Who's missing this good music from the 80's? Damn didn't those of us had it way too good back in the day.
Yup, even the band's that sucked are head n shoulders over today's "artists," and I use that term lightly. I'm speaking "as a whole" here...there's certainly some talent and some good bands. But, most today can't write their own material, much less arrange, engineer, and produce anything. And, don't get me started on quality of instrumentation...there IS none...past the "three power chords," auto-tuned, incoherent mumbling, and "Cookie Monster" growling vocal styles. (There's definitely a place for the "growling" stuff...just not in everything like it is today) As I said, there's talent out there...it's just not being allowed to foster under the recording "industry formula" of noise that never goes past three minutes, "Simple-Simon" playing that's devoid of any type of instrument solo, and the auto-tune vocals that are as "dry" as the desert. It's all Andy Warhol "fifteen minutes of fame," and UA-cam "flavor of the week" junk. UA-cam certainly has it's plusses as far as access, but it's damn sure hurting music too by fostering this "flavor of the week" stuff, and it's also damn near killed touring. In the 70's, and 80's, I could hit a couple of live shows a week within driving distance. By bands and artists not being booed by 15-20,000 fans every other night, there's no reason for em to better themselves at their craft. They can do the old "smoke n mirrors" crap, aided by every electronic and video trick in the book and post it on any of the online music platforms. Bands would play for three hours straight. Name one of today's artists or bands that can duplicate that today...I'll wait...(disclaimer: not all are like that. As I said, there's talent out there. Thank God for those few too, because they're holding it all together) Why young people, kids, and other fans don't get pissed for being RIPPED OFF from their hard-earned money is beyond me. I guess it's gone on so long that they know no different...they should DEMAND more. I mean c'mon, music now is nothing but "diss" tracks, "Mumble Crap," Tele-Tubby, bubblegum Pop, and Cookie-Monster Metal. Look at the majority of what's played on the reaction channels...it ain't "new" stuff. Fans should be pissed. Apologies for the rant (not really), and thanks if anybody has actually made it this far. I just get pissed that the kids and younger fans are getting ripped off...
Lol lol very true lol
I use to hate The Cult in the 80s, didn't see what the big deal was. I got into them in the Early 90s once I got out of my metal phase, also when I started listening to The Smiths, haha.
@@gcord21 there's no "harm" in what you said...and you have every right to feel the way you do.
@Thunderous One I'm gonna be fifty-five in September, and if I can keep all the pictures away from my daughter of me wearing all the Miami Vice stuff, white jacket, pastel colored shirt, pleated pants, no socks, loafers, and a three day beard, I'm golden lol...oh, and I can't forget the mullet hairdo. Ridiculous...
Probably one of the most underappreciated bands of all time.
No I saw them live with Queensriche in 1994.
Yes I agree. For me they had their own great sound and were one of the best bands of I love, this was a Masterpiece! Ian great voice, the guitar player Duffy was badass and the whole band was tight and had a great sound! They still sound great today! Check them out if you can!
Totally.
A very underappreciated band. Try Firewoman next.
Fire Woman is my fav from them
Me too! Love Fire Woman!! My favorite as well. Those were great days for music
\
One of my favs is Brother Wolf and Sister Moon.
Surely Rain and Revolution should be next.
I couldn’t agree more
The Cult's music is freaking great!!! Ian Astburry's voice to me was always underappreciated in the rock world! This is a TRUE BANGER! Hope you enjoyed it!
The Cult did lots of great songs... Lil Devil, Fire Woman, Rain, Edie, Love Removal Machine,
Add Sweet Soul Sister to the list.
How can you not say "Spiritwalker"?
and NIRVANA
And Go West.
Oh yes!! Killer tracks!! “Sweet Soul Sister!” 💙✌🏻
Love the Cult - you will like Fire Woman
With "Love Removal Machine" a close second.
Also The song Rise
Electric Ocean from the 'Electric' album :)
100%
@@stooge81 here here Stooge. In fact I have to listen to it right now. lol
Love this song - would still feel compelled to get up on the dance floor 3 decades later.
