Van Halen- "Man, we destroyed that hotel room!!!"
Memphis wrestling- "Hold our beer."
🤣A true statement.😂
If I were the janitor after all this, "I'm not cleaning this shit up!"
If any of us were the janitor, we'd either have a mop handle ready to protect ourselves, OR we'd have gotten the hell out of the building half way through. XD
I would give Lawler and Jarrett the Mop
@@TheCastellan Speaking as a janitor, yea, I'd be calling and saying "You don't pay me enough for THIS!"
Tupelo, Mississippi is known for at least two things: the birthplace of Elvis Presley and for having four classic brawls in the same building in the same concession area.
According to Jim Cornette, the woman who comes in at 6:08 and attacks Yamamoto was actually Marlin the promoter's WIFE! Apparently, she was (literally) working at the concession stand that night, selling popcorn, and didn't know the brawl was a "work!" She didn't know that her husband was supposed to be attacked that night, so she steps in to try to pull Yamamoto off him -- and he actually slaps her!
So thats the woman that wasted 40k on a show in a city that was going downhill already
@@mriddleyno u got her mixed up with another lady named Miriam Springfield.
Lance said "he's yellow everywhere" describing Tojo.
Didnt see the entire match in-ring. But this brawl definitely saved the last minute of that match. The way Fuchi reacted after getting splattered with Mustard is humanly Lmfao.
That's the same concession stand where Lawler, Dundee, Latham, and Ferris (Honkytonk Man) had their earlier brawl. And I think that was the same mustard bottle they used on each other!
SO before it's time I love it. Reminds me of the kitchen backstage arena on the very first Smackdown! game.
Super YOSHIKO probably modelled on this
My favorite brawl of all time is Booker T vs Stone Cold in a supermarket! I don't know the entire plot behind the episode but Vince and Ric Flair were forced to sit in an office and watch it live and they couldn't demand the other guy order his wrestler to stop! I like that they added that one little rule. Makes the scene even funnier the way Flair is laughing uncontrollably and Vince looks like he pulled a muscle!
I love how the cops are standing there watching like nope. Not getting involved. Lol
They were probably told that it was part of the show. I'm sure the organizers informed them what was supposed to be part of the storyline and what wasn't. Very important because what if two of the wrestlers fall over the fence into the audience and some kid gets injured...
Absolutely golden footage!
The best (and most vicious) of the three Tupelo Concession Brawls
Why?...the mustard?
I like that Paul Morton seems to be trying to officiate the chaos and not trying to help his son who is being beaten and bloodied in a 3-on-2, unsanctioned, out of the ring brawl.
the seed of deathmatch wrestling. onita took this back to japan and the rest is history.
I've seen a few matches that took place there and the Japanese are just as wild as the Mexicans. They hold NOTHING back! Nooooooothing.
Onita bladed like crazy 🤪 on this one
@@jamie.777 onita always blades like crazy, even now. 🤣
@@DeathMetalRob looks like his partner bladed his ear 👂
@@jamie.777 possibly, old school wrestlers were insane.
Imagine running to the concession stand and whining to the cook: Hurry up man, I gotta get back and see the rest of the -
BEHIND YOU!!! OH SHIIIIT!
Onita and Morton come crashing over the counter. 😂😂
So much funnier to watch now that Cornett gave us the context of the brawl "do what you want just don't break my popcorn machine" and tojo slapping the lady in the flower shirt... flipping great TV...can we please take wrestling back to these days!! That was great!
How is this great wrestling? They were constantly no selling everything and it was silly like it is tofay
Onita is busted wide open!!!
He better get use to that lmao
you won't see a brawl like this in wrestling these days
OMG ! I could watch this all day long ! On side note. Kitchen staff: " screw you, we ain't cleaning that shit up !"
Terry Funk speaks highly of Onita and Fuchi in his book.
This tag match is the later FMW.
This a possible historic link to modern-day hardcore wrestling leagues... before ECW, there was FMW in Japan, founded in 1989 by... Atsushi Onita!!!
