This is for sure in the top 3 guitar channels in UA-cam. I've been playing for over 10 years, and I've seen tons of videos about pentatonic scales. I tell you this is the best. No one can make things easier than this girl. Everytime I watch a video on this channel i learn something, even if I already know the subject.
You’ve become my favorite instructor on UA-cam. I am a beginner and I find some teachers to be rather hard to follow but you are good at simplifying things. Thank you for your help.
I really like your channel because you explain things in an easy to understand way for people like me who can play but are too advanced for the very basic just-picked-up-a-guitar videos and not advanced enough for the channels that jump right into a bunch of theory and shredding. Thanks!
Our jam group got asked to play at customer appreciation day at a local music store this Saturday. This is the first time I will play lead guitar in front of strangers. Big step for me, since I have only been playing guitar 4 years. We will be jamming over “While my guitar gently weeps”. We have been practicing this for weeks (I’m pretty much a beginner). Found this video when looking up surviving a first jam session. I’m a bit nervous, but I think the small amount of pressure of playing live (even though it’s 1 song in front of a friendly crowd), I think this will be good for me. I think that’s my long term goal (playing live), so I’m treating this as a first recital.
You are a lifesaver. I’m so glad I came across this video. I have been memorizing tabs for 3 decades and able to play songs that we’re supposed to practice but during improvisation I struggled a whole lot. Appreciate your videos so much. I’m a big fan. Cheers!
I think I’ve always made things harder for myself learning cause I didn’t vibe with the way I was being taught…her lessons are so easygoing I feel like I understand things simply cause there’s no pressure or stress ❤️
Thank you, Ayla. Much appreciated, a marvellous lesson for a person wanting to know how to jam and where they "need" to be to do that. Thank you, I like how you break it up so simply. God bless you 💛
Wow! I don't usually do comments on videos, but your teaching is so precise, clear and simple to understand, You're a heaven sent in music, Thank you! 🎶❤️🎼
I had learned this previously! But I didn’t understand about how you can scoot it up and down the neck for different keys!!! Wow! That unlocked something for me! Thanks Ayla!!! This even helped support my understand of what keys are in general!!!! Like, feel stupid that I didn’t know but a D major or minor key has root note of D, so I start there and can do my scale with index or pinky based on if it’s major or minor!
@@almightyminataur4000 Sure, I only played piano back then. And some musician(don't remember who) said that Jimi Hendrix played all of his solos using just a five-note pentatonic scale. I thought to myself back then, how is that even possible. Since learning on guitar, I found that was mostly true. Of course, all his bends, and vibratos stretch those five notes a bit.
I've been playing for too many years to disclose...I "understand" pentatonic scales...but this is the finest example of putting it to use in very simple terms. Of course there are other "shapes"...but for most of us "non lead" players...this gets the job done.
@@itsyeboijosh4488 Disagree, the thing about guitar is shapes let you visualise everything everywhere. Chords, scales, triads, arpegios, intervals, lines, chord tones... You have to know them until they become second nature
@@cyrnoz1803 i don't rely on shapes but I can solo over any key and play all over the neck without getting lost. If you rely on shapes, your playing will be limited, restricted only within the bounds of the shapes that you know. Music is not about shapes you visualize in your head, music is about sounds, vibrations, and how you manipulate them to summon emotions that you could not put into words.
@@itsyeboijosh4488 Agreed, it's about sounds and colours. I just link a colour to different shapes and can recall it when ever I want/feel like it all over the neck. Most of the greats do it this way, so no need to be so elitist :)
Excellent tips. In fact, playing alone and accompanied are very different things and, as an "apartment musician", I have always found it difficult to play with other people. I really appreciate your work. Thank you = )