I can't drive slow with this playing!!!
if Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger and Jack Sparrow had a baby.
u forgot jim morrison, its in the eyes
@@lorenzsabbaer7725 Just what i was gonna say
🤣🤣🤣
Ian Astbury is a great frontman! Still rocking and making new music in 2020!!!!
@@lorenzsabbaer7725 in fact he loves, Jim Morrison.
Just a great rocking band. Ian has such deep rich vocals. Passion and power describe this group best.
His voice is like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Jim Morrison.
The Cult had some great tunes: Fire Woman, Sweet Soul Sister, Love, Wild Flower, Painted on My Heart. They just good, catchy rock with a touch of darkness.
Painted on my heart is technically not A Cult song. Written by Diane Warren for Aerosmith to record for the Gone in 60 Seconds movie soundtrack but Aerosmith ultimately turned it down. There is an awful version of it on UA-cam that Aerosmith recorded. Nicolas Cage who is friends of The Cult got the powers that be at the movie studio to let The Cult record it for the movie soundtrack and they absolutely killed it!
One of the greatest bands of all time!
“I’m sure in her you’ll find a sanctuary..”
Ian Astbury is one of the greatest frontmen ever and Billy Duffy is the man on guitar!!!
Now listen to Sun King by the Cult.
and sweet soul sister and firewoman.. not a bad song on sonic.. Billy really let loose on that album.. what a guitarist
Loose cannon front man, lights out rockabilly guitarist, solid gold rythym section. It’s perfect in every way.
To me, the entire Electric album is a masterpiece.
Definitely! I miss the Cult dammit =/
Totally agree, Ian laid it down as good an anyone else. And his vocals were so unique. His mic dancing on this video alone was world class.
The Cult.. About time!!!
Fire woman and love removal machine
All good. And 'edie, ciao baby' is amazing.
Fell in love with Ian Astbury and The Cult. Thanks for this.
Oh wow She is playing one of my favs!!
I love this song! Every time I listen to it it gives me crazy energy! India reacts also Rain!!!
This Corrosion by Sisters of Mercy is a solid 80's track. You'll like it.
Dominion/Mother Russia too!
Bart Peters Temple of Love
Detonation Blvd.
I was Just about to go there with "Temple Of Love" myself w/Ofra Haza on backing vocals. Now their cover of "Give Me Shelter" Oh hell yeah.

One of my favorite bands of all time...THE CULT baby!!
Loved experiencing the magic of music with you.
The epic guitar head (melody) mixed with the dark emotional vocal styling of a heavy rocker.
Priceless
They were the band that combined hard rock with a jangly indie sound and sported an almost proto goth look. They played power chords and they could come up with great melodic hooks that sounded like something you might find on a Smiths song. It may not seem as groundbreaking now but back in the 80's that was a big thing. It was harder to cross genres like that.
jkoff76 they were both retro and ahead of their time
Proto goth? Goth was already an established scene in the UK when this came out, The Sisters of Mercy and the Cult ruled the roost, though neither considered themselves goth back then, it was a music press tag.
@@punkoid76 I didnt say they were originators of the look... just that they adopted a more basic, precursive form to it. There sound wasn't full on heavy metal either. But they adopted some Free type rock vamps that harkened back to the beginning of it. A cross pollination of styles that was vintage but unique. Along with a singer who seemed to be channeling Jim Morrison from time to time.
Absolutely right. I only know one of their songs, this is it and it still makes my hair stand on end when i hear it in the way it did when it first came out. Fantastic.
Saw them twice in concert🥰 Ian slung sweat from his luscious locks onto my face...what a memory ❤
Haven't heard any reactions to The Cult. They're most excellent. \m/\m/
So miss the 80's. Great music, hot women, cool cars, and all steel handguns.
Now in 2020 those objects from the 80's are either too difficult to pick up, push, or carry....getting older sucks....lol
@@sundevil3640 Yes it does.
@@sundevil3640 gettin old aint for pussies lol
@@johngraves1216 guns are though
@@High_Lord_Of_Terra wow you are incredibly dumb. have a nice life
My favorite 1980-s band!!!! So excited you are finally reacting to them! I hope you like them, I am posting this before watching your reaction!
