How can you sing this without shedding tears? How can anyone listen to this without thoughts of home, family, friends, eternity? Many of us did not have a perfect home life growing up, many of us have made messes of our lives and yet...and yet, the drawing, the yearning, the absolute yearning for a place called home. All I can say through my tears is a heartfelt and humble thank you.
Profoundly eloquent! I thought I had entered heaven when I heard Voices8 about a month ago as well. To watch Eric Whitacre direct his heavenly piece called Sing Gently opened the door for me. You and Eric's showing us your beauty have given me hope in a broken world, as COVID strikes again! Your voices carry me into the arms of the compassion of God! Be well.

Transcendent rendition of this classic. Bravissimo! Being a good ways into my eighth decade, I'm finding that it's easier to 'go home' for a while, by just resting as awareness.. Thank you Dearhearts of Voces8!
Danke!

Sometimes it seems surreal that such a choir as VOCES8 could be. I am always mesmerized by their voices, both in solos and in harmony. And this piece was simply breathtaking. Bravo, as always, VOCES8🎶.
I just heard Voces8 last night in concert near DC (11/5/23). I was afraid that in person they might not sound as good as they do in recorded sessions. But, I am happy to say that they are more impressive in live performance. Even though they must have been tired after their USA tour, as this was their last stop, they stayed around afterwards and were (seemingly) happy to sign autographs and chat a bit. What a talented and delightful group.
We were there too! It was wonderful, and without a large acoustical space to really enhance their sound, that was really impressive they still had such an impeccable blend, like an organ. The two trains rolling through town within minutes of each other thankfully didn’t ruin any of their pieces, whew! Added a comical element to the show, they pulled it off and kept their composure so well!
I’ve attended several concerts of them - btw as well with several trains just passing by right before the hall‘s windows. Always splendid! I do tend to think that one of their success mysteries lies in the following : They do what they absolutely love to do and further more are able to deliver in quite extraordinary quality… so giving concerts, connect to each other musically and connect to people appreciating their doings is just the thing they want to do. -> In the end, I do belief that for them making music and giving concerts just is not „going to work“, but being blessed to get high on endorphines and adrenaline every other night, getting in the flow and having the best of possible times. that‘s what the attending public will absolutely feel at any of their concerts
I've always loved this music from Dvorak's New World Symphony...who doesn't ? But this is the first time I've ever heard it vocalised as a choral piece. Simply amazing as always, VOCES8.
"Going Home" has burrowed itself into my heart since hearing it in the movie "Paradise Road ", starring Glen Close. My husband and I play it each night before closing our eyes for sleep. And then, I discovered VOCES 8... which we also play each night ...imagine my joy just now, hearing my very favorite group singing..."Going Home!" Thank you, VOCES 8!
Ich kannte diesen Satz bisher nur aus der 9. Sinfonie von Dvorak. So etwas Phantastisches habe ich noch nie in einer A-Capella Version gehört. Thank you for your solo Molly, and thank you Voces8 ! 🥰
I first learned this song as part of a handbell choir when I was in middle school. I've always loved it since then. This acapella arrangement is lovely and the performance - spectacular as is usual for you!
You Voce8 singers have the very best job in the entire world. Everything you sing touches the heart, bringing a warm glow of much needed peace. Hope you enjoy singing as much as we enjoy hearing you.
Our parish recently lost a 101 year old lady who ran every event for decades. I’ve been going to this parish for only 2 months and I’ve only spoken to her once. But her passing has affected me so much. Thank you for assuring me that she’s gone home and that she’s close by.
I've just arrived at my 8th decade and only recently come across Voices 8 . I thought Their Elgar edition of Nimrod could not be matched in excellence but I accept their Going home up holds their brilliance ! Thank you ,one of these is going to be heard at my passing.
Still haven't listened to the whole thing, keep repeating the beautiful "oh-oh-oh" the bari passes to the tenor 🙈, then that crisp bright chord. Can't wait for the rest. Excellent arrangements as always. 🤩
New World Symphony is my absolute favorite composition ever created. Who better to sing it - each one of your voices are examples of heavenly perfection.
I sang this piece many times over the years, at Requiem Masses chorally and solo. I think it was a lovely message from him this evening that this piece came up. Voces 8 as usual singing it incredibly well indeed. We'll done to them.
Having been lucky to make the experience myself, singing in several ensembles of different sizes, I can say, that what you can really feel when hearing such a brilliant octet is that „neural cloud“ in which they are (and have to be!) when performing! It’s a truly deep reaching, intimate experience, that makes clear, why music - and especially singing - has the power to heal!! With hugely respect and heartfelted regards from Wiesbaden/🇩🇪 Martin
