@ViciDeum for whatever it's worth, I'll like to see a video series where you theory craft a fleet battle, fleet formations, and tactics. This could include setups for small 5-10 person orgs, all the way up to massive 1k+ orgs
The Perseus also has VTOL thrusters. IMO both are great ships, depending on how big your org./friends list and UEC you want to spend on fuel, supplies, armorment, repair ect. to have fun.
I have the Polaris, but that Perseus sure is a cool looking ship. Reminds me of the ww2 German pocket battleship Graf Spee. Im sure compared to the larger capital ships it will be more maneuverable.
With the Polaris being only 25$ on top of the price of a Perseus there was no second thought about which one i would go for. But i also like the overall look of the Polaris more than the Perseus (To each his own i suppose). Crew size might be an issue for some but since i am part of a 400+ member organization getting 11 additional crewmen doesnt give me any concerns. However the main reason i went for the Polaris is that it was designed as an answer to the vanduul attacks and being the latest addition to the UEE Navy leads me to believe it brings something to the table that the older ships couldn't provide otherwise the UEE wouldnt have contracted RSI to come up with a new designed tip of the spear for their fleet.
Take the dollar value of any ship with a truck load of salt, it has no correlation to the ingame value or gameplay offered. I went for the Perseus because 0 to 4 people is much more easy to get going than 10-20. Can't wait to help with somebody else's Polaris on specific events but that will be less than 0.5% of actual play time for me.
I see the polaris as a great multiplayer tool for large groups. For small groups or solo, the perseus will be a PVE workhorse for a fraction of the running costs and manpower. It's basically flying 4 Ares and a Gladiator at once with the advantage of armor and point defenses.
I completely agree! For most smaller-medium sized orgs the Perseus will probably be the better option, but the larger orgs with more money/crew can likely leverage the Polaris to better effect!
@@ViciDeum To better effect for what? Org warfare? Sure. Day to day NPC grind? probably not, too high of a running cost, also in terms of organization.
About on point, more or less. Some minor quibbles with stuff like manuverability, the Perseus is said to be slow. One key thing that was missed is sustainability. It'll take a LOT more resources to fly and keep a Polaris flying than a Persesus, but that's offset by the greater utility of the Polaris. Personally I own a Perseus but I've been SORELY tempted to get a Polaris as well, even though I have no idea how I'd crew it. LOL
Yea I'm really curious to see how the maneuverability of both end up. Since the Polaris is so much bigger, I still gave the advantage since they usually compare to ships of a similar size. But it might just be more nimble overall! And I agree, the sustain on the Polaris is a huge drawback; although it offers long-term living in turn! And congrats on your pickup! I've definitely eyed both ships but the Perseus has always stuck out to me; its like a bigger, badder Redeemer!
Me personally i have the perseus and i absolutely cannot wait for them to start working on it like they started working on the polaris haha. Hopefully soon enough theyll start work on the perseus. We need more larger combat ships in the game!
Only speculation but from the sound of things and the promotional art, it looks like the Perseus is so far the only ship the can modify ballistics loadout on the fly, I can't recall seeing this on the Javelin tour but in the promotional art for the Perseus you can see it's cannon ammo is exposed to the crew meaning you can change the ballistic type while you're out and about or mid combat, so you can start off with magnetic rounds to deplete the shields and then swap over to penetrator rounds to punch holes through the hull to destroy components.
It'll be really cool to see what they do with different types of ballistic ammo in game. And having the ability to adjust w/the Perseus on the fly could be a game changer!
The Polaris vs Perseus question, to me, is a matter of convenience. If I just want to go blasting with a couple of friends, the Perseus is perfect. If I want to go on an adventure into hostile territory or a long-term mission, or tool around with a larger group of friends, then I want the Polaris for all it's features. The Idris is simply too much ship unless it's your forever home or it belongs to an Org, where the Polaris has all the creature comforts without needing the same level of investment. They also compliment each other super well, with the Polaris having the toughness and raw firepower to brawl with larger ships, and win, and the Perseus has the speed and guns to cover the Polaris weak spots, deal with smaller problems like bombers, and evade larger ships if they try to focus on it. Combined with a heavy fighter out of the Polaris's landing bay, and it's a great do-all duo.