I have been a huge fan of The Cult since their debut album back in 1981. Seen them live 7 times now. Great show. I highly recommend going to see them live
Yeah, India! Keep on Rockin'!
So many great memories!! Thanks!
One of my favorite songs from the 80s.
Thanks for playing this. Cult is a great band
Edie, Firewoman, Sweet Soul Sister, and Love Removal Machine are some of their best songs.
That's my fav Cult song- you go girl - great job again!!
This tune gets me going every time I listen to it... Which is often. My all time favorite.
Gotta love the goth stuff. - Try Sisters of Mercy next, something like Temple of Love or Dominium. The Cure are another great band in the same vibe
I dont always listen to The Cult, but when I do so do the neighbors .......#Loud and #Proud ...
Yesssssss thank you sister👍🙏
One of my favorite bands! Thanks, India!
More Cult please :)
One of favorite 80's tunes!
damn girl you're really listening to those lyrics love your channel
love both their styles. this style and then their transition into hard rock was phenomenal.
Oh we're going here now? Let's Go !
IMO, this is not a song with deep lyrics but I've always enjoyed the sound of it.
Our girl just spent 2 and a half minutes interpreting the story in the lyrics. Don't you think that says something about the strength of the lyrical content?
Neo-Psychedelic, post-goth that the Cult perfected and carried into the 90's.
@@1967sfoman
I maintain my opinion. AMAZING sounding but nothing overly complex or deep about the lyrics.
I hit our channel by accident. I'm glad you are reviewing a band like The Cult. I spent 35 years in radio. I have had the privilege to listen to and play music from just about every genre out there. I even had the chance to meet member of several bands and more. Keep up with what you are doing. Have fun with it. You are going a hell of a service. I have Subscribed.
Ah the Southern Death Cult, who became Death Cult then The Cult. I’ve still got some Southern Death Cult vinyl kicking around. I love the rawness of the sound
I have that album also, Fantastic stuff!!
@Kristina Winter I wish they had done more music during Southern Death Cult. Their sound was amazing during that period.
Dat Moya.. ua-cam.com/video/NYgk0UD-bhQ/v-deo.html
..don't keep me in suspense, did they end up as 'Cult' or 'The'?
Don1970 They were so raw. Brilliant stuff 👏
I love how you go in and inturperate the songs.....that's awesome! You're good at understanding the lyrics and what the singer is portraying in the song!
This is a cracking tune
#Congrats 🍾🎈 on your reaching now over 100K !! You definitely deserve it! I love “The Cult” #FireWoman is a good one by them that you may like!! 💙✌🏻
Great Band !! Love your Reaction !!
I have. Such throwback nostalgia! They also have a song called WILDFLOWER that I love so much. You should react to it. Thanks for all the throwbacks. Love the new intro.
Please do I love the rain by the Cult. Its such an iconic song.
The Cults' record label:
What kind of rock and roll do you play? The Cult: all of them !
Love The Cult and their alternative rock from the late 80s -- my college days -- great music to dance to.
I danced my ASS OFF when this came out. I still groove BIG TIME to that bass when I hear it.
I remember the first time I heard this song. I had to sit by the radio and wait for it get played again.
The Cult came out of the UK goth rock scene. Originally called Southern Death Cult they became top class rockers and still one of the best live bands ever. Try reacting to The Mission and Tower of Strength another great band.
Jonathan Parker Don’t miss out Death Cult. I still have some Southern Death Cult Vinyl
Astbury was the only link between Southern Death Cult and The Cult. The Mission are the Sisters of Mercy’s cast offs, but Adams was a great bass player in the Sisters and pivotal to their sound. The Mission were a bit “meh” but Tower of Strength is actually a great song.
The Cult are my all time favourite band ever thanks for your reaction try Horse Nation, Rain or Big Neon Glitter
Thanks for playing this. I forgot about it, but I really like it!
The music of my alt high school youth! 2 minutes in and your reaction so far is the same as mine back in the day! lol This holds its strength over the decades though. Great song and reaction♥
You are too darn cute. The Cult have been a fave of mine since the Love album. Thank you for this.
