Theres more to the IGN rating. It wasnt just low. The reviewer admitted in the critique they got bored and quit in Apple Woods, basically meaning that they quit like 10% in and felt they could rate it accurately.
@@aquanaridllcl970 I tried reading this and what?? I mean IGN has always been shit, let's be honest. Not just with pokemon, but other games. I mean they gave COD ghost a 8.8, which is objectively a garbage game.
@@aquanaridllcl970 IGN is decentralized, meaning they give bad reviews because there's no underlying basis for the games they like. You enter the lottery any time you read a review.
23:54 - My personal theory is that the reason Azurill's nightmare has hostile versions only of specific folks from town is because those are the people who he knows to be the friendliest; while he's generally fine while awake, his memory of Drowzee (the Pokemon who'd acted _nice and friendly before suddenly turning hostile_ towards him and his sibling,) still haunts him on a subconscious level. After all, if _one_ Pokemon who'd seemed perfectly nice on the surface turned out to be awful, who's to say all the other ones _couldn't_ ? Poor thing's probably gonna be dealing with that trauma for quite a while longer... :(
@@borkerman here's the thing, every time they've been in trouble, You and your Partner help. you rescued him from Drowsy, you got their float. he sees you two as possibly the only two pokemon he can truely trust, so that's why you're not there ;3.
I think the unknown force that kicks you out of a dungeon when you have been on a floor too long is the dungeon collapsing in on itself. What I mean is that since mystery dungeons are randomised, they can only exist in a certain for so long before randomising again, and no one in the games knows how the dungeons randomise, they only know that dungeon randomising happens. So maybe the unknown force can’t actually be comprehended by Pokemon. The unknown force causes disturbances in the dungeon such as a wind picking up or the ground starting to shake, suggesting that it’s become more and more unstable, and if you wait too long you faint. Maybe you faint because the disturbances get too strong and cause a mini-natural disaster that KOs you, or maybe you get trapped in the dungeons walls when it is reforming into a new randomised layout, or the power that can randomise dungeons is so strong that that’s what KOs you. Idk lol it’s just what I think
When I first played through Darkness, my kid brain was a) terrified of the unknown force and b) assumed it was Arceus. For some reason. You spent too long in this dungeon so now God just shows up to kick you out.
I never questioned it because I never saw it as anythIng other than a game mechanic but I really like your explanation. Randomized dungeons can't stay the same way for too long.
I remember way back then I cried my eyes out when Nuzleaf betrayed the main character because I truly felt like he was in some way an adoptive parent to me because my real parents were never there for me. Man, these games truly have a special place in my heart, and I'm glad people still talk about them!
I remember a theory saying that darkrai is the player and that everything is in a time loop of constantly repeating itself. I just want more mystery dungeon videos tbh because I really love these games.
@Jeanne Udall nice to see you too. I've been very busy and just overall unhappy these past few days so seeing you again certainly helped brighten my mood.
I have seen the theory... And there's so much evidence towards it. You are darkrai. Second darkrai tries to kill you. Second darkrai becomes you in a new timeline while a third darkrai appears that is recruitable and then the loop continues. You think your human when your darkrai because the wormhole altered your memory
More info for the “the meteor is from ORAS’ world”. During the delta episode the Mossdeep scientists talk about warping the meteor via “mega energy” and Zinnia described a prophesy from the Dragonians (her race) that said “the meteor will be teleported to another world where megas don’t exist” while that means the ORAS meteor is different there is more to the theory, in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon they confirm there are multiple different versions of the world through Guzzlord’s ultra space. (This theory i’m mentioning here it based on another theory about X/Y) now theres a second theory that in another world AZ’s ultimate weapon succeeded and destroyed all humans (note: JUST HUMANS). The rest of the theory is that the mystery dungeon world is the world where AZ did destroy humanity (hence why there are manmade objects and pokemon know about humans) So how does that correlate to the meteor? In ORAS one of deoxys’ dex entries state that he was created by a “giant laser being fired into space”, in XY when it shows when the ultimate weapon was fired it shoots up into space. Basically the theory is AZ firing the ultimate weapon created deoxys and killed all the humans then deoxys tried to crashed a meteor into the world (canonically it did that because it was upset about the ultimate weapons blast). The rest is assuming the time between the “good” XY’s past and ORAS delta is the same as the “bad” version of XY’s past and PMD is the same.
I like the theory, but here's Deoxys' ORAS entry I believe you're referring to: "The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on this Pokémon's chest appears to be its brain." It only mentions a laser beam and doesn't describe anything about said laser, meaning for all we know Deoxys could've been created in a lab when scientists were studying a space virus. Another huge point is that that exact Dex entry is used for OG Ruby, so it was more likely in OR to stay faithful to the originals rather than actual lore. I also don't know what you mean by it apparently being canon that Deoxys was upset by the ultimate weapon's blast, is there a source on that? Basically, there really isn't much defining evidence that links Deoxys to AZ's ultimate weapon as far as I know.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but: There's this rare event in Explorers (idk if this can also happen in the other installments) where you simply just can't complete a mission because "The target is nowhere to be found" or something and the destination floor just becomes a single giant room. The first time I experienced that I was SO CONFUSED, even slightly creeped out. Now I just found it kind of annoying, but it still intrigues me that Chunsoft planned for that possibility and I still don't know for what purpose lol
I think it's because the player simply took too long to rescue the pokemon and it fainted from hunger. Another theory I have is that it took damage from the weather. I once did a rescue mission to Dark Crater and while I was doing the mission a Hippowdown's sandstorm caused the pokemon to faint while I was in the same floor as the pokemon. The text said "Pidgey fainted..." but it didn't sent me home.
Read the comment by Darkphenix Channel above: "the game tries to generate dungeon until it get one that working, and if after 10 times the dungeon is still not valid, it just generate a giant monster house on the all floor."
My personal belief regarding the Bidoof theory is that the friend Bidoof wished for was the partner, and that the hero showing up was totally unrelated. To grant this wish, Jirachi could’ve given the partner the relic fragment, knowing that they would’ve gone to the guild to ask about it. This would explain how a random Pokémon with no adventure experience got the object that summons a sacred living water taxi who can cross the sea of time. Even in the end of the first special episode, Bidoof mentions that he only asked for one new friend, but ended up with two.
I always figured bidoofs wish was never actually granted but rather jirachi was able to sense that we as the protagonist would join the guild soon enough and that bidoofs wish would come true regardless so he just let bidoof believe that he granted the wish in order to give him hope for rhe future and in reality, the events were already set on course out of convenience and timing of story plot events.
I'm honestly surprised Mix Elixir didn't make it onto the list, the fact it only restores PP for Linoone is so wacky and random, as a kid with not much internet access it was such a puzzling thing
I can answer this one! It's a translation problem; Max Elixir in Japanese is ピーピーマックス (PP Max). The word max (マックス) is similar to the Japanese name for linoone (マッスグマ), making the item Mix Elixir in Japanese be a pun, ピーピーマッスグ (PP Massugu), which means it's an item that only works on マッスグマ. This is the same for all of the 'fake items' in mystery dungeon, like the reviser seed (ぷっかつのタネvs ふっかつのタネ aka reviver seed) and whatever the oran berry one is called (オレンのみ vs オレソのみ) (oran berry vs oreso berry). Source: I'm Japanese and have 3000+ hours on the game since childhood :)
Kaigan Kaya’s comment is definitely more interesting but yeah it’s the weird spelling of fake items. In French it’s max elinir, which works well. Dunno why he English version didn’t do the same
A few things I wanted to mention: Something I think should be on the iceberg is: in Explorers there is a special conversation you can see if you go back to Lapras after Grovyle returns to the future. I encountered this as a kid when I needed to leave Temporal Tower and Hidden Land to grind, and I've never heard anyone else mention it. Also, big spoilers for Gates to Infinity: it confirms the "secret council" bit about Gardevoir. There's a council of gods that brings humans into the Pokemon universe to try and save it, and a phenomenon that the villagers sometimes see turns out to be the humans that failed returning home.