I hope they make it so you can hire an AI crew till ur ship blows up. They should stay in it when you store it and take it back out and the more skilled they are the more money they cost. That would make the game a lot more fun and realistic. There simply isn't enough players for everyone to have a screwed ship. And you could even customize your AIs clothes that would be way cool.
I completely agree, and really hope they incorporate NPC the way you describe! It would also be great if they could slowly get better at tasks and develop some personality quirks along the way!
@@watchoutbinzillazabout5960 Yeah a CCU from a released ship helps if the concept ship jumps in price like the BMM has done and will do. Look around IAE for a released ship even if you don't have it If it goes up you effectively are buying at the lower rate and if you decide you don't want it you can always exchange for store credit
Could you please let me know where did you find the info about Polaris having VTOL thrusters? I thought there won't be any. And if it has 2 medium hydrogen tanks it will be almost impossible to use this ship in atmosphere long enough without refueling.
Unfortunately I don't have my script notes on hand anymore, but most of this info came from the Q and A posts along with early concept convos. That said, (as with all concepts) the most recent CIG rework discussions/videos on the Polaris updates are the most accurate. But with everything in development, it's all subject to change!
@@ViciDeum completely fair, I ended up picking the Perseus for my fleet. Between operating costs and daily needs I felt it better to have a dedicated combat ship that could be operated with as few crew as possible.
i want both of em, but i will prob only get the perseus due to its much smaller crew requirement, there's no way id ever manage to crew up a polaris, I can barely get enough to crew a hammerhead. wish the perseus had a medbay, even if it was just a t3
@@ViciDeum I really really hope you’re right. I’m only second guessing it since the stats on their website are still showing 2 large shield generates. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve forgot to update their site.
Polaris requires double to triple the crew of the Perseus, not counting any fighters in its hangar. They actually have very similar roles on different scales. They both want to hit at or slightly above their weight classes.
Can't wait for multiple systems to stretch our legs in. I'm sure they haven't designed my favorite ship yet. I'm thinking Perseus with more utility. I don't know but I think the most fun I'll have is going to some surface somewhere, grabbing something important, and leaving. Captain Mal Reynolds meets Indiana Jones. It has to be big enough to make money but small enough to fit. My mental condition can be agonizing, lol...
Sounds like a Carrack, 6 crew maybe ... it has everything Serenity had except Carrack has turrets + extras like drones. If you want a smaller crew size, then Caterpillar 4 crew or Corsair/MSR/Connie (Taurus) and last but not least 400I.
I like your sentiment about your favorite ship not even being built yet, and I think that's so true; they're just getting so dang good with their new ship designs! Also I love the Malcolm Reynolds w/Indiana Jones reference, and the Perseus is one hell of a ship to galivant around the verse in!
I prefer the Perseus primarily due to my preference of guns over missiles (in space combat). IMHO, missiles could be badly affected by EWAR (I would expect any sensible ORG to protect their valuable assets with jammers, EWAR countermeasures and regular fighters) ... so overwhelming an opponent with torpedoes could be better achieved with a fleet of Eclipse bombers, than a Polaris. On the flip side though, the Polaris is essentially your flagship so it will likely lead flotillas providing medical facilities and tactical leadership. The Perseus, on the other hand, is a brawler. In lore, the UEES Achilles took down 2 Vanduul destroyers (while itself being damaged beyond repair). I don't expect that to happen in a straight fight and good tactics would have been key in that success but this happened in an age before shields. Hence, the Perseus (and similarly the Retaliator bomber) rely a lot on their tough hull, which can be a benefit for us. Coming back to EWAR, if jamming negates the use of torpedoes, or they get shot down by flak guns, you can rely on the Perseus' S7 cannons and API/HEI ammo to decimate the target. Yes, it will probably be smaller than its opponents but that's the fun part, isn't it. You have big guns, decent agility and can wreck things with your guns (until some PVP Chadius pilot gets hit in the face with that gun, complains and gets them nerfed).
I agree with your points and think that's why the Perseus is my preferred ship as well; keeping it simple and just slugging out with those massive size 7 cannons!
