Hi Ella, I became passionate about soapmaking about 8 months ago and I’ve been watching your videos ever since… I just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge and recipes. Your videos are so inspiring. Your calm and friendly nature is also therapeutic for those of us just getting started. Thank you so much! Your are such a blessing 🙏🏼❤️
Ellys, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge for free! You are amazing! ❤🤩 I’d like to share my experience making this recipe today. I started by just mixing with a whisk, but I found the texture too thin, so I decided to use a mixer, fearing I hadn’t mixed it enough and might ruin the recipe. The mixture thickens very quickly due to the soywax, and for those planning to make it for sale, be careful, as it’s hard to pour it neatly into the moulds. I’ll be back soon to say whether my recipe worked and share my opinion. 😊
Greetings from Maryland (USA). I don't know that I would ever make my own soap but found you to be quite delightful, easy to watch and interesting. At age 58, I'm new to the wet shaving/safety razor world and still trying to figure out the pucks, loading a brush and the best razor blades. The only thing I can say for sure is that it gets a little easier each day.
I am not interested in doing a lot of soapmaking but I am struggling to find decent reasonably priced shaving soap so I will probably make this. Thank you for posting this video. Your explanation was very clear. Exactly what I was looking for.
Hi Elly, I have just made your shaving soap and it was so easy thank you very much. It was a first for me using soy wax and bentonite clay. I was going to use the stick blender as it was taking a few minutes to come to trace but just as well I didn't, wow just got there in time. I think it was because I used ice for my water. Thoughly enjoyed making it. Once again thank you very much.
I actually have stearic that is derived from beef. I am doing too okay around and see what I can come up with as I don't like soy. Takes all kinds 😊 Thank you for the inspiration!
I have been looking for a good shaving soap recipe! Thank you so much for sharing. I just made your honey oat cp soap last week and I can't wait to try it 💗
Oh, your Carrot FHP recipe and tips, I actually made that soap 2 years ago, huge bars too, thank you, I absolutely adore that Soap, it's 2 1/2 years cure & is Divine.

Hi Elly! Seen your video after soo long… I wanted to make shaving soap and got the perfect recipe…. Firstly I thought how to make soap with soy wax? Secondly when it done I was rubbing it on my hand and it’s not lathering at all 🤭 I thought all my hard work gone waste.. But! After that I use my husband’s shaving brush and after rubbing it sometimes it’s started lathering… and after that I was like …. ‘YES! Hi Ella, I tried this recipe. Unfortunately,I didn’t have Bentonite clay, I used Kaolin clay. It came really nice. Thank you so much. With love, Ashika.
I razor blade shave every day or rarely every other day. Thanks Michael. Great point you make. Personally, for shaving my legs I love a simple castile soap (the most gentle), but this soap is very gentle too and all the men I know who use it (at least 4 individuals over a number of years) say it's great to use and glides well.

Thank you, Elly, for your organized thoughtful teaching. It is lovely to hear an Aussie too. I have been wanting to make soap for at least 40 years and your video gave me the confidence. I made this yesterday and didn't have a spritzer bottle to spray and as a result I got soda ash. I can see it has soda ash on top and it is speckled down the debth of it ...about 1 cm. Is that ok to use? Does it just reduce the quality somehow?

Hello, love this recipe, cant wait to try it. 2 questions. Are you concerned about mold and 2- What about any other clays, rhassoul, gray etc.? Oh forgot, is the processing time the same for soap? 2-4 weeks before use. Thanks again.
Hi Elly, thanks for your amazing videos. I just made this and about a week later it seems a bit lye heavy still when I test the pH. Can I recook this as a hot batch soap? I am not sure what I did wrong, as I very precisely followed your excellent instructions, but it did seem to take a long time to trace then went thick quickly - perhaps the essential oils? It did transform like normal soaps then just took ages .. I am concerned that it solidified simply because it got cool enough to because of the soy wax...
I can't wait to try this recipe!!! Thanks for sharing!!! The shaving soap I once made just kind of fell flat, really disappointed. How much menthol and pineapple fragrance oil would you recommend for a batch? Or, would you not even recommend those?
Hi Elly, Which coconut oil did you use? Was it the solid melted or the liquid? Would it matter which type you used?Sorry for the silly questions, thank you for your video, cant wait to try this

Hi Elly you are such a great teacher and make soap making easy fun and exciting, I love watching your videos. I definitely want to try and make this shaving soap. Just wondering what you would use in sopacalc as a substitution for soy wax as it is not listed.
Hi Elly, could you please share the details for your scales (big and small). I have some scales but after using them for a year I feel they aren't the best and I always struggle measuring my EO. This recipe looks so good too! I've made shaving soap before but not with soy wax, so excited to try this one. Thanks, Sam.

