They formed a team and hired some people who would believe in their vision. They researched old legends and stuff and got on track of the two legendarys. That's where the disaster began. Maxie had more interest in Groudon and thought it suits the role as the weapon to change the world at best. But Archie thought the opposite. That's where they began to disagree. They had fights about who was right and what they should do. And they found out that they're not as same as they thought. Maybe they looked back at points where they disagreed about little things, on which they didn't give much about on that time, but now they thought something like "How could I overlook this?" So they had discussions, maybe even a Pokémon fight. So they began to hate each other, most likely where very disappointed and in the end they split the team. My theory on the Draconid clan is that they split up to the other regions, either to 1) try and gather allies for an event that ended up being resolved before they could return, so they stayed to foster relations; 2) the clan fractured over differing ideals or 3) saw that their might was needed all over the world. Whatever the case, it's my hypothesis that after going their own ways, they ended up producing the people we know see as the various Dragon-type trainers across the various regions.
In Pokemon Masters, We learn that, while sailing with Briney back in the day, Drake encountered a massive storm. This storm caused his ship to be adrift for several days, having taken heavy damage from the storm. Drake is then saved by a wandering Dragonite. I still think the AU version of Brendan is descended from a branch of the same tribe as Zinna and there what I think is subtle hints that prove this. First Brendan moved to Hoenn from Johto and Zinna said there would be a time when the descendants would return to Hoenn and Brendan and his family moved from Johto to Hoenn back to the land where the original ancestors of the tribe lived, and then there's the fact throughout the Delta Episode Zinna told Brendan the legend concerning the ancient ancestors of the tribe and according to rules, and customs of the tribe Zinna as the Lorekeeper can only tell tribe members who prove worthy enough to hear it, and she tells Brendan the entirety of the legend.
Umm....there's actually an NPC in Mauville city that states that New Mauville, Sea Mauville, and Mauville city are all connected through a corporate group that all went under. They apparently held the legal rights to every one of them. This is the business man by the pokemart in the ORAS games.
i remember back in the day hearing a theory that the abandoned ship was actually ss anne and that thats why it never came back. also what if the quote about archie and maxie once being on the same team was actually a reference? like what if the developers originally intended for there to be one evil team that got split into two xD
About Maxie and Archie, the emerald chapter of the manga makes me believe they were after Jirachi and wanting to wish for a better world or just for the truth in itself but they argued and separated wanting to screw up each others plan in every way which is why they went look for Kyogre and Groudon afterwards as they were always fighting too
The third generation of Pokémon is my personal favorite. It by far has the best legendaries and all the new mechanics it introduced in the remakes makes it so much sweeter
Just because the ship isn't at the bottom of the water doesn't mean it 1) didn't "sink" or 2) is able to be recovered. Technically, it is "sunk," just in shallow water. And think about the options of trying to recover it: If it has to be seaworthy just to get it out of the shallows, then the hull would have to be completely repaired to be water-tight. And if it's essentially on land, it would need to be fully extricated from the mass of land under it, so that's going to take a strong ship to pull it out. Pulling it out also causes massive friction, so then you're back to the issue of the strength of the damaged hull. Both of those are amplified by how long it has remained there and that compounds VERY quickly. And then you have to remember that whatever caused the ship to be beached, might also cause any recovery efforts to end in the same way. And all for what? Is the ship worth all of that? The answer is almost always "no." And yes, I know that in a world where there are Pokemon, the argument can be made to use them for recovery, but that also puts them in danger and still doesn't solve the problem of the hull opening up further from friction and water flow once that space is open to the water. It's why you see ships more likely to be abandoned than recovered and why it's so difficult to save large aquatic animals once they have been beached and why it's even difficult for them to save themselves. Not much of a mystery in my mind.