I can't really say how these are comparable beyond both being combat ships as they punch in completely different weight categories with different applications in mind within the sphere of combat. Between the two my choice is the Perseus all day long, as it suits my needs and the needs of my group far better than the Polaris. Yes, the Polaris has some incredible features and capabilities but for smaller outfits the Perseus is a better option, at least in my opinion.
Finally got back my Polaris (although i won't apply the CCU chain until it is in-game). Both ships are great, but I believe the comparison is a bit unfair. The Perseus is a large patrol boat, with large components and small crew design to operate within a fleet and has no amenity beside bunks and a mess hall. CIG also describe it as slow due to it's age and armor. The Polaris is a full blown capital ship designed from the ground up to operate alone on the frontier and act as flagship for militias. it has every amenities known to man, full capital componants, it's supposed to be fast (I'd wager at least as fast as a Carrack), Has not only capital ship busting S10 torpedoes, but double S7 chin mounted turret, and a flurry of S5 turrets around plus missiles batteries. Enough firepower to put BOTH a torpedo boat and a gunship to shame. and has a full size hangar with rearm and repair capabilities, Brig, Medbay, armory, POOL TABLE! But will require a much larger crew to operate. It is not only a combat ship, but used in humanitarian missions as well, cargo / suplies delivery, and S&R missions. It truly is an angry Carrack on steroids. Note on the Armor : People mention the Polaris LIGHT armor compared to the Perseus HEAVY armor, without mentioning the Polaris has a light CAPITAL class armor. It's like comparing a S4 weapon, which is the heaviest anti-fighter weapon, to S5, which is a light STS weapon. the S5, though "light" has double the damage of the S4 : largest jump by far between weapon size. Armor will be the same, and the Polaris armor will outclass the Perseus armor in every way, unless CIG mentioned the Perseus had a heavy CAPITAL armor and I wasn't aware of it.
Congrats on your Polaris pickup! And I agree these aren't quite comparable in every aspects, although their price point and intended role were the driving considerations for this comparison. But I think you make good points!
one thing i noticed that seemed to be off, the Polaris has light armor, while the perseus has heavy armor, which in turn would be more durable than the polaris armor wise.
Both are verry good patrollers. Although the polaris has a lot more use and is a lot more versitile. The persues should be able to handle everything up to the hammerhead and not much beyond that. While the polaris has its torpedoes to REALLY mess up a capital ship + it can carry a full on heavy fighter.
Now that’s my latest dilemma 😅🤣 Go power creep and maybe not very usefull ship or go smaller and more rational. Wait Polaris got medbay and hangar?! Dammit cig xD
Got tough choice between Perseus/Polaris and on another pledge BMM/odyssey. BMm kinda pointless but cool since I have a hull D Had 4 crush joining cig gang. Vanguard, genesis, hull C, Polaris. Then cig kept getting sexier and more appealing ship 🥲
@@ViciDeumperseus is for me just look. Function wise i barrly see it in later pu as it is super slow. But that look. Polaris was a day one buy (upgrade) and its more and more multirole and so it comes against my carrack and odyssey with more capabilities and more weaponised than explo. But its ability to sar, militia, little cargo runs with high value etc… make it a multitool. And then i have the odyssey… more eplo but love the trekkie vibe of misc. My galaxy beeing a size down, and using it like a caterpillar or hercule so far…. Its more gameplay focused and love the ability to swap module during my carrer and my needs
Thanks for watching! It's a bit harder with these concepts but I tried to predict as best I could. And thank you for all the amazing content you produce! You and Algared are such a blessing in this community and have been invaluable in helping me shape my fleet!
The Perseus seems like it would be strong against smaller (connie sized) ships, while the Polaris seems strong against larger ships while both could engage medium ships with the Polaris having the advantage. These would be ideal to anchor small fleets and would still be powerful in larger fleets. Throw a couple of ships that carry snub fighters or add a couple of Hammerheads and you've got a potent battlegroup.
I have both ships. The polaris will be my home and the Perseus will be my sword. I just can not wait for NPC crew to be here so they can take over from friends when they are offline.
