This music makes me wanna sip sweet tea on a porch overlooking the countryside in Tennessee
Lmao at the fact that I'm in Tennesee cooking pot roast sipping sweet tea on my porch is golden.

Same. 😊
I cut my potatoes and carrots the same size as in the video. I started my roast at 7 a.m. Because I read these comments, I was worried that they may be overcooked if they remained in the slow cooker for a full 10 hours on low, so I checked on the veggies at 11:00 a.m. and they were on the verge of being overcooked. Since the pot roast still had 6 more hours (on low) to cook, I had to spoon the potatoes and carrots out otherwise they would have been mush. Next time, I won't add them until the final 3 hours. Glad I checked because I would have been very upset if this dish would have been ruined.
UPDATE: After I removed the potatoes and carrots I remembered that I had a sweet potato in the fridge so I pealed, chunked and added it to the slow cooker at around 11: 45. I checked on them at 1:10 p.m. and they were completely cooked, and I removed them. So I'm guessing no more than 1 1/2 hrs (2 hrs max) is necessary for potatoes (red and sweet) and carrots and they can be added at the END of the cook time and if you have to go a little longer with them, it certainly won't hurt the meat any.
I love how you don't rush through the recipe like so many others do. Can't wait to try this.
Did you ever try it?
I did this recipe with a modification. I did not add potatoes to the slow cooker and instead - made mashed potatoes just before I removed the chuck roast and vegetables. The roast and vegetables along with the sauce in slow cooker made a very tasty gravy for the mashed potatoes!
I much prefer mashed potatoes, so I am with you on this modification. I will definitely try it.
Usually my wife does all the cooking because Im all thumbs when it comes to complex, non-"just pop it in the microwave" meals, but with this recipe and easy to follow video. My roast came out damn near perfect. Some more seasoning next time and cook for 9 1/2 hours instead of 9 and I can imagine Ill be making this dish many times over in the years to come. Thank you very much.
I'm a lazy cook. Once you get past five ingredients you begin to lose me. I mean, come, on. So I looked forward to making this recipe and I have to admit it came out great! Thanks!
Yeah, for me in my bulking stages - this is my go to meal 80% of the time.
years back, my cousin had a recipe similar to this, only thing different she added Cream of Mushroom soup, but she used a pork roast, and it was very good

Idk why I torture myself, I'm so broke and hungry I'm watching pot roast videos

TheChronic2017 I do the same thing lol
Hit me up if you're still hungry. I'll share with you, or help ya find someone to share with :)
Lmao
Join the club pal, lol.. Still, its kinda fun to watch vids like this, lol...
how can people dislike this video? I mean seriously. come on now.. u clicked on a video seeking directions to cook a beef roast. and this did just that. I guess people will dislike anything. wow. anyway, great video and thanks for the simplicity and easy break down. great video!
Those darn vegans! 138 of em!
143 now...they're multiplying!
Robert W Rogers probably people who don't like nasty instant onion soup mix.
And that suddenly makes it a bad video? Over a simple differing opinion over a freakin ingredient ! I believe she has the right to make her own meal the way she chooses. It's her video, her very own style of how she chooses to make it and can simply use whatever ingredients she decides to use. ANYWAY, that's not the point of Her video. When you understand the video and why she made it, and who she's trying to reach out too( the one's unaware of making this) and that;a exactly what she did. She did a great job at showing the directions, and made this educational and simple. JUST HOW IT SHOULD BE!
And as far as ingredients go, yes, we may all prefer different ones and most would probably end up shaking things up a bit and adding their own style.
But again, the point of the video was to show simple directions to cook it. this was not a judging contest or some "rate my dish" competition.
So for what the video is and the reason for it, once you get that straightened out, you to will realize how pathetic it is to dislike a video over silly little things. Ramble over.
PS: Beware of trolls. they're popping up everywhere. they love to hit those dislike buttons in bulk. Bunch of young and immature punk's who don't have a life off the computer. ANYWAYS....That's for an entirely other topic lmao. So. Imma hop off here and get some sleep.
Robert W Rogers no, it means people who don't want to eat msg and artificial colors and preservatives that are in the instant soup mix probably disliked this video. Some people have very bad reactions to msg. It's not very hard to make a good roast in a crockpot without using artificial ingredients. It has nothing to do with this being a "bad" video, it just means some people dislike it.
Add beef broth and it taste even better! You can find this in soup section at stores. Also, you can add a little Rosemary and/or garlic to your taste.
Yep got to have garlic and rosemary in pot roast IMO.
Made this, absolutely loved it! Will make again, so easy but so good!
Guess what ? Right now I literally got my roast cooking in my crock pot as I lay here and watch this ☺️