@@Poketom-ob1dl wait...that could indicate something...if someone manages to form some sort of, dimensional tether to these games, and fire it into a black hole, we may get something back. Because black holes could actually be wormholes to other dimensions or universes. One may exist where pokemon are real. And if that's true, and we can successfully get pushback from something on the other end, we might have a means of entering their world if we can make contact. To show them that we are out there. And that they may call upon us through our systems. To plunge us from our bodies, to become comatose, and to eventually return shall we succeed or fail.
I find it funny that Gates is the only one to show other humans failing to accomplish their mission. Of all the games to show that in, they choose the easiest one.
God the unknown force was so cool as a kid! I always wondered if it was like your character losing themselves and becoming violent like the rest of the pokemon in the dungeons.
Some more interesting things I wanted to point out: - there’s an item called the Coronet Rock in explorers that mentions Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh. I think it’s used to evolve magnetron and Probopass - At the very end of the game Team Raider appears on the beach after saving Dugtrio from the water. I remember reading a bunch of crazy rumors about how if you got the guild master rank wigglytuff would run to the beach to see Team Raider and some kind of cutscene would play -Apparently Croagunk already passed his graduation exam and can leave whenever he wants, but he stays at the guild because his cauldron can’t be moved -Frozen Island in episode 5 is actually Blizzard Island in the future
Ok, theres this one rare thing in explorers of sky that happened to me once. Theres this fake reviver seed item called reviser seed or something like that. An enemy pokemon, an electrode picked it up and tried to revive itself with it when I killed it. Then a special rare dialogue happens, when the Electrode says something like "oh wow, this was a reviser seed. How stupid! Guess I die now, hahaha!" Then dies. It was so weird and random.
Spoilers, but then again why else is anyone on this video? I think you should've talked about the explorer Scizor from Explorers. We hear about him being lost from Mr. Mime, a town citizen that appears from time to time, who talks about how he went missing in the Blizzard Island. Then, we go there to find out he was frozen, whether by Froslass or by the natural frigid cold, for a great amount of time. Once Froslass is defeated, he breaks out of his frozen tomb and you take him back to Treasure Town. Iirc(haven't played the game in a long time), he talks about how he used to be a part of the Exploration Federation and gives you a secret rank. I always wondered about what things might've been like in the time period he had been a part of, whether it's a few decades or even hundreds of years.
I loved that event it was such a nice hommage to rescue team cause even the soundtrack of the blizzard isle was the same from rescuers + its a rescuing mission I always thought that he came from the rescuers world
The unseen force in PMD always reminded me of the similar force that kicks you out of the Abyssal Ruins in Pokémon Black and White. I wonder if anyone else has ever made that connection?
A theory I haven't seen mentioned related to the "Recurring characters between games" point is the theory that Team Charm's Gardevoir and Medicham are the same characters as the Gardevoir and Medicham in Red/Blue Rescue Team. I think the only real evidence for this is that the Team Charm Gardevoir and Medicham are in Super Mystery Dungeon and also have connections with Gengar and Ekans, but it's a fun theory regardless.
what i like in super mystery dungeon is when you recruit pokemon the friend tree connects to all teams, connections and references. when you have Alakazam, Charizard and Tyranitar they are connected as team Act. hell if you recruit Wigglytuff and the guild members they're all connected in the tree
- Stairs in nature doesn't make sens, you can't have floor in a forest. - Kangashkan statues are teleportating items - When you are with Bidoof in expedition you end up sleeping at some point, it takes 5 seconds and the all squad is at the exact same place when they wake up. They lied, they didn't sleep. - If you refuse an egg, they give you money I also have a bunch of facts on the dungeon generation but it's more bugs than anything, I reverse engineered pretty much the all system now and it's nerdy stuff
I think the stairs are just there for the game design and only symbolise progress. In the "real" dungeon the pokemon would probably just be going deeper into the forest or closer to the outskirts
@@Reionder It's a pretty good way to not use the usual teleporter and I like it but a little more would be cool. Like it works fine in a tower or a cave but not that much in other places
@@umber6937 the game tries to generate dungeon until it get one that working, and if after 10 times the dungeon is still not valid, it just generate a giant monster house on the all floor. The generator have an unused algorithm to generate maze room, just like the one with water maze, but the wall seams create problems so it's just not used. Some parts of the code are actually wrong, like the generation use a check only on the right 4 times instead of all direction. Making more possible failed dungeons. And a dungeon that doesn't work is because some parts can't be liked to the others. There is a bit of jank eveywhere in the generator, it's pretty weird that we can't see any problem in games. But it's actually a very smart algorithm made for very simple hardware. (My english might also be jank tonight, sorry)
I'm surprised the theory that the human in PSMD is the hero from GtI wasn't on the iceberg. For anyone who doesn't know the theory, here is how it goes: -The Dark Matter from Super shares many similarities with the Bittercold from Gates: both are crystal-like structures formed from the negative emotions of pokemon, both have vulnerable red cores and durable outer shells, both cause objects around them to float, and both will destroy the world if left unchecked. It is very likely that the Dark Matter and Bittercold are the same thing, or at the very least are related to each other. -Throughout PSMD, the player is told that they have fought the Dark Matter before. This is most likely referring to the fight against the Bittercold in GtI. -At the end of PSMD, the player doesn't return to the human world. This is because they were already permitted to stay in the pokemon world at the end of Gates. -If you recruit Hydreigon in Super, he will claim to recognize you, then gets concerned when he learns you lost your memory. A side effect of this theory is that it implies that the partner from Gates was actually Mew in disguise, which can possibly be explained: -Mew can use Transform. -The partner in Gates is friendly and trusting despite everyone else being cruel and distrustful. This is similar to Mew in Super, who is perpetually happy and quickly chooses to travel with the player after they meet. Lastly, here is some unrelated GtI trivia that could be added to the iceberg: the residents of Post Town have their own little stories that play out as you progress through the game. Here are some highlights: -Rampardos trying to ask out Cinccino, but being too nervous. This one is probably the most well-known. -Ducklett, Swanna, and Trubbish: Trubbish is a guest at Swanna's inn, but he always leaves a mess wherever he goes. It's Ducklett's job to clean up after him and complains to Swanna, who is too nice to kick him out. Feeling guilty, Trubbish eventually leaves on his own. -Dwebble's letter: early in the game, there is a Dwebble in town who claims his shell is cracking and that he needs to find a new home. If you keep talking to him, he tells you that the crack is getting worse. One day, Dwebble disappears. If you talk to Swanna after Dwebble leaves, she will give you a letter Dwebble wrote for you before he left, explaining that his shell finally broke and he was to embarrassed to say goodbye in person.
Also after you bring the human back (oof, spoilers) it turns out Dwebble lied about the crack and tries to blame his Crustle buddy, before promptly apologizing. Also, Crustle says “my rock isn’t a tiramisu”, proving tiramisus are in fact canon in the Pokémon universe.
I’m really tempted to think that Bittercold traveled from space through the Meteor that Rayquaza blew up may have housed it. Sometime in the future Darkrai is tempted to screw things up, leading to Dialgia also going ‘Primal’ because its Bittercold just not really acknowledged until Gates of Infinity. Story moves on its beaten but then Super happen and Everyone is here! Meaning somehow everything has happened & did happen but all the timelines from prior games got shoved into one place. Bittercold evolves into Dark Matter with way more power to twist the Pokémon to do its bidding considering Super’s story. I think they wanted to wipe everything to zero by having everyone here in one place.
Wasn't it so that the events of the past Dark Matter encounter had happened a long time ago? A lot of things related to said time(s?) are written in ancient languages or are labeled as being very old. Meanwhile, all the characters from GTI are wandering around in SMD, talking about their time in Post Town as if it was mere months ago. This on its own is of course rather weird, for all of the locations of the previous games have seemingly been wiped from existence with nobody commenting on it. Let alone giant parts of the maps not aligning and whatnot, but I digress... I like to think that the Bittercold was a bit of a pawn to test the waters created by Dark Matter. The latter in the way we know it likes to take over the home of some being and use its powers to achieve its own nefarious goals. With the Great Glacier seemingly being a long-time phenomenon, this may be no different. Maybe there was a being similar to Xerneas that owned said place, only for it too to be exploited by the edgy orb. The places in which the two are found hanging certainly do look alike in one shape or form from what I can remember. Maybe these space-places were created by similar beings? So perhaps after waiting a very long time to strike again, Dark Matter figured it'd be a great idea to put up a puppet and see how the world would respond before it would make its own return.