I love it, and congrats on your pickups! You definitely don't want to bring your whole house with you into some conflicts, so the Perseus should serve you well in that regard!
You choose the much weaker ship as your sword? Polaris is home AND sword. it has a double S7 chin turrets, missiles, a flurry of double S5 turrets and 20 S10 torpedoes. There is nothing the Perseus can to against a Polaris, and the Polaris, while yes requires more crew, is completely designed to be a force of it's own alone and in a fleet. Perseus is a sitting duck if not escorted.
@@captainharlock3998 Very true!! I hope to keep them both fully crewed and working in harmony together so one ship can pick up the slack of the other should any other fleets try to engage me in combat. The extra backup in combat will work to my advantage.
Ppl are sleeping on the Perseus’s hull health that ship was built before shields existed lore wise, it was notorious for having a great deal of armor, Also the Perseus took out two vanduul destroyers.
unfortunately you wont be able to blade the turrets on the perseus, only remote turrets can be bladed if you have enough computers on the ship free for it
Finding two players to man the two main S7 guns is no problem whether among strangers looking for multicrew fun on a server, or friends within a decent-sized org. The Perseus is going to shred the living hell out of critical threat NPC ships, and the navy battles between players with it and the Polaris will be epic. The remote turrets are underpowered, I think. They should both have S5 guns on them like on the Redeemer, or S4 at the very least.
I purchased and am waiting for my Perseus. I just love the look of a proper miniaturized battleship. I know I’m going to get into a lot of shenanigans with it.😊
I think the comparison is a bit on the unfair side, as the Polaris is a Capital ship, albeit one of, if not the smallest. A more fair comparison would be, I think, between the Perseus and the Hammerhead, as they are of comparable size and are both gun-turret centric designs. The difference lies in their chosen prey. The Hammerhead is meant to screen against fighters, where as the Perseus is more focused against other gunships (yes, Perseus is listed as a Frigate, but it seems more appropriate to think of it as a gun boat). Some might say that it is unfair to compare even these two, since the Perseus is basically purpose built to defeat Hammerheads, but this isn't a who-would-win sorta match up. Then again, this is just my two cents.
I can't wait for my Polaris, Polaris is prob the best forward base for a small group of friends, it has a landing pad, a medbay, a ton of bunkibeds and enough weapons to bite back or bite hard on enemies.
Congrats on your pickup, the Polaris is one hell of a ship! I think the only thing saving me is the fact our that Org has a half dozen already; and even then its tempting! But the Perseus is pretty enticing for me as well. It honestly reminds me of an even bigger more formidable Redeemer, and I love that ship! God help our wallets haha
@@ViciDeum I still think the perseus is still to much defenseless to small ships, 2 turrets aren't nearly enough and the bottom one is basicaly useless, wait and see
It should be added that the Polaris can be considered a brawler against those ships the Perseus is brawling with. Hit and run mindset for the Polaris only applies to enemies that are bigger than itself. Against those types of enemies the Perseus would be well advised to also apply hit and run tactics as it doesnt have capital ship armor or shields.
@@aeroshot-sk8qt if I remember correctly the perseus have shield one size smaller thant the polaris but an heavier armor, also it's wayyyyyy slower (problably the weight of all the armor)
@@kira68200 The Perseus has heavy sub capital armor but the Polaris comes with light capital ship armor underneath the capital shield. The light capital armor is going to be several times stronger than even the heaviest sub capital ship armor as some devs have pointed out that there will be a gap between the stats of anything non capital compared to capital ship components. You can see this at the shield components already. The heaviest sub capital size 3 shield got 115k health points while the next size 4 shield is a capital ship component and got a massive 774k health point pool. Expect similar results with the armor once it gets added into the game.
i have the polaris and really am looking forward to it entering the game. i think this ship will be devastating. also have sabre and a scorpius, thinking the scorpius would be better to take to a fight.
The Percy is a one trick pony that is relegated to the niche use of fleet action because of its inability to operate alone. The Polaris is capable of long range solo patrolling and can be effective against almost anything. Albeit at higher running costs and rearmament with those massive torpedos
I still dont see a point in comparing these two ships. They are completely different ships types and only thing is a same is RSI manuf. 🤷🏽♂️. Perseus is more like category of hammerhead and the Nautilus. Polaris is a completely different ship. Change my mind.
