This is soo common. Mothers and wives will complain about their bum ass husbands on social media and when people condemn the men, the women do a 180 like “there are no red flags in my marriage everything is wonderful!!!” It’s like they want someone to recognize their pain (bc their husbands don’t) but don’t actually want to acknowledge how serious the issue is. It’s similar to how victims of domestic abuse try to rationalize their abuser’s actions

Its so sad to me, because even when their concerns are validated, and people tell them "hey you deserve better" they've already resigned themselves to the relationship, so they try to rationalize to the internet why their partner is actually great. The internet will disagree, and then they'll likely never trust the opinions of the comments again, because they've been "proven" wrong before.

They talk like abuse victims because they are. These wives youre talking about are often abused even if its not phisical. Its pretty common for victims to defend their abusers because abusers break their victims down, they make them believe they are their only friend/love, that nobody loves or cares about them and that they are the worst scumm of the earth and should be grateful for the crumbs they give amongst the abuse.
We tend to think about abuse like its "oh broke her arms and gave her a black eye in a fit of rage" but abuse is not black and white and there is a lot in between like "he slowly normalized his alcoholism till the point she didnt bat an eye when he took her credit card, got drunk and came back home with a robber"

As someone who's over 12 years sober from alcohol, the husband needs to admit he's an alcoholic and get some treatment, and she needs to admit he's an alcoholic and stop enabling him. There's a saying in AA that sounded exactly like how she described his drinking, "1 is too many. 1,000 is never enough."

I wholeheartedly believe that the only reason this woman wasn't robbed is because she saw the guy. most of the time, burglars don't give up once they find out that the target has a child. what probably happened is that she saw the dude's face and he realized that she could identify him without an issue to the police, so he went "well the jig is up" and didn't do it

I think it's so weird that she put so much emphasis on home security in her responses as if people were telling her "invest in a lock" and not "your husband has a problem that puts your family in danger"... she doesn't have to divorce him, but dismissing his alcoholism as a rare mistake is INSANE and a surefire way to make sure it happens again. I especially feel for that kid. One of my coworkers got piss drunk at our bar at the beginning of the evening. They haven’t worked there long and showed they got a mad drinking problem relatively early. They’ve got kiddos, too. I’ve talked to them about it, admitted I snitched about the behavior. The behavior resulted in a car crash later anyways! I told the person that this shit becomes core memory for their kids. Once they recognize it and if it doesn’t change, they wear the kids wear the trauma on their chest. I got an alcoholic parent and people figure out quickly my past because any answer I can ever give to questions about my family lead to more. If it’s not about the bad decisions now, alcoholics need to think about the conversations later.

addiction doesnt make a person do something.. it’s incredibly rare that a person isn’t consciously deciding what their actions will be even while having an addiction and even being actively inebriated. People go back to their addictions intentionally because its far easier than walking away, its far easier for them to dissociate from those around them so they do, its far easier than addressing the underlying problems they refuse to feel. But remember they actively and consciously know this, they are actively deciding that route, addiction is hard to break but never impossible and only doable by choice, that is why addiction can only end if the addict alone decides to stop. Have empathy but have understanding too, they are victims of their addiction but they are not victims of their actions, they are still responsible for them.

She is also most likely an alcoholic, just a functional one. Unfortunately most bartenders are (not a lot of jobs out there where you can take shots at work). It's the reason she can't say anything about him being an alcoholic, because it would be the pot talking to the kettle. Supporting him through the early years of sobriety would mean she can't drink at home anymore, or talk about work, and definitely not come home from work drunk and expect her husband to be okay with tequila kisses. There is no fixing an alcoholic who is married to a bartender, without the bartender cutting out all work talk, and booze at home. Something most bartenders would never be willing to do, as booze is literally fundamental to the way they live their life.