Shivers up and down my entire being when I hear this song every time since first hearing it in my mid 80’s college years!
Love the cult! Awesome band! The first 80s few albums where their best!🤟😎✌
The CULT .....F****** JAMS !!!
Iam Brazilian i love The Cult i saw 2001 they in Rio.
I Like the Eletric Album 1987 good hard rock.
I Love your Chanel honey
I've loved this track since first hearing it back in '84. They were awesome live too
Oh this song!!!!! Back in the day, I used to go to a great dance club in Houston, Tx!! And EVERY TIME they played this song. Everybody got up and no matter where you were in the club, you started dancing!!!! This is one of my most favorite songs EVER!!!
React to 'Fire Woman, Edie (Ciao Baby), Here Comes The Rain, Love Removal Machine, Sweet Soul Sister!!!'
I have loved the Cult since 1987:) Just love their energy and Ians voice.
The cult WOW memories they had a unique style, the drummer was a badass and the 2 guitar 🎸 player real underrated, and the front man energy make this band one of the most famous in that era, Man dude sound just like jim morrison💯🔥
That intro sends shivers up the spine, seen them live back in the day in my hometown
That footwork tho!!
The Cults sound is timeless! Great Stuff ! Sweet Soul Sister is a jam!
Brilliant track, I used to go to The Bat Cave, Kitkat Club,, Gossips and The Mud Club in London, it was the best time for music. Still listen to this track in my car driving along in the deepest darkest Suffolk countryside.
The heads that turn makes my back burn but the fire in your eyes keeps me alive wow ,he's saying no matter what people think of me your fire keeps me going what a fkin tune this is
"Sweet Soul Sister"
One of the best male vocalists and guitarists to come out of the UK during 80's. I highly recommend 'Love Removal Machine' - their first (UK) hit following a radical change of sound from 'alternative' to mainstream rock. Really glad you enjoyed that track - great reaction.
Go forward from this video to 1989 - loved the lead singer's (Ian's) hair!
PLEASE check out "Fire Woman" & "Sweet Soul Sister."
"Love Remover Machine "from 1987 rocks, too!
THE CULT!!!!!!! Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
Amazing tune gets you ready for the day, great reaction
I was a teenager in the 90s so yeah I'm a 90s kid. I've never really end of this song for the whole message of it it just has a good groove.
Silence, the occasional facial reaction, casual absorption of the music, then she cuts the sound, and immediately without introduction gives a concise accurate, intuitive, nay deep, dissection of the entire song. Perfect and a joy to listen to your reactions every time.
So easy to forget this song, but can't forget what an effing great song it is.
Remember dancing to this back in the 80’s.
Easily on of the most underrated bands of the 80/90', huge library of music.
Wow - I haven’t heard this song in years! Such a cool band - great vocals. I love their songs Edie and Fire Woman
I love this band, and always will.
A very interesting , incisive, and literate interpretation of this song .Better than most of the other reactions to this song that I've seen and heard here.
I really do dig your new intro, sincerely!
This song translates incredibly well to radio. They were still playing it on 106.7 KROQ here in So Cal into the early 90's. Used to love hearing it, one of the best from 1985. Nice video, too. I recommend "Alone Again Or" by The Damned from 1987.
The cult =ahead of the game
More amazing songs by The Cult are Rain, Fire Woman, Big Neon Glitter and Love Removal Machine.
I love The Cult! This is a great segway into them.
They were in a transition from "goth" to rock with the song you chose. Great review! 💫
Love the Cult!
I would recommend their 1984 songs Spiritwalker, Go West, A flower in the desert, all from the Dreamtime album.
It's one of those songs that's almost timeless.
When knac out of long beach was the only fm radio station that played them...yeah. makes my back burn.
Love this awesome tune!
I love your facial expressions during these videos!
Ok I subscribed because you gave the Cult a listen. I like you.
I like your changeup. And you have the Cult is awesome.
Such a great song.
Another great 80's New Wave Band, good tune as well
