Tbh that's not really true, there is a lot of rich people that use the more common designer brands, with that being said, its true that im the past decade, those brands have changed the marketing to apease the average young adult so they could flex
As a chauffeur who's worked as a driver for a rich person for a while, it's true, liability reasons. Also they don't dress to impress or care to impress anyone at all. They care about 1 thing their money can buy them. Comfort. If you see a rich person being driven around in a luxurious mercedes. It's not because that car is half a mil. It's because that thing is comfortable as hell, you can go full speed over speed bumps and hardly notice it. Stretched vehicles are comfortable to drive aswell, just a bit annoying to do tight corners with, but it's really comfortable even as the driver. Also, never talk to them about money onless you are rich yourself, because they'll assume you want something from them. Just never bring it up, buy your own lunch/drinks when waiting, just never ask for anything (except your promised salary) and you just might get random bonus' and tips. Same for famous people, don't talk about their fame, job or social status, just don't. If it still is a topic of frequent conversation, the person is usually not very likable/nice. If they never bring it up, it's probably a relief to them that you don't either. That's how my poor ass keeps getting reinvited to rockstar parties anyway
@@NipapornP depends on the model. A loaded Mercedes S-Class is infinitely more comfortable than the baseline C-Class. And in case you didn’t know, a Maybach also technically counts as a Mercedes (it’s called *Mercedes-MAYBACH,* after all)
Fun fact: A leased Lamborghini Aventador is about $6000/month. Meaning if you prioritize for financial stuff to a single car, you can look rich. Thats how lots of “car-fluencers” get high end vehicles rather quickly. Source is straight from my local NYC Ferrari dealer.
The other problem with the supercar influencer thing, is that there are a few but rare cases of someone getting a Lambo, making content, end up blowing up with millions of followers and then they actually become really rich. Stradman comes to mind. But the followers believe they can one day do the same, that's why you got people leasing Lambo's. They end up going broke trying to portray the same thing but don't realize the success of someone like Stradman requires luck, timing, and an actual personality.
That's insanely expensive. You may not be "rich" by some definitions to afford that, but you're definitely making good money and most likely really bad at managing it.

I was materialistic in high school and I cringe thinking about those days. These people actually have fully developed brains and are still this way though.
dude i am in my 30s and i have friends who live influencer-based lives but they dont even post to social media. they also complain that they'll never be able to retire. imo doing those two things when you're young isnt cringe. be young and stupid with your money. it starts getting sad when you have been working for 15 years and have no money because you spend it all on frivolous things and then complain about being broke
If you can afford it, it's much better to save some for a rainy day and for retirement. Also leaving investments and/or a home for your children or close friend/relatives.
People who can save substantial amounts of Money already do. Poor families are WAYYY better at budgeting than middle class families. They simply dont earn enough. If one household earns 2000 Dollar a month, they can barely save 100 Dollar a month which amounts to 1200 Dollar a year. So you may think "cool, Just keep going :) " but ONE broken TV, ONE broken washing machine or ONE broken PC and the Money is GONE so you start back at square one. A household that earns, lets say 10.000 Dollar \ month, can EASILY Budget, and open a savings Account while also investing 500 Dollar or more in an Investment Fund. Thats why all the Investment advice you see is specifically aimed to middle class and upper middle class people. Because they are the ones with the Money and the finfluencers and banks want it.
My dad bought a modest house while all his friends were buying huge places with all the bells and whistles. He has a good job so I always wondered why he never reached higher. I asked him one day why he didn’t buy a bigger home like his friends and he told me he didn’t want to be house poor like all his buddies. That talk made me realize that going into debt to show off is not worth it.
Went to a Waldorf School, this shit never happened despite a lot of kids wearing designer brands. In hindsight, I'm glad that despite being poor, my mom cared enough to send me to a school were brands didn't matter. Got bullied for my height and paleness instead 😂
@@wiltheavatar It's 100% true. People that complain about being broke all the time are the same ones buying 500 dollar designer sneakers and wristwatches they absolutely don't need or buying a new 85'000 dollar car instead of buying a used 12'000 dollar used car just for bragging rights because they're insecure.
This is 💯 accurate. I went to a high end store in Dallas right when everyone got their stemmies.... The shoe area was ransacked and looked like Walmart on black Friday and the people in there, you know for a fact, can't afford $1000 shoes. This is why I don't believe throwing money at things because it doesn't fix the problem at all, it enhances it. Instead of saving or investing their money, they're buying designer shoes and purses
"you're bound to come across an influencer that seemingly has a better life than you" If they had a better life they wouldn't be posting about it on instagram instead of coping

