- Welcome to 2023 and Beyond!
2022 was an outstanding year for DCS which saw the introduction of new modules such as DCS: AH-64D, DCS: Black Shark 3, DCS: MB-339, DCS: Mirage F1, DCS: South Atlantic Map, as well as many exciting campaigns. This is in addition to several impressive community-created aircraft mods.
2023 is a truly exciting year, with the introduction of eagerly awaiting modules such as the DCS: F-4E by Heatblur, DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM, DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior by Polychop, DCS: F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3, DCS: C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company, new Mirage F1 versions by Aerges, DCS: Normandy 2.0 map by Ugra Media, the DCS: Sinai Map by OnReTech and more!
With close to half of our team working on Core engine improvements, 2023 is also looking great, with the introduction of Multi-Threading, DLSS/NIS, Vulkan API. enhanced weather, the dynamic campaign engine, and much more.
The road ahead is long and steep, but we will fight hard to achieve the very best for you, our passionate Community, and to deserve your trust and support.

As a huge aviation nerd I gotta say every time I watch one of these new "and beyond" videos I tear up a little bit. DCS truly is an experience instead of simply a game

@3dfreak2000 The Mig-17 and F-100 are the only jets you listed from the Vietnam era. And the Mig-17 isn't officially announced yet. DCS Vietnam would be awesome, but probably not in our lives. For some reason, they just don't want to do it.

DCS hands down is the best flight simulator out there - nothing else even comes close. Thank you for all that you do for aviation enthusiasts worldwide.
Which world do you live in mate? It isn't. Its barely a flight simulator imo. Where is a proper implemention of ATC, an entire world to explore? The world isn't restricted to Military aircraft! Its an unrealsitic experience of what the Aviation world truly represents!

@@caribbaviator7058 Dude, we have dedicated aircontrollers, theres SRS active on almost every MP Server, we have huge maps with a lot of details and can build dozens of scenarios.
We got full voice over campaigns with proper storylines for almost every aircraft there is in this game and theres a couple of airforces around the world who are using DCS to train their pilots.

Yeah same in wich world do you leave on !? DCS is barely ok and its the only military simulator you realy dont know much DCS need competion to grow its been there for more the 10 years and again its ok but very far form suberbe saying is like stil beleving the earth is flat !
IL2 is really good too, its does a couple of things DCS doesn't so its worth having both. I tried microsoft flight simulator on gamepass but the ground graphics are just terrible and what do you even do in that game, its just flying around looking at stuff.
Awesome of you guys to acknowledge the hard work of the team behind the A-4E! Would be nice if you guys gave them SDK access to bring it up to it's full potential, if anyone deserves it, it should be them. Though I do understand if that's not possible due to legal or business reasons, I'm sure access to SDK comes with tons of contractual obligations and paperwork for the 3rd party developers.
The question is 'have they?'. When has ED ever shown a Mod in a promotional video?

I can't believe I've been here since LOMAC Flaming Cliffs. Seeing the progression from then to now is insane, and the game really has come into its own the past 2-3 years of development. This feels like another massive step for the game, and its community.
I have been here since then as well. Other games and sims have come and gone. DCS has never left any of my computers.

A Mirage 2000-5F would be great... it would be harder for F-16 pilots to fight the Mirage
I shed a tear every time I see one of these trailers. I started using flight sims when I was around 7 years old. Tomorrow at 22 I take my first flight towards my private pilots license, and many more ratings and licenses beyond that. DCS has been part of the journey all the way. Thank you ED for instilling in me the beauty of aviation and in inspiring me to break through the clouds myself.

The cockpit at 00:43 is the (EDIT) OH-58 cockpit.
I am hoping the several appearances of the A-4 in this video means ED, and the A-4 mods developers, have made the decision to officially add the A-4 however that would only be added as a free addition, unless the stance of the community mod devs has changed. They could have pulled a "hail Mary" and reached an agreement for licensing, who knows. However RAZBAM expressed a desire to do an A-4 module, I can't remember the variant though... And RAZBAM have already done Skyhawks for MFS in the past.
The cockpit at 04:37 is the CH-47 Chinook's cockpit. Unsure on the variant. Most likely a D (but could also be an F), with the MWS installed. No idea what the 'box' under the nose is - I've not seen a Chinook with that item/system installed.