Late to the party, but here's a theory that popped into my mind that would link a few of the mysteries in this video. The New Mauville was built as a doomsday bunker to house civilians in case of an cataclysmic event. With the Hoenn native Legendaries all sealed away at the time when construction begun, what would have posed as the threat? My answer? The Generation VI exclusive Mirage Spots. The Mirage Spots are the game's answer to reintroducing non Kalos native Legendary Pokemon in Generation VI. And how do they appear? By dropping out of portals that look eerily similar to the rings used by Hoopa. With knowledge that the Legendary Pokemon hold immense power, with the two biggest Hoenn native ones (by lore) famous for fighting each other, it is not illogical to infer that these portals could bring about powerful beings that could wreck Hoenn. We did get a very similar element with the Ultra Beasts just one generation later. I propose that Hoopa's ability to bend dimensions has inspired the Greater Mauville Holdings in Generation VI Hoenn to attempt to do the same through researching Infinity Energy. This is later shown in the Delta Episode, where Professor Cozmo and Steven Stone intend to use Infinity Energy to open the warp hole in space to send the meteor to another dimension. Professor Cozmo's father was a staff member aboard Sea Mauville, where they tried to harness Infinity Energy. The aforementioned strategy could also have been the Hoenn League's preferred way to deal with the aforementioned threat posed by Mirage Spots. I further propose that Maxie and Archie were also members of this project under the Greater Mauville Holdings. Maxie was probably in charge of New Mauville and its excavation, which would help explain why his Team Magma in Generation VI was focused on promoting humanity's progress. Generation VI New Mauville was meant to protect humans in the event of a catastrophy, after all. Meanwhile, Archie was probably involved with the operation of Sea Mauville. This first hand experience of the harvesting of Infinity Energy would explain why his Team Aqua in Generation VI was focused on returning the world to the Pokemon and free them from humanity.
Hoenn was my 1st gen. I love the region, my favourite starter is Blaziken, my favourite pokemon Absol is from Hoenn, I love E4 and Steven. Not to say anything about Team Aqua and Team Magma. I love their leaders and how they later realise their mistake. Learning more about what I call my "home region" makes me very happy. Those videos are very interesting. Please keep it up! Best wishes!
Pokemon Sapphire was my first game. I love the region and all its watery trunpety glory. I always chose swamp but Blaziken is my favorite in competitive, Metagross is my favourite non legendary tied with Shuckle. Kyogre is the best legendary, Steven is my favourite champion. Also Archie and Maxie aren't bad people they just let there dreams get ahead of them. They both care deeply for hoenn and want the best outcome in there minds. Any time I hear about hoenn I can't help but slap nostalgia goggles on as if I were going through route 111 and sand was getting in my eyes. 17 years later gen 3 is still my favorite gen and that's likely never going to change.
I was thinking, after mentioning the apocalypse bunker, if a war was to break out between the Regions in Pokémon who do you think the victors or survivors would be?
Assuming they use pokemon to fight, Sinnoh is home to some of the strongest, and the mountains would limit the size of potential battles. Hoenn also has potential with its islands. Kanto and Johto would be basically doomed unless they worked together.
5:45 The ship literally has a hole in the floor full a water and sitting in water shallow enough that you walk on the ship. A storm knocked the ship off course and it hit the map edge, punched a hole in it and ran it aground. Mystery solved..
