    i also wouldn't be surprised to see varela getting the win over J Chen to be honest, the 3 5 minute rounds favour Andy and as they start to get slippery it will be harder for jozef to get anything going on andy, and with the pit walls i can see andy blasting double legs and potentially taking jozef down and winning, but depends how harsh they are with stalling calls on Andy. jozef definatley the more skilled grappler though.

      Andy is very explosive and definitely a handful. But we had to go with Jozef given that he just beat Andy a few months ago.

      @@JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf I tried, I can't guess, too many great grapplers. You probably mentioned it, but if anyone besides the bros win the tournie they'll probably have to beat both Ruotolos back to back to do it.

    I think he's relying too much on past matches and weight in his predictions. You have to factor in conditioning and people's ability to improve on top of finishing ability. The wrestlers can definitely upset some bigger names just by applying their pressure and aggression. They don't have to submit anyone. Smaller guys like William Tackett and Kenta also have a chance of going far because of their aggression and submission ability. Everyone is picking the Rotulos and Victor Hugo to win but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't.

      Well this isn't wrestling though. Mika Galvao snatched Kenta's arm like 3 minutes into their match because this is BJJ and there're many variables to the equation. There are leg entries, swipes, flying armbars like Mika, or even any scramble mistakes that leave their limbs exposed.

      I think Tackett has a decent shot at making the final. But for Jozef to get there, assuming he gets past Varela, he'd likely have to beat Hulk, then Tye and that's a big ask. But the fans voted him #4 seed, so plenty think he has a good chance.

      Kade already beat his big brother for the trials and William is better than his lil bro. From what I have seen, Andrew is on the level of Chen, Varela, Kenta, etc. Hulk or Tye will be against Kade.

      @@JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf I think I discount the Hulk matchup because he's so big cutting to under 80 that I feel like there's a strong chance the cut hurts his physicality. As for Tye, Chen faced him recently and they basically nearly tied. With a million dollars on the line, I think the extra effort and aggression favors the finishers, and Chen is a submission hunter. But who knows, Tye is the favorite for a reason.

      It would be the biggest win of Kenta's career if he pulls it off so I think it makes sense to favour Hulk. I just saw Melqui Galvao picked Hulk to win it all. The stalling could affect him. But he could be experienced enough to stay on the right side of it.

      Hulk's cardio for long matches usually sucks because he goes out so hard the whole time, but the five minute rounds and potentially the alley favor Hulk. He's my dark horse for this tournament. Based on some of the Flo footage they've released recently, he also looks to be one of the healthier ones in this bracket.

    • @filthypirate
      @filthypirate 4 місяці тому

      @@sd_mikey8004 Yes, he is super strong too with amazing wrestling & back takes. Problem is, if he makes 80kg, he won't be the usual Hulk. He will likely be tiny. No way he can make 80kg with only water cut. Otherwise, the day after, he will be exhausted from the weight cut. Tactic wise, he won't match the Ruotolo and Jiminez. Unfortunately for Jiminez, he has a kryptonite everyone will try to exploit before he gets to their back.

    Could you expand on roberto vs tye? I think Kade is much more sporatic and almost spazzy compared to Tye which helped him get that win over roberto last adcc. I actually thought roberto should've been a top 4 seed over either jozef or nicky ryan especially given that last match he had with nicky rod.

    • @JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf
      @JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf  4 місяці тому

      I don't agree with the word choice related to Kade. He's amazing in transitions and most of the time gets one step ahead in a scramble and ends up in a dominant position.
      Roberto's a threat on his day, but I have plenty of grapplers in this division ahead of him. The likes of Hulk and Andrew have much better cases to be #4 seed than Roberto.
      As for the potential match with Tye, it's pretty simple why I'd pick Tye. I just think he's better everywhere. Roberto could well give him a good go, but I don't see an area where I'd favour him over Tye. Can you see one?
      - Ross

    • @Abashebe
      @Abashebe 4 місяці тому +1

      @@JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf Yeah for sure I don't mean spaz in a bad way. Sorry I should've used explosive/pace-setting. You're totally right on that front -- poor word choice on my part.
      I think Roberto is potentially stronger on the feet and quite good at transitioning into leg attacks as of late. His match with Nicky Rod really left an impression on me considered the 20 lb weight discrepancy. I think Tye takes his time much more than Kade does which means that rounds with quick transitions could give Roberto room to work. That being said I heard secondhand that Tye typically bests Kade in the training room.
      All this is to say that I think this match could be much closer than a lot of fans are saying. Both athletes are extremely good at entering the legs from standing. Roberto probably has the size and athleticism advantage in pure standing exchanges. In a long time limit match I think Tye definitely takes it but the 3x5 format with the wall adds a lot more wiggle room for Roberto to just really send it. If Roberto goes for more submission attempts, there's a decent chance one of them could go through.

    • @Abashebe
      @Abashebe 4 місяці тому

      Also for context I'm a huge fan of pretty much all the athletes hence why I want roberto to get a bit more credit -- not discounting anyone else at all

    • @JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf
      @JiuJitsuOracle-lz9yf  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the in-depth analysis. I think there will be transitions and scrambles in Roberto v Tye (if we get that match). While Roberto is good in the scramble, the Ruotolos are exceptional.
      I think Roberto tends to look better against bigger wrestlers, where he can use his movement to cause them problems and he seems to handle any strength disadvantage very well. I'm also still not entirely convinced about his leglock defence, even although it has improved.
      No doubt though, Tye v Roberto would be an absolute banger of a match and I hope we get to see it.