This is what people need to understand about those who want to sell you the ultimate secret to making money. Unless the secret is the very act of selling that 'secret' to gullible people, they would be busy using it instead.
The thing about all the private stuff like jets is that actual rich people have them to keep a low profile. People think that stealth wealth is a new trend, but rich people have been doing that forever.
The irony is that the people who do quiet luxury now are only doing it to appear rich. They did all the flashy brands now someone told them that that's not how the rich dress so they dress that way now. People with money have always dressed according to the times, if it was beneficial to impress and dazzle then they would, if it could get you killed then they didn't. There are kings that wouldn't have been respected had they not dressed as what the public expected them to look like same on the other hand, there were king who lived and dressed in such opulence while the public was poor that the public revolted and killed the royals. And besides that throughout time there were always rich people who dressed more modest and others that didn't. Rich people aren't a monolith, what's funny is thinking they are and then changing yourself to what you think they are.
There is a line between cheap stuff that is inconvenient because of bad quality and decent/good quality which will make it more comfortable , but you will have to pay more for it. When going into luxury, it goes back to inconvenient, Luxus items are a burden, it breaks down , is hard to repair and you will always try to never damage it
Old money vs new money. Old money will typically buy items that are expensive because of the high quality. Often brands you’d never heard of or custom stuff. New money buys the “luxury” brands that are like 95% marketing.
@@kielhawkins9529 And according to some statistics, the luxury industry as a whole lives off the poor and middle class. The actual rich have their own separate market sector supplying them, brands with no brand visible, bespoke tailors and so forth
@@kielhawkins9529Yep. Old money people rewear clothes because having the piece itself matters more. New money follows the wasteful Kardashian model of expensive sht that has one use tops before getting accumulated for the dustbin. Most of it won't even get resold. @@padarousou truth. Until I found an $80 t shirt that was actually amazing. No clue what the brand was but that was my favorite t-shirt for ten years. That’s when I realized there’s $80 tshirts that are quality, and $80 tshirts that are marketing. And the former is actually incredible.
A very wealthy person once told me there are two types of people. Ones who tell you how much something cost, and those who tell you how good of a deal they got.
@@joshsmith7033 If your buddy shows up in a new truck and you say hey nice truck and he says "ya man i paid 100k for it" vs saying "yeah I got a great deal on it" is not the same thing to me. Might be to you i suppose.
17:59 Can confirm: being fit, with shoulder definition, waist and chest/back muscles = nearly all shirts just sit so much better. Esp if they are small enough to be tight but not too tight, definatly makes me go from like an avarge 6 face to an 8 (general feedback I have gotten over the years). I would have to say though, the quaility of the shirt is no longer in the price tag, but choice of material and stitching. So you can easily find a good low cost shirt that will last a while, and the muscles make it look good. I still suggest getting slim fit, as its not a good look for a guy with a blouse...
If you really like branded clothes, buy them off-season like buy summer cloth in the winter vice versa for the summer. You save a lot of money from off-season sales and end of line stuff.