I watched this last week and it inspired me to buy a slow cooker. I'm an absolute dummy in the kitchen and thought I might actually be able to copy your recipe step by step.
Well....... yesterday I did it. And the result was so so amazing.
Thank you so much for uploading this video and inspiring people like me .
Thank you Annie! I feel the same way! I'm thinking about getting a crock pot! I suck at coming but as I'm learning more recipes and they come out decent, Ice been inspired to learn more in the kitchen!!
@@wellwellmymichelle If you have an oven, a slow cooker is not needed. Just get a pan that can hold the meat and veggies, cover it up with foil, and leave it in the oven at 225 degrees F or 110 degrees C for 8 to 10 hours.
I too have to comment on your terrific production values. This video is so slick. Everything in this video is on point. You have an amazing crew. Love the pacing and the voice over!
I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out amazing thanks
@allrecipes - I've made this recipe a few times and they always turn out wonderful. Making it again tonight. The kids are excited (I mean, who wouldn't be excited about pot roast right?) Thank you again.
That's wonderful! Thank you for letting us know.
This looks wonderful....love slow cooker recipes too.....so tender...thanks SO much.
I made this today for dinner. It was fabulous ! The only thing I suggest, is use as many veggies that can fit in your cooker. With the amount of beef used, there should be leftovers, so more veggies is a must !
It is so good - will be making this again before the winter is over.
LOVE making pot roast in my crockpot on really cold winter days. Best dinner if you want something warm and comforting.
Thank you for this simple yet yummy recipe!
So delicious and so easy! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Wow.. First pot roast ever and it was soooooooo good. Thanks!
Wow this video was so relaxing to watch. I never enjoyed watching a food video before like I did today ;) I can't wait to try this recipe since I just got me a crock pot.
This recipe looks so yummy, I have to try it. thanks for sharing!!
This is in my crock pot right now! Will be ready in the morning!
Cooked this the other day. Followed your very straight forward instructions, and....Absolutely Delicious. Great Video. "Bon Appetite"
Sounds good, but I would deglaze the pan (you seared the meat) with the water/stock you would add to the slow cooker to add even MORE flavor
Josh E I thought the same thing. Don’t waste a layer of flavor.
Exactly. I let the meat rest after searing and sauté a vegetable mix (celery, onion, small carrot chunks) and add some flour. This will go on the bottom of the slow cooker. De-glaze with a small amount of liquid and add seasonings of choice. Put the roast in the slow cooker with larger carrot chunks, potatoes, other vegetables and pour the liquid from your de-glazed pan over all of it. You only need a little. You will get a lot of liquid from the roast itself.
Josh E qi
Karl Rovey. That's pretty much how l do it. Sometime l add a couple tomatoes or tomato juice. Just for a change. l love how slow cooking makes the whole house smell sooo good....
I also do this but I use red wine to deglaze
Definitely our favourite way to make pot roast! yum!
Super simple and looks delicious. Gotta try it.
Thank you so much. My meal came out perfect and everyone thought I was a professional chef. I will fallow and try more.
Comes out great everytime but I add the potatoes and carrots at the last two hours of cook time so they're not over cooked but all in all its a great recipe.

Looks delicious, I must try it!!! Thank you.
Brilliant video - short, to the point and gives you all the info you need. Damn, that plating up looks amazing!
I let myself go by your recipe as this was the 1st time I have ever ate or cooked a pot roast. I vary the recipe a bit. I like better beefy onion dry soup mix. I seared meat with adobo, garlic pepper and smeared it with real garlic. To give it a great flavor. I did use beef broth but also added Cabernet wine 1/2 cup. We don't like celery so I substituted it for mushrooms. I cooked it on high for 6 hours. OMG it was so delicious and the broth was very tasteful and rich. By the time it was done it was coming apart in pieces. Thank you. Mu hubby loved it I did too. 😘👏🏼👍🏼🍷😋
I
I always put the potatoes on the bottom. It keeps them from turning dingy brown AND elevates the meat a bit.
Great suggestion!
I skip the potatoes and serve the roast over mashed potatoes from scratch instead ;)
I also like your “ get to the point direction “ right from the start. Excellent thanks again.
Agreed this slow cooker pot roast is a true winner!
when I’m hungry and there’s no food I watch these videos, make me feel nice 😆
This looks amazing! I've got some dried mushrooms and bouillon (beef and chicken), gonna rehydrate the 'shrooms in the bouillon and add that to the mix. Also gonna add some flour to the bouillon to make a gravy-like sauce. Man oh man, it sounds wonderful already! Thanx for posting, definitely gonna make this. I love simple recipes, they're easy and they inspire a person to tweak it as they like. :)
Recipe looks good, and I enjoyed the music as well. Thank you.
This came out so good!
Thank you I'm getting ready to make this now
Hey! I've got an idea. If you dislike her recipe don't use it and move on! Personally I thought it was great! Get a life people!

