I worked on F-4s as a USN AME at Patuxent River, MD in the 70s. One benefit to being stationed there was it was very easy to get back seat rides, which I did, a LOT. Riding in those beasts was something you never forget...........
Yep, I was at Pax from 1960-63 at Service Test hanger, at that time we were required to have flight time every month! I flew in the back seat many times even got a gold mach two pin from McDonald Douglas! Was the F-4 that had Casper the friendly ghost painted on it still there?
There is just something certainly magical about rattling machinery moving at seemingly impossible speeds relative to anything alive, being subjected to forces beyond natural. Intro of this trailer is superb, it feels like a tribute to humanity beyond F4E itself. Amazing job.
pilot customization might not seem like a big deal to most people, but its HUGE for immersion when you spend so much time playing with friends and taking screenshots and videos. i can't be more excited for this
That would make even more sense if ED decided to make DCS more ArmA'esque and allowed for controllable avatars. Being the pilot and not the plane itself really makes for better immersion.
@@kingdomofvinland8827 ABSOLUTELY!! i actually wanted to say this, but for whatever reason, people get mad when you bring up women in video games...?? but like... i'm a woman and i want my character to be one too
You guys have pushed beyond the limits in my opinion. Never imagined air combat sim to be on this level back during the Lock-On: Modern Air Combat days and look at where we are now 👏🏾
You’ve gone to a level of detail that was totally unnecessary (customisable pilot models etc), but it shows just how dedicated you guys truly are to your work. When I finally get my life back to some semblance of normality, I’ll be adding this to the library of modules I already have (including the HB F-14 Tomcat). This truly looks phenomenal, well done guys.
Yet again, Heatblur goes above and beyond. They are the gold standard for modules and I for one am super impressed. It was a no brainier and a complete "shut up and take my money" moment. I am listening to old fighter pilot songs from the Vietnam war at work and thinking about how great it will be flying the Foxtrot Four, Phantom II with the Red River Rats and Col. Olds. Now we get to ride this emotional high and do it all over again with the A-6 intruder. Devil 505, feet dry.
The vapor particle effects over the wings look jawdroppingly good. Simply stunning, all of this. You would have thought the tomcat would be hard to top but the knocked it out the ballpark once again... You could cut scenes from this trailer into a AAA action movie and it would hardly be noticeable quality wise
Whoever made this trailer.... holy hell. I am totally new to DCS and flight sims.... and this trailer gave me goosebumps and made me almost tear up from how epic this is. I dont even know how to fly the first plane I bought, but im already buying this.
This was hands down the greatest introduction to any product ever. The balance between satire and seriousness could not have been more pherfect… **cough** 8:36
1:42 I can not wait to play a big mission like this with a large formation of F-4s and have that time where you all meet up to refuel in air and with the new coms that is gonna be AWESOME
Absolute impressive photo realistic looking new space age rocket have you here. Especially the function that brings up a very detailed manual when clicking on any switch or instrument is just perfect because learning a jet goes way beyond understanding a Cessna and is also way more complex than the well-known airliner cockpit layouts (when having studied and learned to fly one airliner you know them all, just MCDU and FMC differ. Slightly.) But not so in a jet! They are all so different and the complexity and the difficulty spike is a worthy challenge and step forward after having learned to fly the Fenix Airbus. Having a manual with detailed description showing up on command is such a great new idea, how often have I seen in my decades of simming a tool tip or help message popping up saying nothing but for example "main MSL ACMR-HTR CMD" when hoovering the mouse cursor above a switch labeled MSL ACMR-HTR CMD. Aha... :D that is not helpful at all. That´s why combining the cockpit with a detailed dynamic manual describing in detail what a certain switch or cockpit instrument actually does is brilliant and makes fully diving into the aircraft systems more fun authentic and immersive. Is this awesome retro-rocket equipped with ILS autopilot autoland function like the carrier autoland of the Tomcat? For rainy night flights and CATIII-B landings? And it is even more fast than the Tomcat? Awesome!
I' am absolutely amazed by the amount of dedication, accuracy, and passion that the Heatblur team has put into all of their modules but especially this upcoming F-4E Phantom II module ! You guys bring people's dreams of flying military aircraft into a reality with this amount of detail. Thank you guys for all your hard work !
