  • Time to LEVEL UP your predator 212 cc non-hemi engine from harbor freight with performance mods using budget parts and the right tools for the job!
    This video details some less expensive parts, why I chose those parts over alternatives, a few tips and tricks on a performance build for a 212cc non-hemi harbor freight engine, and the tools you would need to do a performance build go kart or mini bike riding engine kit.
    The engine used here is a predator 212 which is a 212cc performance engine. This engine build is one of the least expensive builds you can do with your harbor freight engine whether it's for your race kart or a mini bike. I'm using one of these in my race mini bike, one of these predator 212 performance engines will be used in my racing go kart, and one in my race wheelbarrow. This can be considered a stage 3 engine by many and has no part work done to it. You can pick up this harbor freight engine for pretty cheap and I've blown up a couple in testing so it's nice to grab a new one quickly and near me. This is a 6.5 predator engine and the 212cc to hp rank is 6.5hp out of box. When you upgrade your predator motors to a 212 stage 1 you are opening flow. When you add further 212cc predator engine mods with performance parts, you are opening up to a much more powerful engine!
    This performance engine build will go on a race kart for oval track dirt track once ready. With the performance carb, most signs I see call this stage 3 build. However, some people call it stage 2, and I even saw one person call this a stage 4 build of which there was only that 1. When you're ready to take your game above the stage 1 mini bike or off road kart engine kits then you can expect to spend at least close to $400 on parts to up your game.

    That tube extension is called a “snipe” around here. You can get fancy and add a length to the name. People here use electrical conduit. EMT 1/2” x 1’, 3/4” x 2’ and rigid 1” x 3’ are in most guy’s mechanics tool set.
    Be sure to de-burr the ends. Slipping off is not unheard of when those things come out. I add hockey stick tape to both ends. I sure you can buy it in a minimart where you are.

    Venting the engine can be done without a catch can. You just drill out some hole in your lower valve floor area.
    Then vent with a one way valve out of your valve cover.
    Venting the engine prolongs the life of the engine
    Remember to make them fast and make them last...

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  3 роки тому +1

      Most power bored and stroked with welded billet head running on alcohol can run $3000 and get you 30hp. Once you hit stage 4 you have a lot of options to take it past the 20 hp limit, however these crank cases usually blow up at 25hp and need a lot of reinforcement. If you're looking at stage 4, the crank case from a tillotson 212r is much more recommended once at this level. Most all power upgrades for that build are custom fabrication and metal manipulation.

    • @megoingfast
      @megoingfast  3 роки тому

      For a purchased kit build, Red Beards Garage UA-cam channel has a build video. You will likely need to further research high compression heads, balancing your crankshaft, boring and stroking the engine, and port work on top of that. It's a lot more work than just 1 video. 😉

    Hey man, I am doing a complete rebuild for the same exact engine and decided to do this build. I was making my list and at around 4:19 you said a part that I couldn't make out very well. It was right before the spark plug. If you get to this, could you let me know which part it is and possibly give me any advice on the overall performance and experience with this build? Thanks

      7/16" bolt, for tapping into the oil sensor hole. The engine has pretty good performance, and is a setup for some pretty decent power as is - that you can take even further to stage 4 level with balancing the crank, honing the cylinder, porting and polishing the head and a few other steps. The cs grind cam is a 265 lift cam similar to the popular cm grind and hot 265. If you do not shim 22lb springs, you can change to 26lb. This is a fast build that is inexpensive that kicks out power giving a great engine build experience. The catch can can does not have to be bolted to the engine, that just made it easier to contain for me. Many people prefer to buy a spacer for the valve cover and run the crank case vent into the spacer. Jet size will vary on a few things, you may want to run between 120-135, depending so having a kit helps.

      @@megoingfast Wow that really helps, thank you. I've noticed that some parts are out of stock in your links and the main part that I can't seem to find is the Mikuni carburetor specifically in 24mm and for a 212cc engine under $100. Would you have any alternative suggestions for a cheap build like this?

      Knocking off most of the texture of the surface, does not have to be 100% smooth. You are not taking off more than the texture. Not sure why they chose to texture the surface of the piston.