@@UnsavedChanges That is an interesting idea. The hardest part about theorizing about the PMD timeline is explaining why so many characters that lived in different points in history coexist. The most common explanation is that the references to the previous games through characters are non-canon, despite appearing in the game (unfortunately, this discounts the evidence that Hydreigon recognized the player). Since posting my original comment I have seen a variation of the theory that attempt to explain this: The modified theory states that the Dark Matter was defeated by Mew and an unknown human thousands of years ago, likely before any of the games. Eventually, it came back on the Mist Continent as the Bittercold, where it was "destroyed" by the GtI player. Some time after, the player realized that the Bittercold would return and agreed to give up their memory to find a new way to stop it, leading to Super. In addition to explaining how GtI characters exist in Super, this reorders the timeline in a way that corrects my biggest problem with the theory: architecture. If all the PMD games exist in one continuous timeline, then it doesn't make sense for GtI to be the first to happen. Based on the buildings we see in game, it makes much more sense if Explorers happened first, long before the other games (supported by the fact that mystery dungeons are a relatively new phenomenon in PMD2, popping up due to the destruction of time). Rescue Team, Gates, and Super appear to take place in relatively close succession. If PMD1 takes place shortly before Super, it might explain why the player suggested they have their memories wiped. If we view the character cameos as canon, then this is also when Explorers's Future takes place. Lastly, this requires an explanation for how characters from PMD2 past and future exist at the same time, since Celebi said generations had passed between the two. My theory is that the Guild members we meet in Super are actually the descendants of the Guild members in the original game. We know it is rare for Wigglytuff's Guild to find new recruits, but the children of recruits can join the Guild (like Diglett). This also explains why Wigglytuff is female in Super when she was male in Explorers (though there are other possible explanations for this).
I remember hearing a theory that was discussed a very long time ago is that the Zero Isle Dungeons is where the Pokemon you rejected to recruit (mostly from missions & eggs) go to. Kinda explains the wide range of Pokémon you see in the dungeons.
Always thought that the winds were just the shift of the dungeons, because they're mysterious in which the room are always randomly generated. in which the dungeon kicks you out when it needs to change, Its weird, I might be wrong about it, but thats my thoughts of it
I'm quite surprised the fact that Ampharos was planning to have you killed isn't on here. Let me explain. (spoilers, duh.) In SMD, after you join the Expedition Society, you, your partner, and Archen set out to the Air Continent. There, you witness Latios and Latias crashing in the mystical forest. You head over to investigate, only to find they've turned to stone. Entei shows up to investigate it himself and wrongly assumes you're the one behind it. He warns you with what is essentially a death-threat and bails. (he says he would 'not be so merciful' next time.) Just after this, there's a cutscene where Ampharos is stress eating or something after being told about the events. The day after, he comes up with the idea to have a fun outing with everyone really soon! How delightful! Destination: Fire Island. The home of Entei. What a funny coincidence. Once there, he divides everyone into groups. You and your partner are paired with Buizel, who's taken to the side by Ampharos before you head in. Ampharos warns Buizel about Entei and tells him not to engage if they make contact, thus proofing Ampharos knew VERY WELL who was up there, warning a SINGLE ONE of his comrades about him. It's very strange to have him tell this quite crucial fact to Buizel in confidence, hiding it from you and the partner, despite knowing what happened in the forest a few days prior. You head on to the summit and make it there first. Strange, given the other groups existed out of what should be fully experienced adventurers instead of just ONE paired with two children. There, Entei shows himself. Buizel disregards the warning he got and attacks Entei seemingly just because he wants to see if he can make a dent in his skull. This obviously doesn't happen and he's thrashed. Entei then refers to his death threat ("You! Did I not tell you?! That I would not be so merciful next time!") and after destroying Buizel, implies he'll get on with it. ("I must admit I respect your foolish bravery! I have no choice but to admire your will! And so it is with great respect… That I finish you off!") The only reason he does not succeed in kicking the everliving stuff out of you is the scarf you are wearing deciding to show its magical powers and make you much more powerful. So you destroy him instead, only for Ampharos and the others to emerge and tell Entei that this is all a misunderstanding. He leaves, you have lunch on the mountain and go home. All happy end. This is never brought up again in the game as far as I am aware. Let's break it down. Ampharos knew Entei would want you dead. Ampharos knew Entei was at the site where the two were turned to stone. Ampharos DID NOT know the scarves you wore were magical. So Ampharos essentially sent you on a suicide mission disguised as a fun outing. He knew that once you would get up there, one in two things could possibly happen: 1: You are dead. 2: You are turned to stone. Either way, he would have his answer. He could never have guessed a magical event would allow you to live. He was fully prepared to throw you under the bus for that slither of information: the answer to Entei being the one turning everyone to stone or not. It was a sacrifice he was willing to make. He was prepared to have two children he barely knew killed for a yes/no answer and nobody judges him for it. He's this full happy guy all throughout the rest of the game, wishing you the best and offering you a job. No sorry. No compensation. Just business as usual I suppose. If Wiggs is on it for 'committing a felony', shouldn't Ampharos be on here for attempted murder?
I'm currently replaying super mystery dungeon and this kind of makes sense. You should have even add that he tries that plan twice by letting you confront krocodile (it's a similar situation but they give you awhile and bunnelby probably to make progress on the research).
Oh wow, I had forgotten about this comment… been almost 3 years already I think. February I think it was. I hadn’t considered this part, and re-reading my own comment recaptured my interest, so I dusted off the script. While what you say is true, some key points make it a little less of a direct ‘retry’. Now Dedenne delivers this news on the spot, so this one is at the very least not premeditated. He says the following after hearing it (minus responses in between): “I see. I thank you for that information, Dedenne. Very well. I had intended for us all to go together to the Prehistoric Ruins… but it seems a change of plans is in order. We’ll have a Krookodile pursuit squad and a Prehistoric Ruins expedition squad. So let’s split into two groups. First up, those who will go after Krookodile… Partner, Human. Will you two please go?” “If he’s headed for the village, I need people who know the lay of the land. And also… I hear you are worried about your loved ones in the village. However, it’s far too dangerous to send just the two of you.” “We need to consider that Partner and Human may have to battle Krookodile. We need to find out as much as we can before it comes to that.” This time he directly states that what they’re about to do is dangerous, and at this point, the two are well aware of what that danger is. Additionally, he asked them if they’d want to go, it wasn’t much of an order. He also has an actual reason for choosing them… though I bet the guys that are making a literal map would know the land directly around their own town just as well, if not better. And this time he knows they have a ‘funny’ garment with which they should be able to bench-press Krookodile if he doesn’t turn them into statues. So he does kinda send them on a path to death again to just distract and get a yes/no answer, but this time he asked, and the two themselves agreed while knowing the coming danger. So while you are right, I don’t think it’s completely fair to say he just ‘tries it again’. He more or less kindly asks if they’re willing to jump off the bridge by themselves, wearing a parachute that may or may not trigger or even work to keep them safe might it indeed be as dangerous as it looks. And they oblige. I had quite a bit of fun going back through this to investigate, which I guess is evident just looking at this comment... So I guess I gotta thank you for bringing it to my attention. Have a happy new year! ;)
@@UnsavedChanges It's good the explanation but I was referring to the first time they send you to krocodile when the warnings start appearing in lively Town and they send you to protect Entei in separate groups. I guess ampharos was willing to see a yes or no response no matter of what, in this case Entei was the one to fall. I progressed trough the prehisctorical cave part and I refreshed some parts, just to say that ampharos wasn't like sacrificing but just having half baked plans that for the cause of the plot results into having our protagonists in trouble. I just came to that conclusion.
