    Barry played 10 seasons which is not a short career. The only rushing record in his grasp wus the yards but emmitt smith wus always on his ankles and would have still gotten it n the end because he always had the drive and determination to have the record as he told everyone that when he retired he would be the all time rushing leader. To say it before his first NFL game then to actually do wut everyone said he couldn't that's on a whole other level

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 Місяць тому +1

      If Barry plays another 5 seasons, Emmitt is trying to hobble around as a 40 year old as a backup on a horrible team trying to catch him. Adrian Peterson ended his career trying to do just that. He kept trying to play to catch Emmitt and he just couldn’t do it.

    • @GridironUpdates
      @GridironUpdates  Місяць тому

      Both Barry and Emmitt had incredible careers, no doubt. Barry’s talent and elusiveness were unmatched, while Emmitt’s drive and determination to claim the all-time rushing record were legendary. It’s true that Emmitt set his sights on that record from the start and delivered, but Barry’s early retirement leaves us all wondering 'what if?' It’s an interesting debate-both have left a lasting legacy!

      @@gregrowe1168 first of all emmitt smith wus never a back up and he definitely isn't trash like Adrian Peterson, also Barry would be in decline you could already see that in 98. Even Barry Sanders could not sustain those numbers for more than ten years. Plus Barry wus pure trash come playoffs unlike emmitt who carried his team on his back and sacrificed everything to win super bowls while Barry wus on the sidelines pouting with his dad

    • @wd899
      @wd899 Місяць тому

      @@GridironUpdates playing 10 years at running back is not a short career especially when back then the average life of a NFL running back wus 3 years. But heck yeah I enjoyed watching both play we were definitely spoiled n the 90s. But it comes down to Barry Sanders wus a human highlight reel at best and nothing more. Emmitt smith delivered on everything he sat out to accomplish including super bowls and he always put his team first before any personal records. Sorry guys I guess poor old Barry finished his career a few highlights short of Emmitt. Also emmitt smith wusnt that far behind Barry in rushing yards the only reason that he wus ahead wus because it took him a 2000 yard season and a 1400 yard head start on emmitt. But emmitt smith wus always going to end up with the record when he wus done regardless wut Barry did or didn't do

    Wrong. Stopped watching after the first 2. Barry Sanders was a highlight machine, not the greatest RB. He holds the career record for getting stuffed and faded in the playoffs and in tough conditions. Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton were both more consistent in moving the chains and keeping their offenses on the field. They, Jim Brown, and maybe some others have better arguments for GOAT. Even Tom Brady isn't a lock at QB, contrary to your claim. He enjoyed unreal longevity due to advanced medical care and rules protecting QBs more than ever before, along, of course, with the era's massive passing stat inflation. I'm not sure Brady would have lasted long let alone thrived in earlier eras. The GOAT should be able to transcend eras. Do you really think Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, or Roger Staubach wouldn't be lighting up the stat board and playing many more years if they got to play in this era?

    • @GridironUpdates
      @GridironUpdates  Місяць тому

      Appreciate the insight! Barry’s highlight reel is unmatched, but I get your point about consistency and playoff performance. As for Brady, the era argument is valid, but his dominance in clutch moments across two decades sets him apart. The GOAT debate is always tough because each era has its own challenges. NFL 2010s All-Decade Team: Named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-Decade Team of the 2010s so basically he's argued to be the best defensive player of alltime with his stats that blow away any defensive linemen besides a few that still were short compared to what aaron donald did tom brady himself said it he hated playing against Aaron donald and so do most qbs most of them say they are scared of aaron donald so to be fair I would say he is atleast 1st and if not a nail biter second

    Emmitt was the best, and will always be the King. People say things like Emmitt had the best offensive line, and wah, wah. But why don't people doubt that Jerry Rice was the best WR since had 2 Hall of Fame QBs Montana, and Young, throwing him passes for 15 seasons. Aside from all that, Barry Sanders was a liability blocking on 3rd downs and more often than not he was yanked for short yardage and goal line situations, due to his inability to run inside for the tough yards. I'd take Walter Payton over Sanders any day. Its not who was the prettiest, or funnest to watch, but who was the best... Emmitt carried the rock, got the yards, holds the all time rushing record, and took home 3 Super bowls. But you can give Barry this cheap little internet best RB award, that really stacks up well against what Emmitt has done. LOL!

      Emmitt Smith’s accomplishments are undeniable-3 Super Bowls, the all-time rushing record, and his ability to deliver in big moments. Both players benefited from great teams, but their individual greatness is unquestionable. Barry and Emmitt had different styles, but Emmitt's consistency and longevity set him apart.
