I think they wanted to make them smaller packs so they can get a bigger variety of lighter tones and darker tones. And sometimes you might already have the lighter tones and want just darker tones. Or vice versa. It could be very useful that way to a buyer! But if they weren't doing it for that, would be a big yikes.
0_dysphorica_0 Bro most of the “dark skin tones” ain’t even dark, and even if they do out of 10 markers they’ll have two that are actually dark. I have no idea why some art companies refuse to actually put dark shades in dark skin tones

The Ohuhu markers win it for me in terms of variety of tones. As someone who couldn't quite get into using straight watercolor or alcohol markers, Tombow marries the strength of both perfectly. Personally I don't use the colorless blender, going straight over with a waterbrush works wayyy better.

I just wanted to add that there are colours I use on skin tones that are not considered skin tones. So these packs are great but it also great not to forget other colours that can be used ❤ really enjoyed this vid
to be honest, my main medium are colored pencils and i mix my skin colors from ochre, sienna, umbra and brownish red tones. You can even mix Skin color from pink and yellow, that's probably why the Black Widow Set had some very out there colors. I would never really use these skin colored pencils, as they are mostly not real enough.
I definitely see the difference, I just wish they had pushed it to be more apparent rather than subtle. With only 5 colors available, it would be nice if they were vastly different colors! Just a person preference. :P
I found this very interesting! My favourite doodles were 4:51 , 10:42 , 18:03 , 25:27 , 28:54 . But my absolute favourite was 13:31 ! Very unexpected and artsy😍
Yess, I love this kind of video! Comparing the different types of art supplies, the handy-dandy chart showing us all the deets on every supply - love this! 🤩
The green makes quite a bit of sense because these skin tone sets tend to be way too red/pink so it'll cancel that out a bit. But if they're gonna add green they could go all out and add a light blue as well. It would add a lot of versatility.
This is hella impressive! Thank you! My partners son has been buying random single skin color markers FOREVER trying to find one he likes. Will send him this video.
the problem I found with the copic skintones is that they don't have any yellowish tones which is a real hecking shame when you're asian and just want to draw cute little doodles of yourself :(
This is the most awesome review! Thank you Kasey, I never comment on your videos but I must say you put a lot of effort into them I really enjoy watching them especially the prompts book and illustrations- just fantastic! Thank you!
God i absolutely ADORE your artstyle, I love how you portray nudity as something fun and carefree as well as the wide array of body shapes and sizes and luscious leg hairs and it’s absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of Hilda and Hohokum and it makes me so happy to look at
There's actually a 36 set of ohuhu skin tones too!! The 36 set includes a few more shades. There's also the same 24 and 36 sets in the chisel/fine style that cost even lesser than the brush type ones!
Note with the copics: there is a smaller version of the markers kasey used (she used copic sketch) called the ciao. They hold less ink but work the same. In aud sketch makrers cost an average of $11 each, while copic cost $7 each. Please note in usd the prices will be different, but the skin tone set is also available in copic ciao! :)
This reminds me of when I was drawing something when I was younger in school and was like “𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐨𝐧𝐞?” And the teacher was like it’s right there and she pointed to the brown colored pencil I was just like “oh that probably sounded wrong when I said skin color” :,) (I’m pale btw)
There's also another brown set of Spectrum Noir markers that can be used for darker skin tones! They aren't specifically marketed as such but I thought I'd mention it

Me : * it’s a blessing. *
Kasey: *does a whole palette of swatches*
Me: That looks fun let's try it!
Also me: *gets bored after 2 swatches*
Am I the only one? Yeah? Ok...
Sameee
Adam from Doodle Date's also easy to get bored with color swatches. Not his gf, Steph tho
I love it but I do get bored bc it takes hours to make big swatch cards.
But doing the grid is the most horrible part of it.
Yeahhh me too
I did 200 swatches and then sorted them by color today because brain sees color and yells sort
This is the weirdest comment I've ever made on a UA-cam video, but I love how you draw pubes
Blooop ngl lmao me too