Hi, I’m very interested to try this recipe. I have everything except the soy wax. I’m unable to source gw 402 or 415 grade soy wax n was wondering if it can substitute with beeswax. Thank you.
Hello Elly! I love following all of your videos and found this just as I was deciding that I needed to make a shave soap! A couple of questions though... Hello ma'am, Thank you so much for the wonderful video ❤️❤️. Can I use soy wax in my regular cp soaps? If yes, what's the maximum percentage that you recommend?
Thank you. Yes you can, but I would keep it to around 10-20% - really depends on what you're aiming for! This video would help a lot I think ua-cam.com/video/V-uDPifp3n0/v-deo.html
Hi Elly thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! Love your videos. Just a question if I don't have alcohol is witch hazel OK to spray on the top?
Awesome! I use the same moulds for my shave bars and combine lavender and TeaTree and use Shea Butter for the Stearic acid boost! Might trial adding Cedar. Do you use Cedarwood Atlas oil when you say ' Cedar'? And so good more people make this than getting the store bought stuff in plastics or the spray cans!
Hi Delizia, yes, absolutely!! Your bar sounds really nice too. I would like to try other recipes but still have my giant bucket of soy wax to use up haha :) The cedar EO I've got is Virginian.
Hi Elly, thank you for sharing this recipe. I made some for my husband and the foam is amazing! Would this be a good recipe for face soap too? (I'm hoping I can use it too.)
Thanks for the video. Apart from hard/soft water, what is the most prominent feature/ingredient/process to ensure a residual slickness? Many shaving soaps will leave you with a moist but 'sticky' skin, one can basically pass a razor over your skin once or twice, but once the lather is removed by the blade, that's it. Then there are others where I can do stroke after stroke (up to 10 strokes with a straight razor) and the slippery sensation simply remains. The soaps in the latter category also takes quite some time to rinse from your brush.
I think that commercially made shaving soaps have more residual slick to them, whereas this performs more like a normal soap and washes off quite readily. To be honest, I have not used this soap a lot myself - mainly made for friends and regular face shaving folk!
Elly, just wondering but why the wax change i use 464 soy so I have some on hand, so i don't want to have to buy more atm if I dont have too, thanks for sharing, I have a great shaving recipe, but never tried cp.. so I'm going to check it out, but I just was curious beforehand. Ty so much, oh also I usually will sub the water with gm or oat milk for sensitive skin, would that effect it in any way you think? Ty beautiful recipe, I love simplicity and Elegance this definitely fits that, I always give a shout out on my channel if inspired by another soap maker, Ive done that since the beginning, ive never copied a recipe, I usually kind of tweak it like u have & give credit where credit is due..okie Doki Toot aloo Se la ve.. ty for any response. as i realize this is an older video. Ive been a soap artisan and candle maker now for 4 yrs wow. i can't believe it's been that long, okay ramblings. thanks doll. oh, what kind of book you writing, Im writing a book as well, it's more about my multicultural background, spiritual kind of book. I thought I'd pass along what i know about foraging & as a Native Cherokee, First Nation Mix. lol theres lots of remedies, all natural ones from Nature that are better than anything that comes over the counter🙃😉, only my opinion. Thanks again I'll be sure to pass along who inspired this lovely recipe along with my own. 😉😊

Hi Elly I made this shaving soap yesterday and it came Our crumbly like feta cheese. My group is telling me too much Lye - what do you think . I can post pic here but the round ones seem ok and are curing but the rectangular ones broke in half
Hi Joanne, sorry for the extremely late reply. Any chance you didn't wrap and gel it? This soap can become crumbly if it's exposed to air too early. Needs a good warm wrap up for the first couple of days I think.
Hi Elly, I'm new to your vids also new sub. Thank you so much for this particular recipe, been trying to find a nice soap to make for my husband and I loved the simplicity of this. I'm in the states and will have to check on the soy wax. I'll be going through more of your vids, so we'll see ya soon, Cheers!!
Hi Elly, I'm looking to alter this recipe for different sized molds - my husband wants a large amount in a glass bowl instead of the smaller round bars. How would I go about changing the ingredient amounts based on this recipe?
Hi Elly, I’m in Uk and the updated wax that you use is hard to find unless you pay extortionate shipping fees. Is there another wax I can use??? I love your videos by the way, very informative and easy to understand. Such a soothing voice, I could listen to you all day xx
Hi Elly, do you think you could you use Australian tea tree EO instead of the rosemary eo? I have 100ml of tea tree eo and only small amount of rosemary.