Martin Ouellet yeah he couldn't wrestle properly in the 90s and remembered this. Apparently his whole career after was because of injuries and this match, he just kind embraced the blood and violence
Jeff Jarrett and Mark Briscoe about to run this back and I'm here for it 💯💯💯
It wasn't much of a "concession brawl"
No! Not the mustard! Oh the humanity!!!
Now this was a Tupelo concession stand brawl
Onita told us about that in the Dark Side Of The Ring episode about FMW
Classic footage! Back when Wrestling was Wrestling! None of this BS today!
All I can think is how the hell did the health inspector not freak out over this!? There's 5 dude's bleeding all over the kitchen 😂
FABULOUS Brawl!! Better than the '79 Tupelo concession stand brawl!!
Buying a bootleg Memphis wrestling dvd, finding this amazing moment in pro wrestling history... 🍻🍻
Another reason why Memphis wrestling is the best.
Man, after hearing the stories it's great to see this. Lance was great.
How great was Lance FN Russell??
I'll go so far to say that this referee qualifies an athlete
Ricky Morton's dad
Ref Paul Morton must of had a no touch clause in his contract
Can I just say how much I feel bad for this concession lady. What is it, four times wrestlers came in and trashed the place?
Lance Russell was all into this one.
Damn, Morton was swinging for the fences
Is it true that the management of the arena in Tupelo, Mississippi refused to book any future rassling events after this brawl because of all the damage caused?
At what point did the producers say to the wrestlers, "Okay, guys. You can break it up now. We've got enough footage for next week's show." - ?
I miss Memphis old style Memphis wrestling. If I had the money l would start it back up
Popcorn machine lives again.
Tojo you sneaky bastard.
This was BRUTAL!
*The Mustard Wars!!!*
I got to see the famous concession where heck is honky tonk Man
That was the 79 brawl.
This is possibly the craziest brawl I've ever seen. What was it about Tupelo and concession brawls, LOL!
There's nothing else to do in that town
In Darkside of the Ring Onita says that he was kicked in the face by a lady wearing heels that cut him open... This footage proves that wasn't true @2:39 you can clearly see Onita is slammed into a table which then allows him to crouch down and blade giving himself the cut.
The kick might have happened around the 10 minute mark. That's when Onita is laying across the counter as depicted in Dark Side Of The Ring, but you're absolutely right. He cuts himself much earlier when he's crouched under the counter.
Jim Cornette sent me.
Your link to the concession stand brawl with Lawler and Dundee doesn't work.
The Inspiration for FMW
Least the popcorn machine's intact XD
TheCastellan the one rule.
here after dark side of the ring
this is awesome footage .Nothing like Memphis Wrestling where it ends up in a straight up brawl.1 of the territories that was doing hardcore before anybody coined the term .Onita would later form FMW and become the King Of The Deathmatches .Gilbert would become a hardcore legend in his own right with the original ECW and his battles with Terry Funk over the King Of Philadelphia Title plus his feuds with Jerry "The King" Lawler in Memphis . 2 hardcore legends in the making.
This was in Tupelo
@@yourfabuloushappymann5154 Iknow it was in Tupelo. It was Memphis style wrestling though where hardcore wrestling was pioneered .
Too…and to craigstrachan’s point, though it was in Tupelo, it was during the territory days. “Memphis wrestling,” as well call it, ran in certain towns in the Memphis “territory.” Evansville, IN, Lexington, KY, Jackson, TN, Tupelo, MS, and Nashville, TN were all towns in the Memphis “territory.” So even though this is a wrestling card in Tupelo, it was still Memphis wrestling.
Can't believe this is the Onita from FMW...I've only ever seen him fight in FMW, this is classic!
May I have a large coke, extra blood ice please
Say what you want ,in cashville tn on sat mornings when you heard that porno beat and screams and lance as a kid you knew the shite just got real.
