Thank you so much for watching this video! We release weekly videos teaching people how to produce music on their iOS device so make sure to subscribe! Your comments and likes mean the world to us so never be too afraid to say hi :)
#cubasis #cubasis3 #ios #ipad #musicproduction #mobilemusicpro
I did discover most of these features by reading the operation manual (available online), and doing some trial and error, but it’s great to see you go through and demonstrate the steps in a coherent way. Great job as always!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks James, this is just a beginner's video after all :)
I have to say. Your tutorials are the most on point that I have seen. Your ability to speak clearly and keep the fluidity in the transitions from one section to the next is at the top of the game. I know you love the music but I would also encourage you to branch out in this area. There are a lot of companies that need these types of training videos but do not have the resources to make them on their own. Also many HR departments need training videos. You may find that you can generate some serious income doing what you love.
Hey Bryant! Thank you so much for the kind words! But MMP is my full time job as I retired from 15 years of software development in 2019 :) I've got a 10 year long term vision for MMP and it's only been a year and a half hehe, so LOTS more to come ;) Stay tuned fam!
@@MobileMusicPro I totally understand. But, a little side money never hurts and you can control your jobs now. Just 1 or 2 a week could ad some serious cash for new toys.
@@bryantwalley As of 2019 I work for no one but MMP ;)
@@MobileMusicPro When should we expect to see the more advanced tutorial series you mentioned in the videos ?
@@WyattLite-n-inn The beginner's course that's coming out later this year will go pretty in depth even though it's for beginners simply because the course will be a couple hours long so there will be more time to go in depth. But actual "advanced" guides and courses won't be coming out until next year. It's a balancing act between creating videos and releasing products.
When I saw that this is a tutorial for beginners I thought that I already new Cubasis well enough to skip watching but must confess that there were many things learned. Thank you again Vortex.
You're so very welcome Alex! So glad we could help :)
Great structure and production. Also really like the concept of having videos tied to a downloadable guide, really helps staying focused.
Thanks so much Peter :)
Very well done! Best tutorial I have seen so far.
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed :)
Great tutorial, particularly for someone like myself who is ready to break away from the comfort of Garageband iOS and take my sounds to the next level! Thank you 👍🏻
You're very welcome Rick! :) We've got a ton more Cubasis 3 videos on the channel plus alot more coming :)
Your production value has gone way up! This was enjoyable and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thanks so much Daniel! :)
This tutorial is EPIC! Clear, concise and relevant. Thank you!
Thank you so much Sean! :)
@@MobileMusicPro Will the complete guide be coming out in 2023?
@@WyattLite-n-inn You can download the beginner's guide right now but yah going to have courses coming out in 2023 :)

Thanks for this overview and tutorial! Well organized and your voice flowed well in each section. Sub'd!

Wonderful help and clearly presented. Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge so freely.

This is one of the most No nonsense-To the point tutorial I’ve seen in awhile . Not just in Music but on UA-cam Period !

Are there tutorials for Cubasis3 LIVE?
Using all onboard sounds for live performances?
Yes. Recorded and then edited for time.
I REALLY appreciate you
Thanks so much Addison :)
Your a good teacher. Thx much
So glad we could help :)
Great explanation dude
Thanks so much!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I'm by no means a n00b when it comes to using DAWs, but this is my first DAW where I only have alike 7-inch screen and with my sausage fingers I make so many mistakes. I'm charging up my tablet right now to see if it works on there. But thanks for this course. I've figured a lot of already because I normally Use Cubase 12 Pro (Haven't updated to 13 because I don't use any of those tools normally in CubasePro12 because I have 3rd party VST/VSTi/apps to do the things that I wanted. Basically, I just bought this so that when I'm on planes/buses/car rides (Like 6-hour trips and above, time wise) I'd lie to just write something super easy. I just started the video, but I have a good gut feeling about THIS particular tutorial. If I can get it working on a tablet (Actually my phone has like a 6-7 inch screen and my tablet (Shield Tablet K1.... which is a piece of shit, but I think it can handle an 8 MB piano sample lol. I wonder if I can take any of my VST/VSTi and will allow them to work if they're VST2 or possibly VST3 (And of course, since Cubase Pro 12 doesn't allow VST/VSTi which are 32 bits. They can be VST2, even though 3 is the major feature of Cubase since like 10 or so. But you can also use 32-bit VST/VSTi UNLESS you use something like J Bridge which turns a 32-bit VST/VSTi to be able to be used as 64 Bit VST/VSTi. So, I apologize for such a long comment, but thank you for the tutorial. You rock, bro! Consider me subbed and liking the video!
