My experience of Beatmaker is that it is very unreliable. I find that it seems to work differently (especially with plug ins) every time i use it. Maybe it's just me, but that's my experience.
Thanks for your advice, Henny. I bought my first iPad DAW last year, to start my daughters on my favourite hobby - I had to go for Auria Pro, because it was the only one I could find which let us drop in changes in time signature: My youngest was already putting the occasional bar of 3/4 into her first song.
"are you ready to accept where you are" i can now say i was able to answer this question last days of december and yeah i'm ready to move forward. still using my ipad pro from 2017 and xkey!
CRASS2047 valid point. Nonetheless, for the creation process which is basically the biggest part of production, beatmaker 3 is a win win. If mixing and mastering is what you’re concerned about, just export the stems to a DAW. The truth is, you can’t mix if there is no beat to begin with.

Thank you for the tips! I started to get heavy into music production some years ago on an iPad 2. Starting using a computer with Studio One for everything, but I recently bought an Ipad Pro so I could get into iOS production again.
I bought Cubasis 10+ years ago and this is the first time they have charged me again and people complaining about $50? Go get Cubase, Pro tools, or Logic Pro X. The price is way heavier I thought the same thing at first but no charge for all of the updates since day 1 including Cubasis 2 was a free upgrade I can’t complain.... Plus, for the future of iOS production I have no problem supporting if we don’t and majors pullout then what will that say for our choice of platform? I loving Cubasis 3 right now for real it is the best daw right now...... GarageBand is a monster!!!! Sounds are great work flow is quick and easy....
Auria Pro has Cubasis 3 beat: full channel sends and much greater routing flexibility mainly, and the ability to sidechain the native plugins at least, as well as many non-destructive MIDI features such as humanize, quantize, non-destructive swing and groove templates. I think the audio editing is also still much better in Auria. Also, Cubasis 3 isn't stable from what I hear. Auria Pro is stable and very efficent due to being out much longer.
Michael Ray lol I’m an Auria Pro vet I’ve been using it since before it was pro.... But, I can assure you Cubasis 3 is no slouch you can and will get professional results... I personally don’t like working with midi in Auria I bring audio in... I don’t use side chaining I cut frequencies and make pockets even with the ability to side chain... But, I will tell you that NanoStudio 2 will beat the both of these 2 hands down once they get the audio tracks.... If it had audio tracks now I would delete both and not regret it
Highstyle Productions , I’m speaking in terms of utilizing Auria Pro for what it is. It’s not a Beat maker. It’s made for those who record actual instruments: like guitars, amps, pianos/keys and vocals of the sorts. I’m not bashing those who make make beats but it’s an entirely different world when doing what we do and most of those who make Beats dont even know how to start recording a authentic instrument, let alone mix them correctly. Working with RAW WAV files and loops/samples isn’t the same. I’m not saying Cubasis 3 isn’t nice but from all the reviews I’ve read, it’s not for those who are more old school and want an actual desktop-like DAW application on iOS. It’s seems your talking more about beat making applications you use inside an actual DAW, maybe I’m wrong. I’m just looking at your channel and not seeing any real DAW experience like Produce Like A Pro.
Michael Ray Your right I get it I love Auria I did another mix in there the other day and I swear it has the best sound engine I just hope they upgrade it sometime this year I feel like they are going to....
Highstyle Productions , trust me. I like Logic Pro X for its smart drum and sample features for sure so I’m not bashing here lol. Cubasis has its place. The Engine is likely better in Auria Pro because they programmed it from the ground up on the iPad since I think the iPad 2. It was just a matter of Apple introducing faster and more efficient SoC (A Series) in order to add more features and flexibility that require more CPU/Memory resources. Auria Pro will likely get better and more so than other iOS DAWs because it’s a company dumping all its resources into it and not being worried about leveling their Windows and MacOS market. Trust me, I’m an IT and those A10X-Current SoC that Apple have are beating Intel i7s in its benchmark class so its just a matter of time until Auria Pro is a very optimized and powerful DAW for iOS thats rivaling desktop/laptop DAWs. They will probably make exclusive features for 11-13” iPad Pros due to its larger screen and faster resources.
So have used both Cubasis 2 and Auria Pro, preferred Auria Pro, better flow. Cubasis 3 came out and had a lot of good press so I decided to to try it. Spent a week working with it and had issues with Inter-App Audio. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Dropped back to Cubasis 2 to double check the process to be sure I was doing it right, works fine there. Big issue since I use IAA to bring in my drums and amp modeling. Also does not have quantizing for audio files, it does for midi, but not audio. Editing audio is cumbersome as well. I understand that Cubasis 3 is a complete re-write and that's why there was no upgrade path from Cubasis 3. Seems like there are some items that need to be worked out before it's ready for prime time.
