Hell, this game made me want to *VISIT* Tsushima irl. Current pandemic postponed those plans, but I've been fortunate enough to remain employed, so I took the time to save up even more for this.
The glorified game just to let down another game because people are hypocrites and they don't like a story, so they have to spread shit on a game. Hypocrisy.
I'm Japanese-American and when YongYea said "Tsushima, dedicated to the deities Hikohohodemino Mikoto and Toyotamabime"... and said "ommygod I butchered that." I laughed so hard. lol It's okay.
Ya know, I'm just wondering on the website it called the shrine "Watadumi Shrine" but I'm assuming that would be written as わたづみ神社 pronounced Watazumi, or archaically Watadzumi. I never learned Romaji so seeing that threw me off
It surely did put a smile on my face: As soon as I read the header, I went "Oh, I gotta see this!" It makes me so happy to see these things happening, I feel like my day just got a lot better :)
Torii Gates are meant to be a bridge of sorts between our world and the gods. Traditional custom, as I understand it, is to bow before walking through one, and to always walk along the edge of the path, to make way for the gods who walk alongside us. My Sensei told me about it once and I might have misheard some of it, but I think that's what they're for.
I should note: the gaming community is insanely generous. EVE Online players have raised shit-tons of money for disaster relief/red cross many times. I'm glad other variants of gamers just put aside that DLC for a donation to something serious and just grind out that "want" for later.
i have respect for EVE players, coming from Anarchy Online myself, where it could take a good two years to get a proper pvp character equipped and leveled.
Although I have certain issues with the game itself, and didn't enjoy it as much as a lot of people seem to, I can really appreciate this kind of positivity surrounding it. SP and Sony's support for the game is great, and people coming together to do this kind of generous, kind and wholesome thing is very heartwarming.
I always said the Player's Choice award was the most important one, and this just seals that deal. Really shows how awesome Ghost of Tsushima's playerbase is. Only a truly great game can inspire that amount of selflessness.
Ehh, I wouldn’t go that far...but there are some good people in this world. We need more people to give more than they take from the world. It doesn’t take much to give a damn about a good cause. It just takes someone to actually want to make this world a better place. I feel that the world will improve tenfold if we embrace this idea. Love your history and culture Japan. Much respect from an American.
@@CitrusRev It should. Sony just needs to stop being greedy asses and just release their games on PC just like Microsoft. It didnt really hurt them putting horizon zero dawn on PC. I would love playing the Ratchet and Clank trilogy games on PC. just think of the mod support
It's really nice hearing some ACTUAL good news regarding gaming/games and good news snippets around the world. I feel more positive about this year thanks to this news, so thank you @YongYea for the great news :)
I really was blown away by GoT. Easily gets a place in my personal top 10 games I've ever played. Beautiful environments, a map that doesn't assault you with icons, letting you discover and do things in a truly flowing and organic way, and the combat was simple enough that it wasn't stressful, but challenging enough so that it wasn't braindead. Just such an incredible, well-crafted game.
I had heard this already but don't think it is a story that will ever not bring a smile to my face. Not just because it is the gaming community coming together, not just because it was in a time which is hard for people to find any spare money. But because it also kills the narrative of games leading to voilence and other bad stuff here we have a game so beloved and rich with story people wanted to find out more about another cultural place, they found it to be in trouble and rallied to help for no other reason than a story had moved them. A fantastic story and a great reminder about why story comes first not ideology if you want to have a much bigger impact on your audience.
@@MrScharleyXV Well Cyberpunk tried to be everything and work on every system possible, and suddenly also on next gen consoles. And thats what it has become, a bloody unfinished mess.
@@krivdik Yep. They should have focused on PC and then maybe port it to next gen... like in a year or two (maybe with multiplayer component or something).
This makes me so happy. A lot of the shrines in Japan are falling into disrepair due to financial difficulties. If a shrine isn't a popular tourist destination they often don't have the money needed for repairs like this. Seeing a video game inspire fans to help out is wonderful.
Yeah it's a shame that the economic growth of Japan (or lack thereof) over the last few decades has had a negative impact on so many aspects of its culture. Let alone social welfare, elderly care, custodial rights etc.
Well done to all the gamers who contributed to this worth-while project. We don't have nearly enough instances where we can point to something and say: see, we can have a positive effect on the world. You guys have made me one proud member of the gaming community today.

well to remarks a few on Torii(鳥居): it’s a symbol of dimension gateway between the human world and the sacred place ,typically found in shinto shrine. people made donations as a form of gratitude towards the god(s) said to resides in the shrine for their respective blessings. donors name (or organization) usually are engraved on the torii but in this case since its a lot of donors so it probably can’t be engraved in the gate itself but on a large memorial stone in place of it.

Hell, this game made me want to *VISIT* Tsushima irl. Current pandemic postponed those plans, but I've been fortunate enough to remain employed, so I took the time to save up even more for this.
The *true* game of the year creating something beautiful and not being devisive with the community.
The glorified game just to let down another game because people are hypocrites and they don't like a story, so they have to spread shit on a game.