It is. People shit on cheap living in missouri but it's amazing. When you hear gun shots it's not because someone's getting murdered(usually). I can't see my neighbors house but we still look out for each other property. I've lived all over the world, several counties, in cities and rural..and rural wins everytime. Step outside for instant therapy. The simple life is better.
I have 6 acres of property in the woods in Maine that I bought from my step-dad after my mom passed. I used to hate it here growing up because it's so quiet and secluded - which is the exact reason I love it now. It's not a big house, it's not fancy, and it needs a lot of work. But it's mine, and no one is around to bother me.
Really not that uncommon for deals like that to exist between individuals or companies. Most companies do not have the need for a private jet every day of the year there usually isn’t daily jet trips unless your dealing with a billion dollar nation wide of international corporation. And private jets tend to be large investments that are hard to get your money back out of, so splitting the cost with other companies or individuals helps make the decision easier. A key word of thumb is that the rich tend to figure out ways to get other people to spend their money on making them wealthier. Most rich people can afford to just start a new business, but they’ll usually still take on business partners and get loans and such when starting the business, because they would rather risk losing someone else’s money than their own.
@@mattkurek9259 Loans can be a good risk mitigation tool, but taking on partners is often also about getting buy in and strategic partnerships that will benefit the underlining business.
My home town in the Scottish highlands is surrounded by private shooting/fishing estates and the like so I've seen a whole lot of the really wealthy. One of the richest permanent residents lived in a reasonable house (just 10 bedrooms) on the edge of town, he had a cook, a cleaner and an aide. If you saw him in the street however he looked like a older guy wearing patched/scuffed clothing and being extremely amiable like a nice grandpa (unless he also went past in his rolls royce blowing his cover). The truly rich buy what they need and get the most cost effective - they seldom care about image when it comes to their day to day lives. Oh and when the town wanted to make a local museum he immediately just bought them a nice building and gave them the deeds without any expectation of being lauded, indeed he even refused to have his name on the project. The majority of the wealthy I've interacted with are quite down to earth, its the wannabees that cause all the fuss.

I am humored by people focusing on materialistic things as a perception of value. You can look well off without spending a lot, or even anything at all. Like I got a PC setup that is on paper valued at $7K. However, I spent like less than $900 actually building it. All 5 of my Dell 144hz 1440p monitors were from a office surplus sale each going for $20. My Lian Li tower is from a college kid moving out, and 55” desk is from a GoodWill that doesn’t realize height adjustable desks are very expensive. The only thing I bought brand new were the SSD and hard drives.

There are good brands, where you pay for quality and then there are "fashion brands". Salomon shoes OBLITERATE Gucci or whatever fashion brand in quality (and for a lot less). Casio demolishes ANY "fashion" brand watch at any price point etc. Generally a good rule is to buy X from a reputable X maker company. Not a company, which sells you a "lifestyle", instead of a great product for a fair price.

19:30 Yeah, that's what kids do. But if you were lucky like me and you get amazing friends when you were a kid, it changes a whole lot. I can vividly remember it until now. Back when I was 8, my family was poor and I rarely get toys for present, even for my birthdays. But whenever I went to a birthday that my childhood friends had, I remember that they would have these amazing action figures that you can see on the cable channels they had at home. One day, kids from a far away block were teasing me about having "poor people toys" but my friends jumped in and acted like they were returning their expensive toys to me and thanked me for "letting them borrow my toys". That immediately shut up those other kids and went on along not looking at me. After that, they always lent me their toys even after we played and I will always return them before going home. One of them even gave me one of his collectibles and said, "What do you mean? That one's yours." I deeply miss those childhood friends, man. I wish I stayed in touch with them but this was the time before smartphones were a thing, so I never got a chance to know how they were doing after all these years.
I have grown up in a working class area here in England and moved out to a middle class area. Both sides have something in common and that is wanting to appear richer than what they really are while getting themselves in debt and not being able to afford the basic bills in their home and blaming the government (partly true) and the country for their life going down hill. The middle class might have a little bit more money but they also fall to the image of appearing rich and thinking they are closer in image to the upper class when the upper class see them just the same as the working class. For me personally if my rent is paid and the food cupboards and fridge is full as well as the gas and electric then I’m very happy and I feel rich. If I can afford to treat myself (books or a game) at the end of those bills then it’s nice but doing that every month and wasting my money always left a sour taste in my mouth. I hate wasting money. I’d rather save it towards a nice trip with me and my husband somewhere or a nice dinner together. I’ve never been into the theme of looking rich despite many in my family acting like this.
When I was young my dad would laugh at my Head Teacher (back in Primary School) as she would shop in Lidl with a Mark's and Spencer bag 😂😂 For the type of person she was she deserved the ridicule.

