I doubt you'll see this but I had to hop on here and thank you! For over half my life I've struggled with cystic acne and severely oily skin. I've tried countless products and went to multiple doctors who have prescribed me many different antibiotics, topical ointments, and oral medications. Some of which actually caused me pain or caused my skin to crack and bleed. I started watching your videos years ago. I would try products based on your recommendations but I don't think I was truly listening. I was just looking for a quick fix. However, recently I decided to take everything I've learned from you and apply it to myself. I found an SPF that doesn't break me out and I put it on everyday multiple times a day. I started being more mindful of how much water I drink. I discovered that I was washing my face too often and using way too many products for my own personal skin. I only wash my face at night now. I started a retinol treatment that you suggested but found doing it every other week works best for me. When I wear makeup I double wash and was surprised to discover how much I was missing the first time! I've been at this new skin care routine for a month and today I woke up with no active breakouts whatsoever. I have never since the age of 12 had no acne on my face. I feel free.

I would love to see a step by step AM and PM video of The Ordinary skin care routine. You videos are filled with a wealth of information and scientific facts, so thankful to have found your channel. Hi - a lad here! So I use it with CE Ferulic as in when I run out of C E Ferulic, I buy the Ordinary (resveratrol). When I finish the bottle of resveratrol, I then buy CE Ferulic coz it's expensive🤦🏻‍♂All female colleagues at work have been asking me about my skin lol and my skin care is so basic please don't laugh.
AM: I don't cleanse... what for? I can't be bothered and I don't sleep with pigs so CE Ferulic or Resveratrol + SPF 50+ broad spectrum (La roche or nivea or garnier).
PM: Cera Ve cleanser (hydrating one as it doesn't strip my skin) + tretinoin with B5 (prescription) + moisturiser from Cera Ve.
That's all. Literally... Every single day 365. I'm so used to it now the whole thing takes minutes. Am I doing it right? I guess as I get a lot of compliments I'm a lad who's busy and all that so yeah :) and my skin looks great I guess lol

My current antioxidant morning cocktail serum ~~ so budget & skin friendly:
2 drops each of the Ordinary's: Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%, Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil, followed up with a light moisturizer or not ~~ and an SPF, not an option to skip. Perfection, for my skin currently.
Various vit C serums and creams were not big hits with my skin, so thought I would try and simplify it for my skin ~~ been using this combo since January, daily, with zero adverse reactions.
54, not usually sensitive skin, but
menopause can be a tricky journey ~~~ in so many aspects.
As always, thank you Dr. D for laying out the facts, straight and to the point.

Been using The Ordinary resveratrol+ferulic acid for a while now, and I can definitely confirm it works wonderfully, at least on my skin (40, combination). I have noticed, too, that 3 drops are indeed enough to cover my face and neck, and the morning after I usually can see a difference already, with my skin looking smoother, a healthy glow to it, and feeling softer. No irritation whatsoever, though I am not the most sensitive kind of skin anyway. Would definitely recommend this product.

TO Resveratrol + Ferulic acid gave me a very bad face allergy. I used it for 3 months without any problems at first but then things started to get weird; my face just randomly got all swollen, red and itchy and it lasted for days. That happened everytime I reintroduced resveratrol back into my routine, but since it didn't happen right away I didn't know until I did a patch test on my neck once. In few days only the spot where I put a drop of resveratrol would get an allergic reaction. So now i'm like 95% sure it was this particular product. It's weird because for most people it seems completely fine (i'm jealous!), so I would only encourage you to do a patch test at first before using it :)

It work perfectly with water-based vitamin C serum. Just add 2 drops of this to the vc serum in your palm, and it will boost the vc's effect. And you will not feel greasy of the propanediol. I make my own vitamin C (20% L Ascorbic Acid) and put a dropper full of Resveratrol in the formula. Resveratrol acts like a vitamin C booster because of the potent antioxidant benefits. I’ve just found this video. This is one of my favourite skin care ingredients. I have lupus and sensitive skin in general. I use this with sunscreen and vitamin E, It definitely helps with inflammation and photosensitivity.
I don’t get along with retinol or vitamin C so I’m glad there is something I can tolerate that protects against wrinkles and reduces inflammation.