Oh, the Showdown Mountain thing… The only part I could remember involving Krookodile was the Revelation Mountain one. I now realize your typo didn’t mean ‘a while’, but Mawile in your comment. If I picked up on that I think I’d have seen I was in the wrong place. Going back again, It does seem that Ampharos originally didn’t even want the two to come along. Rather, he’s talked into bringing them right after originally stating; “You will watch over our headquarters. This is too dangerous for you.” So yeah, it indeed seems Amp’s just good at launching half-baked plans and being easily persuaded (and/or suspiciously OK with getting the duo in trouble. Anything for a “please” and those answers). Though I’d say it’s the duo’s fault as well after Fire Island for rolling with it. Twice. I guess we gotta give Amp a bit of a break, the lad’s got some issues upstairs. They show it in multiple ways; his unhinged stress-eating, his nonexistent sense of direction… as the leader of an exploration group… Maybe he should keep to his paperwork. >.> Now you could wonder if this low-level insanity is perhaps to blame for Fire Island rather than true malicious intent, but he did take Buizel to the side at the entrance to explain the threat of Entei to ONLY HIM, so he was well aware at the time, and purposefully hid the info from the others. And he essentially planned the whole thing based on Entei's threat to the duo. So that one stays, no pleading insanity there. At least to me. Oh well, I guess the eventual outcome of all these misadventures is good, so… I guess we should be thankful for his questionable leadership.
What about the theory that you are darkrai. That at the end of the game when darkrai goes into the time portal and it gets shattered he turns into a human (you). Essentially trapping him in a sort of time loop(?)
well, here's one thing that could go against it, for starters; transmuation is wack in thies games, secondly, it would most likely fit Wigglytuff because he has some sort of power since he was a kid making him more unnatural than a regular igglypuff (highfully dought that dialga would remember the past events in which the human might know, but maybe) lastly, I would just say that the human was with Grovyle and had the gift in which was said to be an unknowned art from who know what(maybe arceus)
I've never seen this theory until today and, while it is cool, I'm sad to say that Darkrai is implied to have become an amnesiac after Palkia scatters his portal... You can find him at random in a select few dungeons as long as you have the Secret Slab or Mystery Part in your bag, but he has a -22% recruit rate either way.
Combine that with the Bidoofs wish theory and you have the perfect time loop horror movie. You would have to travel back in time to kill Bidoof or Jirachi before the wish was granted, to finally get releaved and vanish out of existence.
*Moves that give me a heart attack when I hear it being triggered:* *Fury Attack *Rock Blast *Helping Hand (in a Monster House) *Acient Power *Earth Power *Hydro Pump *Roar of Time *Agility *Discharge And wait for it... *SUBSITUTE* (in the first 2 games) Bruh. Do you know how horrifying it is when you're entire team TURNS AGAINST YOU?!
19:36 the way I see it, depsite them surviving, it still works. They still were ready to sacrifice themselves and even convinced Dusknoir to do the same! They still were ready to die for the greater good, them surviving was just like a little reward for their bravery. Also in the morning sun is wonderful and you couldn't rip it from my hands even if you tried.
Another broken move in the mystery dungeon series is Perish Song it's also a move that affects all Pokémon in a room and if it lands, all Pokémon will feint within 3 turns so if you aren't within 3 steps of the stairs you pretty much lose and the worst part is knocking out the Pokémon that used Perish Song won't get rid of it's affects.
I remember going through the final maze in explores of sky. My partner had fainted floors ago. I was hit by a perish song and I had no clue what to do and had gotten so far. Turns out using protect will save you from perish song as long as it’s in effect on the turn you’re supposed to faint.
About the Itemizer orb, my theory is that it doesn't literally turn you into an item, but rather just puts an item in your place. That's why you inexplicably end up outside the dungeon, not transformed. That could either mean putting you where the item was or just somewhere random nearby (I think the second) The same could be said for Pokémon traps, basically teleporting random Pokémon from the dungeon to where the items were. As for the items themselves (and money), I think it's brought in by Pokémon entering the dungeon and then losing them (discarding them, dropping them after fainting, etc) and they get randomly placed with everything else by whatever force the "wind" is
Once I tried the Sky randomizer and got my butt kicked repeatedly so bad because the first mission for Spoink's pearl had Espeons with Roar Of Time all over, and I learned if you die two or three times in that dungeon Chatot tells you Wigglytuff wants to talk to you, and he gives you a Reviver Seed and I think an Oran Berry while Chatot tells you not to screw up again lol I asked around on reddit and no one else had seemed to know about it Edit: oops you showed it at the end, but it was interesting to see the randomizer after mentioning it lol
I'd say Mystery Dungeon is also a type of game that is kind of by its nature going to not get good professional reviews. It requires you to invest quite a bit of playtime to really get into it, and a professional reviewer is only going to put a few hours into each game.
But that makes no sense in regards to other roguelikes (I realize that I am a year late lol). Isaac and other roguelikes post the indie renaissance all score high because people reviewing them do like roguelikes. I imagine IGN/other companies don’t have a guy who likes both Roguelikes and pokemon? USgamer did have a positive review of the game though, and the dude did play BRT/RRT as a child, so yeah. I’d say you need to have your brain set to: “Pokemon good” and “Roguelikes good”.
About the "kecleon brothers raid dungeons to supply their shop" , there is a bit of dialogue in the red and blue rescue games where the purple kecleon says something about the younger (green) brother disappearing sometimes to sell items in dungeons.
Something like "sometimes kecleon from the kecleon shop goes missing. Where could he be? 'I know that greedy character is probably doing business somewhere' 'My brother would never be taking items from dungeons and selling them to helpless explorers'" It went something like that.
FACTS. SO MANY FACTS. Also, I need a comic that can show how the first human ended up in their world. Maybe we can link it to our own. Showing these "Games" In a new light. Especially if we reach a point where these games can scan the player directly. To determine their favorite pokemon.
@Chris TheArcticFox tru though. The fandom is quite wholesome in my eyes. The thing that interests me in furry anthro is the art. Just other people making floof bois. Somewhere at the PMD Reddit there was a topic that said PMD is somewhat related to the furry fandom like the said Pokefurs :>
What an iconic team name. EnbyRights! Yoom-tah! As far as Grovyle and the rest of the future gang being able to exist concurrently with the characters from the present in Super Mystery Dungeon goes, well... I mean, to be fair, they do have a Celebi on their side, and Celebi does have the ability to travel through time. Perhaps Grovyle and the others traveled back to the present to stop by and check in on the hero and partner at some point after the events of Explorers, and with all of the games seemingly taking place around the same time period, it was sort of a matter of right place, right time when it comes to meeting the Super team. Admittedly, with the rescue request not being locked to any one dungeon, or even locked to the Grass Continent where Explorers takes place, there's no particular evidence of this, but I'd personally like to think they'd all keep in touch when the whole World Ending Shenanigans are said and done, and I don't think it's too much of a stretch given the hero was Grovyle's own partner in the past. If we assume that out of the three Explorers games, Sky, being the final updated version, is the one recognized as canon (or if we assume that the Pokemon of the future being allowed to continue existing happens in all versions/timelines and we simply only see the hero's side of the story in Time and Darkness, much like Bidoof's wish seemingly happening in all versions, onscreen or off, to bring about the events of the game), it's a possibility at least! It's speculation more than anything, perhaps, but I'd like to think it's at least got a reasonable foundation :p Be gay, do crimes; be gay, mess with times.
let's go crazy with the theorization: if the meteor in Rescue Team is a meteor from a Delta Story timeline where Zinnea failed, then what if the human turned Pokemon is Zinnea being given a second chance to save everything
Except we all know that Team Plasma never intended to help Pokemon. They just wanted to be the only one that could own them so they could rule the world unopposed.
Fellow pmd fan here! I've had a theory about the gardevoir thing (spoilers for Gates) So later on the game, you find out that the lights over the valley are actually other humans turned into pokemon who where defeated by kyurem, and turned into light to return to the human world. You find out the one calling the humans to the pmd world was hydreigon, who isn't a pokemon as well. He is the Voice of Life, the embodiment of pokemon life force. In the beginning of the game, he gives you a quiz like questionnaire to figure out what pokemon is best suited for you (even though you really choose who you play as). There was also implied to be multiple voices of life around the world I think (been a while since I played lmao)So maybe Gardevoir had to consult the voices of life in order for them to agree to bring a human into the pmd world 🤔 just my theory tho. You should totally finish gates, trust me, its a great addition to the series with alot of other cool twists. Keep up the good vids!