@@jamor2549 Thnx for that comment n couldn't have put it better myself.
That looks fantastic!
Thank you! I used this recipe as instructed and it came out delicious 🙏🏽
First, when I started using a crockpot early in my marriage, I always put the vegetables on the bottom, as directed by the manufacturer. Where's the garlic? Also, I NEVER peel the skin off potatoes. Here's why.
The potato skin not only adds fiber and nutrients, but it also helps the flesh of the potato retain its nutrients. Leaving the skin on a potato while baking or boiling keeps the nutrients in the potato meat from leaching out. Potatoes, including the skin, are an excellent source of potassium, one of the essential minerals. In addition to minerals, potatoes and potato skins also provide essential vitamins. One potato eaten with the skin provides 45 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. The human body requires vitamin C to support a healthy immune system, for the production of collagen needed to build connective tissues and bones and to protect cells against damage caused by harmful atoms produced as a result of chemical reactions in the body.

This comment. I forgot garlic because they didn’t show them adding it LKL
Why don't you just shut up and make your own video. Geeze
I make this recipe all the time my family absolutely loves it and ask me to make it at least 2 times a month its so yummy
This recipe looks great, usually don't feel hungry watching recipes but this one made me very hungry.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!
I tried this recipe I absolutely love it I had a little bit of water in with my red wine so it wasn't a full cup of red wine three-quarters full the rest water I had a little bit of turnips from my garden and I added small carrots instead of big ones and for spices I had a salt and pepper rubbed it all on with some pepper Rica and a secret spice and I put no salary I cooked it for about 9 hours on low but overall I love the recipe I kind of made it my own thank you most tender meat is for sure
Hi Michele, great question. If the roast is larger than 4 pounds, just be sure that the water is halfway up the side of the roast and it will be enough while it slowly cooks. Hope this helps, enjoy!
Followed your instructions, ABSALOUTLY great . Thank you so much. LOVELY.
I have never cooked a roast in a Crock-Pot before, I want to try it! I have only oven cooked them. And I use the baby carrots so there is no need to cut them. Mmm! Can't wait! Thanks for sharing!
Followed your recipes plus I added 1 can of Campbell cream mushroom, and 2 bouillon beef cubes and rosemary. Yummy!
My mother used to pour cream of mushroom soup on her pot roast and it was always delicious.
You can certainly add garlic if you are a garlic fan! Sounds delicious.
Thank you for this video. I like how it was short and straight to the point.
Thanks! I really like the camera work, and great recipe!
I added some powdered garlic to add to the taste. Cooked 1 hour on high then 6 on low. Your recipe turned out great.
If you want a gravy you can separate juices in a pan on stove add a cornstarch slurry heat and boom gravy
Made this and omg so delicious. Thank you.
Omg… this looks delicious!
I will cook this for my wife tonight IF she will wash the dishes. !!!!!
I cant wait to try this ..............
Thank you
I'm doing this now but I also added a can of cream of mushroom and left the potatoes out because I want mashed potatoes like my sweet ol' Grandma makes. :)
I was wondering if she put mashed potatoes at the bottom on the plate. I'll put rice with mine 😋.
And the can of "cream of mushrooms sounds really good.
@@msve3730 whoa weird seeing this comment. My grandma just died 😔
I made this recipe. It really came out delicious. :) Thanks for sharing!
Just followed all of your directions. Put one in the slow cooker this morning. Can't wait for dinner tonight.
Thank you!!!!!!! I used your pot roast recipe at the fire house and the guys love it....Thanks
Where the mushrooms? And it's a good idea to coat the roast with flour as well before you seer it, it helps with making the broth a little thicker. And I also use chicken broth instead of beef. Just so that it's not so "beef flavored". More than enough beef flavor comes from the roast itself. The chicken broth creates a unique flavor. Just some suggesstion if people wanna try them :)
Roguemember can you put Bay leaves in too??? will that add more or Ruin the Flavor.??
Roguemember no offense but ive tried it with chicken stock and didn't like it all, each to their own i suppose.
Gross
That looks so bloody good. Gotta try it.
looks so good realy going to try this thanks so much for sharing
Thank you for your question. If you are cooking on high, you might want to check for doneness after 5 hours and then continue cooking longer, if needed.
I’m always high when I use my crocked pot.
That could very well be the slowest I have ever witnessed carrots being chopped.
Many of us are not that fast while cutting
I was thinking the same thing I started to freak a lil bit when she was peeling potatoes, LOL
dvrman i thought the same
Watch the fingers no doubt.
dvrman haha
Looks wonderful!
Made this last yesterday, it was freaking awesome!!!
I love this recipe. I forgot to pick up the celery. 😑 But, I'm going to go for it anyways. Hopefully it's yummy! 🤞
Hello Lanny. You should be able to find dry onion soup mix in most grocery stores. It is usually located next to canned soups and broths. Good luck!
Easy to make your own
Cool! I'm going to try this!
I just bought a slow cooker earlier. So far, this meal in this video is a top contender to be made this weekend. Thanks for the video.
Good luck!
My wife: “What’s the holdup on the carrots!?!?”
Me: “I’m doing it exactly like the recipe calls for!!😥”
Allrecipes my roast turned out perfect!