Yeah most anyone in my social/family circle would cringe if i tried to flex something expensive. Its all about how much you got off on clearance. And guess what? We're all living pretty comfortably too.

That's what I've been thinking. All these instagram girls looking like they have millions of dollars posting videos in a big ass house or lavish vacation. I'm here wondering...Man, are they really that rich..?
One thing you forgot. Rich people dont try to flex with clothes. Because you cant flex on someone with 10k purse who owns 15 milion homes. The same way you cant flex with 50 dolar cup on people who make 100k a year. I will be not impressed by your iphone if i can right now buy severeal of them if i wanted.
Yeah but at least they are functional. You can make income off of making music or playing sessions, and then if you had to they only ever increase in value. So that’s more like an actual investment than a simple hobby

“buying an expensive thing won’t make you happy” depends on whether it gives you a novel experience. I bought an expensive-ass sportbike last year, and the happiness ROI has been amazing. something like this is well worth those fat stacks if it brings you long-term happiness in the form of a novel experience. having a birkin bag or whatever definitely won’t do the same thing, because it’s still only a bag you put your things in, it’s not a new experience other than being able to flex with it.
Generally in Denmark and Europe, showing off wealth is considered RUDE as we value modesty and equality. Most of us believe in being humble and don't like making others feel bad or envious, and sees it as someone being crass and classless if they do. I'm half Chinese, growing up in China, Beijing in particular, we can understand that money and appearances of wealth are an integral part of Chinese culture, which extends to many other Asian nations as well. But in Beijing there is a very old saying, "Look rich no matter how poor to get". This is really an ancient saying. Because appearances are SO important there and in all of Asia, if you look rich, then the leaders will think you are more competent and will give you better results and will be more likely give you a promotion, etc. This is similar to the saying we have here in America, success begets success. But now we see people in China buying LV and Gucci (which in reality are only entry level luxury brands), but they live on the street. We also see a trend where Chinese people will borrow expensive clothes to look like they come from good families to attract a good husband or wife, but actually they are poor or from rural communities. It's quite interesting.