I have a theory about New Mauville that is revolves around something that you normally wouldn't think about in a Pokemon game. Generation 6 is very war and destruction centric, thanks to Kalos. Even though the events of Kalos technically happen after the events of Hoenn in the games' timline, there is something that sticks out that actually relates to the real world. Hoenn is based off of the real life Kyushu region in Japan. What's in the Kyushu region? The city of Nagasaki. Now, this technically is closer in relation to Slateport in the Hoenn games, but then again the closest city to Slateport is Mauville. It's my theory that Hoenn was actually involved in the Kalos war 3000 years ago and that the Ultimate Weapon ended up striking Slateport - just like how Nagasaki was atomically bombed. Fast forward 3000 years later, and all of a sudden there is a rise in the number of criminal organizations in the Pokemon world. I don't think it's too farfretched to assume that Team Flare has been around well before the events of X and Y. What are some other themes in X and Y? Life and Death. What is one place you want to go to in X and Y? The Kalos power plant. It is my theory that Wattson is actually and ex-Team Flare member and that these experiments that killed Pokemon for Infinity Energy started in Kalos. Wattson, of course, being an expert in electricity, machinery, and electric-type Pokemon was possibly recruited into Team Flare as a scientist studying these things. At some point, he must have realized Lysandre's plans and left the team, just like Malva. When he returned to Hoenn, he reluctantly continued the experiments that he was doing for Team Flare in order to save the Hoenn region - specifically its most important city and his home - from having to endure another catastrophe like the neighboring Slateport did in the event that Lysandre was successful. The plans for New Mauville and Sea Mauville were then abandoned, however, once Ultra Wormholes were discovered. As we know, Ultra Wormholes were discovered during the events of ORAS. This meant that if Lysandre was successful, and the Ultimate Weapon was to set its sights on Hoenn, that and Ultra Wormhole could be opened to detour the destructive force to a different universe rather than trying to evacuate the citizens of Mauville into New Mauville. This would not only save that city, but most likely the people of the entire region.
The Nerdy Skater but if they take place at the same time, then is it not possible that when the S.S. Anne leaves Vermilion City after Red talks to the captain, it then sails to Hoenn and gets wrecked?
@@alexpine8295 I would think the abandoned ship is older looking and too run down for it to be a fresh shipwreck. Plus I'm sure NPC in the ship talk about it being there for a good while
It's really a pity that there is so little known about Archie's and Maxie's background. Must have been something pretty severe in their past that had them turn from team mates and likely friends to outright hating each other.
In the first mystery about the abandoned ship it is most likely Drake's ship. In pokemon masters Drake's exact words are "Long time ago, my friend Briney and I were trying to become the greatest sailors in the world. We dreamed of mastering every sea route there is. But then, one day, when I was out to sea, my ship got caught in a storm. Somehow, I avoided sinking, but I was adrift for days after that. I had used up the last of my food and water, so I thought I was done for, but then a Dragonite appeared in the sky." 👏 Nice video and nice theories btw 👌
Because Lugia's portal is within the Sea Mauville, I think that the sea guardian must have sunk it. Perhaps the people's plan to avoid the apocalypse was so misguided and reckless that Lugia saw fit to destroy the ship.
Archie and maxie being on the same team is probably related to pokemon legends arceus and how each of them were at a point head of diamond and pearl clan
Regigigas is probably the reason for their evil motivation later. Regigigas moved a continent and when they saw this one of them saw the massive continent as a big power and wanted all the land for himself and to create new land. For the other he saw the open sea and how he could be the first one to rule over it. To pursue their different ambitions they sought after pokemon that would either create continents or remove them completely (by taking them under water), just like regigigas did. This is further supported by the fact that in hisui you can find regigigas sleeping. which is where diamond and pearl clan was settled where both of them were head of. Maybe Regigas moved the Sinjoh region and created it? who knows
I honestly don't see the abandoned ship as a mystery. There is an NPC in I think Slateport City that states ships old are sunk or abandoned because they make great habitats for Pokemon!
Of you look at the water where the abandoned ship was you will see that it is the same color as shallow water. Meaning it likely just ran aground and it was too expensive to recover the ship after the crew was rescued.
Great vid as always Hoops. I thought of a theory about the abandoned ship during your video. What if Team Aqua attacked the ship, wanting to take it for their own but in the end of the attack, the ship was clearly ruined beyond use. Sadly there isn't really any hint for something like this.
In the abandoned ship, sense in the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire lugia is found in sea manville with is technically the abandoned ship. So maybe lugia was the cause of drake abandoning the ship??
These Hoenn mysteries are very interesting! I'd like to learn more about them someday in the re-remakes, if that ever happens. Or if we learned more about it in a different region somewhere down the line, that would be awesome!