So glad you found the video useful! Don't forget you can always use a bluetooth mouse if it's too hard to use your fingers, personally I always use a mouse. As far as VSTs go, unfortunately iOS doesn't support the VST standard, they do however support something incredibly similar called the AUv3 standard. Many of your favorite desktop apps already have AUv3 versions such as Fabfilter, pianotech, korg, moog and so much more. Simply search in the app store for "[insert my fav app] auv3" and you'll probably find it for 1/3 of the desktop price.
EXCELENT!
Thanks George!
Thanks Vortex, now I'm a little bit incline to try to record using Cubasis 3 I down loaded a year and a half ago.
Cubasis is great but Logic Pro on iPad is even better!
thank you!
You're very welcome :) Don't forget to checkout our free packs too!
thanks
You're very welcome!
On new iPad Pro M1 (5th gen) both class compliant Apogee Mic 96 or Sennheiser MK4 Digital are not recognized even if powered.
In addition it is not possibile to change/rise project sample rate (fixed by default @ 48khz).
Take notice that the units are fully recognized at 96k/24 bit by Garageband and Apogee Metarecorder apps.
Cubasis 3 is @ last version available.
Thanks in advance for support.
Best regards, F&M
Very interesting. Make sure to pass this onto the Cubasis 3 forum as well. Using the Focusrite over here and I'm able to change it to 96/24.
People say that the ipad is not up to running a daw…but for £25 ($30) you get a really good tool for a fraction of the price of the desktop version- brilliant value really considering what it can actually do
Those people are mostly quiet now that Logic Pro has come to iPad ;)
Thanks for the response.I have one minor complaint though, some latency with bluetooth headphones when using the pads or keyboard? No big deal I guess
@@brianp7022 yes unfortunately bluetooth headset does not work well for music production, only blue tooth midi devices.
Yes my Roland piano only has Bluetooth midi... No sockets😵 Surprisingly though it works well with this software👌
Let’s go!!!
Aww yeah, had to create a video to go with the guide! :)

Thanks so much Omanji :)
Thanks for the great tutorial. Have quick question. How do I male events transparent so the grid lines show through?
Thank you@
Sorry but it's not possible to make the events transparent :/
@@MobileMusicPro Thanks for the quick reply!
I have a Behringer XAir 18 and want to record band rehearsals on a 9th Gen iPad. However, we monitor ourselves with inears through the six auxiliary outputs. Can Cubasis assign track outputs to the auxiliary outs? Auria only allows track output to be L/R or its own internal sub, not to the aux outs.
Cubasis should be able to detect and send to any outputs on any class compliant interface or mixer.
What DAW would you recommend for iPad Air 5 and Tascam us-4x4hr? Thanks in advance.
Cubasis for Logic Pro would be awesome.
Question from a non-user: Is there a complex sample editor with features like gain envelope editing, stretching with different algorithms, slicing on 0-crossings, adding cue points to files, etc? Imagine an equivalent to Image-Line's Edison. I know there's no way a Cubasis plugin would come close to one of the best DAW sample editors, but is there an editor in the same category?
There's certainly a basic audio editor but as far as a sampler you'd need to use an auv3 plugin (equivalent to a VST on desktop) to get a full sampler experience. Personally I use segments and koala inside cubasis.
@@MobileMusicPro Thanks!
I have a zoom l-12 board. Is there anyway to use multi tracks in Cubasis 3? Also can you show how to add audio tracks not just midi?
Cubasis supports any class compliant midi/mackie/hui controllers. I show how to add an audio track at 08:33. To add an audio track you click add and then click Audio.
@@MobileMusicPro thank you! I’d love to see a video on how to interface my board and my navation midi controller through my iPad. For some it may seem rudimentary but it’s still a struggle for getting everything out of my equipment…
@@phattdaddy Hoping to create such a video at some point but as far as iPad is concerned you just plugin a usb hub into it via an adapter and it will auto pickup anything you plug into that usb hub. However there may be another couple of channels that can help you such as The GarageBand Guide and Studio Live Today.
Hello, is this good for podcast production and audio editing? I have Chromebook and some DAW are not allowed in Chromebook. Thank you
Hi there, though we do have many videos on Cubasis they're all using the iOS versions which is the only version that supports AUv3 apps/plugins inside the DAW.
@@MobileMusicPro thank you for the reply.
I See. Then, maybe Not possible for me to use IT since I have No IOS. :(
@@SimplySars You can still use it on android and google chrome books just not to the full intent that it was created for.
