The Zuckmeister owns a 1400 acre property in Hawaii worth where he’s building a $260M bunker besides the mansion so yeah Zuck is not so frugal I’d say. How many California properties? Side by side or spread all over are still expensive as hell. Frugal my ass.
Probably a drop in the bucket for him, it's more wasting a large percentage of your money sort of thing. Like how poor people will buy designer just to appear as wealthy to other poor people
To me it seems more like they are scared to see that the population is realizing who is really responsible for the current deplorable state of the world, so they want to improve their image, like "Look at us, we are like you! Being rich doesn't make you happy", the same old story all over again...
So you are mad that the dude is providing lots of jobs and builds something that could be useful in the future? And that he doesn't spend money on overpriced stuff instead?
Zuckerberg's "same tshirt(s)" are custom made by Brunello Cucinelli, a Italian Designer brand. Zuckerberg owns like 20 of these shirts in two, three colors. These cost 300 bucks a pop minimum, and the brand is all the rage among the Tech billionaire types who want to cosplay as "one of us" but still want to wear high-end shit. Just because billionaires like him are walking around in tshirts and sweatshirts doesn't mean that they're shopping at T.J. Maxx. They wear these things to blend in, be comfortable, or appear frugal. Most of the time, they're NOT wearing these things because they are actually frugal and "just like one of us." Don't fall for this bullshit.
Buddy zuckerberg is worth how much again like 70 billion? Isn’t it kinda frugal to spend $500 on some simple t shirts when he could he spending thousands? 😂
@@Kooaid-9 That just highlights how obscenely rich he is. At that level of net worth, that kind of relative comparison just falls apart. Let's say the Zuckster is worth around $177 billion. That's around 1,060,515 times more than the median American net worth of $166,900. So to put that into perspective, he can: - buy a $5.3 million t-shirt and it will be the equivalent of an average American buying a $5 t-shirt - take a $1.96 million bath and it will be the equivalent of an average American taking a $1.85 (utilities plus a $1.25 bath bomb) bath. You might say, "exactly my point!!!" But again, let's think about this some more. He can take a $1.96 MILLION bath. To illustrate how obscene that is, he can take a bath in Dom Pérignon (in an average American bathtub) and it will only cost him around 1/29th of that amount. In relative terms, if the Zuckster is taking Dom Pérignon baths every week, he's 29 times more "frugal" than the average American taking a weekly bath. I don't know about you, but I don't think the term "Dom Pérignon bath" belongs in a same sentence with the word "frugal."

I am grateful I meet Ingvar Kamprad a few times. He was such a inspiration and genuine a great person. Every time he meet co-workers at IKEA he always hugged them when he said hi. He told the logistical staff to offer coffee and a sandwich to the truck drivers that delivered gods to the stores. And once we was eating food at a gathering, and he totally decided to sit beside me and the store co-worker instead of the leadership of the store. We small talked about everyday life and he told me that he hated the paper cup that we offered in the bistro since they was not "washable" Also the farm he lived on is a wonderful place which I got to heard a lot of stories about his early life. This is just a few things that I remember from him and I am so grateful of them.
I work for IKEA too right now, it's a really solid company to work for, some genuinely good values run the place, which you don't really see from global businesses that earn 9 figure numbers daily.
I also remember the headlines when he blew up visiting one of his stores when he found out they charged people for a refill of coffee. Guy was a class act 100%
@@duplat666 I don't think you get how money scaling works. There are 219,000 IKEA employees as of 2023. Ingvar lead IKEA for 38 years, between 1976 and 2014. His net worth at death was 58.7B. So if he kept 2B and gave away the other 56.7B, it would be about 6000 dollars a year for his employees. That's 56.7B / 219K employees / 38 years. Now you might argue IKEA was smaller earlier on so it would be more for those earlier employees. But at the same time, if he didn't keep his wealth and grow it, it wouldn't have become 56.7B, it would have been less for him to give away as it would be going in employees pockets and not being invested back to be given away. Overall, the argument falls flat. There is no scenario where he could pay his employees "100x more".

Compared to what laptop or PC you could buy with a price of a Mac, even if it's the cheapest and the year was 2012-2013, there is no difference in buying a cheap Mac or a big bucks LED TV. It would have been surprising if he would buy a 500-800$ laptop or PC...