Very well done! I don't see enough people dig into Mystery Dungeon like this and this is exactly what I wanted to see out of that original iceberg pic. Lot of stuff I didn't know even though I'm very into PMD! Also really heartening to hear the transgender positivity :)
On the wind/unseen force in dungeons, it has an explanation in some of the non-pokemon mystery dungeon games, such as in Etrian Mystery Dungeon it being a warping related to the magic of the Ambermen, god-like beings which are a byproduct of the giant tree in the area. Perhaps the wind and such could be related to some dark magic used by the humans of the PMD world, before their dissapearance? it's a bit far-fetched but it's an idea at least.
I just looked it up, it sounds really fascinating! Yet extremely obscure, all I could really find is one post on it leading to a privated video, I'd be interested in seeing it if it is true.
@@SpaceySoundy yeah, I remember seeing a video with it, the person was playing as a Pichu in Tiny Woods with the kangaskhan in their party. They were walking around, then the game froze and the music was skipping nonstop. Creepy . Edit: This isnt the exact video, but it has it ua-cam.com/video/koAEZ-1PB7M/v-deo.html
I have my own theory on the Rescue Team meteor. It's not actually a meteor, but a dwarf planet getting so close that it and the pokemon world become affected by the Roche Limit, which is where the gravity of the two bodies start ripping each other apart. In the game it's the cause of all the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, which is exactly what would happen in such a scenario, even getting worse as it got closer. The reason I call it a dwarf planet is because of it being an absolute unit of a space rock, big enough to be a sphere, which would classify it as a dwarf planet at such a size. Because the pokemon world is larger than the dwarf planet, the pokemon world doesn't get ripped to shreds at the last moment, but the dwarf planet is at least small enough to not get ripped apart entirely until Rayquaza blasts it. Rayquaza being able to completely obliterate it and turn it into billions of smaller meteorites was definitely partly thanks to the dwarf planet already being too close and being unstable. I'm not a scientist or one of the writers, so take my theory with some salt.
I was having a pretty awful day, so i decided to finally watch this video and already my mood turned into smiles all round! It's honestly super fun hearing someone talk about their favourite series, especially if it's one that you share (if my pfp wasnt any indication lol) I find it a little funny that being a pmd fan myself, i found myself playing games that the same pmd developers worked on (one being aitsf) It's completely different from the pokemon ip but... the wild writing and the music feels weirdly reminiscent but almost if not just as impactful imo. i don't think I can stop loving the pmd series and I'm sure it'll keep changing peoples lives as time goes on
The Kecleons raiding dungeons for items is part of the original PMD. There you got a newspaper every day per post. One entry states that there is a rumor that the Kecleon Brothers get their Items from dungeons making them apparently of lower quality
It’s actually stated in the remake that the power plant friend area was “created by humans long ago” (it might’ve also been in the original game too) so that holds weight to that theory.
The PMD series is by far my favorite collection of games! Your video was really interesting to watch, especially with all of the theories surrounding the games. Nice job! Also an interesting thing I noticed in EoS, I was able to recruit Darkrai (after MANY attempts lol) and when interacting with him some of his dialogue hints that he still knows he is meant to be 'evil', but doesn't know how or why due to his loss of memories. If I remember right, he says stuff like "The darkness swirls inside of me". Just thought that was also pretty cool.
I can 100% approve of that "Don't care what others rate a game". One of my favorite games is Etrian Mystery Dungeon... by all means, a pretty average Mystery dungeon game - if you like Etrian Odyssey, that is. But I'm in love with it, despite its many, many, MANY faults and even bugs.
“The franchise birthed a generation of furries” Nah, no way. It’s not like a simple game series like this with memorable characters and touching storylines could cause anything like that! I mean, I totally don’t have a crush on my partner Fennekin from Super Mystery Dungeon.
...you evolved her into Braixen and Delphox, didn't you. I'll admit, I'm not much better, mainly because I _may_ or may not have paired up my Riolu player character and his Vulpix partner in Explorers of Sky.
Yeah I don’t know what they’re talking about, giving the animals with human traits deeper storylines than the characters in the normal games wouldn’t change anyone, right
@@omegaentertainment01 to be honest, young me actually couldn’t make it past Yveltal and by the time I returned to it to make it further, the game cartridge broke. But I would’ve only evolved to Braixen, for some reason I don’t find as much appeal in Delphox- I mean uhhh nvm I got nothing to save myself.
There's one weird thing I always used to do in Rescue Team that I never hear anyone talk about. When an opposing Pokémon faints, its sprite turns semi-transparent for a small animation. When you press and hold the shoulder buttons at the exact right time, that Pokémon will not disappear (or come back to ask you to join your team), but instead return to its normal idle position, but semi-transparent, until you let go of the buttons. This does nothing useful except look cool, but when I was a kid, I was convinced that there must be a purpose for this function, so I tried to do it all the time, hoping for it to increase recruiting probability or something. This even worked for the mirage Deoxys of Meteor Cave which were semi-transparent by design and became slightly more transparent when pulling off this trick.
I always just thought Bidoof’s wish pulled the hero toward Treasure Town, since they and Grovyle were traveling together but still ended up in different locations. And has anyone ever wondered why the PMD world seems to be plagued by cataclysm? A planet busting meteor, a plot to destroy time, the Bittercold and Dark Matter (which might be related given that they have similar goals and powers).
As someone who's played pokemon mystery dungeon dozens of times, even using an action replay, been in the fandom for years, and is trans myself, I'm ashamed to never have heard the theory that wigglytuff is trans. I highly doubt its true, but its nice to think that a franchise I hold close to my heart has a character I can identify with (despite me being female to male instead of male to female). i hardly see people talk about mystery dungeon on youtube, let alone lore, and you seem chill. you deserve more subs man
3:29 - From what I know, the reviews for Mystery Dungeon are better in Japan, where they hover in something like 7.5-9 range iirc? 11:33 - It was found only in Explorers code (so it's probably in the WiiWare games as they used Sky engine) and the guide is correct. To be specific, from game's perspective male and gender unknown Pokemon dodge attacks slightly less often (about 3% less), but land critical hits more often (move's inherent critical ratio is multiplied by 1.5x before any other bonus is added). 15:05 - In Explorers they suck but in Rescue Team they're S-tier. One of the biggest nerf I've seen to a character. 18:50 - You can also do this with Bellsprout's wish of meeting Chansey; though unlike Spinda, Bellsprout is there to stay for the rest of the game. 33:40 - You eventually learn that the place where Deoxys is in Rescue Team used to be part of the meteor, as another point in favor of the theory. 40:30 - The worst thing about Memento is that, at least in older games, Memento is part of what I like to call the SCAM group. Those four moves (Screech, Charm, Aurora Beam and Memento) work differently from other stat changing moves, in that they hit the stat DIRECTLY. For example, Memento doesn't lower the Attack by 2 stages like Feather Dance does or like it should in the main series; it just straight up slaps a 0.25x to the stats. This is why getting by Screech hurts so much, because 42:20 - To be fair they don't have to be necessarily stolen, maybe rescued from the Mystery Dungeons? One thing I am surprised is not on the iceberg is Drifloon line being gods; as they're regarded as one of the (if not THE) best choices for Explorers Lv. 1 dungeons. Also naming the parts just 1/2/3F is kinda weird; it should be bigger numbers like idk; B1F, B15F, B35F, B70F and B99F. Or naming them after increasingly more challenging dungeons; like Beach Cave, Temporal Tower, Dark Crater, Zero Isle and Destiny Tower
31:10 It probably is a translation error, I played the Chinese fan translation that is mostly a direct translation of the Japanese original, and in this dialogue it just says that most pokemons agreed that they would prefer to change the past and prevent this dark future from happening.
The wind in the dungeon used to creep me out a lot. It’s just so ominous and dreadful. My friend had a theory that it’s lugia, but it lacks a lot of evidence.
This video has made me quite anxious that I’ve had to stop it different times. But I can’t stop watching it till the end cause your theories are just so interesting
Shedinja is the strongest pokemon in PMD sky. It gets a room wide attack, a straight line attack, plenty of good options at close range, and with three species items, it can only be damaged by two types of attack. It can also walk into walls to escape bad situations, and can cut corners in dungeons (which is the equivalent to a free turn, basically). tl;dr 15/17 immunities, a room wide attack that can +1 your stats, and ghost perks Feed it enough vitamins and Shedinja is completely unstoppable
Was looking at this all and you're right, Shedinja seems very powerful when maxed, my concerns were traps and weather effects, but with trap seer and a weather band, well, yeah. I guess I stand corrected on Smeargle being the potential strongest, Shedinja is insane.