@@MobileMusicPro thank you. I will only use IT for Podcasting (recording and editing) . You think it IS Wörth to buy for my Podcasting? Thank you once again for your Video.
How do you trim? Like cutting the beginning or end of a track?
There is a split feature, and you can use the handles on either side of a region to increase or decrease its length.
How can you change a track clip to slip mode instead of grid mode please help 🙏🏽
Hello, all you should have to do is at the top right hand corner directly under the help question mark set the grid size to off :)
Is it possible to use the magic keyboard as a midi controller?
You can absolutely use it as a keyboard controller but I don't think you can use it as a midi controller because a regular keyboard doesn't output MIDI. However you can use any class compliant MIDI controller on the iPad that you can use on the desktop.
Can you import wav files (or other audio formats) as audio tracks?
Absolutely, you can use the built in library or drag and drop them audio and midi clips directly on the timeline from the files app.
Nice tutorial. What im searching is, how i Can draw something with precision, and not where it just Jump a little. You know, there is a little delay when recording, and cant Seem to find any Way to move it just a little. Hope you understand what i mean 😂
So the best way to get precision is to zoom in as much as possible. Using an apple pencil or a mouse can really help with that. As far as recording latency you can adjust this by modifying the Audio recording offset compensation in the Audio settings under "Setup". Adjusting this may reduce or remove your latency issues all together.
This needs updating again...Just got Cubasis 3 - doesn't look like this in several key areas.
Will certainly have to do that! But we also keep up with all of the updates as well with a 3.5 video coming out tomorrow, simply search for cubasis update on our channel :)
Is there a way to redraw a waveform in Cubasis 3 to repair waveform errors?
All the editing features are in the audio editor which can be opened by double tapping on any audio clip in the timeline.
Can I use Zoom R8 like midi controller for Cubasis3?
If yess, how to set ?
Yes you can, Cubasis is compatible with any class compliant midi controller.
@@MobileMusicPro Thank You Very Much.
Hola, como hago para que mi placa de audio focusrite solo funcione en mi celular android samsung galaxy s10e ?
Olá, geralmente usamos apenas produtos da Apple porque o Android não foi projetado para áudio em tempo real.
When I am using micrologue in Android mobile, that track is not getting deleted and I am not able to open any other project, the APP is exiting itself. help me please
Hey anand, unfortunately this channel is focused on iOS since android was not purpose built for handling real time audio. What I recommend you do is post your issue in cubasis forums to see if anyone can help. Here's the link: forums.steinberg.net/tags/c/cubasis/7/android
Like the way you teach!
Thanks so much Rohan! Trying my best :)
Does the mpk mk3 mini work on cubasis? Do you have a video on it?
Cubasis is and the iPad work with any class compliant midi controller. To hook it up you'd just need an adapter with a usb connection and then plug in the mdi device via usb.
@@MobileMusicPro ok, the thing is i was wondering what midi keyboard would be best to use. I dont have one and i dont want to get something that isnt compatible. Cant seem to find any videos on the matter. Your videos are the only ones i find anything useful about cubasis. But i dont see much on what youre using and how youre using it.
@@LvTheOni Yah we there isn't much hardware stuff on the channel yet but like I said iOS and cubasis is compatible with any midi device on the market :) There are smaller more portable keyboards, and then there's one that I use which is a 49 key in the studio so there's a midi keyboard for just about any purpose. You can find out every device we use on our website at mobilemusicpro.com/gear.
Please how to export music in this?
We have a video for just that usecase :) ua-cam.com/video/ZXRypNeKr04/v-deo.html
This video just convinced me to buy Cubasis3 as I’d seen it on sale.
But it’s gone up to full price again, so I will have to leave it sadly.
I assure you it's worth the price, $49.99 is of course pennies compared to the $299 and $399 desktop DAWs out there.
@@MobileMusicPro I know you’re right, but I believe they do a Spring sale so I may just wait a couple of months…… unless I crack and buy it hahaha
@@TheOverlordOfProcrastination Hah for sure they do put it on sale like 2 or 3 times a year :)
please help me, how i can,
mono change to stereo ??
cubase 3
Cubasis only supports stereo so if you imported a mono file and then exported or mixed it down it would automatically be converted to stereo by Cubasis.
@@MobileMusicPro Now I understand, thanks a lot for the help 💙
Como endereçar o volume do cubasis 3 para o controlador?
Poderia ser mais específico?
How to input chord symbols(chord names) in cubasis?
You have to input them manually in the piano roll. However we also have a free midi pack with all the most popular chords on our website.
Very helpful! Thank you so much!