Like being an addict doesn't make someone a bad person or undeserving of being in a relationship, but if you know you behave in ways that can harm you/your family when you engage with that addiction, then you need to take it really seriously rather than acting like it was just a little oopsy

The footage can help with getting damage covered, or in custody disputes/divorce proceedings it helps to prove that certain things did happen. And any alarms on doors can help you know who’s coming/going in your home, especially for kids. Knowing when the kids open doors is helpful af. Having nanny cams for my dog eases my anxiety. A drunk guy is gonna say “hey just try to be quiet cus my wife and baby are sleeping” when he’s fumbling for the keys or at least mention it once while talking to his new “buddies”. It’s evident with how she talked about it too because she never factually states that the men didn’t know about her and their child. So they definitely didn’t stop because they saw her. It will just further isolate them, because already the abuser is already trying to do so. You can allow them to talk about particular bad patterns, such as in the video she opened with her talking about his drinking habits, but calling the behaviors “abusive” and telling the victim that they’re in an abusive relationship will only make them shut down.
Instead, invite them to talk about how they feel in the abusive relationship. Legitimize their feelings. Say that you’ll be there for support in case they ever need anything. A common abuse tactic is “us against them,” in where the abuser is already trying to cut off the victim’s friends and family by vilifying them and telling the victim that their friends want to split them apart.

They feel the need to justify whatever that person has done and justify why they are still with them. Sometimes telling someone to leave their toxic partner does the opposite and leads them to staying with their partner even after they have put them through hell and back.

I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict. I'm someone that can't drink because I don't have a limit. I will drink until blackout drunk and I went from happy drunk to violent drunk. Some of us can't drink socially. When we stop drinking it becomes kind of a warning or important message to let others know that if you can't cut yourself off then it will only get worse.

I very much doubt the robbers are coming back. They probably abandoned the mission once they realized his sober wife was at home (he probably was texting his partner to cancel) - the whole point was to rob a guy who was black out drunk in their home so he wouldn't remember. Coming home would defeat the point and increase the risk like 500%. Dude's still a douche though... That said, his wife aint much better.

I have a lot of feelings about this. My fiancé has alcohol abuse issues that stemmed from trauma and depression. It was hard AF on us both putting him through outpatient treatment but he’s been sober w/o relapse for almost a year now. I love him because there’s a great person that was extremely sick. He needed someone to help encourage him to fight for sobriety. I was never in danger because of my fiancés actions. This woman is in denial that her husband is an alcoholic & lacks self control. Everyone’s in denial if they think she needs to pursue another bartending job.

This definitely shouldn’t be aired on social media, but I do understand her struggle. It’s not always a simple “just leave,” and it seems she’s defensive and probably in denial about her situation. If anything I just feel bad for her, because I’ve been in her shoes; an alcoholic partner making your life miserable and putting (in my case) themselves in danger. You want to walk away and know you should, you feel like shit because you feel like a walking stereotype. The addiction sometimes comes out of nowhere, things were fine and then they weren’t. Being stuck with a very young child makes that all the worse. Should she get a divorce? Not for us to decide, but probably. But also that is very hard to do, mentally and physically and emotionally.

This is more than just her standing by her husband, she is blatantly being irresponsible on her own having nothing to do with the husband.

  • @jeffery9543
    @jeffery9543 9 місяців тому +18

Sounds like at some point in her life she did a "dumb" thing and wanted to be forgiven for it, so shes so terrified of criticising other people for "making mistakes" because she doesn't want the same kind of telling off. Also feels like she has been conditioned to think that you gotta force a marriage to work purely because you like the other person, and no matter how fucked things get, to just KEEP going. Probably watched other people in her life have shit marriages that they desperately keep together to look good so she thinks its normal. I know I'm mainly assuming shit in this comment but these are really common scenarios ngl. Doesn't help that divorce can be a messy legal process. Another issue is that she's probably just as or almost as immature as her husband, just in different areas (like showing the whole internet her entire security system after making videos about her incompetent husband and how he probably wont be able to protect the house, or that the wife might be away at a job interview at some point and the house might be totally empty)

Honestly, the second video where she’s angry at the commenters might be because her husband is downplaying the issue and she latches onto that because of their unhealthy attachment. I see this all too often in my field. Victims of emotional manipulation will often aggressively defend their manipulator’s behavior cause that’s how toxic relationships work. Think about when she said “everyone makes mistakes when they’re drunk” (or something along those lines) Doesn’t this sound an awful lot like something that would come out of an abusive husband’s mouth after being confronted? It seems like she’s honestly just repeating things. That’s just speculation tho of course 🤷
