This weird "coloring erasers" I found in a New York art shop
I thinking the lighting makes the set up look more artificial, like you are in a makeshift art studio in some basement somewhere. I think a more natural lighting looks better. I hope my opinion helps in any way.
Lamp Flowers I agree, I think the overview looks way more washed out than the closer view- I definitely prefer natural lighting
Though I agree, depending on the sunlight isn't good. Stormy? Dim lighting. Winter? Only a few hours to record. It's really stressful and it just isn't something I can maintain anymore.
I appreciate the feedback and I am going to continue working on finding the right lighting settings, but depending on the sun is just way too stressful and not something I can continue.
@@KaseyTheGolden Try turning your overhead light to face a ceiling. Not only this will bounce the light off the ceiling onto your desk, it'll soften said light. That's if you have a white ceiling, of course. :D
Kasey Golden Maybe you could look into those sunlight bulbs? The kind of thing people use to stimulate vitamin D production when they can’t get enough natural sunlight. That might help your lighting to seem like sunlight while being more reliable. (Though obviously I don’t know what your current lighting setup is like, so maybe this isn’t compatible with what you have now.)

It's just a matter of trial and error. Thanks for the feedback, I'll make some adjustments!
Have you tried a mix of halogen and fluorescent? I heard it’s one of the most color balanced lightings you can get. Also, the desk color accentuates the problem.

Uoxanna You kinda just.. rub the pastel/cream/thing on your hair, hope it stays, then it stays on everything but your hair
not feeling this new light, totally washing everything out and kinda like being under a supermarket light

What the lamp lighting up the fish sees
for me it looks really bright in the center and the borders get a little dark, it`s not smooth

I partially agree. It’s not horrible if you’re looking at anything other than the art. I’m assuming it’s because not being concentrated in the “pen”, the metallic on the paper is a lot more reactive to the light. I’m not totally against it or for it yet, because I do think a big part is the metallic aspect

It's like the Faber Castell gelatos! Waffles used them in a video some time ago, and said it's like painting with lipstick 😂
I was thinking the same thing.
Gelatos are my favorite. I use sponge dabbers to blend them out. 😍

In the place I life those stuff is sold as „gel crayon“ or „gel paint pen“. The set I own is marketed for children, not especially to be used as watercolor. But with a big hint that they can be used to draw on glas or mirrors and to be easy washed off with water

I still use those
water soluble oil and wax paints from companies like: Caran D'ache, Sennelier, are way better and "the same stuff". I am in love with caran d'ache neocolor 2. You should test them. They work very well with other aquarell colors. :3

I JUST FOUND THE SAME THINGS AND GOT THEM TO TRY OUT. I had never seen them before, so I was curious. The ones I got are a different brand, but almost identical packaging; which is weird . Plus the ones I got are just normal colors. I found them at Home Depot btw

Recovering Soul yeah, they had it cause of Black Friday; as like cheap gifts and stuff. That’s actually the strangest thing; they’re virtually identical products, except for the brand name at the top of the packaging (and the fact that mine are regular colors, and hers are metallic). Same example images on the back, same fonts, same guide inside; everything. I’d show you a picture if I could
Kasey, the cool fishbowl on a head has been done before - by you! In the awesome drag queen Tokyo Treat video, the 2nd one has a fishbowl on her head. She doesn't have a fishbowl dress but you did a more abstract fashion image with it. I love both! 😊

First thing that came to mind when Kasey started sketching a fishbowl woman was “Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off” by Panic! 💖💖
Give the new lighting another go, it doesn't do too well considering the reflective nature of these metallic cream watercolors but in sketching phase I thought it looked great! 🎉
i don’t really like the new lighting, it’s pretty reflective and the other lighting makes me happier and it feels more sleek to me idk

These remind me of the “hair chalk” i used to use. Especially the shape and metallic finish of the sticks! I think they were water soluble too.

oh my god i had these as a kid, they were from a different brand but the exact same sort of thing. The were marketed as a tool that could be used as a watercolor, crayon and pastel. My sisters and i were obsessed with them
I got these for Christmas and honestly I can’t get into small spaces which sucks but in a huge space they are cool

I can't get over how much I love this fish bowl outfit piece! It's so unbelievably cute! Would definitely love to see more 'weird-stuff-turned-into-clothes' art! ☺️
The artist grade variety of these water-soluble crayons are Caran D'Ache Neocolor II. A Faber Castels Gelatos are a more commonly known brand. But many art supplier picked these up. since they are fairly popular among art journalists to create a colorful Background to work with. I like them best on a non porous surface, like a gesso-ed paper.

A trick I like to use when coloring under a transparent surface like water, I take away the line art and just use color. It has a nice charm.
I wonder if maybe the non metallic creams would be thinner?

These behave similarly to the gel crayons I bought, which activate like watercolors immediately if you wet them. They even twist up the same way.

A couple of other companies have "gel sticks" which are marketed to printmakers and any mixed media artist because you can use a palette knife to cut off pieces, mix with gel medium and apply to a surface through a stencil.

These are like those Faber Castell Gelatos, aimed at crafters. Those were difficult for many watercolorists so I had low lowww expectations for this random brand.

I have never worked with cream watercolor I HAVE HOWEVER used "gel" highlighter pens that look just like these and I loved it! The blue highlighter would make such a vibrant baby blue when activated...would love to use these too!
