    I removed my 4 in OEM speakers x 4. I installed the 6.5 kicker marine coaxial speakers 🔊 and the are much better. I ended up putting in (6) 6.5 kicker marine plus the kicker amp. It sounded really good & I wanted a little more volume along with good bass. Therefore, I added a 10 in kicker free air subwoofer plus an additional (2) more 6.5 kicker coaxial marine speakers. So now I have a total of (8) 6.5 coaxial marine speakers along with (2) amplifiers. The system ROCKS! The boat only originally came with (4) 4 in speakers - (2) were in the front, (1) was near the captain side, with (1) speakers 🔊 in the back. I love my 2024 Bennington Tritoon 22 SVSR SPS but the sound system wasn't strong enough. The boat is so smooth and the only other change I made was removing the aluminum propeller 15-1/4 Diameter x 15 Pitch and installing the Yamaha Reliance Stainless Steele 14-1/2 Diameter x 14 Pitch. The RPM'S and MPH improved drastically. I am out of my boat every chance I get now. The ride is awesome and the boat ride quality is smooth even in rough water 💧. The (6) 6.5 kicker marine speakers and amplifier were initially installed by Jeff at Tint World. Then CJ at AVC Marine added another amplifier with the Subwoofer plus (2) more kicker marine speakers. The Bennington TriToon was purchased at Atlanta Marine - Mike Norris is the best in sales. Kurt & Lisa are the greatest owners i have ever dealt with. I tested out numerous boats near Lake Lanier but the Bennington had the best ride!

      Yes, the best propeller for the 22 FT TRITOON 2024 SVSR SPS is the Stainless Steele Yamaha Reliance SDS 14-1/2 Diameter x 14 Pitch. Boy my boat is riding fast and smooth. Also, I am totally satisfied now with my awesome sound system and propeller. I enjoy listening to the blues while riding on the water 💧 Tritoons Rock - they are great for entertaining. It's like a party on the living room floor. Just make sure to get at least a 150 HP Motor or bigger with a Stainless Steele Propeller

Each zone out of my head unit has RCA left and right. Can you suggest how to wire the RCAs? The instructions are a bit confusing - it shows one run to channels 1 & 3, and the second run to channels 2 & 4. Appreciate any help. Thanks!

      Run zone 1 rcas to channels 1&2 and zone 2 rcas to 3&4. If you look at the amp 1&2 are together on adjustments and 3&4 are together. The rca’s are laid out vertically on the amp not horizontal. I hope this helps and thanks for the support. If you message me on instagram I can send you a photo.

      You can change out anything on any boat. As long as that stereo has preouts for your amplifier, otherwise I would say get a new head unit. Jensen is the bottom of the line when it comes to marine audio. Even my brand new boat came with one. I am surprised anyone is still using them. I replaced mine after the first use. Distortion was terrible above volume 27, the preouts were garbage and making my amp work harder, and the bluetooth was weak I couldn't even leave the boat. I hope this helps.

      As far as the speakers the 6 1/2 inch Skar audios would be a decent sounding system, but you should definitely put them on an amp. Also do not get a pile head unit. They are terrible head units. I always recommend starting with a new head unit and building the system as you go if you can’t afford it all at once but if you use a terrible head unit you’re just amplifying terrible sound and usually are overworking the amplifier. Your audio starts with the head unit then the amplifier and speakers. If you’d like me to send you recommendations let me know.

      I got the Infinity Reference 822MLW and they are super well made, they feel just as stout as JLs. Super cheap too, you can get THREE pairs on Amazon for $250.
      They're made by Harman which is the same company as JBL. They know sound haha.
      They're 150Wrms per speaker but being 8" they're much more efficient than the 6.5"s so are actually louder with the same amount of power. And of course the bass response is insane.
      I 100% recommend them. Im never going back to 6.5"s, if you have space to widen your holes to 8" DO IT, you won't regret it.

      When it comes to bass its all personal preference. My vehicles I like to rattle parts off LOL, my boat I like sound quality over pitchy highs or deep loud lows. You will definitely need some serious power for all that. I would run 2-1k amps, an extra battery or 2, and 4 gauge wiring.