I also think basic attacks only deal 1 damage on Shedinja, since the game has that rule set in place so Shedinja doesn’t instadie in one basic attack (since it only has 5 hp by default). You would have to feed him nearly 2000 vitamins (a process I’m undertaking now) to have him completely maxed out - that’s a lot of wondermail codes. Run Mind Reader linked with Silver Wind, Bug Buzz, and Shadow Ball. You have a 100% accurate room-wide move with a chance to buff all your stats, Bug Buzz is the most powerful single-target bug move in the game, and shadow ball is for hitting enemies at range. You’re lacking a little bit in terms of PP, but since you’re nearly untouchable use your basic attacks to conserve PP, and bring lots of elixers. You don’t even really need to use silver wind on a monster house unless you’re at a type disadvantage.
@@SpaceySoundy It’s also worth noting that Shaymin-S can get a permanent +3 speed boost with a x2 attack speed bonus if I’m not mistaken, allowing it to outrun any threats and attack 6x per turn. Only works in clear weather, however. You’ll still get killed by line moves like Ice Beam some times when you don’t expect it however. Lots of fun interactions like that in the game. I’m always trying to find more (:
@@moonmoon4537 Shaymin-S is GREAT for soloing dungeons in Sky, yeah. It has PERMANENT double speed, so... Any clear weather dungeon can be demolished with ease, since you get 2 turns for any other Pokemon's 1.
well there's also a part in the ORAS postgame where you find Looker washed up likely a faller from an ultra wormhole, tho it's believed that every individual pokemon cartitridge is a parallel Universe (thus confirming parallel Universes with varying alterations like like mega and non) presumably Looker's Mysery Dungeon doppelganger got transported to the mainline universe and vice versa with amnesia similar how pokemon have different forms depending on the title like Primal Dialga, Mega Evolution or other changes like the Fairy Typing
Cheating on the personality quiz is totally acceptable. The game is WAY more fun and immersive when you get to play as the pokemon you want to play as!
Me casually using Sky Temple to make it so I can play as Vulpix Hero as a Guy and Shinx as my partner on my second play through. I already beat the game main story + post game untill I evolved with Riolu Hero + Vulpix Partner on my first playthrough
About the hypothetical Zubat and Koffing's death there is a "micro-event" in Explorers of Sky that explain it. In one forest dungeon (I don't remember the name) where appear Skuntanks there's a tiny chance of find Team Skull's one, then the whole map goes dark and Skuntank says that Zubat and Koffing abandoned him. Said that it starts fight agains you for vengance. I don't know if someone had mentioned it already but I wanted to do it. Really good video bro 👍
"When you steal an item in kecleon's shop every pokemon in the floor became a kecleon" So, basically the kecleons are like the agents in matrix, that would explain why they are so strong.
The protagonist being manipulated to stay in rescue team kind of makes sense. There's a weird voice telling you to return to your partner with a weirdly emotional tone.
The theory of bidoof's wish causing the worlds paralysis is probably false? In a sense, it's actually the exact opposite Cresselia clearly say's that Darkrai was the one that orchistrated the plan of worlds paralysis (and actually happens in the future in which the protag(as a human) and grovyle are partners). Cresselia states that the protags presence distorts the dimensions a bit, but no way that much so as to cause the world's end.. After you beat dialga, and stop the worlds paralysis, darkrai made a new plan in which he manipulated palkia instead of dialga, he disquised as cresselia and told you and palkia that you are the one causing the world's end, so as to actually beat your team, without revealing himself, since you stopped his previous plan. So, you could say that bidoof actually saved the world?
I've been a big PMD fan ever since playing BRT as a kid, but I've never consumed a lot of PMD content online except for listening to the ost's. The monster house part at 5:28 made me feel like I was in on some big inside joke, which I guess we as a fandom all kind of are? Idk, it's just nice to watch a video like this and understand most stuff, because I've never had friends who were into the series as much as I was, if at all. Thank you for making this video, it was a great watch. You've earned a subscriber :]
Grovyle and dusknoir relationship is so intense and meaningful. Dusknoir is a perfect example of the bad-guy-turned-good without becoming OOC or ridicolous, also his moves are meant perfectly to face grovyle's (there is a reddit post that explains it) and the double twist on the end, man it was so good and exciting. Too bad they aren't a popular ship, I bet if grovyle was a female there would be a tons (enemies that turn friends or lovers is such a interesting topic, just see how many fan art exist about judy and nick from zootropolis). But I think the ship grovyle x dusknoir is already perfect, and I'm happy that you like it too!
just wanna say ur content/theories were way more interesting than the iceberg itself. You should do that more! I'm a diehard fan, and ur points were the only ones i hadn't completely heard of
Something that triggers me on the force is this : Most of the pokémons become mad over time or are stuck in the dungeon, but can still send request to get help. And no matter how many time they are stuck in the dungeon, they stay on the same level until you save them. My lil' thory is that the force is something that wants you to become one of these thing: a mad or a prisoner. But, you only got ejected. Why ? Because you wear an explorer badge: it already helps you to save pokémons, and when you got KO, the badge is used on yourself and your partner. Same light and animation.
Wigglytuff being supposed to be the main character doesn't make sense, considering the bad future exists, meaning in the original timeline without the protagonist there was noone to save Temporal Tower.
27:34 not technically true, while Arceus isn’t in the game as a character, there is a statue of them in Destiny Tower in Explores of Sky at the end of the dungeon where the player character will comment about how this Pokémon must be the god of the world or something like that
I remember Wigglytuff. What a polite young man she was.
Рік тому+2
For the PSMD Wigglytuff thing: likely a translation error, as that is only present in the English version. Other translations still refer to him as male.
I could tell you guys, but I think it would be way more exciting if u guys rather play it or look for it yourselves... Though I'll give u guys a hint, it's on PSMD At the last half part of the game's main story ;) (If u guys give up or just simply dgaf, let me know so i spoil it for u)

I remember way back then I cried my eyes out when Nuzleaf betrayed the main character because I truly felt like he was in some way an adoptive parent to me because my real parents were never there for me. Man, these games truly have a special place in my heart, and I'm glad people still talk about them!
Aw man. Sorry to hear that.
I remember a theory saying that darkrai is the player and that everything is in a time loop of constantly repeating itself.
I just want more mystery dungeon videos tbh because I really love these games.
I heared of a Theory that the GuildMaster was Darkrai I don't remember the video, but yeye
@Jeanne Udall nice to see you too.
I've been very busy and just overall unhappy these past few days so seeing you again certainly helped brighten my mood.
It's a game theroy
I have seen the theory... And there's so much evidence towards it. You are darkrai. Second darkrai tries to kill you. Second darkrai becomes you in a new timeline while a third darkrai appears that is recruitable and then the loop continues. You think your human when your darkrai because the wormhole altered your memory
I saw that one, too. It's a great theory, and it the effects of the Time Travel doesn't mess with the Timeline, so it seems like it's meant to happen
More info for the “the meteor is from ORAS’ world”. During the delta episode the Mossdeep scientists talk about warping the meteor via “mega energy” and Zinnia described a prophesy from the Dragonians (her race) that said “the meteor will be teleported to another world where megas don’t exist” while that means the ORAS meteor is different there is more to the theory,
in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon they confirm there are multiple different versions of the world through Guzzlord’s ultra space. (This theory i’m mentioning here it based on another theory about X/Y) now theres a second theory that in another world AZ’s ultimate weapon succeeded and destroyed all humans (note: JUST HUMANS). The rest of the theory is that the mystery dungeon world is the world where AZ did destroy humanity (hence why there are manmade objects and pokemon know about humans)
So how does that correlate to the meteor? In ORAS one of deoxys’ dex entries state that he was created by a “giant laser being fired into space”, in XY when it shows when the ultimate weapon was fired it shoots up into space.
Basically the theory is AZ firing the ultimate weapon created deoxys and killed all the humans then deoxys tried to crashed a meteor into the world (canonically it did that because it was upset about the ultimate weapons blast). The rest is assuming the time between the “good” XY’s past and ORAS delta is the same as the “bad” version of XY’s past and PMD is the same.
