When I first got together with one of my band mates and we did that song, he always heard Paul's part, where as I always hear John's part. There is a video of them doing 'If I Fell' at the Indiana State Fair on YT when they couldn't even hear themselves and it came off pretty good, not an easy tune to do with just a few monitors in front of you on stage and kids screaming. I recently purchased THE BEATLES RED ALBUM 2023 Re-master - and to my astonishment IF I FELL was not included - neither was SHE'S A WOMAN - instead of those two stellar Lennon - McCartney tunes they included one Chuck Berry cover and a Smokey Robinson and the Miracles cover --IF I FELL contains one of the greatest two part harmony vocals in the history of recorded music by John and Paul
They should have stuck to the original format of having only original material on the red and blue albums like they did in the 70s. They should never have included covers.
As a kid, I didn't understand what the word "harmony" actually meant until one day I listened to this song. The light bulb went off, as in, oh they're actually singing different notes, I get it now.

I was waiting whole my life to hear this deconstruction from original. My Beatles No. 1 song. John is so clean here, good idea to leave the basic song in the background (without Paul). John wrote this song (most of it) but it was too high to sing, so he gave the main 1st line to Paul (who also struggles with it, as we know) and took the lower beautiful 2nd voice. In some concert records and also in the rehearsals to AHTN is John's vocal a little louder, which I love even more. I'd wish they did it so in the original record. It shows the beauty and geniality even more. I believe in the beginning part is John's part overdubbed as we here different breath in (in the original). I must have played this song on my guitar hundreds of times over the last 40 years and I never realized how fast the strumming is played. One of the great things about the Beatles music is there are so many things going on under the surface that I still don't pick up on unless I hear them like this.
Ridiculous talent no one in music comes close to these young English boys , the only music that matters ! Anyone with ears to hear is a pool of jelly on the floor after hearing their sound

I believe from some of the things I've read that if I fell was a hit in England Germany, and Australia they gave it a single release in Germany but I've never seen the German I believe it was very high in the Australian charts if I fell is respected by a lot of beetle fans pissed it off including me.
