    The difference in the environment and available resources from desert to jungle and everywhere in between is astounding. When I was a child, I suffered from a long term trauma which made me seek out hiding places where I ended up building small forts, hidey holes and shed queendoms. The moments alone in my space and imagination was a great comfort to me.
    I have spent about 50 years of my soon to be 62 years on this planet learning about these things. I have lived in my 1815 log cabin in pretty much the way it was lived in when it was built. I raised my daughter with money made from my imagination, knowledge and hands. I have the scrapes and scars to prove it. It is a hard life, you have to be dedicated and love what you are when you do these things. I lasted quite a long time at it but as I aged, I had to find easier ways to live. I left the cabin and the lifestyle to be a weekend warrior for the cause of teaching about how life changed in the Americas for the indigenous peoples. Since then, my body has broken down from hard work and sacrifice. Now, I am nearly bed bound and my genetics have about ruined me. But, watching others doing what I loved now gives me some happiness. May learning never end and may those to live it and teach it find their best self and a great younger apprentice. It is vital that people know what they came from and how to get back to it...if only for a weekend.

    Chad, I know I have kept on saying thank you for the last several years. But I've had a horrible week and I really needed this vid. I needed the beauty of the cinematography and I needed to be reminded me that hard work has nothing to do with shouting at someone or being shouted at.
    This was a perfect reminder of what a human being should be.
    Thank you so much, Chad.
    I can now breathe out again.

      Thank you so much for your comment... I know how difficult life can be. Sometimes it feels like my existence is just a tragedy! I have recently had some difficult times as well but we must keep going forward. That's the cycle of life. Press forward until we die. Blessings to you. There are seasons in life. The rough times are storms but the sun will shine again.

    One important element in human civilisation is cooperation. If chad could invent all these and survive alone, imagine a tribe of people working together. we would share all sort of inventions to make our lives better. Nice work Chad.

      I think about this a lot. With a tribe so much more could be accomplished. As long as all people in the tribe work together as one unit. Observing the ants is a good example of this.

    Another great video Chad....I'm wondering if you give regard to the alignment of the new hut, (North, South, East or West), to account for prevailing wind and rain? or if it's more important to have a nice view in the mornings when you wake?

    • @ChadZuberAdventures
      @ChadZuberAdventures  3 роки тому +12

      Yes! 100%.
      I'm always observing the wind directions and the movement of the clouds. This place is totally new to me and has very different weather patterns that I was unfamiliar with so all of that must be taken into consideration. Another important detail is the placement of the chimney. I want to place it on the safest side of the hut to avoid sparks or embers from falling on the roof. Regarding the directions, I think I will just put windows on the west and east walls so I can see the sunrise and sunset from inside. The entrance will probably be on the north side.

      @@ChadZuberAdventures I was thinking that yes but with mixed in straw or other binding material. Like dried tall grass or some other dried long material. Even if the rain gets to it you can always repoint the outside. Many frontier colonial cabins used mud between the logs in their cabins. Usually mixed with a dried material like straw or grasses. Perhaps the dried shells of those bean pods could work. I apologize if I am over stepping Chad. I just want to suggest and help. Many Cherokee would live in mud stucco covered mud brick houses with a straw or grass thatched roof. Just trying to be helpful. Thank you.

      With the heat and work i say he needs at least 2-3 liters per day, but that bottle is like what? 1 litre or so i say. Also, he never hunts, never sets traps to catch animals, no fishing as well. Im finding it hard to believe that a grown up man can survive on berries and seeds with such a workout...

    You can also cultivate it from its small black seeds.

    One thing I noticed about fasting and/or eating very little and working is that you put out like a madman...the cortisol is cranked through the roof and the flight or fight makes you unstoppable

      @@ChadZuberAdventures yes I have when I do long fasts...I love fasting it is definitely an experience..you get tired because your body fat percentage is low ...you're putting your body through hell when you allow it to get too dehydrated ...you may find water but our bodies need salt aka electrolytes ...stay hydrated my friend 🙃
