Man, I got stuck out in the snow so much this year lol, didn't think I would survive, actually I freaked out and feared my end, just glad some Mexican culture knowledge helped me, wool blanket the entire winter very little use of fire, did make a bamboo container holding some beewax candles I made, Wich was my walk to town heater so i could regularly collect food for a few days. You're definitely getting it down better than me, but have to be sneaky and get around the laws of society for homeless people. So far I lost two camps because I was found, but here I am alive and well, but am planning to leave this city here in Madison TN to be the patch of woods. Yesterday got really cold tho, I wear dresses alit and it is not great for cold temps, but I have learned the body can adapt after an hour or two in it. So I'm fine and dandy. I found my leather hide shirt I made last year, it'll be handy when I camp the thorn vines again. One day I hope see the atalatal and primal hatchets I build in your video's. I finally learned how to draw the instructions down for both. But if interested I can send you the images on the axe build. And we all need you and cave man to do another workout. Wishing you the very best Chad, thank you 🙏🏼
Hey Chad, im not sure if you have any floor heating. But if you have not, you should do it! Its pretty simple, since I believe you do not need that many materials for it.
I knowingly stayed in the southern states this year. The Polar Vortex thing came out of the Northern Hemisphere, and absolutely dominated for a short time. I have been enduring heavy rain storms all winter. And for the first time in 21 years of traveling around America, I'm now carrying a 2 man tent. It's been truly a GOD send for me. It's hard to recover from an overlooked mistake to where you end up using 2 days to dry out again.
Great video as always Chad! Have you thought about potentially extending the 'bench' of the rocketmass heater to allow you to sleep on it comfortably? I feel as though that'd be a very efficient way at keeping yourself warm at night, though it's not me out there so I don't know any better!
As your hut is not able to store more wood than for a cold night, I think it would be a good idea to build a simple 'shed' to store some firewood out of the rain or snow. You could for example build two walks extending from the hut, cover with a juniper bark roof, and hold there a stock of firewood to last at least two or three days and nights in case of a snowstorm or prolonged rainy weather. Also I was not surprised the bark worked well as waterproof material. Here in Europe we mostly used hay or water reed to thatch the roofsin ancient times, but I have seen some use cedar bark to make roof tiles in Canada and the North of the USA. Another advantage is that it has some insulation capacities too.
from 30:00 to 30:40 skip if you are not ready to see some .... dirty scene. btw watching this video made me feel cold. im wondering how cold it was inside the hut at night. Chad, question: if you get sick, i mean really sick, how long it takes till you get help? take a good care of yourself! 🤗
Also skip from 13:39 to 13:45 if you don't want hear he farts 🤣 Its natural and its the main idea of this channel, but that is strange that is 🤣. I guess some things shouldn't need to show.
Absolutely sick behavior with that "toilet on a tray" in hut. I was at minus twenty degrees Celsius and snow up to my knees and always went outside for toilet activities, not only me but everyone I know. Here I see this behavior for the first time, I could not believe what i see here!
I 've been wondering how you handled things when doing your business outside wasn't practical. Indelicate issues like that are virtually NEVER addressed in videos like this. It's refreshing to see someone admit that situations like that are real issues that need addressing.
Здравствуйте,в этот раз видео длинное,как нужно 👍🏻, стараюсь посмотреть вас перед сном, очень успокаивает и заставляет задуматься, человеку всё под силу, большое спасибо вам за контент, удачи 🤝🏻
something i notice in a lot of these survival/cottage/wilderness home channels. They all seem to forget the purpose of hides/tapestries/curtains. most people think these were just decorations but they actually served a real purpose. They were a layer of insulation. Hung over doors, windows, and even parts of the wall to stop drafts, keep in warm air, and keep out cold. large hearth fireplaces made of stone would heat up and act as heat banks... then when the fire went out they could keep radiating heat while curtains and door covers would keep the drafts out and prevent heat loss. Even the 4 poster curtain beds had that point. they would create a smaller space inside the main room, that stayed warmer through the night and protected the sleeper from drafts.
Guaoooo que bestial Bro en serio sobrevivir de esa manera es excepcional. Empezar desde cero sin nada y ver los avances que has tenido me da a entender que el ser humano es grandioso y no tiene límites.
👍👌👏 A nice, long and very well done video! Please consider to widen the heated bench to be able to lay/sleep on it! That's how people in the European Alps built their big stoves since hundreds of years. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health.
Living all alone , close to nature , wild life , no tools , less dress & very hard life. It's amazing . One of my uncles was a honey collector in northern hilly area of Pakistan . He was a fearlessly man I have ever seen in my life . Day time he use to point out bee hives & late night in complete darkness , he use to go alone with hand made pine tree branches lantern with 2 buckets . I am still cannot believe when leopards were plenty in the hilly forest. Early morning still dark, he came bach with around 20 - 25 kgs of pure honey to sell it in Islamabad (Pakistan). It was indeed the purest precious honey .
Hi Chad ! Thx for your amazing adventures ! So relaxing to see you in the wild ! I saw a guy doing a hut with little tunnels in the floor, under stones and clay, connected to the fire to extract smoke. Apparently, this help a lot to warm the hut. Just an idea :) Good luck, good weather is coming now !
Awesome as always Chad. I recommend making a door for your hut, so you don't have to unpile the bricks in the doorway every time you want to take a piss in the middle of the night. IT would also be interesting to see what ideas you come up with.
Love that torch. I’d have never thought to use a bowl shape for holding fuel for a torch. Just so common to see stuff wrapped on a stick it’s just wedged in our brains lol
U can never have enough firewood. I once twisted my ankle and also I'm sure i broke a footbone that I couldn't walk at all 2 do my chores and I didnt have any crutches or tall sticks to help me hobble around so I basically stayed in bed 4 the whole month till I could put enough weight on it . Thankfully I had enough firewood inside and just out the door. Also plenty of food and water. My human waste bucket was also there. I also wrote my goodbye letter just incase. I was so thankful that my elders taught me to always ALWAYS prepare for the worst just incase and luckily it helped me to Survive. 😅👍 So I pass on the info ALWAYS B PREPARED JUST IN CASE Just like Insurance
Good lesson there. You were in a much more serious situation. But, yes. To be prepared for every possible scenario is impossible but we can prepare for the most important like you did.