While the Polaris is definitely larger and more complicated to run, but both are sub 200 meter (atm) war ships! I'd say the Perseus, Polaris, Nautilus and Hammerhead are one class, with the Idris, Javelin and Bengal another entirely!
@@ViciDeum But the Polaris has capital shields, armor, powerplant and coolers... Nautilus, Perseus and Hammerhead doesnt come with any capital sized component. Sub 200 meters or not the Polaris plays in another league.
Man these comparisons are way off. Would you compare the Hammerhead to the Polaris? Then why would you compare these two? Two different ships, different size, different class, different roles, they are so so not alike. One is a capital known to kill capitals the other is a sub capital known to kill other sub capitals.
Polaris: cap shield, hanger, multiple small turrets(including missile) for smaller targets, size ten torps for bigger ones Persues: 4 big guns and 4 small ones...thats it - bad matchup
Why is the Perseus always compared to the Polaris, it is such an unfair comparison. The Polaris is an order of magnitude above the Perseus as it is a full blown capitol ship able to do most things whose closest competitor is the Idris above it. The Perseus is a fantastic large ship but rather more limited in its scope and abilities. If you want to do a truly fair comparison the Hammerhead is a much closer analogue to the Perseus and fairer comparison.
I think they often get pitted against one another due to the nature of these ships being as expensive as they are. And a lot of people like to see a comparison to sort out for themselves which ship is best for them!
@ViciDeum price is only similar now, it is $25 more expensive than the Hammerhead was at concept and I personally think it will get the exact same $75 increase when it goes flight ready making it $750. Yes, that is the same as the Polaris but the Polaris is going to sky rocket in price as the work on it like the Carrack and BMM have. You look at the facilities and components the Perseus and Polaris have and it isn't even fair while other than armament the Perseus and Hammerhead are very close. They are similar in size and have near enough the same components load out. I'm a massive fan of the Perseus and it's one of my favourite ships, but I think it is incredibly disingenuous to compare it to something like the Polaris, it's the same as comparing the polaris to the Idris, two ships that are on completely different levels
First, the Polaris has light armour. No where near the Perseus. Second, and the biggest issue here that isn’t considered…. Yeah, the Polaris is probably “better”. BUT here’s the big “but”. How many Hammerheads you see currently out there. I can’t remember seeing any in 6 months. Know why?? Crew. It’s really rare to get 7 people together on one ship. You need 3 for a Perseus. A pilot and 2 gunners, and the 2 small turrets are AI controlled. That’s gonna tell you what yer gonna see. It’s also why the Galaxy is gonna be popular. You need MINIMUM 6 for the Polaris. Full compliment is 14!!! And you still need a pilot for the fighter! That’s dumb. And it’s why as a Perseus, if I see a Polaris that’s an issue…. I’ll rush it knowing it’s gotta run, and then the torpedoes are pointed away, and if it doesn’t and I do get close, minimum range to launch is a major issue. ALSO: I’ve seen ZERO content creators note this, but what’s the range on the S7 guns on the Perseus? If they’re the same as the Ares it’s 8km. Maybe it’s more?? That could make it tough on the Polaris or any other capital. Perseus all the way. I may be wrong…. But I can find 2 buddies. Can you find 7??
Those are fair points, and underpin some of the bigger issues in SC; getting crew for the positions! Based on how many players need crew for their ships, I suspect CIG will make NPC crew a very integral part of the game in the future. Otherwise very few people will fly very few ships!
@@ViciDeumAgreed. NPC crew or blades are gonna be required. And it may alleviate some issues. Of course they’ll just stand on the benches in the ship anyway. 😂😂😂😂 Party on man. Great channel.
Light capital armor is several magnitudes stronger than the heaviest sub capital armor which the Perseus gonna have. Having said this engaging a Polaris with a Perseus is a suicide run. The size 7 of the Ares also doesn't hit targets 8km away... Those torpedoes on the other hand can fly much further than that not to mention you would face 10 size 5 guns when the pointy end of the Polaris turns in your direction.