I worked F-4E/G radar (APQ-120) for a long time, and I'm looking forward to seeing the DCSG radar scope in this simulation. The radar was part of the Weapons Control System, as was the AIM-7 missile firing system (lockon, launch, guidance), and AGM-65 missile firing system as well (not to mention the ASG-26 Lead Computing Optical Sight System in the -E, and ASG-30 in the -G))
@@mamo4731 Actual (not estimated) radar ranges are typically highly classified and because nobody bothered to file a FOIA request they probably never got around to declassifying it for the Phantom, or because there might be a couple allies who still operate it. It will be up to Heatblur Simulations to answer what to expect in DCS. What we will get may be in some ways influenced by reality but is still not strictly bound to it. They are trying to create a convincing lucid dream, not a reality.
The maximum range was 200 miles, but lock on was limited to 50 miles. There were range settings of 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 miles if I recall correctly @@mamo4731
God damm this is amazing guys. You have outdoned everyone in the industry. This is not just a good module, its rising the bar with new cool features aswell. Full price buy for sure. Congratulations!❤
You did it once again Heatblur, Bravo! It was an instant buy for me and I can’t wait to see some of the new things transfer over to the Tomcat! This has far exceeded my expectations for what would be included.
Well done Heatblur. I am not that interested in F4, but I'm buying it anyway to try it out and to support the amazing 3rd party devs, who not only deliver the module, but implement a ton of features around it. I wish one day these features will be translated into other modules in DCS, from F10 menu to instruction manual. Fantastic ideas you guys (and delivering it)!
I feel like this is worth it for the on-the-fly documentation alone. Actually being able to know what every switch and button does with a simple click instead of needing to google a tutorial or guide will make the learning process that much faster and enjoyable
Components based simulation is the future. Heatblur really outdid themselves this time. They set a high standard for fidelity. The F4 changes DCS and all flight sims forever.
Again Heatblur Simulations is raising the bar when it comes to fidelity and learning to operate these amazing aircrafts. This in-cockpit manual is like an e-learning manual, amazing feature to make things easier to understand and operate! An example to other companies which are developing for DCS World. Also i'm very glad you overhauled JESTER to be more engaging and really trying to be your buddy :). Also good to hear the A-6 Intruder will get also JESTER!
Thanks for releasing such a great module and actually taking the time to make it probably the most detailed and best module there is out there!🔥 It released 2 hours ago and I already bought the crew pack founders edition. Can’t wait for everything to arrive. (I need help! 😅)
My grandpa was a crew chief for the F-4 and he says he still remembers it all! It would be an incredible experience to have him fly it and take turns being crew chief for takeoff!
Did you guys model Robin Olds? Cause that fellow ~5:28 sure as heck looks like him. Now all we need is a Vietnam map and asset pack! (and more aircraft like the F-105 Thud, F-100 Super Sabre, F8 Crusader, A1 Skyraider, A6 intruder, UH-1B/C Iroquois, AH-1, etc etc). Anyways looks really awesome, preordered!
What I love the most in Heatblur modules is the *clicks* sounds inside the cockpit (levers, metal stress, etc). Even this type of audio it adds a lot of details. I'm sure there will be in F-4E also.
I grew up 5 miles from the 147th ANG at Ellington AFB. The Phantom sites and sounds, and sometimes even smells, were part of my childhood. Thank you for building this.
In france we don't say "low altitude in the mountains and fox 2's", we say "radada dans les montagnes et fox 2 dans ta gueule" and I think that's beautiful
DCS really is a museum. It’s an interactive simulator/museum. I’m shocked at level of detail and quality. This is going set a new bar. It really is astonishing and signals that we have arrived at the future of simming. I can’t wait to try this thing out. Sales numbers will likely be enormous and I hope it encourages new and more development teams to work on new very high fidelity products. I really wish it were possible to do an F-105D Thunderchief in this level of detail. DCS seems to lend itself very well to mid and late Cold War aircraft modules and the 105 definitely deserves to be immortalized along with the F-4E. Too bad Republic trashed all the research and records. It makes the e devour nearly impossible, since they can’t map out flight model and system behavior. Perhaps NASA has some research data that can be used from one of theirs? I can’t wait to see what’s next. The Mig-23 is another mid-late Cold War aircraft in development that will be a fantastic addition. I doubt will see it anytime soon, though. The F-100, A-1 Skyraider, and f-104 being in development makes one wonder about a Vietnam map down the road if new tech allows for it. Perhaps some Cold War assets and an A-4 Skyhawk? One can dream.