I don't cut my nails. Working outside in the dirt and mud naturally wears down the nails. I wish they would stay longer because I often cut the end of my fingers. I wash my hair with yucca leaves. A video takes between two days and several days to make. It depends what project I'm working on.

I am Canadian so familiar with being uncomfortable because of cold. I had to put on a jacket just watching this. I was very impressed with the roof. It didnt have moisture but it did have gaps at the very peak? on the other hand I am thinking that Juniper bark swells when damp and helps seal the roof even more. Just a guess.
You Canadians know cold very intimately. I experience it only now and then really. The roof wasn't even finished yet. I needed more material but despite the gap the snow covered it up and sealed it well. I was really concerned that there would be a lot of leakage during the thaw. I was amazed that not a drop of water came through during the daytime thaw. There may be oils in the bark that help shed the water. I'm not really sure. Most people said it wouldn't work but it did.
Chad, that was an awesome video. Winter truly hit home and the hut was a work of masterpiece ✨️. And no leaks. Priceless, and the fresh pure water in the form of snow...refreshing. God bless, stay safe and well until your next instalment. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏾❤😁
U need to make that doors mate, and I’ll suggest to make a bed and pillow. It’s gonna be better than sleeping on cold floor:). Such a great time watching this video:)
Chad, one more thing .... a raise bed is suggested during cold weather to keep you warmer when you sleep ( better than sleeping on a sheep skin on the cold ground !
The view of the first moments of snow from inside the hut was awesome. Was expecting a Santa claus to peep inside 😂! And thanks for your efforts in showing us the snowfilled landscape. Entirely a new background! Really strong roof 👍👍👍. You must have some other food too!
Hey Chad. Man, that looked cold! Great work though, as heater and hut made a cozy place to retreat. Looking forward to seeing what you do for the door. I did note the gaps all around the hut between the roof and walls. May I suggest shredding some of that bark, balling it up, and stuffing it into the gaps? I believe this will make a big difference. I did a similar thing with a cabin I used to live it out at a place called Roaring Beach. Was so much warmer. Keep up the amazing work. Rob, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
You can pile up more wood inside your hut and use two or three long branches or stakes nailed into the ground to support the wood and avoid it spreading all over inside. In this way you are not only making use of the vertical space inside but also reducing void space that wastes heat.
Hey Chad, a great episode. I'm glad the hut fulfilled its purpose, and glad the snow didn't come earlier in the season! But why don't you have more clothes? I understand wanting to pare down your material existence, but people in prehistory would have had all sorts of cold weather gear if they needed it. At the very least you should craft a top. It's weird to be half clothed. Maybe you could get some buckskin, try dyeing and add some beads you make yourself. It could be a good project. I suppose it depends what you are trying to achieve, you vs elements and environment disregarding accuracy or a more experimental archeological viewpoint. Personally I feel you tend towards the latter, apart from your sandals! Which are only a modern adaption of ancient technology anyway. So yea, I vote for some more clothes. Herds were plentiful in prehistory, so leather was in good supply.
Unfortunately we’re no longer in prehistoric times and herds are now very scarce. This is accurate because I want to acquire skins and materials naturally. In prehistoric times you couldn’t just buy what you need from Amazon.
It's good to hear that your roof is keeping the water out. I'm sure you'll work something out for a door to make things easier. Did you have enough time outside in the snow to look for tracks? Just curious to know if any critters were investigating your homestead at night. Have you seen any bamboo growing by the river? If so, split pieces could be used as gutters to collect water from the roof.