This entire sequence. THe sun, the music, the planes. Its all just *chefs kiss* SO good. It reminds me of Ace combats Pre-rendered Trailers in a weird way, its clearly a gaem but its just so stunning and all teh little camera shake details make it so enrapturing to watch. The way teh camera is so zoomed in and shakes like its struggling to keep up with the aircraft is SO GOOD. Incredible work.

I have been flight simming since 1982 and this is simply the finest most enjoyable flight sim that has ever existed. This is what we used to DREAM flight sims could be. Thanks guys!

I was born in 77 and i remember the first "sim" i had was ACE (Air combat emulator) haha ... that must've been early to mid 80s....my first big Sim came on the Amiga 500 which was Falcon :)

Let's hope we see core game improvements. Hopefully ED recognizes the need for a more robust CA presentation with native IADs and C3. Scripts get us closer but we seriously need work on core.

ED *must* also attempt to bring down filesize. Either by removing content that is not accessible/not used or by fixing the engine.
Exactly. New modules mean nothing if the game runs poorly, has very limited mission designer features and very basic AI. Hopefully this year we see proper improvements in the way of multithreading, AI behaviour and some of the decade-old requested features for the mission editor. It's just hard to get excited for new modules and these videos nowadays when DCS is let down in many other ways, even including the bug reporting and how much of a gamble it can be to report a bug with no proper review going into it before it's shut down.
Do any of you guys even read the news letters? They just announced massive progress on muti core and the dynamic campaign. I'm all about pushing ED to improve the core game. But they have been doing that. This year saw a massive improvement in Air to air Ai. They rarely make big announcements on the news letter until they are close. And they've made the above announcements recently. As for performance, one muti core, and two, you have to keep your hardware up. That's the cost a continuously updated game.

1) Core Enhancements (Engine)
2) Better Ground AI
3) Destructible Trees
And okay, maybe some new modules mixed within
1) New AI (no more random groups, but units like platoons and companies that follow commands and design of such unit. No more waypoints for ground units but objectives, like obj1, obj2, obj3 and what is defensive, attack and all proper ROE, designated zones, routes, secondary positions etc)
2) realistic SAM simulations (to actually make them a serious threat to any fighter, because their multi-sensor targeting, networked target sharing and informing)
3) deforming terrain and objects (so trees can get cut off, blown to pieces, fall off, but as well terrain will get craters and torched grass, lots of rocks, small trees and other things to hide, and small terrain elevation details).
4) GCI that actually talks to you to perform intercepts, guide you in the dogfight where the enemy is and its energy state.
5) ATC for every airfield and airport. That requires players to obey them.

"DCS WORLD | 2023 AND BEYOND" was released on the 4th of January last year. Seeing tomorrow is January 4, 2024, let's hope we are mere hours away from 2024 AND BEYOND. Lets take a second to give E.D. their props... I cannot thing of any other developer that has this much anticipation for a trailer. I cannot speak for everyone, but I get excited on December 1st for this release!
The hype is real. Im hoping for dynamic campaign news and release dates for F-15E, F-4E, and Eurofighter!

DCS is, genuenly, the best game/Sim i have ever played. Its so much more than just stepping into a Cockpit and taking off. DCS lets me do what i always Dreamt if as a kid, but will never be able to do for real. It also has the best community i have ever experienced, with people helping each other, caring for each other as if we have known each other for years, and the devs are just incredible with the amount of work and effort they put in. I cant describe in words how thankful i am.
So happy I found and stayed with Lock On and DCS all those years ago, to see what it has become and so excited to see what DCS can be in the future. Fan for life.