@@Supertrump.2024 The F-105D is the aircraft I most want for DCS, and least likely to happen. For those unaware, Republic (Fairchild) made the mindblowingly stupid decision to destroy ALL of Republics records and archive. Everything. From P-47 to F-105. Gone. Dumped in a landfill. Those records contained all the performance tests, diagrams, schematics, aerodynamic data and most importantly, the data for the F-105’s proprietary bomb computer. They don’t think it’s possible to make a high fidelity 105 without those documents. I’ve read that NASA documented a lot of their 105 and that perhaps those documents may be reachable to help, but, the weapons and specifically, that bomb computer are the challenge. Here’s to hoping they find a workaround. It’d be the perfect DCS plane. Big, fast, astounding payload, a detailed and very involved cockpit, a great gun and treetop speed performance.
Remarkable just Remarkable! ED need to be at this level but sadly that won’t ever happen. I wish my Hornet had a lot of the details shown. Really looking forward to the Navy Version. Outstanding boys !!
Wow this looks awesome, I was a F-4E WCS Weapons Control System technician 32172Q to be exact. From 1983 to 1989. The graphics look amazing in this simulation! I also hope they included the song "Radar Love" in the sound track because that was the theme song for the WCS career field.
My mind is blown about the attention to detail here, this is the ultimate fighter jet simulator fantasy. Alone the slow-motion vapor over the wings just give me chills. I was not sure I needed this, but now I need it now! (And oh my god, I'm looking forward to the A6 getting the Heatblur treatment).
This is why I love heatblur. Some people hate jester. I actually like him, he's a jerk, but he's MY jerk, and that idiot in the back seat has helped me down a lot of bears. Actually kind of upset me during a dogfight when he unexpectedly got strafed and died. It felt really weird flying home in total silence.

I got the F-14 Tomcat a few months ago and am in love with it. When I was in the USN aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 I can remember them covering the flight deck and hangar bays. Dozens of them. We had VF84 and VFA-41 (Jolly Rogers and Black Aces) and the plane captain for VF84 was in my bootcamp company and he would let me sit in the cockpit and look around. In DCS, the Jolly Rogers HiVis livery was the exact bird the CO flew off our deck. It looks so good! The wear/tear is just right, the soot from the engines, the grease on the landing struts...all right there. This looks as good or better. Really looking forward to it. Already downloaded the NATOPS!

One of the most beautiful trailers I've ever seen. Amazing job, Heatblur.
The amount of work they put into it is CRAZY
This is not a DCS-Module.
This is a celebration.
Holy moly....
Heatblur absolutely knocking it out of the ball park once again.
SUPER excited for the Phantom we all know and love!!!
Basically a huge GFY to the whole flight sim world. This is incredible detail. Amazing work!
one thing that would be cool is if there was trailers for all the different phantoms like the Kai, ICE, Kurnass and all the other variants.
pilot customization might not seem like a big deal to most people, but its HUGE for immersion when you spend so much time playing with friends and taking screenshots and videos. i can't be more excited for this
That would make even more sense if ED decided to make DCS more ArmA'esque and allowed for controllable avatars. Being the pilot and not the plane itself really makes for better immersion.
I think it would be cool to have a female model aswell so we could have a female rio if we wanted
I think it would be cool to have a female model aswell so we could have a female rio if we wanted
@@kingdomofvinland8827 ABSOLUTELY!! i actually wanted to say this, but for whatever reason, people get mad when you bring up women in video games...?? but like... i'm a woman and i want my character to be one too
@@wikikomoto I think the fan base would like a female wso/rio. If nothing else becomes of prez from project wingman.
Your commitment do this community is so much above and beyond. Thank you for all your hard work. This will be money well spent.
I was fortunate to work on the F4 Phantom Marines 6060 PR, I was in awe of it then, and still to this day. Looks impressive.... can't wait.
5:23 loved the focus on the "most important parts," Robin Olds would be proud of all of you. And I loved the Jester Special at 8:47
This is incredible. The amount of effort you have put into this module will change the entire game for the very much better.
This could be the most detailed and accurate simulation of an aircraft ever created for a flight sim. I am so hyped.