You live in an amazing part of our planet. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment. I began making yarn a while back. I need a lot of it to make a blanket, sweater, etc. Eventually I will.
@@ChadZuberAdventures Awesome! As a spinner myself, i'm familiar with how long yarn takes to make, but the pride you feel when you make something from scratch is amazing. I look forward to seeing some of your creations in the future. You could even make a mattress with washed fleece to insulate against the cold floor of your hut, which is fantastic by the way!
Really longed for this episode to see how well the hut would stand snow and the cold, great job!
Fascinating climate, I would never have expected snow.
It only snows a few times a year
I love episodes like this that you show your real primitive life.☺️
Chad, I really like the quotes you use... Emerson, Thoreau, et al. The truth of their words is really motivating. I love your attitude and perspective on life. Peace to you from Alaska.
Their quotes are very important to me and reveal so much about life. I'm glad you find value in them too.
My friends are asking for that from you. Anyways I am coffeed up badly and must end this comment.
I gotta get the yucca leafs today, just finished up a greenwood bow, Wich I have been dying to finish, time to string it.
Stay primal, stay proud, thrive on the rock we all call home brother.
Stay primal indeed! My first hut was near a homeless camp. The people there used to come over and visit sometimes. Thanks for sharing me your experiences.
Wow, this is something! Binge watching. The atmosphere is incredible! 10 out of 10 for Primal Tendencies
For a door you could use some tightly woven thatch as a flimsy but relatively good door since it restricts airflow
And if you wanted to make it sturdier just bind it to a stick frame to give it some structure
I’m planning something similar to that
my conclusion is that this video is exceptional.
>30 mins videos are always the best!
But damn do they take a long time to make!

An extraordinary video Chad👍🏼, you embrace nature in all it’s forms and venture with a spontaneous spirit. Your determination, perseverance and hard efforts are remarkable🤩💐. Very inspiring videos taking us back to simple and pure days amidst healing nature. I hope you get time to study the local native flora so you can plant some trees around this region to help flourish the land and it’s beings. We can hopefully leave behind traces of a greener earth and create a better place for our fauna. Hope you can make a video about this, something to teach younger children too. Wishing you the very best Chad, thank you 🙏🏼
Stunning cinematography Chad. Bravo.
Thanks. I love cinematography and this was a rare event so I spent a lot of time capturing the beauty.
Hey Chad, im not sure if you have any floor heating. But if you have not, you should do it! Its pretty simple, since I believe you do not need that many materials for it.
QUE FELICIDADE VER QUE TEM MAIS DE 30 MINUTOS AAAAA
Also skip from 13:39 to 13:45 if you don't want hear he farts 🤣
Its natural and its the main idea of this channel, but that is strange that is 🤣. I guess some things shouldn't need to show.
@@yanmalcher887 Relax. Everybody farts.
I could climb up mountain and call for help.
Absolutely sick behavior with that "toilet on a tray" in hut. I was at minus twenty degrees Celsius and snow up to my knees and always went outside for toilet activities, not only me but everyone I know. Here I see this behavior for the first time, I could not believe what i see here!
@@stojanslaven6083 Agreed. That’s not good survival.
Respect, you are master of primitive bushcraft.
Not a master. Not even close. I’m just a student.
I 've been wondering how you handled things when doing your business outside wasn't practical. Indelicate issues like that are virtually NEVER addressed in videos like this. It's refreshing to see someone admit that situations like that are real issues that need addressing.
Yeah it's a reality. I often read comments of people asking about that so I thought I'd show you all a little.

