    Great video bro!! Your install is legit!! I just picked up the same amp and speakers and in the process of mounting everything. I was wondering how you have your battery set up. Maybe a pic? Are you running 2 batteries? I'm sure those amps are sucking a little power. Merry Christmas!!

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  3 роки тому +5

      Merry Christmas! Believe it or not, they sip battery power! I have a dual battery setup, one for the house, one for just starting. I’m probably going to make a video for that one as well in the spring. I have it setup on a board that tucks into the rear area so you get more room under the seat.

      Thank you! The sound was tolerable before. The fusion radio has a way better Bluetooth system and audio processing. No pops or crackles and the sound is crisper and cleaner.

    You should link the items you use. What rca splitters did you use? What volume knob? I just ran across your video and you do an amazing job. I was looking on a way to control my tower speakers separately from my cabin speakers. Keep up the good work.

    • @boatingpropless

      I ended up getting the audio equipment from Amazon. I was going to link the cables and stuff, but with inventory changing at Amazon for stuff like this, I was afraid it would go out of stock. Pretty much look for the volume knob with the best ratings. It’s just more or less potentiometer in a box.

    First off prob the best marine audio installation video I have came across!\
    I plan on doing this exact set up on my hurricane deck boat.
    I do have 2 batteries 1 start and 1 house how long can i expect this system to play off of the house battery.\
    I currently only have the 1 amp and 4 6.5s but do plan on getting another amp and speakers for wake tower.

      Thank you! I have had this thing run an entire day without an issue. I might have had to plug the boat in to charge when I get home, as the stators aren’t running enough to give the battery a full charge. No issues so far though! 🤞🏻

  • @BlixemBlixem
    @BlixemBlixem 3 роки тому +1

    1) great video, looking forward to hearing how the systems ends up! Keep up the good work.
    2) are you planning a subwoofer? Or enough volume (bass?) as is?
    3) I like the idea of using the volume control for the rear of speakers.

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  3 роки тому +2

      I recorded this video awhile ago so we’ve used it for quite a few trips already. System is pretty dang good. I don’t think it needs a subwoofer, for how we use it. We’re not normally blasting it, and the loudest we put it is to overcome the noise while underway. The knob for the rear speakers is awesome. You can use the Gain on the amp to make them a bit louder than the inside ones. You’ll need it to overcome them being behind the seat and in the “open air”.

    What gauge wire did you use for the power and ground? I'm using 4 gauge, but it won't fit into the power and ground ports on the Skar amp. Maybe a distribution block? I'm running the 4 gauge from the amp, to a breaker, then to the battery. Now just stuck with trying to fit the wires into the ports of the amp.
    I noticed your wires were thinner.

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  Рік тому +1

      I used 8AWG. The RP-75.4ABM | 500w rms calls for 8 AWG and the RP-150.4ABM | 1,000w rms calls for 4 AWG. I’ve never had a problem where I felt the power was being choked due to the wire size.

    Love it brother. Currently planning my install. Also will have 2 Amps for 8 speakers. How are your speakers wired? Series? Parallel?

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  2 роки тому +1

      They are neither! Each amp has 4 channels so I was able to wire each speaker directly to a channel that way. Maximum power, maximum control! 👍🏻 If you are going to use 2 amps and they are 4-Channels each you should be good!

    Dumb question but what did you do with the existing speaker wires? Would they still be live?

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  2 роки тому +2

      Not a dumb question! Technically, yes if you didn’t snip them on the radio side. They were protected from the elements tucked up under the wells, so I wasn’t really concerned about it at the time. I ended up replacing the radio this season, so I ended up disconnecting the whole harness. Video on that soon!

      Using 2 Group-24s (one Duralast and one Interstate, both deep cycles) I have a dedicated starting battery and a house battery. The stereo will run all day without any issues. Sometime in the fall, I’ll have a video about my battery setup. Just need to find time to edit it.

      I did not use the skar amp kit. I used: gregsmarinewiresupply.com for the best price
      and got ALL TINNED wire. It won’t corrode and the jacket is substantial for the harsh saltwater.

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  Рік тому +1

      So I wanted to keep them out of the way of everything. I figured that spot was not being utilized and wouldn’t be in the way of anything. Under the helm and the head storage would just take up more space and leave less room for all our stuff. I’ve never had any overheat issues in this location either.

    How did you route wire to the port bow speaker? The diagram shows you went across the anchor compartment. Is that correct? If so, how did you do that?

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  2 роки тому +1

      There is a double wall between the anchor locker and the interior of the boat. The wire was stiff enough that I was able to push it straight through the other side. Once it was on the port side, I was able to secure it to the hull from both sides of the anchor locker 👍🏻

    What’s the brand of the male to male rca connector? Wanna make sure I order one that’s marine rated

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  2 роки тому +1

      The one I had unfortunately wasn’t marine rated. I don’t think they make one, and if they did it would probably be really expensive and hard to get. I had the adapter on it for a season of salt water use, and I saw no corrosion. For extra protection, you can always put some dielectric grease on it to make sure the moisture stays out.

    Why not just run all 8 speakers off of one amp? Skar amps are 2ohm stable...

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  Рік тому

      Each speaker would have half the power. This is the most ideal way of wiring it all together.

    • @kirkknutson998
      @kirkknutson998 8 місяців тому

      @@boatingpropless No it would not! if you take it down to 2 ohms wired in parallel, it will actually double the power of the amplifier however, it will also increase the harmonic distortion and you would not be able to control the volume separately with the additional volume knob that you installed. 😊

  • @theoneandonlybright6145
    @theoneandonlybright6145 3 роки тому

    Nice video! I just have a question, why do you want double rca's in the amplifiers? You can just plug in channel 1 and 2 right and it will use the 4 speakers (I think??). Why use double rca's?? Thanks!!

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  3 роки тому +1

      So each amp has 4 channels (Front R, Front L, Rear R, Rear L). The radio has the capability of outputting a Front R/L and Rear R/L. By splitting those connections, you’ll be able to have a bit more control all 8 speakers by using the fade setting on the radio. The added knob will be able to completely adjust the volume independently of the other speakers as well.

    on the box it told me not to mount the amps to a box or a surface due to the vents under the amp, what should i do?

    • @boatingpropless
      @boatingpropless  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, you want maximum airflow to keep the electronics cool. Heat kills everything. I chose the use the treadmill pads to give it the extra mounting space and help dampen any vibration from transferring to the circuit boards. You can also use rubber furniture feet or even plastic spacers to lift it up a bit. 👍🏻