It kind of frustrates me as well as I often try to deprogram my boomer aged mother. "Tell me what it does, stop telling me how much it costs you. If it causes you distress price wise, it wasn't a good purchase" is what I often tell her when it comes to her purchases. Now while I myself have a leather addiction, I only buy if it fulfills 3 criteria : 1) The material is interesting, new or really nice. 2) The price is right for craftsmanship/material and there is little to no upcharge for branding and 3) I can see myself using it for a long time to come. As for how I determine the price is right? If I can immediately repair the gap in disposable income caused by my purchase within the next month, or it's around less than 3% of my total cash on hand, I consider it a justifiable purchase. I admit I don't manage to adhere to this rule 100% of the time as certain functional items like some of my boots would end up being worn a lot less than my go to choices because frankly, some purchases are just plain superior to previous purchases and I'm at the age where you thank the stars for good footwear. Hilariously, some do hate me for non-stop bragging about finding a good deal. I'll brag about how little money I managed to spend to get something I want rather than the other way around. Hilariously, my idea of an ideal luxurious life is the one other guy on youtube who lives out on his own land and has a pitbull, a racoon and a coyote living together as pets.
17:45 Exactly lol. I'm known for wearing cheap stuff, not because I want to stand out but because I just buy what's comfortable to me. The best set of shirts (and I can't find shirts with normal thin collars anymore) I bought was 7 years ago in New Yorker store. They were beautiful blue monocolor €3 and €5 shirts, I bought like €120 of them and I'm still rotating that batch to this day, not because I don't want to buy new ones but because I can't find any new ones which don't have a collar that chokes you or chest that is made for anorexic men. Anyways, my point to my friends was (especially girls) that I still look better in those shirts than most other people in designer shirts simply because I'm ripped. All "designer" shirts for men are literally ultra oversized T-shirts with "short" sleeves that cover your elbow. And there is usually room for 2-3 people inside. Literally everyone who wears hem looks like a caricature.
Not sure if it’s related but I’ve got mild autism and even in school, whenever anybody would show off their new expensive branded clothes I’d just chuckle, half the time I’d think the design and quality was worse than what I’d be wearing in my goth/hippie combo
brands like Gucci aren't really what actually wealthy people use... they're aimed at people who want to pretend to be rich
Poor people buy materials to make their own clothes, "rich" people buy brand clothes, rich people pay poor people to make them clothes.
I tried to explain this to a German guy in another thread. He couldn't understand and insisted that these brands are only marketed to rich people.
I've grown up looking for the best quality at the lowest price. No brands.

If you can afford it, it's much better to save some for a rainy day and for retirement.
Also leaving investments and/or a home for your children or close friend/relatives.
If you don't spend it you can pass it on as generational wealth... its what actual rich people do
People who can save substantial amounts of Money already do.

The thing about all the private stuff like jets is that actual rich people have them to keep a low profile. People think that stealth wealth is a new trend, but rich people have been doing that forever.
Besides, if your flash _stealth wealth_ as such, is it still stealth?
Not even stealth, just having a special lane which most people will never enter so they can avoid traffic and scrutiny.
I worked for a company where the prez told me they pretty much “timeshare” their private jet with 10 other companies. It’s a fraction of the cost.

Once she realized it wasn't about the cup but about "fitting in" she quickly lost interest to wanting an over priced cup in her words "Ohhh that's dumb".

Yeah, that's what kids do. That one's yours."
I deeply miss those childhood friends, man.
I have never understood it. Even as a little kid, it has always felt nicer having money in my pocket. It has never been, "can I afford it?" It is, I could and I don't want it or care. Most people create their own financial stress. The basics are crazy cheap and everything else is stupid.
Class isn’t about money
@@Serendipity92x Sorry this is late but the bag perfectly sums up my comment nicely lmao i know people like this !
I like showing off my shoes to friends. I am extremely proud that I managed to find some shoes on discount for $2 that were basically my size.
Yeah most anyone in my social/family circle would cringe if i tried to flex something expensive. Its all about how much you got off on clearance. And guess what? We're all living pretty comfortably too.
$2 shoes!?
@@christianalanwilson434 same. people in my family would be flexing something cool for a cheap price
I can't imagine needing to "look" wealthy.
Makes no sense to me. I was taught not to flaunt your wealth it only causes problems and see this now I think it's becoming more and more true than it already was
I can imagine getting robbed because my vanity needed me to “look” wealthy.
Cause you aren't a raging narrassist
Seems self-explanatory to me. Influencers sell dreams, just like athletes. Most people dream about being wealthy.
Those people are weak and they need as much attention as they can get for what they're lacking. I honestly can't stand phony people.
"It's so dumb to spend money on something that you have no need of." I was thinking while at the same time looking for guitar nr 134 and 135.
Yeah but at least they are functional. You can make income off of making music or playing sessions, and then if you had to they only ever increase in value. So that’s more like an actual investment than a simple hobby
You do need hobbies so that's fine.
it's a hobby for your enjoyment and not to impress people on the internet
A fool and their money is easily parted

