Did you know that someone landed on the helipad on top of the beautiful Burj Al Arab?
Yes, Polish RedBull pilot Luke Czepiela landed his modified Cub on the shortest possible runway of only 27 meters.
To make the feat possible he and a team of CubCrafters engineers along with renowned American aviation engineer and aircraft builder Mike Patey made a number of modifications to the aircraft, reducing the total weight to only 425 kilograms and moving the main fuel tank to the rear of the plane to allow for more aggressive braking. He practice the short landing multiple times before until he got it right and was then ready for the attempt to land on the Burj Al Arab!
Once he was up the second challenge was getting the plane of the helipad. The engineers added a nitrous system to enhance the power of the little cub, in order for it to take-off again.
Congrats Luke, that was hell of a landing and take-off!
Now you know! Like and follow for more aviation facts every day.
I hope you enjoyed this video and learned a little aviation fact for today! More to come tomorrow!
    Wishing you all the best!

That helipad is a challenge with a rotor craft! Landing an airplane on that is absolutely amazing! A feat very few could do... Of course pulled off perfectly by a fellow Polish pilot.

But landing on land is a lot safer, lot margin for unexpected wind change, etc. Even crash at low spead would be fairly safe. Luke couldn't allow for those things to happen at all. That's something completely different.

@@ChristophShyperfair enough also these stol guys rip everything off the aircraft and take like two gallons of fuel. This guy couldn’t afford to do that because he had an airport to get back to.

Disk crafts can be designed for table top helipads and air strips. Also Versatile flex wings mounted with tiltable engines an alternate option. Ask me how for commercial designs.
This method of landing is ok just for adventure but not for commercial and emergency and routine operations lije hotels and hospitals. If disk crafts are well designed tourism also can be opened up. Pickup and drop delivery etc.😊 Obviously I appreciate this pilot for attempting on this. Nevertheless easy and safe operation is most important.

Takeoff would be easier I'd think. As long as he can lift off, even below stall speed, he can dive down (it looks like he did that anyway) to gain airspeed and recover the stall before hitting the ground
