Even my brother, who loved the first movie and watches it whenever he can, hated Cloudy 2. I found Cloudy 2 painful to watch too, and so did the rest of my family. (Well, my dad says he thought it was okay, but he fell asleep in the theater-)
I thought the sequel was a worthy follow up.😐

For me, I think the movies are fine (Despite not watching them in years), but the show is anything BUT fine. If anything, the show is terrible.
I can tell this is definitely one of your earlier reviews, and I'm glad you're no longer going for the approach of talking directly to the camera and talking off the top of your head, because there were many moments where you say "uhmm" or lose your train of thought. Altogether, I agree with your opinion and cristiscm about this movie :)
+Shaina Gonzales Funny enough, this is one of my more "experimental" reviews than it is an earlier review. Normally, I keep it scripted and just show the clips of the movie. I'm much more organized than this. But during that time, I was so full of rage by how terrible this movie is that I just wouldn't stand to edit this review as I normally would by looking again at something that kinda shares the same quality of animation and standards of humour and filmmaking as Norm of the North. This may not be as professional looking as my other reviews, but at least it gets the points across of how it fails as a movie in every aspect. Anyways, thanks for watching and I"m glad that you agree :)

I agree. For the most part, I enjoyed it for the production design and the creative way the artists made animals out of food.

The ending where Mat just is exhausted, at a loss for words, and on the verge of blowing up is just..... WOW. He's not acting. He's trying his hardest to be real to the camera/audience without going insane for real. It's just..... WOW. I have never seen him so legitimately, non-overactingly angered by a movie.

I thought 2017 was a bit better than 2013, but yeah still a bad year.
But at least Disney and Pixar still gave us films that are worth remembering from those years.

The Story - 1/10 (The timeline makes no chronological sense, as Chester V would easily be dead by the time Flint grows up, the message is intolerable and preachy and the plot has as many holes as, if not more than, swiss cheese and is a poorly-executed rehash of its mediocre prequel full of annoying puns)
The Animation - 4/10 (It had some beautiful colours and unique designs on the food, but the human designs are utter garbage)
The Characters - 2/10 (I found them obnoxious, they were all bland, spitting out terrible jokes and the villain has no motive)
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 - 2/10 IGN (Wouldn't see again)

Ok, to be fair, that one was fucked up.
I was really offended from the beginning where it is re-established that Flint idolized Chester V as a child.
In the first movie we see he has posters of Tesla, Einstein, etc. He may not be as intelligent as his idols, but he is smart enough to recognize them as great names of science.
Then this Chester V comes up, we TOTALLY forget Tesla, Newton, whatever, and it displays a TV show that is just a food bar commercial! It stabilishes Flint as exploitable to no degree! He had more character in the previous film...
He's allowed to have multiple idols.
He probably was inspired by multiple people including Chester V.

I feel like ever since Despicable Me every animated film has to have there own minion type character/s. (This film having the strawberry). It really needs to stop, the industry needs to be more creative and create deeper characters whose only trait isn't just being cute

I actually have a funny story about Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs! I was watching it with my brother on TV because there was nothing else on at my grandma's house. My grandma walked in and said, "Why does everyone have such a big nose?"! See? My grandma doesn't like the character designs either!
So much rage was channeled into this review.
I finally saw the movie and the first thing I thought was "Well. That was a waste of 90 minutes." And the puns... the puns, man.... No. Just, no. BAD MOVIE. Shame on you, Sony Pictures Animation.
Being someone who thought the first Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was alright, I was at least hoping Cloudy 2 would've been somewhat decent...and boy, was I wrong! I just don't understand how anyone can like this horredously animated and unfunny re-telling of the first film. Here's hoping that Hotel Transylvania 2 can save Sony's asses after this second helping of food left a really bad taste in our stomachs.

I think Jimmy Neutron is a really bad movie, Cartoon Hero and that Cartoon Palooza guy say so too. But I have to say that Cloudy 2 is MUCH worse.

I watched this movie with my grandpa about a year and a half back, although he usually likes everything I put on after the movie was done he said that he didn't like it.

Fun fact: when my family and I went to see this movie we were the only ones in the entire theater. Five year old me thought being as loud as I wanted was the height of the luxury (but that’s besides the point). While I still enjoy the movie I see your points and thought they were well presented

The thought of Animat reviewing that awful movie "Foodfight" makes me want to write a lost episode creepypasta. That movie makes Cloudy 2 seem Oscar-worthy! Seriously, had it not been that it was released in 2012 or fallen into obscurity, it would have been the holy garbage grail of the bad 2013 movies. It's far worse than any of those movies combined.
Honestly I like Cloudy 2. Not as good as 1 but still an 8/10 to me.
When I first looked at the Harlem Shake video, I gave myself a double face palm.

This review made me laugh more then the actual film, that's how bad Cloudy with a Chance That This Sucks 2 is.
This movie just sucks in every way. I mean, the first one is pretty mediocre too...but it's like Christmas compared to this! Hell, it's not even directed by Miller and Lord, so that already tells you you're in for something horrible!

MegaSoulhero It's 'kay, mistakes happen. The first Cloudy wasn't all that good either (even if it's admittedly better), but I'll give Miller and Lord credit, since it was their directorial debut
supermariosonic 298 I don't have to watch trash to know what trash is. In all honesty though, if you like Cloudy 2, that's entirely fine, more power to you. But it is, objectively and truthfully, not a good film. I can at least see why people liked the first film, since it was something original and different, and the directorial debut of two of the best comedic directors working today. But this film is nothing but a rehash and shameless cash grab of the first film, and Chris Miller and Phil Lord didn't even return to direct it. And if you cannot see that, then you truly are as much an idiot as you sound.
Spyder Soup Because movies like Open Season and Surf's Up weren't popular, beloved by many people and made a ton of money at the box office, unlike the latter movies.

I actually have a very understandable reason why I liked the first movie. I was 9 when I saw it, and kids don't think so strongly about stuff like character design, story, character animation, etc. Now, I just think of it as ok. I'm glad I went to see Gravity instead of this pile of 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

Actually, calling it "a tribute to cartoons of the 40's" is actually insulting said cartoons of the 40's since not every one of them has this "rubber hose" animation. So I agree with you on that
What about the 30s?
I liked this movies more than the first. Okay at first I hated it but the kids liked it and watched it on repeat and it grew on me. The movie has heart and it has a few funny moments.

Oh yes, the old school Sony Pictures Animation, not so beloved as it is nowadays, we've not got successfull stuff like the Spider Verse films, Mitchells v. The machines, and Vivo while the only good stuff back then was the first Surfs Up, Arthur Christmas, and Pirates: Band of Misfits.
Given the choice between this movie and it's predecessor, I'd pick the original because despite the writing for the original, at least it was somewhat charming. Not to mention Tim Lockwood and Officer Earl were so beloved in the first movie and are ruined in the sequel, *sigh* such a shame
