fasteddie3333-bought this stage 4 kit followed instructions, my motor seems very tight, I am sure it's the valve lash. Been running it 4 month's ,Karting RWB-Winning a lot, very hard to start, once it is running no problem. I went back looked at your valve position and ,002 & .003.-curently running .005 both valves. i will reset them after reviewing. Thanks Guys-JIR Raceway-Maxville ,FL

I used to start with an empty bench and when I was done I had an empty bench not **** laying all over the place, and I would lay everything out nice and neat in the order it came out and it made it so much easier

Greg that was brilliant mate, the time you and becca must have spent on filming that , stop starting for angles to shoot the best shots from to the Voice over and explanation of everything then the Hours spent in Editing it to a finished video.
A Huge thankyou for all that work I think that you have a excellent tutorial for a lot of people to refer to ( IF you could even buy a Predator engine in Australia it would be handy Lol)
In watching that I thought of something you are lacking and might want to incorporate into your tools
How about building a Multi Mount Engine stand at the right height (AND weight to stand the vibrations) for you to work on it .
This would be, when you finish an engine, you can mount it to the stand for the run in period instead of waiting for a suitable frame or Kart to put it in
it would make it easier to fine tune the engine on the stand, adjust anything and also do the first oil change after the run in period etc
You then have a completely finished engine on the shelf or ready to be used immediately you have, what ever it is you are putting it in.
Saves the back in bending over, and standing on the engine, while you are trying it out just after the build !
Grin who mate maybe a saleable Item for other Engine builders out their ?
    Tony From Western Australia

      @donaldvaldes5680 5 років тому

      Gday Tony,
I Googled the Predictor eng. and u can get them in Australia
but the same eng. that costs around $200 costs around $700 here!!!
Might be cheaper to have one Shipped over.!?
Spent a couple of years in MUKINBUDDIN and SOUTHERN CROSS
In the 70s. (Frikin FLY'S!!!!!!!!!!) in my teens:)

I like that lamp in the background. You’ll shoot your eye out. My favorite Christmas movie. I just did a 212 non hemi build. I did your governor removal like this vid shows along with a flat top piston, aluminum flywheel, mod 2 cam, 22mm carb, 22pd springs and a header pipe. I’m not going to be pushing this engine really hard so I hope the rod will hold up. I have a billet rod and flywheel and a 265 cam 24mm carb I’m putting in another engine I just got from harbor freight along with other stuff I have to order. Your videos really help alot.

I used a dana 44 shortened rear end and driveshaft from a jeep wj . Cost was 100 bucks . Then had a driveshft guy fit one end to accept the honda yoke .

You will also need jets to tune the carburetor. I did a hemi using a mod 2 cam, 18 psi valve springs, header, billet flywheel and rod.The carb is a 22 round slide Mikuni, (the 24 flat slide is a better piece). Never removed the head, my Grand daughter ran 65 MPH in 1/8 mile in her Jr. Dragster with it.

Little tip, not sure if the head ports where actually polished, they didn’t look like it but you do not want polished ports on a carbureted engine that goes for cars as well, you need the ports to be a little rough so the fuel gets atomized, you can run into problems like fouling out plugs like crazy not making the desired power and it can even hydro lock the engine. I’m sure you wouldn’t notice it on an application like this but it is the fact.

Greg miss-spoke -Rod to crank clearance is @.0025 - two and a half thousandths, not 25 thousandths (.025) . the plastigauge will tell you the correct tolerance , as does ARC who made the rod. Take note of the 2 ball bearings and brass cam bushing in the side cover, a very nice piece. At 13:08, see the nice full across contact the valve compound shows for flywheel and crankshaft mating.

I am going to build this 20hp engine, which would you prefer and why, Preditor 212, Preditor Hemi 212, Tillitson or Tillitson electric start? Also isn’t there a Tillitson that has a pressure oiling system and if so what cc is it? Thanks, love your videos, that is what convinced me to build this engine for my Coleman mini-bike.

If you do an electric start, good luck finding a way to run a billet flywheel and still have a charging system for the battery. I've been racking my mind for months trying to figure it out.

Wow,,, nice stuff going on here. I cannot even find a set up for my 79 cc Predator. Nor can I find a clutch/converter plate that will work on 5/8 shaft. I have a good mind to return the 79cc and buy a 212, then build a bike frame that will compensate it. That way I can upgrade the motor so it will pass cars. LOL

I'd like to see a hemi version built to the max! Like Patrick Smith I can now take apart and rebuild my 212 hemi predator thanks to RBG! I am building a BBR tuning motorized bicycle with this motor. Any hints to make it fit appreciated as it is very tight. Also can I make it produce 12 volt for lights as I want to make it road legal. Never did any mechanical work in the past RBG is a great teacher!
