0:00 - Intro
Are you ready to take your guitar skills to the next level? You’ll feel more comfortable improvising on the guitar and create some pretty cool licks.
1:10 - Level 1
In this lesson, we'll be centering around a 12-bar blues in the key of A. The pentatonic scale is always a great place to begin because you’ll get the most mileage out of it!
4:34 - Level 2
building a vocabulary of licks you can find online or in songs you listen to and implement them into your playing. They inspire you to find your sound.
8:59 - Level 3
Trust your ear and try exploring notes outside of the scale. If they sound good to you, then they’re probably good!
13:15 - Level 4
By following along the 12-bar blues with arpeggios, you can know which notes to play along with the chord changes. This is your way of outlining all the chord tones in your playing.
16:09 - Level 5
Start linking in those “weird” sounding notes. They’re the ones that build tension in the song and add emotion (and sound a little jazzy!)
19:41 - Level 6
Out of all the levels, THIS is the most important step. Adding techniques like vibrato, sliding, and bends is the best way to add the most emotion to your playing.
About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first UA-cam video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

The fact that Ayla is not only talented, but extremely ARTICULATE as well, makes these lessons a cut above many of the others!
She definitely paid attention in language class.
I love her 🤷♂️☀️🎸☀️🎸☀️🎸

K your explintions on the theory, gives Mme some hope. Ii admit I'm a lazy guy. 73 retired nurse tired of helping others and just want some for myself! People like you make it Worth well getting up in the morning!
EVERYBODY loves her!!! Lol. She's the bomb.
She is the coolest teacher
No doubt. So calm.
Ayla: you are a wonderful guitar teacher. You explain things clearly, and you encourage rather than lecture. Your pacing in the things you present is perfect, and I loved the fact that you demonstrated almost everything you explained, clearly and slowly enough to follow. One of the better video guitar teachers I have found. Keep up the great work.
Love how she’s always smiling. Great lesson
'What is music?' 'What is a musician'? Now those are such important and profound questions and Miles Davis knew the answers. Thanks for quoting him.
This young lady is really good. She is a great Teacher kudos for her. ❤️🙏💯🎸🎸
I started "playing" the guitar on my own and without instruction decades ago. I got pretty good as a rhythm guitarist playing and/or finger picking chords, but soloing was always beyond my ability. Ayla, thank you for de-mystifying the neck, and turning all the lights on for me regarding playing solos. I never got it before, mainly because I never had anyone explain it as clearly as you do. I can't wait to really start playing, now. Thank you!!
I'm pretty sure no one "hated" what you said here Ayla. If you do a 180, you'll be heading in the right direction!
I'm sure most people will love what you do...and even if they already know what you are teaching, they might even come here to watch how YOU teach, because you do it so well!
Thanks for teaching us Ayla..please keep the lessons coming!...😇
If this gal ever decides to branch out from guitar instruction, she would make a great therapist. One of the calmest, most relaxed “Zen” personalities on the Net….
yes!!😎🤘
She probably has a stern leadership side too, notice she wears that ring on her index finger.

as a 52 yr old frustrated player, you make a lot of sense and a pleasure to follow along with, nice work..
Thanks Ayla, I love your videos. I've been playing guitar really badly for 50yrs, never bothering to learn the notes or scales. I stumbled across your videos and you've helped transform my knowledge and skill in an easy going fun way and more importantly re-established my love of playing guitar. Thanks again!
Great video, loved it, and the analogy at the end "Music is the space between the notes", you're awesome Ayla!
I could literally watch you for hours. I learn so much! Thank you for your videos!
Always a pleasure to learn from you Ayla!!! Love your personality and smile!!!
Great lesson, most people who become serious about guitar will learn to play songs with chord charts
or learning to read music, but very many guitar players struggle to melodic soloing. You could spend a
good portion of your lessons on this one topic and get great reviews, so bravo Miss and keep
your well taught and informative lessons coming
Awesome thank you Ayla... love that Texas Tea Strat !
i love the way you express yourself
thanx for your smile and enthusiasm while teaching us music,
Clear explanations from a great guitar player. The best vibe in YT.

I hadn't picked up a guitar in years. About five years ago, I saw your cover of Since I've Been Loving You. That inspired me to begin playing again and I've learned more and have had more fun playing thanks to people like you that share your knowledge on UA-cam. Many thanks!
You are an insainley talented teacher. Thank You!
Thanks Ayla, you are making these lessons easy to understand! I love the split screen!
You know Ayla, there's a bushel of guitar instruction online, and I think you're the only one doing "levels" like this in the same video. I think it's BRILLIANT! Nice work, and great luck on your new songs.
So well presented, and very eloquent! Thank you for all the ideas, and for keeping the complex things simple. Cheers!

Ayla I love your teaching and tips. I may never be able to play a whole song but my plunking around the fret board will be so much more fun when I'm playing for myself. Thank you.
Ayla is about the best proponent of guitar and teaching. The way she explains stuff is very cool and makes sense. I have already plagiarized her phrasing in some gigs lol.
A very informative and inspiring lesson. I love the concept that music is the space between the notes. Thank you. Gaetano

Thanks for these! Great lessons. The finesse and emotion was key for me. Im not a fast player even after 20+ years but I know I don't have to be fast. I try to convey feel while also try to complement and leave space for the band. Keep it up!

Really proud of you for just being you and being so comfortable being yourself
Love the " level " approach to teaching! The arpeggios helped me the most.
Thanks for your content. It's really helpful.
I don't know whether it's Ayla's cheerful and always smiling face I enjoy so much or her insightful comments about guitar and music - along with her terrific playing - but the end result for me is always pure satisfaction.
I am a shredder in need of soul. Thanks a lot !!! By the way... I am also a teacher, let me tell you, you are a great one!

The best lesson ive ever had!!
One of the best videos on soloing ever!
Great lesson as always
AYLA, Great job on every video of yours that I have watched! In lots of video's I have seen, the teacher seems more interested in showing off how Good they are and talk way above a beginners comprehension. Your lessons seem to be more about helping people understand the lesson and in a way that encourages one to try your suggestions out, instead of feeling intimidated by them. GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!
I’m so glad I found your channel,Ayla !! It’s very easy to follow you with the relaxed teaching methods you use. I subscribed and hit the Like/Thumbs up!! ☮️❤️☮️
Well done, you’re excellent in your tutorials. Love your articulate way of showing and explaining the basics for those just starting to learn the instrument and even for those who play at a higher level. One can never stop learning. Great job.
Man, the Internet has ruined me. When I read a comment that properly uses both your and you’re, it is almost jarring.
You are so young yet so talented and your tutorials are amazing. ❤️
Thank you. Great job.
Good to hear your playing more in this lesson. You sound great!
Great Great explanation. Pointing out All those subtle details that no one talks about in the simplest manner. Also very inspiring. And, you mentioned miles, that means a lot.

If I had to choose only one source to help me become a better guitar player, this one video would be it. Thank you Ayla. You are a great teacher, genuine, patient and kind. I very much enjoy listening to your groups music as well! Thank you!