Very frosty. I could have made bean flavoured ice cream.
@@ChadZuberAdventures 😂👍
something i notice in a lot of these survival/cottage/wilderness home channels.
Just an idea :)
Good luck, good weather is coming now !
Thank god you have the hut put together, god bless brother, peace.
God bless you!
Bro farted in video and narrated it. Massive respect. 😂 Hugs from Brazil!
Awesome as always Chad. I recommend making a door for your hut, so you don't have to unpile the bricks in the doorway every time you want to take a piss in the middle of the night. IT would also be interesting to see what ideas you come up with.
Well I was gathering materials to make a door when I was caught off guard in the snow.
Love that torch. I’d have never thought to use a bowl shape for holding fuel for a torch. Just so common to see stuff wrapped on a stick it’s just wedged in our brains lol
Thank You for another video so soon after your last one!!!! The recent picture of your home was one heck of a teaser!
Thanks for your wonderful videos. They are inspiring me a lot. Greetings from Germany

Love the video, thank you. Great to see the roof performing so well. Commenting to support!
U can never have enough firewood.
I once twisted my ankle and also I'm sure i broke a footbone
that I couldn't walk at all 2 do my chores and I didnt have any crutches or tall sticks to help me hobble around so I basically stayed in bed 4 the whole month till I could put enough weight on it .

Sorry for asking but, can you answer some cuestions?
1- How do you cut your nails?
2- How do you take care of your hair?
3-How much time does it take to you for making every video?
Thx For Reading!
Pd: Me and my girlfriend always enjoy your videos, everytime gets more and more exiting and interesting, keep doing what you do, its magic! ❤️
@SOLID SNAKE SIMULATION 666 Oh, I didn't knew that, Thx for your reply!
I don't cut my nails. Working outside in the dirt and mud naturally wears down the nails. I wish they would stay longer because I often cut the end of my fingers. I wash my hair with yucca leaves. A video takes between two days and several days to make. It depends what project I'm working on.
@@ChadZuberAdventures Thank you so much Chad, you're amazing! Keep making great content, you are a pure youtube gem ♡

@@ChadZuberAdventures The upload arrived just as I had a moment to enjoy it, perfect timing! Great episode, lovely to see the snow and I am excited to see the new door. I hope it's functions well!
A place to reside free of charge, a place to make fire and construct humble shelter, a place to sleep and reside in serenity, a place to be at peace, a place to enjoy exploring, a place to facilitate deep learning, a place to nurture ones life and feed ones dreams, a place to tell others about, a way of life to invite others to. A place to procure food for body, mind and soul. A place to give to through receiving with gratitude and inherent wisdom. A place to be alive. And perhaps a place and time to be born in the hereafter.
Beautiful words. Thank you!
Hi, my inspiration 😍😍 love you so much 😘😘😘

Thank you so much! Yes, this was such a beautiful experience.
U need to make that doors mate, and I’ll suggest to make a bed and pillow. It’s gonna be better than sleeping on cold floor:). Such a great time watching this video:)
Yeah it’s all just a matter of time. I wish I had more time to dedicate to this. It’s all I want to do.

Yes, I am well aware of the gaps between the roof and wall. I was focused on using the bark for the roof.

Why?
@@ChadZuberAdventuresfound it funny. Still I love what you are doing. I really hope that you'll catch some fish info the trap.
You can pile up more wood inside your hut and use two or three long branches or stakes nailed into the ground to support the wood and avoid it spreading all over inside. In this way you are not only making use of the vertical space inside but also reducing void space that wastes heat.
Yes, I did that. You must not have seen the pile of word against the wall by the door.
Nice man. Cangrats with the roof. Great video, thank you man. Be safe

snow looks nice and your way of life is from ancient story of life your such a good strong man keep safe

Excellent video, Chad. Thank you for the upload.
An idea for the door, you can make a frame with juniper branches inside the doorway so you can use it as a location to secure the door using cordage.
That’s a great idea!