To be honest, they can already give you npc crew for turrets like in npc ships you steal or even invisible crew, just having the turret controlled by ai. It's just they want to give you crew that can run everywhere in the ship, do different task, even having their own agenda. But in theory they can already put npc crew stuck at some turrets. I have a polaris and it will be release first before perseus. but perseus looks really cool. I just dont really like the way they design the main bridge in the polaris. Puting the bridge at the nose for a capital ship the way they designed it looks a bit strange. It should be positionned like the idris or the perseus on the top middle of the ship.
The Polaris has a light CAPITAL CLASS armor. It's like comparing a S4 weapon, which is the heaviest anti-fighter weapon, to S5, which is a light STS weapon. the S5, though "light" has double the damage of the S4 : largest jump by far between weapon size. Armor will be the same, and the Polaris armor will outclass the Perseus armor in every way.
I don't understand how you gave Polaris better weapon and durability scores, when it has worse weapons and less shields and less armor, and on top of that Perseus' has all of it's components located in places where they are more protected. But what gives when someone just randomly scores stuff.
These reviews sometimes show how littke research you pit into these ships. Im guessing you looked at their "stats" of RSI without paying any heed to the many video and text detailed concept evolutions of these ships. You keep mentioning features and ballances to these ships that are inaccurate, sometimes so much so that tbey are the exact inverse of published statements. For only 1 such example you KEEP reversing which one is actually slow and armored vs light and maneuverable, tbe Perseus is slow, lumbering, and HEAVILLY armored for a ship of its class. Meanwhile the Polaris is only lightly armored so as to ensure maximum speed and maneuverability for hit and run engagments placing it as one of if not the most spped and maneuvering of any ship its size. It might be worth putting out a revised version of this video, especially as the Polaris finalized rework raised the size of its guns, internal stowage, added definition to its suspected medical and bounty hunting support, and increased the size of its Hangar to match modern metrics for Heavy Fighters its meant to support. Heck, you can make it a trilogy once the Perseus finalized rework comes out too! People live a good trilogy ;)
I’ll likely revisit these two after release. It’s always difficult with concept ships to determine how they’ll actually perform. While the Perseus is slower for a ship of its class, it’ll likely be faster than the Polaris given how large that ship is. But with all things in development, it’s a continuous iterative process and we’ll just have to wait and see!
Beside look, the Polaris outclasses the Perseus in every way. Capital class light armor will be much stronger than "normal" heavy armor, it'll be faster, has every amenity known to man, can deal with lighter threats on it's own, has S7 turret AND S10 torpedoes. Perseus has an advantage on crew count and look, but that's subjective. It's not being biased : it's being realistic. To be fait the comparaison is an unfair one. A patrol boat designed to operate within a fleet compared to a full capital ship with full capital componants designed to operate as well alone as in the vanguard of a fleet. It's like comparing the Cutter to the Constellation.
The Polaris has been confirmed in recent SC videos to in fact have a capital ship! The stat page on the website is notoriously out of date if you’re referencing that!
Since they are focusing in the production of the polaris for months, grey box and made it a priority to developp the galaxy and perseus then, i guess you are wrong.
The Perseus is the best looking ship in the game, in my opinion. For that reason alone, I prefer the Perseus over the Polaris.

Those are excellent points for both and will definitely depend on which you’d prefer to use or need for a particular mission!
Those are excellent points for both and will definitely depend on which you’d prefer to use or need for a particular mission!
Not sure if we can put them as VS considering their size and crew difference.
That's fair, the Perseus definitely takes a lot less crew to run!
@@ViciDeum You could probably run 4 Perseus against one Polaris if we go by average crew size.
I neeeeeed that Perseus! I fell in love with it the first time i saw it
It's such a great looking ship, and only getting even better with updates!
I got a Hammerhead to Polaris CCU for $22.50 at the last IAE - This protects against any increases in price when launched.
i had the chance to get one from a perseus a while back for £30 gutted i didnt pick it up when i had the chance.
Congrats on that CCU, that's a fantastic way to lock-in the price!
My answer is both lol. With that settled I’d be curious on your thoughts and the community on a BMM vs Polaris video.