      @@pugbongo Best decision I ever made! In total I have 6 sets of Skar 6.5's, 1 set of Skar 8's and one set of Rockville 8in tower speakers. 2 of the Skar RP150 amps and the Skar 300 monoblock amp. For bass I have one loaded 8inch bass tube. They have a 10 and 12 loaded tube now as well. The loaded 8 hits hard for what it is. I bought a Skar SDR8 sub and swapped it in the box and no one can believe it's an 8! I'm running everything off 2 group 27 AGM batteries. I have a $60 Amazon equilizer with zones selection and if I turn the bass down I can get several hours of mucic at the island. Granted my set up might be a little overkill for some but I waited untill Skar was 25% off site wide and have a $1000 system that keeps up with my neighbors $4700 jl system. The only down side is the Skar 6.5 are bigger than traditional 6.5's and are not a direct swap. They will require you to make a bigger hole to fit them. Easy to do with a Dremel though. The marine amps also seem to be on backorder as well so if the RP 150 is in stock, grab it!! you won't regret it and I would definitely suggest running an amp with them. Sounds like a completely different speaker. It's a night and day difference vs just running off the head unit. I had no audio experience and through watching FSH's channel and a few others I learned how to tune an amp properly and wired it all myself. I believe Skar is 15% off site wide at the moment as well. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar and from mild to wild you can't go wrong in my opinion. I would do it again in a minute!

I live in Canada so my boat sits in storage for 7 months! My question is if I go for the Skar speakers will I automatically get better sound then what I have and do I really need an amplifier? When I go to the sand bar I’m there for hours and I just want back ground music don’t need it really loud! Can you give me any suggestions? If so I really appreciate it! Also do you really believe the Skars are a really good speaker? Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon! If you recommend an amp I need it to be efficient thank you !

    • @THEFSHDUDE
      @THEFSHDUDE  3 роки тому

      To start off if you want better audio I always recommend adding an amp. If you are looking just to replace your speakers then I would get something with a low RMS from a reputable brand. Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, etc... all make a entry level marine speaker. Although the Skars are a great price, they do require more power than a head unit can produce. Ultimately, my suggestion would be to get the Skar Audio 6.5s and an amp. I believe you will be more than happy and you will always have the option of being louder if you want to. If you just replace speakers you can get better sound quality, but you may limit the amount of volume produced. I hope this helps. Also, if you do decide to go with Skar Audio speakers and an amp then go with the Kicker class D amplifier as the Skar Audio is a Class A/B, which is better sound quality but not as efficient.

    • @THEFSHDUDE
      @THEFSHDUDE  3 роки тому

      And yes, the Skar Audio speakers are probably the highest recommended speakers I can make for price and quality. I have been running them for over 6 years in marine, off-road, and my personal vehicles.

      Hello Blake,
      For the 8s and 6.5s I would run Skar 150.4AB Marine, but if you are on a tight budget the 75.4 would work it just couldn't handle it for prolonged periods at high volumes. The 150.4 has a built in cooling fan where as the 75.4 does not and that setup would cause it to run hot. As for the subwoofer and amp I would recommend the Kicker Marine setup. Whatever you decide to go with here I would just make sure to match RMS watts on the subwoofer with the amplifier. I hope this helps and best of luck.

      There are many options here and it all depends on your budget. I recommend the Kicker and Wet Sounds tower speakers. You can also build your own by purchasing speakers that you know you like for that application and getting a tower enclosure for them that works. The more bass you want the larger surface area you want to get. At a minimum go with an 8" tower speaker.

      Anyways, this is what I've decided on and would like your input on what type of amps you'd recommend.
      2 10" WS Revo tower speakers
      2 skar tweeters for the tower.

      4 8s
      Kmc5 head unit.
      1 12"JL sub (unless you have another recommendation)

      I highly recommend the Skar 150.4 1,000 watt RMS marine amplifiers for the full range speakers and the 800.1 or 1500.1 for subwoofers. Below are the links. I hope they help. I would put the 4 8s on one amp, the 4 6.5s and the tower speakers on another. Then the subwoofer on its own as well. But you could always get an all-in-one amplifier with a sub section as well. That setup is going to take some serious power, planning, and tuning.

    I really appreciate your videos. Very informative and well put together. I'm in the process of putting together a system for my 22' boat and have decided to go with the Skar speakers and Amp. I think its a no brainer after watching your videos and doing additional reviews. That being said, I'm struggling to find a quality head unit that fits my application. I would really like an opinion on the JL Audio MediaMaster MM-50 head unit but I'm open to other suggestions. Although the Kicker KMC5 is awesome, its really more than I need for my application. Keep up the great videos

    • @THEFSHDUDE
      @THEFSHDUDE  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. I like the JL MM50 but I would go with the Kicker KMC4 instead. It is $50 cheaper, is identical in options and performance, and has a standard 3" hole mounting cut out diameter so that it is easy to pull out and put into another boat and replace with a cheaper model when selling the boat. Whereas the JL has a square cut out that would have to be covered with StarBoard and re-drilled if ever a change was needed to a different brand. It has a couple more options as well like being 2 ohm stable for direct amplification of speakers (although I know you are using Skar and an amp) and a 3" display over JL's 2.8" display. To me it is a no brainer, but it also comes down to customer preference. The Kicker just gives you more versatility into the future for changing up the system, whether you want to pull it out and put in a new boat or you just want to put in another brand (other than JL Audio). You can't go wrong with either unit. I hope this helps. Thank you for the support.

