest review.
We appreciate that, thank you
Great vid, very entertaining, have ordered a mini pump after your recommendation. Cheers both 👍
No problem, Did you see the discount code in the video description for you?
Yes Ewa made the right decision on her Nemo sleeping bag!
It’s sometimes needed to prove to yourself you got it right the first time! We don’t blame you
Hi guys, we’ve just been camping in the New Forest on monkey bikes. We had a mountain warehouse six man holiday amazing tent and we can stand up in it. separate sleeping pods to put all your stuff in and easily fit bites in as well. Love you guys 😊
That sounds cool!! We love Monkey bikes we would love to have a couple Of them or CT125's to go adventure on! Sounds like a great set up you have
I hear your pain!
Cheers, I think Trial and error is part of the fun, Like testing other bikes... You just gotta!
What I find that works is small tent with a big tarp so you can stand up and have somewhere to cook and sit out of the elements carry on
We were so glad to have the porch bit on this one to have somewhere to sit out of the wind though, we were so cold sat outside making our food this time...
Thanks I will look out for those
Oh No! We have found camps like this too, its awful, we hate to be surrounded by people, we usually just move on and find another campsite
Thanks for your honesty.
Always!
Hey Rich
I love my big Agnes diamond park 15 deg as it wraps around the air mattress and is good to -5 degrees C
Worth a look for sure and packs down to nothing 😉👍
Thanks i will take a look at it, My Sleep system needs a Winter upgrade!

Something like this, I've had one same size but I also have the bigger one called Freelander. All erect the same way.
Or the biker plus like this.

Sounds interesting will take a look 👍
@@ontheroadadventure Good for you, nothing wrong with stubborn, erm well, depends I suppose 🧐
The msr is great but yeah this is a major floor when being used in the uk especially
When i was a litle boy camping was good on texel you go there by ferry from denhelder there is the navy base of the Netherlands I,m now 2 meter tall buy a bigger tent good luck
Netherlands is great for camping, very popular there 👍
Lots of people recommending the Vango Galaxy 3 man tent, I’ve considered it, but I’m a lone rider. So it would be ok
With all your kit, try the Vango Skye, if you come up to West Yorkshire, I’ll even demo it for you !
Yeah i think we are doomed to big tents for two of us and our kit
Check out the vango galaxy 300, I’ve used for 2 yrs MOTO camping, nice sized porch at front , and you can stand up in it .
This one is a strong contender, the only thing is its pack size and weight is similar to the MSR so we dont have any real incentive to buy it
There is a 4-person version of this tent, but I agree you get what you pay for. I have a Naturehike cloud up 2 and it’s useful if I’m alone and keep my stuff beside. I only used it 3-4 times but no issue with condensation so far. But material feels cheap so let’s see how long it will last
I cant see us using this tent again. It is the sort of thing that can ruin a trip so we have no reason to take that gamble
(It's tapered a bit but will fit two 25" mats)
If you want something a bit cheaper and a bit heavier, you could try the Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel, which comes in different sizes but look very spacious.
Keep up the good work! 😃👍💪😅
We have the thermarest xl matts which are proving two big for allot of tents
I spent a week on the isle of Man in a small coffin tent during bad weather, it was miserable, one of the guys had a Vango Tiree 300 which I think is the right kind of size for a single moto camper
Yeah a coffin tent is no fun at all
Hey guys what about the lone rider adventure tent, I have the two man and I think they do a four mane or the one with the garage bit for the bike, have a look
Tent oops
Hi Both, good vlog as always, but when you mentioned the new helmets you didn't show them or give a review. maybe in another vlog lol . i ordered a tent Eurohike avon 3 DLX in the black friday sales for £65. when it arrived i had 2 delivered. the other being Eurohike Cairns 3 DLX for free. i checked to ensure i didn't order them both and i didn't, so what a bargain.
Thats a stroke of luck hey!
You can't beat having a tent you can stand up in, i'm in my early 60s now and can't be doing with crawling in and out on my hands and knees.
We agree! we love our Big MSR Tent
We have been watching videos on bush craft and like the idea of learning some stuff
We've camped for many years, two up, so that tents fine, it's all about weight and size. Try and pack everything on one, with a pillion, see how that goes with the MSR.
Ah yes we have the luxury of spreading the load over both bikes so we are fortunate to be able to carry more for sure
Really enjoying your content. What helmets did you get?