I sometimes get overwhelmed or distracted with all the things you can do in music production that you don't get anything done. I have decided that I will just go back to the basics. And for me, that is Garageband.
What DAW you recommend for those who play acoustic instruments such as drums, acoustic guitar (and singing)...on an iPad Pro? Thanks for the video, just discovered you.
What do you think about Auria Pro? I’m still deciding if I’m buying that (since it has 5 star reviews) than the new Cubasis 3. Also, I’m trying to venture on fingering drumming with my new Launchpad Mini. Does that fit well to both the Auria Pro and the Cubasis 3? Thanks

Great video mate. Do you know of a way to use Native Instruments sounds such as the Massive synth with Cubase 3 on the iPad? I also love the instruments from Spitfire audio which generally run through Kontakt. Any advice would be super appreciated? 👍🏻
Happy New Year! Man...BM3 gone? After I just figured it out? LOL. I did get Cubasis 3 recently though (I used Cubasis 2 also). Do you do sample chopping? If so what do you use? BM3 is still king for me with sample chopping...I use AUM for live (with the Yamaha BT-01 to make any MIDI keyboard compatible with the iPhone). I think I still need to see tracks and lanes (like in Cubasis). Garageband is the hidden gem. It is incredible! I often go there when I need specific sounds (a lot of dope ethnic sounds and drums for FREE). Did you delete BM3? Do you use it all for anything now? Or is it collecting digital dust? LOL. Great video man!
Man.. to tell you the truth, BM3 has been collecting “digital dust” for months now. I really like using Koala for my sampling needs but my process in the studio has warranted more use of AUM and Cubasis. BM3 is still a great tool, I’m just worried it won’t keep up with all these other developers making dope plugins.
@@HennyThaBizness True. Cubasis is my number 2, but I can easily see it becoming my number 1 once I get more into it (I'm coming from a ProTools background and Cubasis is more like that workflow for me). I haven't Koala much (not since 4th of July LOL). I have to dust that one off. That one is really powerful. Thanks again for all of this dope content man!
Happy new year Henny. You brought me to BM3 and soon starting a YT Channel myself. Will give Cubasis 3 a try. Used C2 earlier but loved using BM3 because I came from the Maschine. I really hope Intua is watching this and steps their game up....or maybe NI buys BM3 and makes BM4 with Maschine compatibility 🤣. Keep it up sir!
I have been seen these Akai Professional MPK Mini MKII | 25 Key Portable USB MIDI Keyboard With 8 Backlit Performance Ready Pads, 8 for 45 bucks are these good if your starting out wanting to make some Phat Beats and can that connect to a IPAD?
BadKarma 714 you can’t go wrong with it. Have one as a back up hardware for my iDevices. You will need the Apple camera / video adapter; with charger connected (portable chargers help with mobility), to power the MPK Mini MKII. Realistically it’s your imagination and the action of making music with whatever you have around. I mean literally, you’re using an iPad to produce music, enough said with whatever hardware you plan to utilize. Go big and enjoy the process with what’s available. Upgrade overtime with what suits your workflow and creativity once you build a foundation around it.
Happy 2020 bro. BM3 is so so sorry this year. Huge disappointment. Lost 1 track of mine. It comes up as corrupted. Whaaaa? Really. Im onto the ones that respect the craftsmanship of music. Anyway long story short. As always I thank you for your time and information. Keep keeping on.
I have many 24 track audio projects that were previously recorded. What’s the best mixer without all that midi and looping. I used to use Cubase SX 2 and 3 on windows to do my mixes. What kind of mastering plugins are out there? I had been using waves mastering plugins
No BeatMaker 3. That only saw I got familiar with but iPad broke so I’ve been fiend for making something but glad u showed me some other options for iPhone 🤘🏽✊🏽 thanks bro
Hey Henny, what music creation app(s) would you recommend to anyone who has a physical disability, and is unable to play an instrument due to physical limitations with their hands and feet? (Also wants to learn music production)
Most of these programs allow a piano roll feature. That feature allows you to simply press every note one by one and have the ability create a master piece … if you do the work 💪🏿💯🔥
Congrats on the Grammy Nomination! BTW, there is one thing I really wanted to ask your opinion about: what are the limitations of working with an iPad performance-wise? I mean, can you really make a complete professional quality track on an iPad alone and not suffer any glitches or freezes? Or maybe there are some limitations to what you can do or to the number of plugins you can add trying to get your track to perfection? These questions've been bugging me lately as I'm considering getting an iPad but still am not so sure about this idea. For example, there's a good deal in my country for a brand-new iPad Pro 10.5 2017 512GB, but could a MacBook Air 2017 be a better choice? Unfortunately I don't have lots of cash to spend so it is quite uneasy trying to understand what would work best for music production for about $1k...