Hypocrisy.
@@gamer-px5cu those "hypocrites" sound pretty chill to me ngl.
Finally, some good fucking food.
This heartwarming story has made my shitty day much, MUCH better :)
That priest would be so happy.
So did the people of Tsushima
That's Amazing!
I don't understand why this have dislikes.
I don’t get it either. What the hell.
That’s freakin’ awesome
I'm Japanese-American and when YongYea said "Tsushima, dedicated to the deities Hikohohodemino Mikoto and Toyotamabime"... and said "ommygod I butchered that." I laughed so hard. lol It's okay.
Ya know, I'm just wondering on the website it called the shrine "Watadumi Shrine" but I'm assuming that would be written as わたづみ神社 pronounced Watazumi, or archaically Watadzumi. I never learned Romaji so seeing that threw me off
It surely did put a smile on my face: As soon as I read the header, I went "Oh, I gotta see this!"
It makes me so happy to see these things happening, I feel like my day just got a lot better :)
Non-gamers: videogames cause violence
Gamers:
Ghost Of Tsushima is one amazing and wonderful game, and now we know that the fans are the same. Long days and pleasant nights to them !
Wow...this kinda stuff gives me hope for humanity. Not only did this put a smile on my face, it brought a tear to my eye.
I did that precisely when i went temple visiting in Japan, though i did it without knowing
I should note: the gaming community is insanely generous.
EVE Online players have raised shit-tons of money for disaster relief/red cross many times.
I'm glad other variants of gamers just put aside that DLC for a donation to something serious and just grind out that "want" for later.
gaming is about grinding. these people today who complain about the grind need to go play phone games.
i have respect for EVE players, coming from Anarchy Online myself, where it could take a good two years to get a proper pvp character equipped and leveled.
This makes me proud to be a gamer.
I’m proud of this generation.
The kids will be alright
This game needs a pc port, all I have listened are awesome news related to this game.
It's not gonna get one, Sucker Punch is a Sony in house company like Naughty Dog
@@CitrusRev It should. Sony just needs to stop being greedy asses and just release their games on PC just like Microsoft. It didnt really hurt them putting horizon zero dawn on PC. I would love playing the Ratchet and Clank trilogy games on PC. just think of the mod support
@@CitrusRev ummm, Sony is releasing their games on Steam like Horizon and Death Stranding
omg, this is some great news to end my day on. Since I didn't get this video notification until night the day after you posted this...
It's really nice hearing some ACTUAL good news regarding gaming/games and good news snippets around the world. I feel more positive about this year thanks to this news, so thank you @YongYea for the great news :)
I just imagine there's a goddess surrounded by white foxes playing Ghost of Tsushima on a FoxStation5
Makes me proud to be apart gaming community when fellow gamers do things like this
Agreed..... Fancy robbing a bank?
@@sladey21 YES LET'S GO
I really was blown away by GoT.
"Some say there is one Ghost of Tsushima, but there are actually many"- my homie Gyozen.
Da boi was right
GoT(Y) is such a great game even outside of the game, that it makes me happy in spite of not owning it.
This game is everything Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t. Masterpiece
I also think that CP2077 should be PC exclusive.
But we can't get money to Reimu and her shrine. Smh.
great story, glad you covered it - this mighta slipped under my radar otherwise :)
After playing the game (and loving it), I’ve renewed my UK passport and a visit to Tsushima is now firmly number 1 on my bucket list. Number 1 was to Skydive, but I’ve already done this - I’m a British Parachute Association category 10 Skydiver with over 500 jumps. Tsushima will be getting a visit from me on my way to Tokyo (Also on bucket list). New sub, love the channel, Kindest regards from the UK.
well to remarks a few on Torii(鳥居): it’s a symbol of dimension gateway between the human world and the sacred place ,typically found in shinto shrine. people made donations as a form of gratitude towards the god(s) said to resides in the shrine for their respective blessings. donors name (or organization) usually are engraved on the torii but in this case since its a lot of donors so it probably can’t be engraved in the gate itself but on a large memorial stone in place of it.
I just started the game yesterday and, while I wish every archer burns in eternal hell fire it's still really fun.
I find them the best bit and go straight for them! Nothing like taking on 2 spear guys, 4 shield bubs and 3 archers and dodging left and right to get that nice slice on their stupid heads
@@sladey21 I can get used to dogging multiple enemys eventually but, I usually only takes a second of you get out from cover before an arrow hits you. I died soo many times just doing the mission that you get your first bow because of the elite gamer aim they have.
@@bryansuminski7543 eventually you can unlock the ability to deflect arrows.
I'm not crying you're crying!
What?.... These tissues?....i got something in my eye....yes, both eyes.
>sniffle
I'm glad to see good news in the gaming industry. We need more things like this
How amazing are the Ghost of Tsushima Fans, especially those that donated. All because of a game, that inspires and leaves a impression beyond the game its self. That is what a thoughtful and dedicate developers are meant to do, not divide or monetize to death players
Not gonna lie that’s pretty adorable
Now this is the smile I needed today. Just fuckin wholesome