I think when archi and maxie were on good terms with each other the team was called team obsidian or team stone because when lave and water come in contact with each other they create obsidian or stone and they could've got on bad terms with each other because in order for obsidian to be created lava has to be more in power and in order for stone to be created water has to be more in power and they probably got on bad terms because no what team they were on, obsidian or stone one would still be more powerful so what if one person was jealous they probably got into a fight breaking team apart into two teams, magma and aqua.
No one really ever mentions it, but the whole scene with the ghost & Phoebe "kinda" has three camera angles with ghosts. The first when it fades out and the third being obscured by the player. The second is right after the fade out, when Phoebe says, "I did my training on Mt. Pyre." Notice where the camera is in the room and where the girl was. The camera bobs up and down just as it gets closer to Phoebe and the Player. It's straight up the ghost's pov, which is why I said "kinda." We don't see them but they're there. Little update edit: The camera even hops down to a lower height level before moving forward. 10:40 - 10:44
Hi... great video and i love hoenn :) ... but in the case of phoebe... not to be rude but... its only one ghost girl for phoebe and the little girl that appears near her its believe to be phoebe's grandmother but as a child since you can find her on mt pyre talking to a tomb, the one on XY seems to be a completly different ghost girl
Just thinking about the first mystery involving the abandoned ship, I think that what happened was that it had been targeted by team Aqua before the player comes into the scene. This is judging by the fact that Archie the leader of Team Aqua actually commanders the submarine that was built in the game
For Sea and New Mauville? Honestly I suspect that it has to do with the war that Lt. Surge was part of. It seems to be the pokemon equivalent of WWII. And uh Real world Nagasaki is in the part of Japan Hoenn is based on.
I remember someone commenting in the game that old, no-longer seaworthy ships are deliberately towed out to sea to basically let water pokemon use them as habitats. As much as I want to say that explains it, I'm not confident about it - since most of the ship is still above the surface on that little rocky shore.
Perhaps the ORAS New Mauville bunker was created out of fear that a Hoenn from an alternate dimension (a.k.a. the one without Mega Evolution from Gen III) would do the same thing ORAS Hoenn's scientists were about to do: send a meteorite to the alternate Hoenn, since the ORAS scientists assumed that if they could develop the technology, the other Hoenn should be able to do it as well.
from my perspective, the boat isn't floating at all. it appears beached and marooned. the light blue tiles are meant to represent shallow water (shallow enough that characters can walk on it without surfing/swimming, like in the shallow water around lilycove and mossdeep cities). still creepy either way though.
What if they were originally part of the Dragon tribe and they realized that they were never never gonna get to see Rayquaza anytime soon so when they heard of Groudon and Kyogre from the Legends they formed their own goal and split from the Dragon tribe to form their own teams ?
New theory for you: The leaders of the evil team from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire used to be leaders of the dragon tamer clan. They stole Rayqueza a at from the Draconids using the Rayqueza helmet which controls Rayqueza.but something went wrong and that's why the evil leaders of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire do not get along.
Many ghost ships are abandoned because they were damaged and sinking, but, when the crew abandoned it, its bouyency was corrected and they continued floating/sailing. That's what I think is going on with the Abandoned Ship. Though there are people on it now, they might be far less than what was on it when it got damaged. Not to mention they could have taken some of the cargo off since then, lightening its load farther.
I always thought Phoebe's ghost girls had something to do with Phoebe's Banettes. Since in its Pokedex Banettes seeks after the kids that threw it away.
Drake mentions in pokemon master he was stuck out in sea once while sailing with briney. Something happened and got separated. Then a dragonite came to his rescue. Crazy stuff man
Theory: the 2 ghost girls are Liz and Kate, but they somehow diyed (yes is said diyid) and they used a machine like Mr. Fugi's to make the Liz and Kate we all know today.

Umm....there's actually an NPC in Mauville city that states that New Mauville, Sea Mauville, and Mauville city are all connected through a corporate group that all went under. They apparently held the legal rights to every one of them.
This is the business man by the pokemart in the ORAS games.