I like the theory, but here's Deoxys' ORAS entry I believe you're referring to:
"The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on this Pokémon's chest appears to be its brain."
It only mentions a laser beam and doesn't describe anything about said laser, meaning for all we know Deoxys could've been created in a lab when scientists were studying a space virus.
The more likely candidate for the laser that awakened Deoxys in PMD is Rayquaza's hyper beam during the events of the rescue team games.
Ayyy same profile pic
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but:
There's this rare event in Explorers (idk if this can also happen in the other installments) where you simply just can't complete a mission because "The target is nowhere to be found" or something and the destination floor just becomes a single giant room.
The first time I experienced that I was SO CONFUSED, even slightly creeped out. Now I just found it kind of annoying, but it still intrigues me that Chunsoft planned for that possibility and I still don't know for what purpose lol
So many creepy things left out in this series
I remember this! It happens in rescue missions and is really creepy for a filthy casual such as myself
Read the comment by Darkphenix Channel above:
"the game tries to generate dungeon until it get one that working, and if after 10 times the dungeon is still not valid, it just generate a giant monster house on the all floor."
I actually saw that for the first time ever in the Concealed Ruins just three days ago.
Imo the funniest idea is Jirachi goes, “Oh? You want a friend to join the guild? Sure I’ll join!”
I fucking love this theory... this GAME THEORY.
Sorry, not sorry.
But that would mean they would never figure out about the World's paralysis.
Another theory is the whole Wigglytuff theory in that he was the one to find the fragment, as he knew Lapras as a good friend by the time we meet her
I'm honestly surprised Mix Elixir didn't make it onto the list, the fact it only restores PP for Linoone is so wacky and random, as a kid with not much internet access it was such a puzzling thing

A few things I wanted to mention:
Something I think should be on the iceberg is: in Explorers there is a special conversation you can see if you go back to Lapras after Grovyle returns to the future.
I’m pretty certain that’s a plot line in gates to infinity (at least it’s an event)
I got that convo with Lapras you mentioned. Just hit harder man.
God the unknown force was so cool as a kid! I always wondered if it was like your character losing themselves and becoming violent like the rest of the pokemon in the dungeons.
Oh wow never thought of that! So many creepy things around this mechanic
That's terrifying omg
But what about the rescue missions where you save pokemon? Or the times in the games where other teams for lost in them? It doesn't make sense.
The winds are called the Winds of Kron, the god of travel and wanderers. We are meant to keep moving through the dungeon!
Some more interesting things I wanted to point out:
- there’s an item called the Coronet Rock in explorers that mentions Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh. I think it’s used to evolve magnetron and Probopass
- At the very end of the game Team Raider appears on the beach after saving Dugtrio from the water. I remember reading a bunch of crazy rumors about how if you got the guild master rank wigglytuff would run to the beach to see Team Raider and some kind of cutscene would play
-Apparently Croagunk already passed his graduation exam and can leave whenever he wants, but he stays at the guild because his cauldron can’t be moved
-Frozen Island in episode 5 is actually Blizzard Island in the future
I got the guild Master rank and nothing happened
@@AlexandroGarcia6492 hence the 'crazy rumour' part.

We know that. Grovyle say that in episode 5
The Reviser Seed actually revives them, but they notice it wasn't an actual Reviver Seed and faint laughing.
The fake items become extremely common the farther in the game you are.

I always believed this myself, and sad I didn't mention it in the video, I think it's a really cool theory!
what i like in super mystery dungeon is when you recruit pokemon the friend tree connects to all teams, connections and references. when you have Alakazam, Charizard and Tyranitar they are connected as team Act. hell if you recruit Wigglytuff and the guild members they're all connected in the tree
- Stairs in nature doesn't make sens, you can't have floor in a forest.
- Kangashkan statues are teleportating items
- When you are with Bidoof in expedition you end up sleeping at some point, it takes 5 seconds and the all squad is at the exact same place when they wake up. They lied, they didn't sleep.
- If you refuse an egg, they give you money
I also have a bunch of facts on the dungeon generation but it's more bugs than anything, I reverse engineered pretty much the all system now and it's nerdy stuff

I'm surprised the theory that the human in PSMD is the hero from GtI wasn't on the iceberg. For anyone who doesn't know the theory, here is how it goes:
-The Dark Matter from Super shares many similarities with the Bittercold from Gates: both are crystal-like structures formed from the negative emotions of pokemon, both have vulnerable red cores and durable outer shells, both cause objects around them to float, and both will destroy the world if left unchecked.
A side effect of this theory is that it implies that the partner from Gates was actually Mew in disguise, which can possibly be explained:
-Mew can use Transform.
Here are some highlights:
-Rampardos trying to ask out Cinccino, but being too nervous.
It's either that or Dark Matter is just a Bittercold rip-off😂
Also after you bring the human back (oof, spoilers) it turns out Dwebble lied about the crack and tries to blame his Crustle buddy, before promptly apologizing.
Since posting my original comment I have seen a variation of the theory that attempt to explain this:
The modified theory states that the Dark Matter was defeated by Mew and an unknown human thousands of years ago, likely before any of the games.
I heard that too, but instead of recruit rejects, it was the criminals!
Always thought that the winds were just the shift of the dungeons, because they're mysterious in which the room are always randomly generated. in which the dungeon kicks you out when it needs to change, Its weird, I might be wrong about it, but thats my thoughts of it
You’re not the only one to say it and I love this theory. Maybe because it finally explains one of my childhood fears? That wind as ominous af
I'm quite surprised the fact that Ampharos was planning to have you killed isn't on here.
Let me explain. (spoilers, duh.)
In SMD, after you join the Expedition Society, you, your partner, and Archen set out to the Air Continent. There, you witness Latios and Latias crashing in the mystical forest. You head over to investigate, only to find they've turned to stone.
Entei shows up to investigate it himself and wrongly assumes you're the one behind it. He warns you with what is essentially a death-threat and bails. (he says he would 'not be so merciful' next time.)
Just after this, there's a cutscene where Ampharos is stress eating or something after being told about the events.
He knew that once you would get up there, one in two things could possibly happen:
1: You are dead.
See I think a lot of fans stayed behind on the ds games. So most people don’t know about smd
He says the following after hearing it (minus responses in between):
“I see. Will you two please go?”
“If he’s headed for the village, I need people who know the lay of the land. And also… I hear you are worried about your loved ones in the village. However, it’s far too dangerous to send just the two of you.”
“We need to consider that Partner and Human may have to battle Krookodile. We need to find out as much as we can before it comes to that.”
This time he directly states that what they’re about to do is dangerous, and at this point, the two are well aware of what that danger is.
This is too dangerous for you.”
So yeah, it indeed seems Amp’s just good at launching half-baked plans and being easily persuaded (and/or suspiciously OK with getting the duo in trouble. Anything for a “please” and those answers). Though I’d say it’s the duo’s fault as well after Fire Island for rolling with it. Twice.
I guess we gotta give Amp a bit of a break, the lad’s got some issues upstairs. They show it in multiple ways; his unhinged stress-eating, his nonexistent sense of direction… as the leader of an exploration group… Maybe he should keep to his paperwork. >.>
Now you could wonder if this low-level insanity is perhaps to blame for Fire Island rather than true malicious intent, but he did take Buizel to the side at the entrance to explain the threat of Entei to ONLY HIM, so he was well aware at the time, and purposefully hid the info from the others. And he essentially planned the whole thing based on Entei's threat to the duo. So that one stays, no pleading insanity there. At least to me.
Oh well, I guess the eventual outcome of all these misadventures is good, so… I guess we should be thankful for his questionable leadership.
20:42 In Team Charm’s defense, they’re an Exploration Team, not a Rescue Team. Biiiig difference
What about the theory that you are darkrai. That at the end of the game when darkrai goes into the time portal and it gets shattered he turns into a human (you). Essentially trapping him in a sort of time loop(?)
Yes I saw that on UA-cam
well, here's one thing that could go against it, for starters; transmuation is wack in thies games, secondly, it would most likely fit Wigglytuff because he has some sort of power since he was a kid making him more unnatural than a regular igglypuff (highfully dought that dialga would remember the past events in which the human might know, but maybe) lastly, I would just say that the human was with Grovyle and had the gift in which was said to be an unknowned art from who know what(maybe arceus)
Imo that's disturbing.