If you upgrade the head unit to a premium one like the Kicker KMC4 or KMC5 it will definitely power them better with no amp but in the future you will need an amplifier to get higher levels of sound. I recommend starting with a new head unit first then add an amplifier and upgraded the speakers when you get more funds. The first and most important feature is the head unit. Poor quality source just gets amplified to louder poor quality sound if the head unit is poor. I hope this helps. PS: changing the speakers will get you better quality, but better sound comes from the head unit and the amplifiers.

    I’m new to this stuff and am thinking of installing some speakers in my 20ft bowrider. I usually like to turn the boat off and just float with the music on for a couple hours . I’m worried it’s gonna kill my battery. Do you usually recommend people getting a bigger battery when installing speakers, or is there another way to get around this?

    • @THEFSHDUDE
      @THEFSHDUDE  3 роки тому +3

      If you have not yet add a second battery in parallel with an isolator and make that battery a deep cycle marine battery. These are the marathon runners of the battery world. Starting batteries are not meant to be used for stereo use. Now, if you dont want to do all that you can just get a second deep cycle battery and run it in parallel, but you run the risk of draining your starting battery without the isolator. I hope this helps. PS: The higher amp hour rating (Ah) the battery has the longer you can run your stereo without draining the battery.

    • @THEFSHDUDE

      @@domthebomb3938 If you are unfamiliar with these terms I would recommend you have a shop do this professionally as you can cause serious damage to you boat's electrical system if done wrong. Parallel is when two batteries have a connection through a switch/isolator that allows both to be used at the same time which increases the time you can use the electronics. Parallel is when the positive current and negative current of each batteries are wired together. So positive to positive and negative to negative. What this does is keep the voltage the same while piggy backing the batteries increasing the Ah. When you use an isolator/switch it will allow you to run them separately or in parallel.

      Sorry yes they are going on a center console boat. 2 8’s under the rear bench seat, 2 8’s in on either side of the front facing bow seating area, and 2 6.5’s in the ttop facing driver. Thinking of the wet sounds htx-6 since they list a 300w x3 spec at 4 ohms, or 150w x6 at 2 ohms.

      @@leepowers498 that amp will be a little underpowered for the 8s. You will be running hot if you do use it and won’t get all of the power the speakers need. You need 250 watts RMS for each pair of 8s and that amp is not 2 ohm stable in bridged mode. Therefore you will only be able to get 100 watts RMS to each. I think that your information on the video needs to be updated. The Skar 6.5” speakers are putting out 80 watts RMS each speaker. You say that the DS18 Hydro Are putting out 100 watts as a pair and that is not correct. They put out 100 watts RMS individually and also include RGB. So from a price/feature standpoint it is a better offer. So per pair, you are getting 40 watts more RMS and you are also getting RGB.

As stated in the video the Skar Audio speakers are 160 watts RMS for the PAIR which is 80 watts RMS a speaker and that is what is said. DS18 are 125 watts RMS for the PAIR which is confirmed through their rep. I put out the information that is listed on their official website and nothing else. I am assuming you're getting the 100 watts RMS for the DS18 from a listing on amazon or elsewhere, that information is incorrect. Please feel free to go to ds18.com/collections/marine-speakers/products/hydro-6-2-way-marine-speakers-with-integrated-rgb-led-lights-375-watts-black-carbon-fiber if you want to read the specifications tab from DS18 themselves. If you differ with the opinion that is fine and I welcome the feedback, but I can only go off of what is listed on their website and verification with their reps. I also said that having that RGB option is great and if you are into that they are a great item for the price. I hope this clarifies any misleading information you may have had. Here is my 2 cents; I had one of these speakers running at 100 watts continuously for one hour and fried it. This was monitored by an SMD audio multimeter with real time wattage. In the end these are either over rated or misleading. You're welcome to bring yours around and we can crank it to 125 true watts for an hour and see what happens. How have you been monitoring your wattage on yours? All in all, I still would not recommend DS18. This is my personal feeling and to each their own. I hope this helps and finally finishes the discussion on this topic. Thank you for the engagement. It truly helps and shows that some companies are just better rated, more accurately labeled, and don't have any confusion in the product they put out. This brings to mind the Boss 3,000 watt amp my little brother ordered. After I informed him that this was wrong we then tested it and it only put out 800 watts LOL.