Laurel Aeon Project Azoth.
i remember back in the day hearing a theory that the abandoned ship was actually ss anne and that thats why it never came back.
also what if the quote about archie and maxie once being on the same team was actually a reference? like what if the developers originally intended for there to be one evil team that got split into two xD
Raid is back again
I believe the abandoned ship got grounded on a large sandbar thus your ability to walk on that area of the water
7.8 out of 10. Too much Raid: Shadow Legends
nice job. i especially liked the connection between the sunken ship and Drake
@Red Rum yes, Hoenn is wonderful! It really stands out!
My first region was hoenn too! And my starter was mudkip. Although I got lost in victory road and never got out, it was a good adventure.
@Red Rum can't really go wrong with any of the starters, and thats what I like so much about them.
My first region was kalos, yay.
Hi, Hoops. I believe the draconids are the same people as the dragon tamers, which would make Lance and Clair draconids.
Would Kalos be able to use the Ultimate Weapon?
EM11212 actually galar because eternamax eternatus
@@Unifoseum I was ignoring legendaries mostly.
Well if you count legends only a couple regions have legends that specifically want to protect their regions. Like zygarde, the wolf duo, etc.
5:45 The ship literally has a hole in the floor full a water and sitting in water shallow enough that you walk on the ship. A storm knocked the ship off course and it hit the map edge, punched a hole in it and ran it aground. Mystery solved..
maybe the post-apocalyptic thing the hoenn region was worried about was the volcano erupting and maybe astra was zinnia's mom
It's not just idly floating, its grounded fully on a sandbar, like the one you jumped onto right before going to the boat.
The portals that have the legendaries in them? Pretty sure those aren't ultra wormholes, they're portals made by the mythical Pokémon Hoopa
7:15 so archie and maxie are kinda like superman and batman from the injustice timeline 😂
Love the fact videos, listening to it while playing mystery dungeon dx, great video Hoops
KernowShinigamiViper Lil'Dragon thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!
HoopsandHipHop I love your videos. But please, WHERE IS THAT POKÉMON CARDINAL
The abandonned ship is stuck on a reef, that's why it's still mainly above water, my guess is that it got into a storm or something...
Headcanon: The Abandoned Ship is actually The S.S Anne.....
Sadly no, They take place at the same time, I thought the same as a kid
The Nerdy Skater but if they take place at the same time, then is it not possible that when the S.S. Anne leaves Vermilion City after Red talks to the captain, it then sails to Hoenn and gets wrecked?
@@alexpine8295 I would think the abandoned ship is older looking and too run down for it to be a fresh shipwreck. Plus I'm sure NPC in the ship talk about it being there for a good while
Jose Perez fair point.

Your welcome
It's really a pity that there is so little known about Archie's and Maxie's background. Must have been something pretty severe in their past that had them turn from team mates and likely friends to outright hating each other.
In the first mystery about the abandoned ship it is most likely Drake's ship. In pokemon masters Drake's exact words are "Long time ago, my friend Briney and I were trying to become the greatest sailors in the world. We dreamed of mastering every sea route there is. But then, one day, when I was out to sea, my ship got caught in a storm. Somehow, I avoided sinking, but I was adrift for days after that. I had used up the last of my food and water, so I thought I was done for, but then a Dragonite appeared in the sky."
👏 Nice video and nice theories btw 👌
Because Lugia's portal is within the Sea Mauville, I think that the sea guardian must have sunk it. Perhaps the people's plan to avoid the apocalypse was so misguided and reckless that Lugia saw fit to destroy the ship.
@@misterfunnyman Oh. Forgot about that guy.
I read that as Luigi for a moment and I was shocked
7:35 TEAM AQUA GRUNTS ARE SIMPS
Maybe Regigas moved the Sinjoh region and created it? who knows
2:16 is when the ad ends
I honestly don't see the abandoned ship as a mystery. There is an NPC in I think Slateport City that states ships old are sunk or abandoned because they make great habitats for Pokemon!