Shit, even if it's a wooden shack with some two meter walls three meters of space around the shack and a puddle for a moat, it's good enough. Context: I realised after typing this comment, a great deal of people probably have never heard this saying. "An Englishman's home is his castle." - It means that in his house he is the king and he holds all the responsibility, his noblesse oblige towards his guests and family. Also, it's for others to keep in mind; if you go to someone's house, be nice. People live in different ways and sure as shit isn't your place to criticize and disrespect someone in their own home.

You also gotta realize that Toyota cars (especially during the 2000s) are super reliable. I drive an Toyota corolla from like 2005 that I bought second hand and had over 150k miles driven or something, and it still works perfectly and doesn't empty my fuel really quick
You have to keep in mind that a lot of these "humble" public images are often carefully curated by PR firms. Secretly they live very rich and lavish lifestyles, but broadcast an image of being average so as to remain "relatable" and to prevent people from revolting against their massive estates.
Expensive cars are actually a downgrade. They break more often, and attract more vandalism. It's just more practical to own a medium-priced car, even with a trillion on the bank.
i could make a case that if you grow up really poor and then come to fame, that you try and treat yourself to some "stuff" just to see how it feels like to have a nice car or whatever. But quickly it should become clear to you that after you get used to it its not special anymore, it does not provide happyness and does not make you feel fulfilled. thats when you're most likely to say "alright, been there, done that" and go back to just normal stuff.
Warren Buffett is another good one. For 50+ years, he goes to work and drops by the same McDonalds. If the stock market is up that day, he treats himself to the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. If the market is down, he goes with the cheaper sausage mcmuffin.
That's simply the most adult and grown up attitude you can have - to understand, that money doesn't make you happy at all (even though having not enough money to pay your basic bills makes you unhappy). I love all of these ppl for exactly that attitude!
One of my friends played basketball with Adam Sandler a few years back. He said he was a completely normal guy who just happens to be famous. On a side note, I used ot work in a hospital lab for years and also had morgue duties. I used to see dead people on a daily basis as well as an autopsy every 1-3 weeks, sometime multiple a week, for years. Having that experience really makes you realize what’s important in life. You can’t take your money with you. At the end, you will be just another body on that cold metal stretcher being pushed into the fridge. Life is all about the experiences/memories you make and the love that you fill it with. Once your basic needs are covered, more money isn’t going to give you a more valuable life. I’d personally still be driving my civic because it’s a great fun car, living in a home that’s no bigger than what I could personally manage, would still be doing all the yard work and fixing things around the house myself because that’s what I enjoy. Plus, my home is my sanctuary, last thing I’d want is for strangers to be on my property. Hell I’d likely build the majority of my home on my own and only hire people when extra hands/heavy equipment is needed. I also do the same thing as Mark when it comes to my daily wear, it’s wonderful. Makes laundry easier and I don’t have to think about what I’m going to wear since it’s always the same comfortable clothes. I would be flying first class though, hate the cramped seating and I’m a skinny dude.

Ingvar Kamprand was known to be a very nice and polite person, but also very frugal. Thats one of the reasons why IKEA became so great - he would well into his late 80's still go around in various IKEAs and find things to make cheaper, not worse mind you, but cheaper. And never at the expense of the workers. He would look at an item and go "can we not make the screws ourselves?" Then make sure the same screw could be used in as many products as possible. Fucking legend.

Toyota's are surprisingly unbreakable. We got a second hand 2008 Toyota Hilux with 75 000km on the clock in 2011. Other than general maintenance, haven't had any major issues with it even after another 300 000km and being used for construction work and camping out bush. The only thing in my opinion that could be problematic is safety bc some people are always weird, especially around celebrities (at least with the public plane)