I do believe you can create full scale, quality production with a 2017 iPad Pro. The apps that are available from professional DAWs to plugins to mastering apps, I wouldn’t hesitate to put something out that’s been done entirely on iPads (I’ve done it myself on that same device) ... once again I will say don’t focus so much on the perfection side of things and do you best to make your ideas complete. Try it out! I fully recommend it 👍🏼
Thanks! Here is a bit of feedback if you’re interested. Ya got good energy and good info. Nice props and framing. Decent lighting, though the shadows are a bit harsh. Wish we could hear the audio from the iPad line level. And bro, ya gotta lock that focus! I’m stoked to check out your other vids. Cheers!
Love you bro thanks for your knowledge... I am a beginner in this line your this video makes me happy and it inspired me♥️ Love from India... Pranay Palande ♥️
You're an inspiration bro. I play bass and want to learn how to start producing music. Been debating ipad or going with a tascam portastudio. You've helped a lot Edit:subscribed
What are your suggestions for guitar and bass players and singers to handle direct audio I’m using garage band and struggle with getting my tone right do I need to still use a direct box ? And or a mic pre?
Man.....I was on a business trip and was on fire!!! Then......my iMac slightly crackled, then shut down instantly and would not turn back on. Such a shame because I was cranking out a track every day and were the best I’ve ever done. Luckily it’s still under warranty . Getting it fixed when I get home. Hoping it’s the power supply and not the logic board!
My bro as for drum programming what do you use! I noticed that a lot of producers use BeatMaker 3 for drum programming. If I’m correct though can’t I program my drums then import my stems into Cubasis 3 or can I use BeatMaker 3 as a plugin within Cubasis 3. I’m almost got my setup complete. I’m still looking for that go to synth / analog Moog to ice my setup. As for drum though I want to use the MPC studio black because of the feel and playing live. I’m a drummer by trade for years so having that component as a part of my flow is mandatory. My bro I would appreciate some feedback!!!!

I have an Ipad 2018 and I use Beatmaker3, and i’ve been wondering if I should switch over to a macbook pro 13” or get an ipad pro 12.9”. I’ve been producing and filmmaking for about 3 years. Any thoughts?
Hey Henny!!! Happy New Year to you and your family, man! :) 2020 blessings. Glad you back with the music-making content, however, I have a question, before you been praising "Beatmaker 3" as one of the best iOS DAW's. How do you compare it now with AUM or Cubasis 3, in 2020? P.S. I'm really missing your "Adventures in the Beatmaking" series.
Beatmaker 3 was a great tool for a long time for me, it just hasn’t been stable enough for me to be able to trust it in 2020. Plus I wanted to find other ways to create than just sticking with one DAW.

Great video as always!!! I'm surprised Beatmaker 3 is not on your list. Do you not use it as much as before?
You always add a great message to all of you vids.
Cheers 🥃
you're the man. Big fan from Brazil's southernmost . Cheers
Great video mate. Do you know of a way to use Native Instruments sounds such as the Massive synth with Cubase 3 on the iPad? I also love the instruments from Spitfire audio which generally run through Kontakt. Any advice would be super appreciated? 👍🏻
Thank you for what you do you’ve really helped me. I’m starting with garage band singer/songwriter 💯💯💯
Glad I could help Kevin 🙏🏼
Needed to hear this today. Thank you!🙏🏻
I have been seen these Akai Professional MPK Mini MKII | 25 Key Portable USB MIDI Keyboard With 8 Backlit Performance Ready Pads, 8 for 45 bucks are these good if your starting out wanting to make some Phat Beats and can that connect to a IPAD?
BadKarma 714 you can’t go wrong with it. Have one as a back up hardware for my iDevices. You will need the Apple camera / video adapter; with charger connected (portable chargers help with mobility), to power the MPK Mini MKII.
Realistically it’s your imagination and the action of making music with whatever you have around. I mean literally, you’re using an iPad to produce music, enough said with whatever hardware you plan to utilize. Go big and enjoy the process with what’s available. Upgrade overtime with what suits your workflow and creativity once you build a foundation around it.
Yup that should work fine as long as you have a usb-lightning or USB-c hub for the connection
@@MexiChriS ok yeah I have the dongle's for my iPad
@@HennyThaBizness thanks I love this community.
Happy New Year My Brother!! Quick question is it easy to chop samples and assign to pads in cubasis3?
