two the greatest tag teams ever it was an honor to watch these teams wrestle back then rock n roll express and the nightmares.
I worked with one of the guys who were on the Nightmares. It was in 1999 & he delivered papers with me. I mentioned I was a huge wrestling fan & he told me of the Nightmares. I said "Didn't you guys wrestle the Rock N Roll Express?" he was amazed a kid like me knew that.
This is the first time I have seen that match.
Although they never won the tag championships, The Nightmares did very well for themselves in Stampede Wrestling, which is where I remember them from !
i miss these days so much that it really hurts when I think about them.
okrabay I know....I know.
On Monday, January 14, 1985, the team of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson) beat The Nightmares (Danny Davis, Ken Wayne) when Morton pinned Wayne in the Memphis Mid-South Coliseum.
I thought the Nightmares were a masked Team? Maybe I confused them with another Team.
Rock ‘n Roll Express (Rick Morton & Robert Gibson) later wrestled in the Jim Crockett Promotions (GCW/NWA), Bill Watts' Mid-South territory and competed against the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton).
R & R Express were truly innovators. They were doing spots I have never seen done before.
Thank you x 3 for posting these matches! This is REAL wrassling, not "sports entertainment, drama, listen to me talk wrestling" that I refuse to watch these days.
I enjoyed this match far more than I thought I would. The Nightmares are really an under rated team as this was really fun to watch.
this is a great match, unlike most of your tag team matches of today!!!
Corny brought me here, to see the "real" Danny Davis wrestle.
This was 2of my favorite teams In the 80s
Nightmares were great bump takers, and more than willing to show their asses to make the match.Tons of respect for Ken Wayne and Danny Davis.
Heck, I remember watching Buddy Wayne way back in the day. He was a great worker too.
This isn't Mid-South. Although Lance Russel sometimes referred to it as Mid-South. This is what the magazines called Mid-Southern, or Mid America. Mid South was Bill Watts Territory, not Jerry Jarrett's. Two different promotions, though they frequently swapped talent back and forth between them. At the time of this match Morton and Gibson were the Mid-South Tag Team Champions though.
The Nightmares were a great underrated team.
They were my favorite tag team as both heels and babyfaces. I still enjoy their old matches, but, it makes me sick that Ken Wayne turned out to be such a despicable human being.
weird watching robert sell and ricky making the comeback
Doesn't it seem Jerry Calhoun is the official in every Memphis wrestling match? At the time I believe he was married to Lawlers sister
Every big match Calhoun refereed
Since when did ICW get matches from Jarrett?
these were great tag teams
Interesting to see Robert in the Ricky Morton Position. Usually Ricky gets in trouble and finally makes the hot tag to Gibson for the save.
Damn, this was FUN to watch. Luv it, luv it. Miss the good ol' days of rasslin....
@mrhollister09 on youtube it looks ok but if you were to try to show this on a normal size TV screen you would see just how horrible the footage is.
I wish they had saved it too and filmed more at the arena as well.
Lots of old territories are gone forever since no one kept masters of them.
I said he CAN BE a BIT of a whore. That statement was meant to prove a point: If he COULD be making money off the tapes then he WOULD be. So, since he isn't making money off any of it, it's CLEARLY because he CAN'T (for one reason or another) because he WOULD if he COULD. That's all I'm saying. I'm not calling Lawler a whore or saying people don't deserve to get paid for their work. Please. lol
Did Ken Wayne ever go by the name Hornswoggle?