Thanks so much, we have both got adventure style. carbon lids, Rich has LS2 and Ewa has Nolan
Let us know if you get condensation in your vango
I know this is counterintuitive, but what about 2 tents and you can always face the vestibules opposite so you can chat, I've heard the Durston mid pro 2 (expensive but highly rated) is a great light tent, and though you need hiking poles to pitch, you would have poles anyway so it's the same, or failing that, what about the LoneRider tents?
Thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure ✌️ 🤙 🤟
We have seen the lone rider tents, i think they deserve a shout...
Check out Decathlon inflatable tents. May work well in tandem with your new inflator.
I think a inflatable tent is too much of a liability for us, i cant believe we could use it every day for months without getting a puncture..
@ontheroadadventure less risk than your tyres I would think. Might be warmer too.
Hi guys it's the ultimate search for the perfect tent for us bikers we had one similar to what your testing we've gone for euro hike sandero 4 it's standing height fully sewn in ground sheet 3 poles tunnel tent jobs a good un heavier but worth the compromise keep up the good work
Jason& dawn
We had this tent for our very first night camping... It didnt go well for us but we did buy ours used... How do you get on with yours?
@ontheroadadventure It's the one we plan to buy - what went wrong with it? I dud email Vango telling them what us bikers need in a tent but they have no plans to make any 😂
We have spent forever searching and after seeing the sandero pitched it looked like what we needed.
It’s far too big and heavy packed and it rattled so bad in the wind… It was our first time though… here you go watch this one ua-cam.com/video/JhvMiRJpmao/v-deo.htmlsi=mcwfsL0leae-Hdnd
I've been looking at the lone rider tent just wondering if you guys have looked in to them and what's your thoughts
We have been looking at them, we may well try them out as they seem very popular with other bikers.
We would love that!! We will look online and see about them 👍👍👍👍
@@ontheroadadventureGreat stuff!
We are watching videos on it now! Must feel soo cosy!
@@ontheroadadventure What’s known as a game changer - you can even use the top surface to cook/brew up!
What holds the tarp up over the tent while we put it up?
@@ontheroadadventureIf not camping amongst trees then you have to bring telescoping tarp poles. As you might expect there is a fair bit of selection on tarps, poles, ways to pitch tarps, etc. Some even camp under the tarp and forget about the tent, but that’s more hard core. 😊
We are not that tough!
Most reviews that I saw, are done in the reviewers back garden, you can see them all fresh as a daisy in the morning !!
Yes always filming the shot climbing out the tent fresh, having already got up and put the camera outside the tent lol
Another great vlog. Never mind the tent I see you both have new helmets. I couldn’t quite see what they were.
Yes we both have new lids! Ewa has Nolan i have LS2 both Carbon adventure lids
@@ontheroadadventure Looking forward to your thoughts in the future. Nolan / Xlite are never quite given the recognition they deserve. They great attention to detail especially the lining.👍🏍✊✊✊✊✊
Yeah we will do review videos once we have some miles in them
Ewa knows how to put tent up rich i had a great tent sold very warm had 3 liners osprey back pack etc OEX Phlox tent
The OEX stuff seems to be good quality
Rather than checking ‘reviews’ and buying on Amazon and then having the hassle of negotiating a return why not visit a decent outdoor store and talk to (hopefully) experts; you could make it clear that if their recommendation doesn’t work out you will be returning it - they should agree to this if they are reputable business. As with most things ‘you get what you pay for’.
[Reading the comments it seems that everyone recommends ‘their tent’ ]
Good luck…..looking forward to your future adventurers.
Yes that is the truth of it... Everyone likes their own kit which is great... Its also the reason we wanted to try new stuff to compare
We will never do that, if it’s crap we will tell you 👍
Excellent review guys :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve still got my biker tent, still use it when touring now,had it 10 years never a problem with it,proper piece of kit
Very similar to loan rider i believe?
i think the fact that you can spread all of kit etc over two bikes means having the Msr is not an issue,
if like me you either ride one up with your gear or two up it means you really have to think before you load up. me and the misses took a small 2 man for an overnighter last month and what a struggle, where as my shadow 350 is perfect on my own. loads of room for kit.
Yes, a 2-3 man tent is in reality a one man and bike gear only
You answered your own question really 2 bikes one pillion seat reserved for a good sleep put it virtual to your top box and it doubles up as a back rest on long journeys
Yeah we are lucky in that we can carry more kit being on two bikes
Also check out the slummit tent range gobi3 seems pretty good 👍👍
ok thanks we will take a look
Just when you have a shit day and feel very poorly. You two provide me with some great banter and pick my chins up immensely. Loving yer work guys. Please keep it up. Let’s also start some reviews for sidecars. Post any wedding and family plans. 🤣
haha Id love to get my hands on a sidecar outfit... Ive never ridden one.