I am skeptical of topical resveratrol. The formulation does not specify what form is used. Trans-resveratrol is the only form tested to be beneficial. I always raise an eyebrow at anti-oxidant clams with resveratrol and anti-aging. While it is a mild antioxidant that is not how it confers benefit. It supposedly activates SIRT enzymes that aid in DNA repair and proper silencing. It does this by acting as a hormetic compound. Not an exogenous antioxidant. If you do purchase this...keep it refrigerated as resveratrol will easily oxidize.

Some flase information here, basically resveratol is to be ingested, it is NOT decently available through grapes but it mainly in the SKIN of red grapes, not in the grape itself. Dr David Sinclair did some very good research into this. The problem is that what you BUY over the counter may not BE resveratol, or at least not in a quanitity that works adequately.

I have normal skin without any special issues. My first resveratrol product was from The Ordinary; used a bottle but didn't see any difference. Then I got the Skinceuticals Resveratrol which rejuvenated my skin immediately. But, tbh it's very expensive!!! Maybe I'll buy again in the future, but in the meantime, I'm using Caudalie's resveratrol. It's a very light serum that i'm able to wear both day and night and it makes my skin feel tightier. It had an eye gel with resveratrol as a gift, which is also good.

I would really love a video that discusses how much antioxidants is enough/ too much, both topically/ internally. Because I believe studies show too much antioxidants can lead to death, cancer and other illness. etc... But how much is too much? For example; if you’re using/ taking Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Resveratrol, NAC, Glutathione etc at the daily recommended amounts, but together would that be overdosing on antioxidants? Because no one is talking about this, they are just selling us antioxidants as the "elixir of youth".

Agree with other comments about The Ordinary's unfortunate formulation--it made my skin red and inflamed even though I used three drops max. I use the Paula's Choice product instead despite its higher price point.

Wow! I have been meaning to email you to ask after your thoughts on resveratrol for like the last 2 weeks! I have been talking with people about resveratrol since the mid 90s (yes...old person) with Dr Laura Catena who is an owner of the winery Catena in Argentina. She has been talking about doing studies on topical resveratrol and producing a skin care line for years. Unfortunately, she is a crazy busy woman, so getting around to this may take a while. My resveratrol of choice comes form the brand Caudalie, which is expensive, but it is a very pure source as they also own the Bordeaux chateau Smith Haut Lafitte. There's nothing like having mass quantities of grape pomace at your disposal. I know that you're not a proponent of alcohol consumption, but if people did drink red wine already, resveratrol is in its highest concentration in grapes grown at high altitude like Malbec from Argentina as well as varieties like pinot noir. If you don't drink, however, you can easily get resveratrol by eating red grapes or drink red grape juice. (Sorry...not the white stuff) Resveratrol is also a heart healthy antioxidant. www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heart-disease/in-depth/red-wine/art-20048281 Oh...full disclosure...I'm in the wine business.

I’ve tried The Ordinary’s resveratrol serum. Unfortunately, I did find I developed some dermatitis after incorporating it into my routine for a few weeks. I had been using a retinol (the fragrance free Neutrogena one you’ve mentioned) for a month prior with no issue. I applied the resveratrol (sparingly!) in the morning and the retinol at night. I would like to give this one another try sometime, but I’m starting tretinoin soon so I’m going to allow for an adjustment period first before revisiting. I would love for this to work for me since I share your skepticism re: most vitamin C serums.

My sensitive, combo skin could not handle The Ordinary's version of this. I mixed it with their NMF+HA moisturizer and my skin would turn red and have a burning or warming sensation to it. And then it felt too oily on me and may have broken me out so I would not recommend this to someone with sensitive skin but this is just my experience. I wanted to like it but it even burned on my body which is rare. It's usually just my face and neck that are sensitive. Good thing its inexpensive!
