Just got a Hurricane Deck Boat. Thinking of doing this set-up except the four speakers are situated with two on the left side and two on the right side (facing each other). Do I still get two 6.5" speakers and two 8" speakers or should I go with all one size? Still plan to use the amp as well.
I watched your video definitely gonna do the 8’s and 6.5’s 2 in the console and 2 in the back should I do the 8’s on the console or in the back or should I just do 8’s all around appreciate the feedback!
@@THEFSHDUDE I have plenty of room in the back because of how the back of the boat is setup so if I wanted to do 8’s and I have no amp as of now just cheap speakers that were already in the boat and wanted to upgrade to the skars
@@uncblue15 upgrading to high performance speakers doesn’t make a big difference and usually sounds less loud without an amplifier to supply the proper power to said speakers.
So after watching your video i also installed the same setup 4 6.5s and 2x8s with the 1000w amplifier. Do you keep youre amplifier base toggle at medium or full base?
Love the video and I have watched why you decided to go with this setup. I am just curious about a head unit. What do you recommend that is NMEA 2000 compatible where you can control it from a GPS Chartplotter?
That’s because the 1,000 is so much better for only $30 more. The 500 is great but if I had the room I would have got the 1,000. If you’re just pushing 4-6.5s it’s great.
@@claytonbrown2656 If you are going with the Skar Audio 8s it will be fine as long as you're not cranking it all the time as it would possibly overheat. Those 8s are very power hungry. I would bridge each one on two channels and make sure to keep the amp ventilated. For $30 more you can get the 1,000 and not have anything to worry about because it has the power and an internal fan for temperature control.
My only problem with Skar is cutting a larger than normal hole for the 6.5” speaker…your married to them now. Wet sounds Revo are just ridiculous priced, so what about the JL, worth the investment in the end?
JL is great but only at the M6 level or higher which you will run into the same issue at 4x the cost. The only thing you’d be married to is higher end speakers not just Skar. If you don’t want to trim use these kickers amzn.to/3Os8CfA they are fantastic speakers as well.
I am attempting to walk my friend through the install from another state ... he has ordered 2 of the 8” you have in the video. I told him to get the 12 AWG OFC wire. I am now looking for the correct fittings to connect to the speakers. I know marine grade but as far as connections on the back of the speaker. Also can you tell me the size for the AMP. I instructed the 1000 watt of the same brand as that could allow him to add more speakers down the road. Would that cause an issue or is it just too much overkill? Thanks in advance.
12 gauge is a little excessive, I would say 14 is plenty. Marine grade spade connectors is required for the backside of the speakers. I think it’s smart to get the 1k for future additions.
Great video! Really appreciate your content! Did you run new speaker wire to power the Skar 6.5's or did you use the existing factory speaker wire? Thank you!
So funny, I have a fsh 210 also and I just bought the same speaker and amp. But I’m adding a 10 inch woofer free air on the side too. Question... what did you use to make the holes bigger? Was that just a dremel? I’ve never been so precise when using a dremel.

@@gwade8808 These are the basic batteries from a local Advanced Autoparts that the dealer put in. Dealers chose the batteries when the boats arrive. One starting and one house battery. The house battery (the one the system runs off) is a Marine AGM Deep Cycle Battery. I can run the system at moderate volume around an hour and a half or two with the boat off. At full volume around 45 minutes. And at a low volume a few hours. It is the aH that you want. Mine is a 100aH battery. My system draws less than 80 amps most of the time. I cant get out for more than 20 minutes of running wide open an donce I stop I have maybe 5-10 minutes before my alarm to start the engines goes off on the house battery at 11.7
No issues here but I have a deep cycle battery. You’re house should always be a deep cycle. Start batteries aren’t made for prolonged drainage. Also, it’s going to get worse the more you use it as a house battery with a amplified stereo system.
Im debating what size battery to add as well. AGM batteries only have about 50% of the Ah available before they are at or below 12V. I am considering swaping the 100aH AGM with a 200Ah LiFePO4 as my house and leaving the other AGM as the crank. Would have the full 200Ah available to run the amp and remaining minimal house draw. Need to install a DC-DC charger to safely charge both but will not be able to combine them. That would give an effective increase of 150Ah for my house.