Of you look at the water where the abandoned ship was you will see that it is the same color as shallow water. Meaning it likely just ran aground and it was too expensive to recover the ship after the crew was rescued.
I am surprised that the pictures of Maxie/Archie with jurachi that you can find in the team Magma/Aqua bases didn’t get a mention it is a big mystery
Maybe Drake encountered Kyogre and it destroyed the ship
Great vid as always Hoops. I thought of a theory about the abandoned ship during your video. What if Team Aqua attacked the ship, wanting to take it for their own but in the end of the attack, the ship was clearly ruined beyond use. Sadly there isn't really any hint for something like this.
In the abandoned ship, sense in the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire lugia is found in sea manville with is technically the abandoned ship. So maybe lugia was the cause of drake abandoning the ship??
2:16 to skip Raid shadow legends
I see. You used the glitchxcity deoxys remix, one of my favorites.
archie and maxie were former team SKY members?! :O!!!!!!
The ghost started in gen 4 in the old chateau
There is also a woman ghost on that snow route heading to the Ice Gym City
Video actually starts at 2:49
Just thinking about the first mystery involving the abandoned ship, I think that what happened was that it had been targeted by team Aqua before the player comes into the scene. This is judging by the fact that Archie the leader of Team Aqua actually commanders the submarine that was built in the game
“With all being said...” -HoopsandHipHop favorite line
I know I’m late to this but you can get spirit tomb on the abandoned ship so maybe that has something to do with it
I'm pretty sure it's been established that team magna and team lava splintered off from team rocket because of some disagreement with Giovanni
For Sea and New Mauville?
Honestly I suspect that it has to do with the war that Lt. Surge was part of.
It seems to be the pokemon equivalent of WWII.
And uh
Real world Nagasaki is in the part of Japan Hoenn is based on.
"Something so big that even drake couldnt handle it"
Hmm yes...
(Checks notes)
Either a reaper leviathan or the quarantine enforcement platform.
I remember someone commenting in the game that old, no-longer seaworthy ships are deliberately towed out to sea to basically let water pokemon use them as habitats. As much as I want to say that explains it, I'm not confident about it - since most of the ship is still above the surface on that little rocky shore.
Even though this guy sounds like he's doing a Keynote all the time, he actually makes some pretty good videos. Keep it up!
The real ghost mystery is why some dead humans become human ghosts, and others become ghost Pokemon.
After watching this I probably wouldn’t want to live in Hoenn. Maybe Unova or Johto lol
@Pott Rott The Unovan PCs are older than 10.
Pott Rott good point, but I would want to live in Castelia city, it would be so cool!
@Pott Rott I know, just saying xD
from my perspective, the boat isn't floating at all. it appears beached and marooned. the light blue tiles are meant to represent shallow water (shallow enough that characters can walk on it without surfing/swimming, like in the shallow water around lilycove and mossdeep cities). still creepy either way though.
Emerald is the first pokemon game I got so these game are the favorite generation for me
Awesome video, keep up the good work!
What if they were originally part of the Dragon tribe and they realized that they were never never gonna get to see Rayquaza anytime soon so when they heard of Groudon and Kyogre from the Legends they formed their own goal and split from the Dragon tribe to form their own teams ?
5:18 Yes, because I was in a car accident once and I've never changed my clothes since then...
Crazy stuff man
I thought that the Abandoned Ship was explained in the Pokemon Adventures manga.
Gustavo Burciaga That’s a separate canon from the video games.
What happened in the manga?
in the manga kyogre destroyed the ship
When you’ve fallen so far that you need to accept raid shadow legends
I’m a simple man, I see Archie on thumbnail. I click.
Honestly I think the Draconid people are technically the "team" who represent Rayquaza
Back in hardenshipping memories...ah.Good memories.
Tatiana Duarte Still ship them to this day :D
superior taste in shipping I see
Theory: the 2 ghost girls are Liz and Kate, but they somehow diyed (yes is said diyid) and they used a machine like Mr. Fugi's to make the Liz and Kate we all know today.
