- Taking my Narrowboat across the River Mersey
After weeks of single handing my narrowboat through many locks and swing bridges to Salthouse Dock in Liverpool, I then make plans and get the Rum Wench ready for her next big adventure through Brunswick lock across the dangerous and tidal River Mersey to Eastham Lock and onto the Manchester Ship Canal towards Ellesmere Port.

I have recently got myself a new addition to the crew, a fabulous companion - my little rescue dog Bonny who is an absolute joy and the perfect First Mate. I also work full time off grid from my tiny home and trade at canal festivals as The Narrowboat Pirate aboard The Pirate Boat.

I knew you were in good hands when you said your Pilot wasStuart Wood my long lost cousin 99th removed ,he was always a great seaman for a nipper, of course's a lot l younger than me ,but good see he hasn't lost his touch.
Love been sailing in my track track of many voyages.I remember early voyage on a tanker when I was Cadet we were discharging Eastham oil dock adjacent to the lock you passed through .I wagon watch with the @nd mate when he passed me a basket and told me to go pick dandelion leaves for his pet budgie ,,,,the things you learn as a Cadet.
So glad you took the plunge and did the crossing and became a " Scouse" t for a few days I'm sure you enjoyed the stay and that giant hip flask ,now dont get fat to fit it on your hip I luv ya ust the way you are.Lots of luv to you and Bonny ,well done a great memorable episode.

This was an epic vlog, Heidi! I had to pauze it a few times as it was too exciting, lol. Had to calm meself down. But your pilot Stuart sure was an asset for this trip, so good you had your crew and people to share the experience with in real time. What can I say, the photography, some patreons helping from the shore? Way to go Heidi. It looked a little rough for a while and, of course, it had to rain. Glad the second half was calmer. That was one big flask. I looked up the Manchester Ship canal to figure out where you are going. I see now. Didn’t spot it at first. That was an amazing cruise today. I could feel the excitement in the air. You should be proud of yourself.