Holy crap😂😂 The woman in the flowery blouse jumps in only to get slapped! 😂 At 6:08
she thought this was a work and was protecting her husband from Tojo...fact!
Great Brawl.
4:54 From Eddie Gilberts shoot, the board wasn't gimmicked like the others were and when he hit Tojo with it Tojo was yelling "Goddamn, Goddamn"
6:07 The woman was the promoters wife and she wasn't smart so Tojo legit slapped her.
WOW! Atsushi Onita in Memphis! Awesome!
A Hardcore Living Legend & The father of the exploding barbed wire deathmatch
This was where he got the idea for a more violent wrestling product that became FMW.
+gogotonyyo He had to figure out that he couldn't survive with his face getting cut open all the time. So where did he go..... to his back, arms and shoulders for cuts..... hence barbed wire.
How many concession stand brawls did they have in tupelo? Isn't this the 3rd one?
4 total
There were four. In the first one, there's no footage of the concession stand brawl from what I saw.
Take note Vince McMahon!.........this is how it's done! Not your Saturday morning cartoon B.S. you're trying to promote!
The hot cheese spot. 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅
Tojo is chopping at Mrs. Herman Sheffeld, the wife of the local Tupelo promoter back then.
I'd hate to be the Concession stand owner at this arena. Imagine having to clean up a mess like this after EVERY wrestling event. "Hey, y'all! Whose gonna PAY for all this?"
the promoter... he told them dont break the popcorn machine. That was his only rule.
Yeah, I noticed that too. It's a shame, because that would have been a REAL highlight of this brawl.
"Look at this, folks! Ricky Morton is trying to stuff Masa Fuchi's head inside the popcorn machine! Now Morton is covering Fuchi's head with real imitation butter! Now he's adding extra salt! And the popcorn machine is still popping corn!"
Looks like a shoot but its not. Sign of a good match
You'll notice two very big things about this clip. Number 1: Ricky Morton without a mullet! Number 2: Everything in this video was more hardcore or 'extreme' than anything WWE has these days. They even made 'extreme rules' ppv less extreme.
2rrkd You'll also notice that this is first 'extreme' match of this type in TWO YEARS. Not every week, like the dumbfuck WWE does.
Mustard & Blood!!!
Good combination 🤣🤣🤣
After his head is rammed into the Popcorn machine Tojo doesn't move, his arm also looks messed up. Was he seriously wounded? Or just cut up and messy?
HAH nevermind I hadn't watched the whole thing, but later he's up again slapping people, even a lady!
Andy Fitzgerald She was trying to Pearl Harbor him.
Super YOSHIKO j
Where's the ketchup?
Dark side brought me here!
Whose the woman Tojo slaps?
The concessation stand guy's wife. You see how she jumped Tojo for no reason.
That was Herman Sheffield's wife. Sheffield was the promoter for Memphis Wrestling in Tupelo. He never smartened his wife up that he was going to be involved in the brawl, so... from her point-of-view... Tojo attacked her husband and she was defending her man! LOL!
lol @ 6:12
The woman hitting Tojo was a shoot. She worked the concession stand and wasn't smart to the business
jean sheffield who ran the venue with her husband. to yamamoto she was just another mark at that moment
Me either,,I would've quit that day,,
I've heard of a fight where they were "rolling around in the mud and the blood and the beer." But whoever heard of "rolling around in the mud and the blood and the mustard!" ?
Definitely "an unabridged brawl", as Lance said.
Yeah I'm tired I can't watch anymore
An unabridged brawl.
Dave Brown always look like he just smoked a doob in all this 70s footage.
Is there any food left , I would like two dogs and a Dr.Pepper
Now that's entertainment. WWE never had shit like this.
"Rick Morton" doesn't have the same ring to it.
Amazingly, Jeff Jarrett's Father Jerry Jarrett and His Grandfather Eddie Marlin used to have a common Memphis Tag Partner: Tojo Yamamoto!😂😉🎤🌭🍿🥤🎼🎸🤼♂️B.W.