If you've got the funds, its a great choice! And the Polaris vs BMM would make a great matchup too!
I think the Perseus just makes more sense in a lot of encounters, as its smaller and should be easier/cheaper to run!
I’m confused. Doesn’t the Polaris come with 2 Large shield generators?
Initially, but it’s since been upgraded to a capital shield generator!
@@jedi_drifter2988 best ship in the verse. So far!
I like your sentiment about your favorite ship not even being built yet, and I think that's so true; they're just getting so dang good with their new ship designs! Also I love the Malcolm Reynolds w/Indiana Jones reference, and the Perseus is one hell of a ship to galivant around the verse in!
@@ViciDeum Can you say Aegis Bearcat? It beat the City Black for that contract. I bet it's right up my alley. Someday.
I can't wait to walk through my Polaris - have been waiting for almost 9 years now..
I can't believe how close its gotten to release! And congrats on your pickup!
They're both large combat ships in a similar price point, albeit with different uses, but awesome in their own rights!
I have been trying to find the name of the opening ost in this video for soooo long, what is it?
It’s the 600i soundtrack, “A Symphony in Motion” 😁👍
That's a good point! I'm really curious how both these shape up in the end with their armor values; and that impact overall!
is it weird that I want to make a Star Citizen live action web series with you as the lead?
You’re too kind! And not weird at all, I can dig it 😎!
I agree, and when crewed the Polaris will be a beast in game!
Now that’s my latest dilemma 😅🤣
Go power creep and maybe not very usefull ship or go smaller and more rational. Wait Polaris got medbay and hangar?! Dammit cig xD
Got tough choice between Perseus/Polaris and on another pledge BMM/odyssey.
BMm kinda pointless but cool since I have a hull D
Had 4 crush joining cig gang. Vanguard, genesis, hull C, Polaris. Then cig kept getting sexier and more appealing ship 🥲
They definitely make it hard, both are fantastic ships in their own right!
@DrinkersWithGamingProblems I think he was pretty fair, what you think Badgers? Exe

@@ViciDeum Thanks for the kind words, glad to assist. Keep up your own fine work mate. Exe
Cant wait for my polaris. It was a hard pick. But Polaris came out on top.
Congrats on your Polaris pickup! It's just got so much utility, it's hard to go wrong with it!
Cost of crew, cost of maintenance, cost of rearm/refuel, speed of going places. They will both have very different use cases.
I agree, and both offer tradeoffs to their combat coverage, or unique complements when paired!
It’s going to be an absolute beast! People are definitely sleeping on its strong armor!
I have the polaris but damn the Perseus definitely looks the coolest.
Out of all the space Doritos, it's my favorite!
unfortunately you wont be able to blade the turrets on the perseus, only remote turrets can be bladed if you have enough computers on the ship free for it
Finding two players to man the two main S7 guns is no problem whether among strangers looking for multicrew fun on a server, or friends within a decent-sized org. The Perseus is going to shred the living hell out of critical threat NPC ships, and the navy battles between players with it and the Polaris will be epic. The remote turrets are underpowered, I think. They should both have S5 guns on them like on the Redeemer, or S4 at the very least.
They've mentioned that all turrets (both remote and manned) can be bladed, but it's all speculative until we get server blades in game!
I purchased and am waiting for my Perseus. I just love the look of a proper miniaturized battleship. I know I’m going to get into a lot of shenanigans with it.😊
A space dorito for the galaxy to fear! The Perseus is such an awesome gunship, congrats on your pickup!
I think those are fair points and the Perseus is probably more akin to the Hammerhead in pure function!
@@ViciDeum Still, I found the video to be informative and well thought out, keep up the good work!
Don't buy unless fly ready... unless you are really rich and don't care about the long wait release date and possibility.
Hahaha, very fair! Both these ships are likely still a while out from their in-game release!
I have polaris the point is to find soneone to unite and create a fleet together polaris and precious together is even better
Why not both? :)
Always a good answer haha!
the only VS's where i have to own both of these beasts, they're just to badass.
They're both great ships, and I'm sure they'll serve you well!
I am all in for the Polaris.
It's an awesome ship!