How can I transfer the tracks to my Cubase pro 13 ?
Checkout this video from Jamie Mallender ua-cam.com/video/NuzVzntOwqE/v-deo.html
I believe the video I linked below is using this tool: o.steinberg.net/en/support/content_und_zubehoer/cubasis_project_importer.html
How do you start from scratch?
I recommend downloading our completely free Cubasis 3 Guide For Beginners here :)

Plus we're also currently working on a course for beginners as well.
For a Master Noob Level Beginner (MNLB) like me, 0.75x speed is the right speed.
Haha nothing wrong with that!
Quel contrôleur pour Cubasis? Merci
Why Android devices do not support adding external plugins
Hey Mirazi. Unfortunately the AUv3 standard (similar to the AU/VST standard on desktop) was created by Apple for Apple devices. Google has not bothered supporting or creating any current plugin standards. They're devices were simply not designed for low latency tasks such as real time audio processing. They were designed to be cheap and be able to check your email. So simply different priorities is all. This is why we do not create videos on nor do we recommend producing music for Android devices.
@@MobileMusicPro 🤔 This is why Android is the worst device in the world ٫ thank you bro 🙏
@@MobileMusicPro iSheep. 😁
@@MobileDecay Either that or Android doesn't support Auv3, is incredibly unstable due to fragmented ecosystem, or has a latency so terrible real time audio apps struggle to work, oh wait, it's all 3 :)
@@MobileMusicPro When is the last time you used android?
God I so want to get this. I’m scared I’ll never touch my computer again if I get.
It's a whole rabbit hole man :) Come to the dark side :)
Oh I live in the Rabbi's hole. Nothing but hidden Greek wisdom inside it when you realize that mystery. The kick drum in a band of freqs represents the All Seeing Eye of God. The drummer is usually seen in the middle and up on a drum riser making up the top of the pyramid or triangle. The drummer sits on a seat called a drum Throne. Beats on circles called skins with his rods or staff. You only see the drummers higher self the lower self is hidden by the all seeing kick drum eye. Drums simulate roaring thunder and shimmering ocean waves. In mysticism you decipher symbols and on a drum set they're called cymbals. The serpent represents high-end frequency because high-end hisses. Same goes with vocal sibilance. Or white noise like the snow from an old TV set which is the sound of the leftover radiation after the big bang. Everything's frequency which is why they call us freaks. The drummer represents God. Why? Because the drummer is the creator of Time and controls the flow of the Tempo/Temple. This comes from the Trivium and Quadrivium. The Quadrivium alone if understood mystically or Esoterically will lead you to a unified idea of reality. Geometry, music, astronomy, number. If all is number then Geometry would be number in Space while Music would be number in Time. Time is Rhythm and Rhythm is Time. Time brings order out of chaos and without it all you'd have is chaos. Think of it like a song. I can throw notes out all day long but if I don't put it in a time value then all its going to sound like is random noise. Random noise is chaos. Functional harmony reveals order for each chord has a function. The harmony in music reveals a hierarchy that forms a triangle which is the Greek Tetractys which is also the Hebrew Tetragrammaton which is YHWH aka the God of the Bible. Goes as follows 1:1 unison, 2:1 octave, 3:2 perfect 5th, 4:3 perfect 4th. The physics of the divided string reveals a ordered universe. So music is universal because it comes from the universe. The Christogram for Christ called Chi Rho is pronounced EXACTLY like Cairo the capital of Egypt. If you look at the pyramids from aerial view you'll see the X symbol. Same goes for Davinci's vitruvian man he's making the X symbol inside the circle. The truth is that the Alpha and Omega are also the Alphabet and Numbers. God's "word" is also the art of the word which involves deciphering the Proto Sinatic hierarch hieroglyphs which takes high-end frequency to decipher.
Sorry man I just pulled you down in with me. Check out the Chladni Figures Christmas Lectures on UA-cam by the Royal Institution and think outside your box cause it's a cube. Lots to reveal there. If you've got the EYE to see it.
How do I set the key of the song?
There's no way to set a global key in Cubasis like there is in GarageBand. There are MIDI fx apps like scaler though that can help you stay in key. We also have MIDI packs with all the scales that can help as well.
@@MobileMusicPro That's disappointing...
@@princessl.d.g. It's not common to be able to set a key for the entire DAW as many songs change keys by going in and out of various scales during the song, however if that's what you're used to then you might have to stick with GarageBand as that's pretty much the only DAW that does this.
@@MobileMusicPro Oh, that's okay. I need a new DAW since Garage Band has some limitations. I still like Cubasis.