Hi Elly, thank you for sharing this recipe. I made some for my husband and the foam is amazing! Would this be a good recipe for face soap too? (I'm hoping I can use it too.)
You can, but I prefer a simple castile (all olive oil soap) for face washing. Check out my playlists, there are a lot of simple recipes there :)
Looks luxurious Elly, Thanks so much for sharing. Is it possible to switch the soy wax & replace with bees wax?? I have a heap of bees wax to use up….
Hi Charmain, no unfortunately you couldn't do that swap - beeswax is entirely different to hydrogenated soy oil/wax.
Thank you 😊 looks beautiful!
Thanks Monica!

Thank you that looked easy enough Thanks!
Wow this is so cool. Love it. 💛
Hi Elly good recipe thanks, can we use this recipe for bath soap also.
Hi, yes you could, but it's really a specialty soap made for shaving.
Hi Elly , what a beautiful soap! Which Cedarwood Oil do you use?
The one I have is Virginian Cedarwood, but I've heard Atlas Cedarwood is excellent too.
Thanks for sharing this recipe, I definitely miss you.😙😙can I use kaolin clay instead?
Thanks Tricia :) Yes, Kaolin clay would be nice.
Hi u are just amazing in everything u do
I made cold process olive oil soap 3 weeks ago but after I notice like white dust or powder covering the soap
What do you think this things coming from where thanks 🙏
Thank you, you're very kind! That sounds like soda ash to me - this page explains www.ellyseveryday.com/soap-making-terms
Thank you...look very good.
Hi Elly, good to see you .Your video is superb and very easy to make .can I use Stearic acid instead of soya wax since I don't have . thankyou from India Kolkata 😘
Hi Chandra, yes you can however you'd need to calculate a new recipe to use stearic acid.
Hi Elly
I made this shaving soap yesterday and it came
Our crumbly like feta cheese. My group is telling me too much Lye - what do you think . I can post pic here but the round ones seem ok and are curing but the rectangular ones broke in half
Sorry for spelling mistakes - came out crumbly and I can’t post a photo
Hi Joanne, sorry for the extremely late reply. Any chance you didn't wrap and gel it? This soap can become crumbly if it's exposed to air too early. Needs a good warm wrap up for the first couple of days I think.
Hi Elly, I'm new to your vids also new sub. Thank you so much for this particular recipe, been trying to find a nice soap to make for my husband and I loved the simplicity of this. I'm in the states and will have to check on the soy wax. I'll be going through more of your vids, so we'll see ya soon, Cheers!!
Hi Elly 👋 could you use beeswax instead of say wax? As a beekeeper beeswax is plentiful!
No unfortunately, it's completely different to soy wax :)
Welcome back ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Lola, great to be here!
Love it! ❤️
Hi Elly, I'm looking to alter this recipe for different sized molds - my husband wants a large amount in a glass bowl instead of the smaller round bars. How would I go about changing the ingredient amounts based on this recipe?
This video reveals all! :) ua-cam.com/video/ZguW6J3Jj2Q/v-deo.html
Hi Elly, I’m in Uk and the updated wax that you use is hard to find unless you pay extortionate shipping fees. Is there another wax I can use??? I love your videos by the way, very informative and easy to understand. Such a soothing voice, I could listen to you all day xx
I'm not sure Lisa, maybe see if you can find another wax without any additives? Thanks for your kind words :)
Hi Elly, do you think you could you use Australian tea tree EO instead of the rosemary eo? I have 100ml of tea tree eo and only small amount of rosemary.
Yes sure!
Thank you
Wow welcome back , awesome
Thank you Joya :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking ur welcome
Hi Elly, good seeing you. Good one 👍
Thanks!
I'm just starting. Buying a book and watching videos. Got people. Any certain essential oils you recommend?
Fantastic! Just use ones that are known not to irritate the skin. You can google best essential oils for soap making.
GREAT VIDEO MAM WELCOME BACK WAITING FOR MORE VIDEOS MAM
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking
Wondering if one could replace the soy wax with stearic acid if that’s all we have…
Oh just another question If I prefer to use tins then I pour straight into and cure for 4 weeks
Yes, that would work well.
This is great. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, thanks KC :)