@@asdq495 Heal Seeds do work. I got in the habit of bringing a few extra on escort missions where I might encounter mons with Perish Song.
About the Itemizer orb, my theory is that it doesn't literally turn you into an item, but rather just puts an item in your place. That's why you inexplicably end up outside the dungeon, not transformed. That could either mean putting you where the item was or just somewhere random nearby (I think the second)
The same could be said for Pokémon traps, basically teleporting random Pokémon from the dungeon to where the items were.
As for the items themselves (and money), I think it's brought in by Pokémon entering the dungeon and then losing them (discarding them, dropping them after fainting, etc) and they get randomly placed with everything else by whatever force the "wind" is
Once I tried the Sky randomizer and got my butt kicked repeatedly so bad because the first mission for Spoink's pearl had Espeons with Roar Of Time all over, and I learned if you die two or three times in that dungeon Chatot tells you Wigglytuff wants to talk to you, and he gives you a Reviver Seed and I think an Oran Berry while Chatot tells you not to screw up again lol
I asked around on reddit and no one else had seemed to know about it
Edit: oops you showed it at the end, but it was interesting to see the randomizer after mentioning it lol
Don't you see a statue of Arceus at the top of Destiny Tower in Sky?

About the "kecleon brothers raid dungeons to supply their shop" , there is a bit of dialogue in the red and blue rescue games where the purple kecleon says something about the younger (green) brother disappearing sometimes to sell items in dungeons.
Something like "sometimes kecleon from the kecleon shop goes missing. Where could he be? 'I know that greedy character is probably doing business somewhere' 'My brother would never be taking items from dungeons and selling them to helpless explorers'" It went something like that.
The reason rescue teams are grey is because of older genre conventions, as you see they're are all really D&D partys.

Rom hack, I think it's called Cognitive Dissonance.
It's speculation more than anything, perhaps, but I'd like to think it's at least got a reasonable foundation :p Be gay, do crimes; be gay, mess with times.
let's go crazy with the theorization:
if the meteor in Rescue Team is a meteor from a Delta Story timeline where Zinnea failed, then what if the human turned Pokemon is Zinnea being given a second chance to save everything
I like the theory that the PMD world is a timeline in which Team Plasma succeeded in making a world with no humans and freed Pokemon.
Except we all know that Team Plasma never intended to help Pokemon. They just wanted to be the only one that could own them so they could rule the world unopposed.
@@wintersong2266 Yea, part of the reason I don't really believe the theory, just find it a fun one to think about.

Fellow pmd fan here! I've had a theory about the gardevoir thing
(spoilers for Gates)
So later on the game, you find out that the lights over the valley are actually other humans turned into pokemon who where defeated by kyurem, and turned into light to return to the human world.
I'm suprised the Glitch Statue Kangaskhan isnt on here. Its really creepy.
Creepy .

@@mrsuperheatran2794 I looked it up.
Gardevoir in Rescue Team is a part of the Psijic Order, how's that for the iceberg?
Well, then wigglytuff might not be trans. He is just vivec
It's honestly super fun hearing someone talk about their favourite series, especially if it's one that you share (if my pfp wasnt any indication lol)
I find it a little funny that being a pmd fan myself, i found myself playing games that the same pmd developers worked on (one being aitsf) It's completely different from the pokemon ip but... the wild writing and the music feels weirdly reminiscent but almost if not just as impactful imo. i don't think I can stop loving the pmd series and I'm sure it'll keep changing peoples lives as time goes on
The Kecleons raiding dungeons for items is part of the original PMD. There you got a newspaper every day per post. One entry states that there is a rumor that the Kecleon Brothers get their Items from dungeons making them apparently of lower quality
omg this is so good i sow this iceberg on reddet a while ago im so glad someone made a video about this :)
It’s actually stated in the remake that the power plant friend area was “created by humans long ago” (it might’ve also been in the original game too) so that holds weight to that theory.
Yeah it’s good that the newer games let you pick the starter after the personality quiz
It should give you the option to pick your pokemon or do a quiz .Because I really liked the quizzes
@@ThrobbingRobby420 I mean you CAN do them in super and rescue team dx
reminder that Grovyle in that animated version of PMD is voiced by Dan Green, who is better known as the english VA of Yugi/Yami from Yugioh
“The franchise birthed a generation of furries”
Nah, no way. It’s not like a simple game series like this with memorable characters and touching storylines could cause anything like that! I mean, I totally don’t have a crush on my partner Fennekin from Super Mystery Dungeon.
*hi-pitched screaming in the background*
...you evolved her into Braixen and Delphox, didn't you.
@@waddlepikmin227 Lmao, completely understandable, yeah.
I would say bidoofs wish makes the partner go to the guilde, and we are really just there as an accidant from darkrais attack
Don’t forget Weavile. There was also a Weavile statue too!

“Lemme look up what that means....yeah no I don’t get it” most relatable part of this video
This is why getting by Screech hurts so much, because
42:20 - To be fair they don't have to be necessarily stolen, maybe rescued from the Mystery Dungeons?
Here's some stuff IQ group J, protagonist from explorers is darkrai, primal dialga is actually dark dialga and the rescue team pc demo
Woah, this stuff is really cool!
Thanks for the point-out.
I never knew about rescue team gold, that's interesting.
"Wigglytuff has committed multiple felonies"
Welp, I've found it. My new favorite sentence
It can also walk into walls to escape bad situations, and can cut corners in dungeons (which is the equivalent to a free turn, basically).
tl;dr 15/17 immunities, a room wide attack that can +1 your stats, and ghost perks
Feed it enough vitamins and Shedinja is completely unstoppable
My dude your vibes are impeccable, listening to your love for the games was really nice and i liked how chill u sound. Thanks for such a great video!
Yo wtf this is insane ? Do you know witch dungeon is ?
"When you steal an item in kecleon's shop every pokemon in the floor became a kecleon" So, basically the kecleons are like the agents in matrix, that would explain why they are so strong.
The protagonist being manipulated to stay in rescue team kind of makes sense. There's a weird voice telling you to return to your partner with a weirdly emotional tone.
The theory of bidoof's wish causing the worlds paralysis is probably false? In a sense, it's actually the exact opposite
Cresselia clearly say's that Darkrai was the one that orchistrated the plan of worlds paralysis (and actually happens in the future in which the protag(as a human) and grovyle are partners).
Ngl im happy to see some people still making stuff about this series. Was a cool watch :]
I've been a big PMD fan ever since playing BRT as a kid, but I've never consumed a lot of PMD content online except for listening to the ost's. The monster house part at 5:28 made me feel like I was in on some big inside joke, which I guess we as a fandom all kind of are? Pokémon Legends Arceus is a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game.
Aww, having the iceberg in floors is really clever! XD Thanks for the video, I love PMD and its lore and such! ^^

The Bidoof’s wish thing blew my mind
Something that triggers me on the force is this :
Most of the pokémons become mad over time or are stuck in the dungeon, but can still send request to get help.
It is a crime that their is not an actual anime of mystery dungeon
I would commit multiple felonies to make an anime of mystery dungeon happen
Great vid, man. Ya grew on me real fast and I really appreciate that you were laughing while talking about some of the sillier parts of PMD
Watching this made me remember how much I've cried in explorers
What a masterpiece
Wigglytuff being supposed to be the main character doesn't make sense, considering the bad future exists, meaning in the original timeline without the protagonist there was noone to save Temporal Tower.
This is so well-made for a video with 238 views, what in the hell? :,)
5:57 Just spurn orb. Teleports all enemies out of the room. Divide and conquer
27:34 not technically true, while Arceus isn’t in the game as a character, there is a statue of them in Destiny Tower in Explores of Sky at the end of the dungeon where the player character will comment about how this Pokémon must be the god of the world or something like that
To be fair Grovyle and Celebi (and even Dusknoir by the end) fully expected to die to it still has the same effect.
I remember Wigglytuff. What a polite young man she was.
For the PSMD Wigglytuff thing: likely a translation error, as that is only present in the English version. Other translations still refer to him as male.
