I was talking to my chat about this today on stream, about how SC is one of the few games where you can simply, 'exist' in it. You don't have to always be doing anything at all. The act of moving around, going from hab to hangar, or just stacking boxes in your reclaimer. All of these little things that make you feel more a part of the world than most other games do. RDR2 does that, at times, too. That feeling that the world would just keep trucking on without you being there as the character, as if you're just one more cog in the machine. It's a nice change compared to the need for some games to constantly remind you at every turn, that you're the hero.
SC is special in so many ways. No other game I have played comes close to this level of immersion. Development is really starting to gain traction now too. Cant wait to see what updates 2024 brings!
Nice of you to share your impression of the scale of Star Citizen. I feel quite the same way. Small note though: Quantum travel is not faster than the speed of light. Even the fastest of the drives make only ~90% of it. It's only that Stanton is a very small system compared to the solar system, so travel times are tolerable.
It's funny, I still have friends who hear me say Star Citizen and say "Oh, that scam game that's just about buying pictures of spaceships that will never come out." This game is literally the thing that so many of us dreamed of having the ability to play when we were kids and thought was impossible. It got to the point where instead of trying to defend the game I just bought a second account and upgraded my old gaming laptop so when a friend tries to tell me it's a scam because Starfield was completed in half the time with a fraction of the budget I can sit them down, log them in and say "lets go explore a planet".
I love this approach, kill them with kindness. I think anyone seriously interested in space sim games can't deny that when the experience works, damn does it work. Some of the craziest emergent experiences have happened to me in this game, from stowing away on a huge C2 to kill a bounty target to having an argument in VoIP with someone on a train. Truly unique. Thanks for watching and commenting.
A lot of people still have this scam citizen mindset. Sadly I don't really know how to fix that... CIG really shot themselves in the foot by releasing terrible updates and making impossible promises way too often. Your approach of just buying friends an account is probably the easiest approach to sharing the experience and opening their eyes to the new mindset of the actual star citizen gameplay.
Great video, just a heads up however. The ships don’t fly faster than light speed. Generally ships fly a quarter of the speed of light. Best thing to do in Star Citizen is just pick a spot, fly there and see what happens. All the greatest adventures in this game are just so random.
Yes I love how huds are part of the helmets and ships. The stuff to do and travel. Graphics are great. I’d say yes SC has the potential to be very immersive like no other game. Though things that pull me out of it: - inventory system that’s buggy n not synching. Just frustrating and breaking gameplay of missions not being able to use items or reload or heal during fights. - items clipping, flipping, flailing, disappearing through the ground - NPCs acting weird and being on top of benches all of the time - missions being broken by main character not spawning etc
i dont know exaclty when you recorded this but watching it in sep2024, immersion is twice as that thanks to cargo. And will be even quadruple when engineering comes online
meh i dont see the immersion , especialy when you need to drive a tram but not able to walk trough the city . Not really the experience that would give me immersion .
I think I became an Excel master just by playing Eve and sitting at Jita. Probably could transition into the real life stock market without much trouble.

Yeah I agree completely. Going to be an exciting year!
Once those hangars come in ima spend a lot of time in between missions chillin in there

Ah thanks for the info! That's really interesting.
I think the fastest Quantum drives only give you about 20% of lightspeed. I think the Pyro system is supposed to twice the size of Stanton (or more).
Well,@@randlebrowne2048 the VK-00 does 283000 km/s and the speed of light in vacuum is 300000 km/s. So this one does more then 90% c even.
Your enthusiasm is infectious. :)

When you start living off of your ship, it really becomes eye-opening on how immersive the game is.
Ah I wanna try this so bad, I have the Cutlass so I should give it a go.

Thanks Steve! Thanks for the comment and dropping by to watch.
yes, youve got the right outlook :) see you in the verse o7

The inventory system is one of the (many) big things that is going to be going through major changes in the next big patch.

There is a immersion breaking thing, FPS :p
meh i dont see the immersion , especialy when you need to drive a tram but not able to walk trough the city . Not really the experience that would give me immersion .
What experience would you consider immersive in that sense then? Compared to something like Starfield, it doesn't even come close.
Eve does it better
I think I became an Excel master just by playing Eve and sitting at Jita. Probably could transition into the real life stock market without much trouble.
Eve... What a joke
@@rixxy9204 Yes, one of the longest running and successful MMOs in history is a joke. You're so right.