Happy 2020 bro. BM3 is so so sorry this year. Huge disappointment. Lost 1 track of mine. It comes up as corrupted. Whaaaa? Really. Im onto the ones that respect the craftsmanship of music. Anyway long story short. As always I thank you for your time and information. Keep keeping on.
Feel the same way!
Happy New year Henn Dawg! Let's make it another good one!
What iPad u got? Reckon I'd getaway with a standard iPad 7th gen with 128gb memory! Thanks for your vids.
Wow, after years of following you and listened that song for separate i get to know you were the producer. Cool Henny! More reasons to follow you!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
We need a new one of this … please
Happy New year bro! Way to go with what works. Even if it means switching it up. I’ve been doing more changing lately too. 💪🏾 lets go 2020!
You already know! I’m always looking for the newest, simplest and freshest ways to create and get ideas out. Let’s get it!!
Energy level UNMATCHED! 😏👌🏾
What tools do you recommend for learning Cubasis?
Great video, Henny. Always an inspiration.
Henny! I appreciate your energy bro. We talked awhile back and you inspired me to finally start my channel. Thank you so much. See you at the top! ✊🏽
Thanks for your videos and the channel. One question, do you know if The Arturia minilab runs well for the iPad GarageBand? Thanks a lot.
extremely helpful, thank you!!
Man thanks ive been waiting for the 2020 update bro! What are those BMI Plaques in the background fam I’m curious
That feature allows you to simply press every note one by one and have the ability create a master piece … if you do the work 💪🏿💯🔥
Is Cubasis better than BeatMaker 3 when it comes to using live instruments?
I think so. The editing capabilities are much more intuitive 👍🏼
I was waiting on this!
me too :)
Try it out! I fully recommend it 👍🏼
@@HennyThaBizness Thanks a lot for your reply! Much appreciated!
What great advice.Wishing you the best !
Henny I love your work man been here literally since day one loved it every since
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it. It always feels good to read comments like these 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I started out on GarageBand and am glad now I use Reaper yet I think in the beginning it would have been overwhelming
Cheers!
That’ beatmaker 3 you’ve been telling us about is finally my goto!! Finally figured out how to use it and it’s a beast!!!!just like you said bro
My guy, so hyped for 2020. Little did he know...
Awesome video!!!!
Love you man. Thanks for the advice. Sending good vibes from Austin, Texas!!!
thank you for this! 2020 is gonna be a great year!
Love you bro thanks for your knowledge...
I am a beginner in this line your this video makes me happy and it inspired me♥️
Love from India...
Pranay Palande ♥️
So humble
Best advice ever, thank you.
You're an inspiration bro. I play bass and want to learn how to start producing music. Been debating ipad or going with a tascam portastudio. You've helped a lot
Edit:subscribed
What are your suggestions for guitar and bass players and singers to handle direct audio I’m using garage band and struggle with getting my tone right do I need to still use a direct box ? And or a mic pre?
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GRAMMY NOMINATION 👽🚀🙌🙌🌟💚💚😎 SO AWESOME!! 🍀✨💪👏👏🙏
Love your videos. I have a question to ask. Can I take my external drive and put my native,Omnisphere, etc library into iOS daw?
No not at this time
Hey y’all I’m a the beginners level... what apps , mic , headphones do y’all recommend. I’ll be operating on iPad Pro 12.9 Device
Im planning to record vocals on my ipad pro and was wondering if you would recommend cubasis 3 or Beatmaker 3?
Hi, can you use beatmaker 3 for performance or is it only for production? Do you do live performance with your iPad?
Pardon my manner, CONGRATS on the GRAMMY nod!!!
Great video! This is my first time here, but I just subscribed. I found you on IAMLXGEND's page. Congrats on your Grammy nomination! BTW, Happy New Year!
Love the track sacrifices! One of my favorites on the album. It’s too bad BM3 didn’t make it, I’m definitely going to give AUM a try.
Gustavo Trigueros just listened this morning. So dope!
Kevin Allen I make sacrifices! Bloody sacrifices!

I have an Ipad 2018 and I use Beatmaker3, and i’ve been wondering if I should switch over to a macbook pro 13” or get an ipad pro 12.9”. I’ve been producing and filmmaking for about 3 years. Any thoughts?
GarageBand for me!🙌🏾 Love the Inter-App Audio feature.
Awesome 👏🏼
@Talan What is this Inter-App Audio feature you speak of?
Mikeyminit it allows you to record from iaa very easily, turns it into an audio track
Gusto T Understood. Thanks for that bit of info.
Henny Tha Bizness it crashed so much while I was using it
@@HennyThaBizness Thank you for the answer, Henny! Appreciate it. I'll be continuing to follow your videos on the music creation side and search my best tools for mobile flexibility! :) Keep on!
Great advice thank you!