Facts: I've owned a 2007 Toyota Sienna a 2015 Toyota Sienna a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid and a 2013 Toyota Prius Touring. Each one of those cars went over 300,000 miles before I either traded in or sold them. The 07 Sienna I gave to a neighbor with kids and other than the water pump being replaced it's still running on it's way to 400,000 miles. Toyota makes cars/vans/trucks that are built to last. And because of the awesome trade deal with Japan Toyotas are manufactured right here in America and provides thousands of jobs for Americans.
6:57 They are making this much amount of money since the betting sites started getting directly involved with the outcomes to best fit their profit. And this is the truth that nobody wants to talk about.
Also, a lot of people are just resentful of success because of their own lives/shortcomings. They start projecting traits onto celebrities, and rich people in general. It’s similar to how a fat guy might assume fit gym bros in loose tank tops are judgmental egotistical showoffs , meanwhile it’s just good for air circulation .
14:15 I hate how people like this are perceived as "frugal". Being frugal implies self-reliance; this is just being a parasite. An example of being frugal would be splitting the cost of food with someone, not going around mooching "free" food someone else had to pay.
Volvo's v40s are tanks on wheels. Reliable, plenty of space and a good fuel/power ratio. I would still be driving mine today if I hadn't been hit by a car on the motorway at 160. The car was hit in such a way that the rear end broke out 26 rollovers later, the axle was broken, the gearbox and the engine were gone and the body was completely dented. I was left with whiplash and a few scratches from broken glass but nothing else. I call that indestructible. This Swedish tank has probably saved my entire life. In a plastic ball like a Smart I would certainly be 6 feet under now.
Living your best life is what life is about, cause after you die you get claim to nothing that you own currently in the afterlife, idk I'm not a philosopher
Love the highly educated point most of all. College and degrees are so overrated and most don't really need them nor should. A lot of jobs can really be done if more employers just gave most genuine, honest and hardworking people a chance. For Christ sake, more than half the people in my field don't have a degree whatsoever and yet they still pull in $100K+ easily and are some of the most incredible humans around!
One thing that should be mentioned here. The sentiment of frugal rich is nice, but the reality is that the richer you are the more your frugality becomes bad for the economy. During absolute classism in Europe, it was understood that the rich had to spend money, because if they did not then the lower classes suffer for those resources not returning to the ecosystem. Billionaires are actually very bad for the economy as a whole. Nice people, but when you have a billion dollars frugality is irresponsible.

Just because billionaires like him are walking around in tshirts and sweatshirts doesn't mean that they're shopping at T.J. Maxx. They wear these things to blend in, be comfortable, or appear frugal. @@Kooaid-9
That just highlights how obscenely rich he is. At that level of net worth, that kind of relative comparison just falls apart.
Let's say the Zuckster is worth around $177 billion. That's around 1,060,515 times more than the median American net worth of $166,900.
So to put that into perspective, he can:
- buy a $5.3 million t-shirt and it will be the equivalent of an average American buying a $5 t-shirt
- take a $1.96 million bath and it will be the equivalent of an average American taking a $1.85 (utilities plus a $1.25 bath bomb) bath.

It’s all about making yourself seem humble
@@balsyprick6764 Yeah i would be annoyed over that too. I think it is disgusting to charge the workers for coffee.
So why accumulate all that money? I don't understand.
Why don't pay like 100x more for his workers and be like with 2 billions "only"?

Life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated or being perfect. It's about being
real, humble, and kind.
Look at this dude claiming to know the meaning of life
I think high education is very important. In my opinion of course. Be real be humble and pursue knowledge.
That's all there is to it. Gotta love the people who truly get it.
Honestly I wouldnt replace that Tacoma either
13:33 - Zuck wears custom fit Brunello Cucinelli t-shirts worth $400 a piece. That is high quality luxury item. No LV, D&G, Balenciaga or any other "expensive" brand making crap in China for middle class.
0:42 he has private yachts ..
I think the greatest feeling is living comfortably within your means. It’s not about having a lot of stuff, it’s about not worrying about money that is the goal.
DiCaprio also has a yacht on which he casualy enjoy his time with top supermodels.
You never been poor if you haven't cut open a tube of toothpaste to scrape out what's left.
You could afford toothpaste?
@@classictholo548 you still had teeth
9:44 That's not really that amazing, that kind of scenery is super common in England. You're probably just not used to seeing castles or grass.
That's probably the most humble living out of everyone else on this list.
A lot of the richest people got rich because they always live like they're poor.
A lot of the poorest people stay poor because they spend like they're rich.
Yeah, the Zuc with his $300 million mega yacht.... real frugal lol
Asmon made the best Toyota ad concept. :)
6:37- It can even survive the belly of a dragon, just watch that WoW commercial about it from 2008.

There's this lady whose in debt because she bought 2 Teslas in 1 year. She makes 170k+ a year.
"who drive like they poor" Owns several prius.
This is where the arguments already hold no ground. Poor people do not have several prius at same time.
