    Tip: While sanding never go in curcular motions. Stright scraches are much easier to remove then circular scraches.

Did by hand just like you did it's extremely hard to get out the fade marks from wet sanding I used the compound worked on it for over an hour and it just made it slightly better but you can still see the marks where I wet sanded... My only option is now to bring it to a professional with the high speed buffer.

      @ck1319 2 роки тому

      That is incorrect. The instructions on the paint pen from Honda is to fill the chip, wait 10-15 minutes for paint to dry, then apply clear coat.
      If you sand the paint, then polish, then add clear coat and then polish again, you are now cutting more into the clear coat of the surrounding area of the chip for no reason. Fill the chip with paint, let it dry and then seal it with clear coat. Paint and clear coat levels are different by make and model. But keep in mind you only have about the same thickness as a sheet of paper.
      Simple trick that I’ve used for years now is to take a small plastic Coke bottle cap, mix half paint and half clear coat at 50/50 ratio, stir and mix until the texture is almost like syrup, take the pointed end of a toothpick to dab the paint and let the chip fill as needed, let it dry, sand it down even and then compound and polish. No car wash or other coatings for 30 days.
      Not knocking on this video. If your result was great then so be it. But the paint and then clear after is instructions on the paint pen.

    After filling in the rock chips with paint and letting it dry for 30 minutes or so, did you wet sand with 1000 grit, then apply another layer of paint, let it dry again for 30 minutes, and then wet sand again with 2000 grit before applying compound and mirror glaze?

      If you don't have rust then u do not need to sand BEFORE adding paint BUT you WILL have to do the other sanding steps that come after the paint and after the clear coat.

      It shouldn't make it dull, especially since the clear coat protects the paint, but if it does then it probably wouldn't be to bad in your case since its white paint. Im not 100% sure but I would think that white can't really get dull.

Which made it smooth and blended a shine back. But the paint is still a lot darker on the chip. I got it from a Honda dealership. Sonic pearl grey.. why do you think it looks so dark??? Cause you even applied alot of paint to hide the indent. Any ideas behind that??

    • @MoisesEmpire
      @MoisesEmpire  Рік тому +1

      When metallic or pearl finish paints are sprayed, these flakes are consistently aligned and the finish reflects light accordingly. When such paints are brushed on, these flakes can lay in the paint differently, causing less light to be reflected. This appears darker. It is recommended that you apply another coat (if necessary, polish the existing top coat down a bit to make room for the new coat). Try to brush this coat on lightly. Then polish it, clear it, and polish and wax the clear. That should help reduce this dark effect.

      Clean first. Sand if you have rust. Clean again. Paint and let dry. Wet sand to even out the paint you just added. Then use compound to remove sanding marks. And last step is to buff with a good polish.
