      that happens so often when weird guys dm girls and ppl just say ”why didn’t you block him if he made you uncomfortable?”
      as a 16yo i talked to this guy, just chatting about whatever, and all of a sudden he mentioned he was hard. i did tell him to stop, that it made me uncomfy, and he did. however during the period where we talked (literally one day, he stopped talking to me after i turned him down enough times) he did bring stuff like that up again. i remember asking myself why did i let it slide, was it because he was high and he apologized, he seemed sorry? idk. people push boundaries, and people let things slide.

    Gen Z, PLEASE keep talking about problematic age gaps. I'm a millennial in my thirties recovering from complex trauma related to these kinds of relationships being not only normalized but ENCOURAGED when I was too young to know better. I love that y'all call this predation out because I finally feel like there are people willing to affirm my trauma. And these relationships are 100% traumatizing, even though the effects may not manifest for years after the grooming. Thanks for covering this 🙏

      @@Nonyah123 I'm a millennial. Old men dating women as young as they could possibly date was very highly encouraged and thought of as being a very positive thing in the 2000s. A sign of a successful man. Many men my age and older (and some younger, too) are still living with these ideas in their heads. • @Nonyah123
      @Nonyah123 Рік тому +10

      @@J_Lynn ahh i see. I was thinking of it the other direction ie young girls encouraged to old men. Yeah, that's sadly very much still a thing even with young guys make jokes about once they hit 25 they're going to start trading down to younger girls like Leo etc. Sugar babying is very popular at my college and there are always tons of old men hanging around trying to date college girls. and going with the flow joking about its fine because we have daddy issues. So come to think of it it's still really prevalent and sadly it's still mostly women and young men calling it out. Older men are silent on it because they want to keep dating young as they can. I'm probably naive to think the other guys I'm seeing is different but at the same time I really enjoy him. Comments like ops make me worried I'm being groomed and don't even know it and I'll feel it years from now but right now I see no red flags aside from him being ok with dating me which I guess theoretically should be a red flag.

      Yeah there's a couple people in the comments here saying she "isn't innocent" as if she wasn't being obsessed over by a creepy older man.
      Like yes, she left a comment, but like a lot of young people do when they have a thought that they could win an amazing giveaway such as Taylor swift concert tickets (that some people paid upwards of thousands to get). She's literally just out of high school, I remember when I was that age I barely understood how the world worked. I'd probably get conned by some creep loser with millions of followers if I had the chance back then.

    Older men have been dating 18yr olds FOREVER…I mean, look at how Hollywood promotes this age gap s**t in their movies. I’m glad Gen Z seems to be rebelling against this narrative now. I’m an older millennial, so I’ve seen this normalized my whole life…I’ve always thought it was creepy, even moreso now, at 41. Good on y’all for calling this out as not normal, not cute, and no longer socially acceptable.

      Yeah honestly it's fuckin weird, shit when I was 22 or 23 I felt weird if an 18 or 19 year old hit on me. Literally have become an entirely different person in every way since I was 18 myself, been through life and experienced pain in just 8 years now, to the point where looking even 3 years ago I feel like looking at a child or teenager. How the hell can anyone look at this situation and think she was old enough to truly understand the intricacies and depth of it all? Victim blaming to the max and its disgusting.
      People that say 18 or 19 year Olds are already adults, or know what theyre doing and can make those decisions are just fucking wrong. It makes me so happy the new generation is finally realizing how fuckin weird it truly is dating someone so much younger.

    I was taken aback but not surprised when I started to hear this drama. One of my friends had sent me screenshots that he (Rodger) had requested to follow her on Instagram and sent some weird messages about how beautiful she was. We were 19 for reference and this was a couple months ago. After she showed me it made me super uncomfortable since why is he trying to follow random young girls who follow him when he had thousands of followers? Very gross and I’m sad that this happened.

    I genuinely knew a guy that finally graduated high-school at 21, we had the same math class when I was a junior. First time I'd ever heard the term "Super Senior". I also ended up a super senior due to illness, because I was getting sinus infections constantly and always being sent home sick. Being older when you graduate really isn't that uncommon, they just have certain hidden classrooms and even schools for those of us who end up that way.

    The problem here is that she was naive (no shade, I am too) and she didn’t sexualize him so she assumed that he was being nice in good faith, instead of being a creepy weirdo. Sadly, this did is a narcissist and comes from an era where the slightest female kindness is seen as an invitation to pester them into sex. It’s gross, it’s obnoxious, but even worse it’s typical. Thankfully younger people just aren’t going to put up with his Boomer pressure dynamic.