I can't wait for my Polaris, Polaris is prob the best forward base for a small group of friends, it has a landing pad, a medbay, a ton of bunkibeds and enough weapons to bite back or bite hard on enemies.
Congrats on your pickup! The Polaris is shaping up to be an incredible ship, I can't wait to see it in the verse!
Got the Polaris. Looking at also getting the Perseus... Just need to convince myself. Lol
God help our wallets haha
polaris : fast powerful torpedo ship with a hit and run mindset
perseus : slow armored brawler with emphasis on its big guns and heavy armor
A perfect synopsis!
The Polaris is Mastery in Motion 2/5 - you must work in Marketing and PR! nice
Just an enthusiast haha. Its impossible not to appreciate the awesome work they do on these ships!
Polaris all day! I like being able to fire off a single sessions profits in a single salvo!
Hahaha, nothing like dropping 100k in torps but getting to watch all your enemies turn to dust!
i have the polaris and really am looking forward to it entering the game. i think this ship will be devastating. also have sabre and a scorpius, thinking the scorpius would be better to take to a fight.
Congrats on your pickup! The Polaris really is a devastating ship, and I'm sure it'll serve you well out in the verse!
The Percy is a one trick pony that is relegated to the niche use of fleet action because of its inability to operate alone.
The Polaris is capable of long range solo patrolling and can be effective against almost anything. Albeit at higher running costs and rearmament with those massive torpedos
It'll be interesting to see them both in the verse, but those are pretty accurate synopsis from what we know atm!
Why not both? 🤷🏼♂️
When in doubt haha, the tried and true answer!
The Polaris is my "EndGame" Goal so far!
It's panning out to be a fantastic end game ship!
Perseus ❤
It's like a Redeemer on steroids haha, I love it!
Man these comparisons are way off. Would you compare the Hammerhead to the Polaris? Then why would you compare these two? Two different ships, different size, different class, different roles, they are so so not alike. One is a capital known to kill capitals the other is a sub capital known to kill other sub capitals.
They're both warships, albeit with different roles in combat!
Polaris: cap shield, hanger, multiple small turrets(including missile) for smaller targets, size ten torps for bigger ones Persues: 4 big guns and 4 small ones...thats it - bad matchup
I think they both occupy a similar class alongside the Nautilus and Hammerhead. The Perseus also has much smaller crew requirements!
Good writing!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed this!
In the end it always comes to who's cheaper
The Perseus is definitely cheaper to run and purchase!
So the thing is both I have the Perseus and my friend has the Polaris so ya
A formidable duo!
Armor will be the same, and the Polaris armor will outclass the Perseus armor in every way.
both great ships
They really are!
Im a Perseus ower
Congrats on your pickup, the Perseus is an amazing ship!
I don't understand how you gave Polaris better weapon and durability scores, when it has worse weapons and less shields and less armor, and on top of that Perseus' has all of it's components located in places where they are more protected. But what gives when someone just randomly scores stuff.
While strong, the massive torps, missiles and turret defense systems outweighed the Perseus in my opinion.
@@ViciDeum fair enough, i look forward to your post release coverage then!
Thinking of upgrading my Merchantman to one of these
I’d grab a CCU and just see how all the ships end up!
first, you need a crew
While you can use blades, you'll still need a whole lot of friends (or NPC) with the Polaris!
I decided I should probably have both.
So...
Congrats on your pickups, nothing wrong with getting both 👍!
Perseus just sounds more fun
With those pilot weapons, absolutely!
I think you are biased to Polaris!! 😂
It's a fantastic ship! But honestly I'm more pulled to pickup the Perseus!
Perseus is most likely what I would go with solo, but the Polaris...
Agreed, the Perseus is the ship you take when you want to throw down in a fight with a few friends. But the Polaris is like a lifestyle!
Polaris is the Way
It's a fantastic ship!
Polaris.
A fantastic choice!
4.0 had better rock.
I hope so too!
The polaris doesnt have a capital shield!
The Polaris has been confirmed in recent SC videos to in fact have a capital ship! The stat page on the website is notoriously out of date if you’re referencing that!
Yes, it is confirmed to have complete capital components, including capital shields.