I think this one was a bit cheap and nasty, you get what you pay for I guess
Solo camping, I've been using a Carinthia Observer, most recently in the Alps down to 2 degrees and snowing overnight. warm, dry and comfortable. But now that Mrs ATFTW is on wheels we have to get more space so I'm considering another Observer or a Snupak Scorpion 2 or 3.
Too small for you two?
Go bigger than youll think you need is our advice, two of you means double the kit to store in the tent with you at night aswell
guys you only sleep in it. love the cooker ,where idid you get it frome/
This is from Firemaple, we love their stuff its cheap and brilliant. We have a link that gets you a discount too in the description of any video
Myself and Mrs Boulder use a double sleeping bag. You should try one as you warm each other through....
We need to try one out!
Our MSR is massive perhaps thats why we never had this problem before then?
That coffee machine is need definitely!! Like the burner too ! You're right tent was 💩 need to be able to stand and more space needed for the two of you plus bike gear !
We haven’t found a single two person tent that’s actually realistic!
@@ontheroadadventure yeah the metric for measuring how many in a tent is based on a game of sardines !
What time does the clown starts hahahaha love it
Glad to see I’m not the only one with bad camping experience
Yes i think the vents on this tent is insufficent
Condensation always a thing as it gets colder... I wonder how your MSR would perform in the same conditions
We can honestly say we have never had any condensation in the MSR and we have done some very cold nights especially on the Portugal and Spain tour in April
What you need is a tent that you can relate to , like the O+2 😁😎
Millenium dome tent
Great work, I wish you success
Thank you very much
A bit left field but have you considered something like the Cozy House Outdoor Waterproof Four Seasons Family Camping Cotton Canvas Bell Tent with Meshed Door and Windows, or similar? Ok it's 25kg but you certainly can't complain about the size! £420. I'm no camper but I presume there must be something similar in modern materials that's much lighter. 🤷🏼♂️
This made us laugh....
@@ontheroadadventure I presume a Yurt would be out of the question?
We need a converted lorry with drive in garage
Thanks, how do you deal with the condensation?
@@ontheroadadventure as long as it's only up on the tent it's not a problem. It is not falling down inside the tent. In the morning you just wipe it off. And it's really dry very fast.
We found getting out the tent in the night means touching the tent and getting wet
@@ontheroadadventuretrue, I recognize that. We are now (only when cycling) using a much higher tent (Exped Outer Space), so much easier to come in and out. When traveling by motorbike we don't use a tent, no space to bring all the luggage. We travel together on one motorbike.
Rich mine was -50 and was too hot for uk and was nearly as big as your tent sold all my gear lol clamping is the way in uk
Glamping in Premier inn !
@@ontheroadadventuresounds good 😂 love your videos in what not to buy 😂👌
Learn from our mistakes!
I knew you wouldn’t get on with a small tent like that 😂
In fairness im not sure the size of it was the biggest problem... the Condensation makes it completly unusable
Hi de hi.
Ride safe 👍
This is so true.... I think we enjoy the Trial and error stuff, We like the challenges. Even when its bad we are still having so much fun together
Well we cant argue with you on that lol
For one man there are soo many options available but for two adults and bike kit it seems a 4 man or more is whats needed
Croc on
🏍😎😉
You think the weather will be ok to camp on the way there?
"Brand new never took it out the packet"....sure as f**k you won't be getting it back in...😂
In fairness it did go back in the bag but it took some stuffing!
It's got a good-sized porch for boots, jackets & lids and stuff.
But if you leave you lid and boots and riding gear in the porch it is open to the slugs and mud in the night
You guys are hilarious 😂, keep em coming 👍. Luv you bye
Love you bye
That tent has got an RGR (Rich Grump Rating) of about 8.5 out of 10.
Lol and a new measuring marker was invented!
Buy once , cry once. You get what you pay for. That MSR tent you use is hard to beat, considering it checks all your boxes.
this does seem to be the case... surely we didnt get it right first time??!
@ontheroadadventure I think you did.. I mean, a tree fell on that tent, and it's still good as new.
If it ain’t broke…
Vango galaxy.. awesome tent for you both.
Lots of recommendations for this one... we will check it out
I applaud your positivity, I would have had a massive tantrum and my wife would have been kicking me around the site !,
oh yes.,... We edit those bits out.. lol To be fair we just laugh it all off... What else can you do
