Most underrated rock solo ever. Hell, Billy Duffy is *probably* the most underrated rock guitarist to boot, because so few of The Cult’s songs afforded him opportunities to show his aptitude for the blues scale, like in this track.
Back in the '80's, the Cult were the one band that headbangers in leather and goths in trench coats could both get behind. It's kind of surprising that they weren't a lot bigger than they were
I've been listening to this song since the mid 80s. Not sure what its about but it sounds great and it's a cool name for a song. Also, Billy Duffy is one of the most underrated guitarist in rock.
Now that's an interesting comment. The Cult gets lots of airplay on two Sirius XM channels, Hair Nation and First Wave so they were definitely a tough band to pigeon hole into a genre.
The first time I heard this song, back when it was brand new, it changed my conception of The Cult from being a sort of harder edged goth group to a straight up hard rock head banger type of group along the lines of AC/DC.
These guys were all over my jams when I was young. Loved seeing you jam to them. They did also have some tight ass britches. Yeah I was never sure what the song meant but I sort of thought she removed it haha loved the reaction. Wildflower is a good one too along with all the others you mentioned. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 💗✌
OK finally you have found my favorite band and my favorite song! I like their style, too! SUBSCRIBED! I absolutely love watching all these young people discovering my generations music. I think you're awesome, India. Keep rockin'!
The first time I ever heard them I thought the same thing. What Led Zeppelin would sound like if Jim Morrison had got the lead singing gig instead of Robert Plant.
Lead singer Ian Astbury did sing for the Doors during their live shows in 2002. They had to change the name to "The Doors of the 21st Century" for legal reasons.
"love removal machine", ... like Ian said, meant like, he has all this love inside, we all do......but it pours out only at certain times........ ,like the feeling riding his motorcycle, it was like a machine that let his love pour out.....a lover, a hot rod, a surfboard,,,whatever it is, is a "machine" or a "thing" to pull that Love out of us.....and on that night, he met a true "love removal machine"'........thats my opinion
Welcome to The Cult. There is no other. They were so much more than other 80's bands. Imagine this song in your headphones, loud, as you ski at night. Full blast.
