I'm glad i found your channel! I just bought a 2020 Yamaha FSH 190 Sport, and I need some better speakers to make sure everyone else hears ZZ Top at the sand bar.
Another Awesome video! Personally I went with the Kicker KRC55 Remote (has a digital screen) but haven't installed it yet. I was waiting to borrow some sort of scope before I started drilling into the swim platform area. Your video will help me out tremendously. I might duplicate the (2) extra Skar Audio speakers on the back as well. I wish Skar made a 2-channel marine amp. Also, I decided to go with (2) of the West Marine underwater LEDs and was hoping I could install them on the outside of each of the engine but also needed to scope down inside the back of the boat prior to drilling holes. Keeps making videos please! Thank you!
I appreciate your support and I am glad my videos are helping! Skar makes an 800.1 marine class D if you wanted to use that for 2-4 speakers as well. It is 1ohm stable.
It’s a great question. I highly recommend not doing that. Internal amplifiers on head units aren’t made for that type of application. You would more than likely fry it. It can handle up to 40 watts per channel at 2 ohms if you want more power but bridging it is not the way. What you need to do is parallel wire the speakers if they are 4ohm down to 2ohm.
Cool video. I get alot of water back there on my boat, I would be worried they would get submerged with salt water! Or the boat taking on water when I'm offshore. But would be awesome at the sandbar..
Tried tested and even a factory option on the scarab. I’ve been doing this location installs for years and never had issues. Just make sure to follow my info and buy quality marine speakers. They are UV coated and rinse-able so no issues in saltwater which is where I live.
Did you end up adding the KRC55 remote? I want to add it to my transom area but worry about water splashing. It says that it is IP67, but that seems like a big hole to drill in the transom if it can’t stand the water
No, I used the KRC12. It’s the smallest digital controller and works great. But the krc55 is even better. I wanted a smaller unit to fit the speakers as far outboard as possible.
That was the Zone 2 speaker output adapter that came with the head unit. This was temporary and only 50 watts. You can accomplish this with the Zone 2 preouts (RCA) connectors and another amp as well which is what I did later when adding the tower speakers.
It has enough power but not enough cooling. If not in a well cooled area it will over heat and go into protection mode. For $20 more just get the 1,000 and never have to worry about it and have the ability to add more in the future if you want.
Thanks for all the great content! I have limited space at my console, so I went with a Fusion MS-BB100. I would like to go with a pair of Skar 6.5s and a pair of 8s, but not sure I can find a good place to mount the 8s without losing rod storage space. If not, then two pair of the 6.5s. Since I am not going to add a sub, is it worth adding the 8s as my second pair? I was also going to add the Skar RP150.4 amp or do you recommend something else with either set-up? Thank you for your thoughts.
I recommend going with a set of these amzn.to/3OnTiAm and a set of these amzn.to/3O9asSU with this amp amzn.to/3O1w8Qx and this wiring kit amzn.to/3Qu2wwT you will love it!
I have a 2021 sx 195 and I want to add 6.5 's to my swim deck just like you did. I keep getting talked out of it by the guys on the Yamaha forum's. Everyone says they will get damaged. I am very interested in how yours are holding up.
Go for it! If you check my last video at the sand bar there is another Yami guy that has had his speakers in this location for 2 years. I have just finished coating mine with a ceramic/acrylic/graphene application which will protect them for years to come. I dont know what kind of damage they are experiencing but I have put these on plenty of boats like this with no issues. Only thing I would be careful of is extremely quick stops as the wake can wash up on the deck hard. Other than that you're golden!! I have been washing and rinsing the other speakers in the boat for over a year with no damage. Highly recommend this brand for the price and quality. Links are in my video description if you would like to use those.
@@THEFSHDUDE awesome! Thanks for the fast reply. Also if I wanted to run 4 of the skar 6.5s and 2 ds18 6.5 tower speakers (4ohm 450w max) I would need a secondary amp?
I did that too for a while, this is just another option. Some people don't like wearing their watches in salt water or dont have watches that can do that.
Interesting opinion but incorrect. These are completely sealed. We’ve been running them like this on boats for well over a decade with zero issues as have thousands of others. Not to mention Scarab, one of the most respected manufacturers of boats in the world, has been doing this for years on their jet boats from the factory. Lastly, these are not lake-boats. These are offshore fishing boats. I assume you don’t know that from your statement so I wanted to clarify for you. There’s a lot of uneducated folks out there when it comes to new Yamaha boats.

I myself have the KMC5 could you bridge the zone 2 speaker output to get more watts to the 6.5s

What is the connector you used to tie in the speakers to run them separate from the inside speakers.

Great video!!! Quick question. Can I get away with running the 500w skar amp for (2) 6.5s and (2) 8" skars? Or does that not have enough power?
It has enough power but not enough cooling. If not in a well cooled area it will over heat and go into protection mode. For $20 more just get the 1,000 and never have to worry about it and have the ability to add more in the future if you want.

Is the skar 10 in sub a free air sub or need to be in a box
It is a free air sub. Made to be mounted to the boat. Does not need a box.
Wanted to add more speakers, but my head unit already is full, i have 4 speakers in my boat, which what it came with, how i add more speakers
Get an amplifier
@@cody8062 i thought amplifier is for a subwoofer
Add a 4 channel amplifier. This one works great amzn.to/3RsIBii

what size amp do you recommend to run 6 or 8 of the skar 6.5's in a sxs

Not if that’s everything, but if that’s on top of the other 6-8 then yes buy two of those amps.
@@THEFSHDUDE gotcha. Thanks alot for the help

I just use my watch as a remote. Leave the phone in the boat. Works perfect every time.
I did that too for a while, this is just another option. Some people don't like wearing their watches in salt water or dont have watches that can do that.
Just wondering if you are willing to install it on my boat?
I don’t do professional installations anymore due to a back injury.
INSANE to cut huge holes on an exposed transom without locking hard covers on those speakers. Even on a lake-boat
