    I have been a single father since 96. I knew little about cooking. Had a son and daughter. they were 9 and 12 when their mother left us. Any way you have taught me to make good dinners. You have been an inspiration to me and thank you. I look at others but keep coming back to you

      I was 11 and my brother was 16 when my mom left. I remember my dad making the same 2 dinners; spagettit and some other pasta thing...but I remember his struggle and how he was there and your children will too. Real men raise their kids. Unfortunately my ex husband has barely seen our 3 kids since he moved out (mutiiual decision), but I have a man who has taken on raising them 24/7 with me. Women never love a man more that when he is taking care of her children. You must be a good man.

    @MellKerrigan I find that when you slow cook meat in this way, browning the meat tends to make the meat a little tougher. For this recipe, the meat is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth when not browned ;)

      You could increase flavour by browning if you cut the meat into bigger chunks...

    • @magikp6636

      Very true! Except, when doing a roast or any kind of a larger cut or piece of meat. Then, it's best to sear the meat (brown it) on ALL sides. that keeps the flavor in and also helps to keep it very tender. Just speaking from my personal experiences and what I've learned in the past. I can't wait to try this! It looks and seems Delicious.

    I just received my 3rd crock pot as a Christmas present from my daughter. I have worn out 2 previous over 35 years. This is the single greatest kitchen gadget an aspiring chef MUST have. I use mine at least once a week. In addition I have invested in or been gifted 6 crock pot cook books. So much creativity found in those. My crock pot from scratch marinara sauce is legend in our family. We call it 'red gravy'. I always take a jar or two to give as gifts when visiting relatives and friends and hence the 'legend' was born. Be sure to do your research before buying your crock pot because there is so much to understand beforehand.

    You can also add swede,Turnip ,celery and about 30 to 40 mins before the end of cooking about 6 to 8 dumplings

    I discoverd the slow cooker eight years ago in Great Britain and bought one for me and my family. In Germany they are nearly unknown at this time. I love cooking with it. And it's perfect in fact I'm a working mom of 2 hungy teenager sons. The last two years the slow cooker becomes more and more famous in Germany and a lot of my friends have one or two of it. I love your recipes and tried some of them in the past. Thanks for sharing

    @rzaranko Australian Bacon is slightly different to what you guys call "bacon" - ours is closer to ham. It's usually served thicker and less crispy here. Feel free to use some diced ham instead ;)

    Usually the Low/High settings are pretty standardized. Sounds like there might be a problem with the crockpot itself. Is it new or old? If there is nothing wrong with the crockpot, my advice is to let it cook until the meat and vegetables are done. It's virtually impossible to overcook anything in a crockpot. Sorry I couldn't be of more help ;)

    You can brown the meat in a pan first if you wish, but the slow cooking process itself is what makes the meat tender and "melt in your mouth" - it takes time but it's worth the wait ;)

    Hi. I tried this recipe.It smelled wonderful when I came home from church. I would use it again, however, I will omit the tomato paste next time. (or only use a tablespoon of it. ) I didn't care for the strong tomato taste and I only used 2/3rds of a cup rather than the whole cup. More carrots is definitely needed. One carrot isn't enough in my opinion. I used 3. I even added a stalk of celery to go along with this.

    If the beef wasn't tender and the carrots were hard, sounds like you didn't cook it for long enough. Either that, or the pieces of meat and vegetables were too big and needed longer too cook. Smaller pieces cook quicker ;)

      @arthas640 5 років тому +7

      @@edplow5917 depending on the slow cooker material sometimes food will drip while your putting it in or when you take the lid off and if it drips onto a hotspot it will bake on and since the whole point is to leave it unattended for hours that makes the food cook on like you wouldn't believe and no amount of cleaning will get it off. I had that happen to my old crock pot but the new one has a black ceramic lip with a smooth enamel coating so now everything cleans off easily, but my old one looked nasty no matter how much i scrubbed.

    I made your recipe last night and I had it for supper tonight. WINNER! Utterly delicious. And fun to make. I had never used a slow cooker before (this was my late wife's domain) and it was easy! I made one serious error: I should have made the dish in the daytime rather than in the evening. The wonderful scent of the cooking lingered all night long and I found myself waking up to the scent and it was disruptive to my sleep. That's how good your recipe is! Thank you.