OMG !!! I am doing it right now , thanks for the video
Thank you it was amazing merry Christmas 🎄
i feel you need to add the vegetables much later, maybe like 1 hour before it is done because they are soggy if you throw it in the beginning.
I agree I cut my potatoes a little bigger. And I don't add the carrots until the last few hours.
+Adam Lewis the cat's right.
+Adam Lewis I have put mine in the beginning before and they came out fine :)
Norma Baker maybe differences in slow cooker or something. mine come out soggy. :(
+Adam Lewis 1 hour in a slow cooker for fresh potatoes and carrots? I can guarantee they won't be soggy with just 1 hr in the slow cooker/crockpot. They will barely be warm and hard as rocks.
Give this a shot and see what you think.
For what you are after, I'd say you might want to plan on a few carrots and onion in the bottom of the cooker just to make the gravy/liquid flavorful and then for what you want to "eat" as a separate veg, you'd better plan on pre prepping them on stove top, in microwave or oven. You can then add them in to CP for 1 hr, but not sure why you'd bother at that point.
Thank you for your question! You can use a cup of your favorite red wine, instead of water for this recipe. Enjoy!
Thank you for this recipe, I like it, because is easy and it came out very good!!!
Should definitely deglaze the pan with the red wine and then add that to the crockpot. And no water, definitely use the beef stock, unless of course you’re on a sodium restrictive diet. I’m so pleased to see that they seared the meat first! Adds such a better flavor to the end product.
I literally said omg out loud when she plated the meat
I used a can of beer instead of a cup of water. The alcohol in the beer also tends to help tenderize the meat. Just my two cents.
Great suggestion Lexi!
I drank beer while eating the roast does that count?
Red wine is good also
or can of coke
Alcohol abuse!!! Drink that beer
Thank you that looks delicious👌🏽
thank you so much for this recipe!!! It turned out so amazing!!!
That's terrific to hear, Phillip Calleros! So glad you liked the recipe!
My mother add a can of cream of mushroom soup to hers, the mushrooms add more flavor to the meat and cream adds more body to the sauce.
Alina Karle instead of the onion mix?
normally you can add onion mix and the cream of mushroom soup and its amazing. Dont add any water though as the vegetables and meat produce water when they cook. I added water before and it was too soupy so I had to add flour as well- Lesson learned
I do put cream of mushroom instead of onion mix
And I thought I was the only one who adds a can of cream of mushroom soup to my pot roast.I put the unopened can under the kitchen faucet and let hot water run over it for about a minute. This allows the cream of mushroom soup to easily slide out of the can and into a small bowl. I then mix it up with a spoon for a short time and then spread the soup on top of everything. When its done cooking you end up with a pot roast with the gravy already made.
I like to add can of cream of mushroom soup too can also use beer in place of the water
You dont have to add expensive “burgundy” wine , just add cheap red wine there is literally no difference when cooking.
I was gonna stress tryna find burgundy wine. Im just finding Marsalis wine. Thanknyou so much for the exception.
I am 64 & still learning to cook. 🤣 I loved the simplistic of the video and played it while I was following it...Could you add how to make gravy to go with it? Thanks & God bless you. ❤
Looks perfect for sure 👍
My wife laughed at me when I tried to get canned potatoes at the store.
She only uses canned whole potatoes now with the slow cooker roast.
They don't turn to mush and their fully cooked right out of the can.
You know what Imma try that. 😳 instead of peeling these f*kn potatoes. Great it saves her time.
Want a great pot roast salt, pepper, garlic, sear on all sides, add Lipton Beefy onion mix and some Lea & Perrins, 3/4 up with beef broth. One hour per pound at 350.
I rubbed liquid smoke on mine then flavor-glo and let it sit overnight, put it in the crockpot the next morning with carrots, potatoes, thyme, basil leaves, beef stock, and onion powder and let it cook 9 hours, came out really good
Definitely the best easiest recipe ever!