100% I now want a hermit house building set of videos, just like with games Asmon will just watch as builders do the work and talk about how cool it is!
Truely wealthy and elitist (and even locals) know that understated is the way to.
I remember being 6 years old whining to my parents that I wanted some pokémon cards.
Then they bought a pokemon card-maker software and in an instant I realized how ridiculous my whining for those overpriced pieces of cardboard was.
But I wasn't done being an idiot just yet. Pogs, I need em'. Goggos, I want em'. Even marbles was something I had to have.
My father almost went nuts dismantling my wants, but he succeded in the end and drilled some common value sense into my head, lol
What made it all click for you? I'm working on my kids 😂
@@Francisco-Danconia It actually turned out to be hand-me-downs that gave me a sense of how this crap has been around for more years than I've lived.
Goggos? My older brother had enough for two full grocery bags in the basement. Pogs? Big sister had 4 or 5 tubes stacked with them from her elementary years. Marbles? My damn grandpa dug them out of his garage!
Somehow make a kid realize new things are old things in new packaging made me realize the futility of buying any of it - as I had to use my allowance to get anything if whining didn't work.
@@Thugblader92 lovely thank you for the explanation
That takes me back. The big thing that got me was amiibo. I went to GameStop so many times that I knew the exact price to the cent including tax. I must have spent $600-700+ over a few years. In the middle of that I started getting into Pokémon cards. I was oh no something else to take all my money. That didn't last long. $4 for one pack of pretty cardboard rectangles was a bit steep. Now I hate spending money on useless junk. I don't like having a bunch of things anymore. (no one sees the 1400+ marbles sitting on the self behind me. Those don't count lol)
Except the pokemon cards could have actually been a good investment. I regret giving mine away
That mom taught her kid the wrong lesson.
Congrats, your kid will grow up to be completely shallow and not think for herself.
You should have taught her that she shouldn't care what other people think, she liked the cup, she should go with that SHE likes.
Disagree. That kid will probably not care in 10 years. It's just an immediate thing. I was never given anything like this and I was bullied to hell and now I feel it's made me worse lol. When a kid's young, their image matters more than when they're older so help them out a bit. This isn't a debate, there's no lifelong lesson here and stop trying to make it seem like there is.
@@alicerain8686 Everything you learn as a child is a lifelong lesson, whether you specifically recall it or not.
I don't think putting your own kid into "so now You will be all alone in classroom and all the girls will make fun of you until you graduade". What lesson would it be? To be depressed and insecure for the whole life? She can always show them "I have that one too buy I prefer this cute one" and they won't call her poor for the rest of the school
@@SaltyCatlingyou don't get over an insecurity by feeding it. This is not up for debate, this is a fact.

With that kind of money, you could get a blowback airsoft rifle with a tracer unit that simulates muzzle flashes, and maybe some optics as well.

You can buy "Fashion" cloth brands in certain countries for 5-10x smaller price. They are not fake but its just b-grade stuff that has minor fault. Some products they forgot to remove the original price tags and production country is totally wrong.

36, no kids, takes up pickleball to hide the growing anxiety and depression
I am convinced that part of the process for joining OTK is shit talking the existing members, and having them shit talk you just to make sure you can take a punch, and clap back, and aren't a little bitch haha.

Usually women are the biggest spenders of the economy either directly or indirectly (spousal money)
It kind of frustrates me as well as I often try to deprogram my boomer aged mother. "Tell me what it does, stop telling me how much it costs you. If it causes you distress price wise, it wasn't a good purchase" is what I often tell her when it comes to her purchases.
Now while I myself have a leather addiction, I only buy if it fulfills 3 criteria :
1) The material is interesting, new or really nice.
2) The price is right for craftsmanship/material and there is little to no upcharge for branding and
3) I can see myself using it for a long time to come.