Awesome!
As a former F4 crew chief, I can honestly say, this is amazing!!!
Ok, you guys went above and beyond with this one. Wear and tear? RPG elements? Customizable Jester? Phantastic!
Amazing bringing in customized pilots into the mix
Thats an awesome touch...have really wished I could do this with my Hornet pilot
How else will you be able to strap on the mighty mustache!
5:26
Nice shout out to General Olds!
👍🏼
The first 3 minutes are just pure combat aviation glory! 😄
Making trailers has become an artform, really.
What would be the expected range for the radar, cant find much on it
@@mamo4731 Actual (not estimated) radar ranges are typically highly classified and because nobody bothered to file a FOIA request they probably never got around to declassifying it for the Phantom, or because there might be a couple allies who still operate it.
@@NuclearFalcon146 damn good answer boy
@@NuclearFalcon146 Actually there is more out there than you think, like noise figures, peak pulse power values etc.
The cockpit vibrations and vapors are just the best I have ever seen ! It s beautiful !!!!
God damm this is amazing guys.
You have outdoned everyone in the industry. This is not just a good module, its rising the bar with new cool features aswell.
Full price buy for sure. Congratulations!❤
Man, this is just next-level stuff. Congratulations Heatblur!
Hotkey for in cockpit manual learning and button infos is an absolut gamechanger for learning new modules.
In Heatblur we trust! You guys really go above and beyond for our satisfaction. I’m going to have so much fun in VR with this one.
Credit cards at the ready, pilots!
You’ve been spotted in the wild
You did it once again Heatblur, Bravo! It was an instant buy for me and I can’t wait to see some of the new things transfer over to the Tomcat! This has far exceeded my expectations for what would be included.
Well done Heatblur. I am not that interested in F4, but I'm buying it anyway to try it out and to support the amazing 3rd party devs, who not only deliver the module, but implement a ton of features around it. I wish one day these features will be translated into other modules in DCS, from F10 menu to instruction manual. Fantastic ideas you guys (and delivering it)!
The smiley face on the tail at 11:18 is really what sells it to me! :P
F-4E Phorever!!!!❤
PH-Phour-E Phoreva
@@danblauwal4524 Phucking Phabulous Ph-Phour-E Phantom Phipheever!
Always super impressed with how you guys not only bring in a high fidelity module but also how you push the platform as a whole. Looks fantastic
Pretty neat features regarding the in cockpit tutorial/manual and pilot customization. Hope this plays out well.
The extra stuff included with this module is amazing. On my way! To prepurchase
Oh man, the vapor flow, over the wing at 7:32 looks so damn good
My grandpa was a crew chief for the F-4 and he says he still remembers it all!
Heatblur always has something new to blow your mind. I love these guys and their passion!
I grew up 5 miles from the 147th ANG at Ellington AFB. The Phantom sites and sounds, and sometimes even smells, were part of my childhood. Thank you for building this.
This is the standard that needs to be met or exceeded by all other devs in this ecosystem. Congratulations on the fruit of all your hard work
Time to warm up the MiG-21 and Mirage F1, and start blasting Ghostbusters theme as I load up Enigmas cold war.
Ohhh.... I knew that this new ingame voicechat feature had a purpose, but didn't know which...Thanks for the tip! :P
have fun getting touched in naughty places by a sparrow travelling at mach 2 from 15 miles away
Imagine if we had a MIG-23 with the F1 and F-4
@@maximumvibe9355Crazygman would rip you a new one buddy
Now all we need is an F111, F105, and a B1 bomber with this level of detail.
The A-4 mod is already incredibly good, not heatblur standards but it is free!
The back seat is gonna be so much fun lol
My mind is blown about the attention to detail here, this is the ultimate fighter jet simulator fantasy. Alone the slow-motion vapor over the wings just give me chills. I was not sure I needed this, but now I need it now! (And oh my god, I'm looking forward to the A6 getting the Heatblur treatment).
We need this type of realism in the rest of the aircrafts.
Wow - what a surprise on a dull weekend. Going to end on a high for sure- can’t wait and with the improvements for VR in DCS 2.9 - it’s time to be alive. 😮😅
Heatblur NEVER disappoints!
Why am I re-watching this at 2:20 AM... It's that good. Thank you team Heatblur. The jungle awaits...