Blooop wha-
Me too! It's a pompom of pubes! 😂
I've always sung Spectrum Noirs praises. I adore their markers so much. This was a great review to compare all the packs. I just wanted to add that there are colours I use on skin tones that are not considered skin tones. So these packs are great but it also great not to forget other colours that can be used ❤ really enjoyed this vid
I was just about to buy skin tone markers! This video will help a lot
to be honest, my main medium are colored pencils and i mix my skin colors from ochre, sienna, umbra and brownish red tones. You can even mix Skin color from pink and yellow, that's probably why the Black Widow Set had some very out there colors. I would never really use these skin colored pencils, as they are mostly not real enough.
The pink was more neon though
Your art is so beautiful!
I love how everything u make is so cute
I been looking for good skin color sets and I really happy you made this video like I LOVE you for this 😭.
I think I recall Kasey saying, "Let's avoid nudity."
And I type this while I'm seeing her softly paint in the blush on a nude man's buttocks.
(27:33)
This is the best comment, fabulous
Lmao yes
Kasey you should definitely try the Crayola colors of the world set! They have a really nice range of skin tones!
winsor + newtons “dark” pack reminds me of what makeup companies say are “dark” foundations
Yeah that and having it be separate is just a huge yikes
They layer a lot and become darker as you go, they’re not the same as makeup, I thought the difference was clear? No offense.
@@strawberryskeletons1770 eh, the separate one is more of a yikes.
i just love how fun and normal kasey is about drawing bodies in all shapes, sizes and differences!
I love your doodles for this test, especially fond of the pubes on the construction paper folks
these doodles made me so happy. so quirky and body positive
19:23 am I the only one who actually sees a big difference?
no, i can too - it might be the camera doing that to us, though.
It also could be that she’s very slightly red color blind
I definitely see the difference, I just wish they had pushed it to be more apparent rather than subtle. With only 5 colors available, it would be nice if they were vastly different colors! Just a person preference. :P
Kasey Golden Thats true
@@chalkydusty ya know
I found this very interesting! My favourite doodles were 4:51 , 10:42 , 18:03 , 25:27 , 28:54 . But my absolute favourite was 13:31 ! Very unexpected and artsy😍
Yeah 4:51 was just tooo cute
Kinda satisfying watching this. Nice swatches, so tidy! Also I love to watch people draw with water colour
Yess, I love this kind of video! Comparing the different types of art supplies, the handy-dandy chart showing us all the deets on every supply - love this! 🤩
Am I the only one who thinks the first drawing looks like the sisters off ed edd and eddy?
You bet your sweet bippy they do ;)
sugerplum pudding omg 😮
The green makes quite a bit of sense because these skin tone sets tend to be way too red/pink so it'll cancel that out a bit. But if they're gonna add green they could go all out and add a light blue as well. It would add a lot of versatility.
Greens and other ‘unnatural’ colours are to build up the undertones :) Our skin has a LOT of different colours including green, it’s pretty amazing!
This is hella impressive! Thank you! My partners son has been buying random single skin color markers FOREVER trying to find one he likes. Will send him this video.
I love using the winsor + newton skin tone set because I just like how the colors are soft
The widsor and newton range is dissapointing,
the problem I found with the copic skintones is that they don't have any yellowish tones which is a real hecking shame when you're asian and just want to draw cute little doodles of yourself :(
This video is just a huge excuse to draw naked people
This is the most awesome review! Thank you Kasey, I never comment on your videos but I must say you put a lot of effort into them I really enjoy watching them especially the prompts book and illustrations- just fantastic! Thank you!
I am LOVING these different drawing styles you were doing!!!
Remember in school when kids came up to your desk and said CaN I UsE ThE SkIn CoLoR?
kasey: so this is turning out to be very silly
me: if thats silly then am i a joke to you
???
Don't take it as an offence cause she is saying it as a joke obviously
I knew it from the title that we will be seeing a lot of naked character XD
Me too, I was surprised that we only had one drawing including butts.

God i absolutely ADORE your artstyle, I love how you portray nudity as something fun and carefree as well as the wide array of body shapes and sizes and luscious leg hairs and it’s absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of Hilda and Hohokum and it makes me so happy to look at
If anyone wants the Tombow set of markers, try to get them at Michael's if you can, they go on sale for 60-40% off frequently!
I’ve never been this early on one of your videos, just 50 likes and 200 views, I just wanna day that your art is AMAZING🥰
As a girl who's mom forces her to shave against her will, the way you draw hair on the legs gives me an unusual feeling of comfort-
Kasey: “ This is really green... Yeah it is called green but
[IUSB] I ‘ m t e r r i f i e d “
There's actually a 36 set of ohuhu skin tones too!! The 36 set includes a few more shades. There's also the same 24 and 36 sets in the chisel/fine style that cost even lesser than the brush type ones!
I love your art style so much it's so unique! And you inspire me!
I have a question is it like the afternoon where you live cause it’s legit 3 am where I live but I’ll always make it to a video -w-
She lives in Canada! From the top of my head it should be morning there. Around 9 AM
same!
it’s three am where i am too 😂 australia?
Jessie Vy, I’m in AUS too! 1:03am right now! 💫
omg guys go to bed
Can you do a test like this with different types and brands of paper?
**Me seeing tombow markers**
my time has come.
@@NemoTheDreamO right?? Like, i was waiting for a review of them for a long time like aaaaaaa
I love how positive and not harsh but honest you are about certain products
This reminds me of when I was drawing something when I was younger in school and was like “𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐨𝐧𝐞?” And the teacher was like it’s right there and she pointed to the brown colored pencil I was just like “oh that probably sounded wrong when I said skin color” :,) (I’m pale btw)
16:12 I freaking love the smell of prismacolors.
Kasey: holds up pack
me, glaring and telepathically chanting: *BE INCLUSIVE BE INCLUSIVE BE INCLU-*
Thank you for this video! I’ve been really interested in skin tones/earth tones- this came at the perfect time.
There's also another brown set of Spectrum Noir markers that can be used for darker skin tones! They aren't specifically marketed as such but I thought I'd mention it