Look I'm just hoping that new B-52 model means we might get one as a multicrew vic
DCS has so much to offer but what I miss out on in DCS is more ground content implemented for creating immersive bases, outposts etc that gives you a sense that there is more to it than just random units on the ground.
There are alot of great standalone mods like Massun92 asset pack, Frenchpack, east, west and United Nations liveries and more that provides the means to build really cool bases and more which adds to the DCS experience.
Granted its a flight sim but without a higher variety of ground content there is only so much you can look for on the ground and experience.
I personally use a wide array of mods that provide great content. It would be nice to see them a part of the base game 👍

This just makes me take a step back and reflect, in absolute awe, on just how far humanity has come. The technology behind these machines. The technology to bring this experience to so many people. Wild stuff. Thank you for letting me experience a bit your passion.
One year ago, I got pulled in by DCS 2022 and beyond. I was just mesmerized, starstruck and as I made my first year with DCS world a reality,
It was so profound, I had to go out and get a PC, Warthog HOTAS, the Modules, maps and campaigns have added only ij value to the overall experience, despite me staying primarily with actually only one airframe, there are others waiting for me to take them out for a spin as well.
I couldn't honestly think of a better way to say thank YOU Eagle Dynamics for making my dreams come true. I grew up dreaming of flying these aircraft, and all you do is add to the list of incredible experiences, by ever expanding your modules, maps and enhancements. We collectively speaking, as pilots express our gratitude for your dedication and commitment to near perfection keeps us inspired. ❤️

I have a friend who flew Chinooks in the 160th, I showed him this and told him he had to get into VR with DCS! He was stoked to see how realistic you got this!

Should definitely implement FSR before implementing DLSS, as FSR works on all the hardware. DLSS is a proprietary vendor lock in.
Optimizations, multi-threading, multi-core, all very much needed ASAP, and then full fidelity red aircraft. With the only availability being FC3 or Col-War and older, we're severely lacking in that department.
I would like something like an IADS commander module along with a dynamic campaign for the core and other command positions, something like a large scale rts but with a much more realistic simulation of the environment of sensors, flight models, behavior of weapons systems, etc running under the hood (everything an ordinary RTS could ever have, all on the same platform, has unimaginable potential.)

@@biggie10101 These planes aren't low quality objects you'll find in Warthunder or Ace Combat. They are near identical to the real deal. It takes years to make, animate and script them. Plus with recent world events. Things have had to be delayed. It's better to delay something than to half arse it, which you would complain about if it was not up to usual standards

Compared to DCS, almost every button is clickable and does something, the computers onboard have to do calculations just like the real aircraft computers have to do. To learn the Warthunder version, it takes a couple of hours max. DCS just to learn the basics can take a week, but that's barely even enough to fly the aircraft. Mastering the aircraft can take over a month. That is the level of detail difference between an arcade model, and a simulator model

I have been apart of the DCS community for two years now and I can say that is it the best Military Simulation out there. I fly the F-16 and I smile when I see it in your trailers, but I love seeing the other planes just as much. Each plane is unique, just as the pilots who fly them. Both in game and in real life. 2023! It is crazy how far technology has come in my lifetime. I still remember when simulators like F-16 Fighting Falcon were considered state of the art.

I think dcs would be the all time kings if they implimented a real time dynamic campaign like falcon 4.0. That was amazing. I dont know how they did it but it was masterful.

@@dr_arcade Multithreading will enable more cores to be used on the cpu, lower and higher end systems should all see improvements. Dlss tends to give higher fps with minimal quality loss in visuals

Honestly, I think the respect is mutual between eagle dynamics and the community. You guys have managed to deliver a game that is realistic enough for actual fighter pilots to validate and support. I remember seeing an f16 pilot reacts to the dcs f16 and he was grinning nearly the whole way through. I can see the amount of work that goes into every little detail. Keep up the great work. I’m excited to see how far dcs comes in another 5 - 10 years.

When i first started with Lock on modern air combat i was impressed. Switching to FC2 witnessing the introduction of the new crash model and physics of the Su-25 was at this time peak simulation.
Now we have 2023 and i cant believe the fidelity of dcs ED has achieved, it's just unreal.

I hope that the C-130 does so extremely well that they start pushing more heavies. I would love to have the ability to fly the B-52. Full player bomber escort missions would be a blast.
