Going Home is a sad and moving religious funeral song adapted from Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 with a message about finding peace in the next life.
Tune History:
"Goin' Home"was actually written by one of Dvorak's pupils, William Arms Fisher (1861-1948), who adapted and arranged the Largo theme and added his own words, as indicated on the sheet music cover published by Oliver Ditson Company in Boston. It has been said that Dvorak's themes in his symphony were inspired by American folk melodies, especially Afro-American. But his themes are just as similar to Czech or Bohemian folk music and probably came from his own country's music tradition.

This song was played recently at my Dad's funeral at his request. Although still gut wrenching to hear, this is a beautifully played version of this tribute song. Dad, I'm glad you're at peace at home in heaven now with Mom. Love you always.💜💜

Brings a tear to my eye
My mom passed away 5 months ago and she loved the pipes. I’m currently learning to play them. I wish I could have played this for her when she died but someday I will when we have a celebration of life service for her. I miss her so much 😭

@@lindabridges7959 thank you. Things are a little better. I do have my days where I really miss my mom and I just break down in tears. What helps is that my family and I talk about the funny things she did or said. That brings a smile to my face. Plus she's been suffering for the last 8 years of her life. It hurts me to say it but I'm glad she's gone. She's not suffering anymore

3 years ago I lost my best friend Kamali the German Sheppard Dog. I found a speaker and had this song playing. Then mothers day 2021 I lost a grandmother.. her and I where fairly close. I haven't been able to stop crying. I miss her very much
