His analysis of the economic impact on generations over the years who lost wealth because of white society stealing it (as we did with native Americans as well) and denying the theft was well-made and thorough. It is obvious that there should be reparations, not that I think it will happen. (I believe that John Oliver addressed this as well.). As much as I would like to see these defense lawyers disbarred it is not a disbarrable offense. He is allowed to bring up any concerns he has with the judge without the jury president. If he had started doing it in front of the jury then he could possibly be disbarred. Depending on his history. Mostly he would get a reprimand and a warning to clean up his act or face disbarment. Unless they change the rules this conduct, no matter how reprehensible, is legal. But you don't want the rules changed because once you go down that road of limiting what attorney's can discuss with the judge, it will only get worse for everyone.
The defense just wants to say..."listen, during my lifetime, lynchings were legal. Why are we acting like we should punish a white man for killing a black man?"
To be fair to them, what else were they going to do? They had _no_ case - racism was literally their only defense here. In most cases like this one it probably works too...

@Tisk Tisk The cameras showed he never touched or took anything, he just looked around. The property owner said his cameras had seen others had done the same. Merely being on a property is not automatically a criminal offense. Technically under Georgia law what Mr. Aubery did by going into the construction was not criminal trespassing unless the property owner specifically either told him not to come on the property or have signs indicating no trespassing. If the police had been called, they would have simply told Mr. Aubery to stay off the property. Also the defendants never actually saw Mr. Aubery on the property, they pursued him only because they saw him running through the neighborhood and believed he fit the description of someone who supposedly had been committing crimes in the area recently. I say "supposedly" because the local police had no reports of such crimes having taken place. There was absolutely no legal reason or justification for the defendants to attempt a so called "citizen's arrest."
@Tisk Tisk Sorry Bubba, you, listed a _bunch of things,_ that *are NOT* stealing! @Charles Rezac, I asked that same question on a video from Roland Martin Unfiltered! I really believe that is what this so-called defense attorney is angling for. Racists of a feather, flock together, and this "defense attorney" seems to not care about how he looks as long as his client gets off in any way possible.
Defense attorneys (and I am not trying to excuse these particular lawyers) will try any tactic to get a favorable outcome for their clients. They have clearly made a calculation about this. The tactic is obvious, which doesn't mean that it could not succeed. Basically that the presence of high profile black pastors will sway public perception of the trial. Yes, it's cynical, but that is how the legal system is set out: adversarial. Our children see it too, and unless we come together creating our own system of Governance, our great grand babies will experience this.
@@deloresvickers8388 I believe it was Robert Reich who made the case for reparations that I remember. His analysis of the economic impact on generations over the years who lost wealth because of white society stealing it (as we did with native Americans as well) and denying the theft was well-made and thorough. It is obvious that there should be reparations, not that I think it will happen. (I believe that John Oliver addressed this as well.). My hope now is that we rework our society and economy to benefit everyone significantly, (ideally with a UBI- universal basic income-), and if that means adding extra wealth for people of color, so be it.

His stoicism, legal knowledge and sense of fairness, fair play and justice is just exemplary and unquestionable. He is a credit to himself, his court and dare I say it, to his parents.
Can anyone explain how sharpton and jackson would sway a white jury?
Black privilege duh I'm sorry I couldn't even say with a straight face either LOL
Lol haha
Maybe give the jurors mean face -_- lol😅
No way they can unless the jury has a heart. No racist juror.
That part!!! He's in bad health can barely walk alone, just not to long ago got out of the hospital, but we suppose to be he'll intimidate members of the jury.🙄 right.
That's the first time I've seen Arbery's shirt. Jesus Christ... it appears there are three separate entry wounds, all at point blank range. Three! From a pump action shotgun! Do you understand the presence of mind one has to have to unload three rounds of buckshot into someone?? And cycle the weapon??
I had to google to understand what cycling a weapon means. What does that mean for the weapon used in this case?
You need to pull left hand back after every shot? Serious question not trolling here.
thanks...greetings from the Netherlands
@@dyantebrinke6477 No worries. You're exactly right. The weapon used looks like a Remington 870 hardwood home defense shotgun. Pump action shotguns require manual "cocking" of the foregrip to "cycle the action", like you might see in an action movie. This means that the shooter, Travis McMichael, had to make a conscious effort to fire the weapon cock it, fire again, cock it, and fire again.
@@bakedAK85 woww....than you made an excellent point....if the prosecutor is good at his job he will certainly use this argument
They AMBUSHED Armaud & then murdered him.
These two reporters have NO interest in the fact that a mother has lost her child in the most horrific way imaginable.
If these guys are guilty, SURE!
Let them burn!
If they really murdered this guy.
But have all of YOU seen and heard ALL of the evidence?
Is THIS the kind of America you WANT?
CNN is telling you what to believe before the trial is even over!
Did you even LISTEN to how this so-called journalist described the incident?
Our NATIONAL NEWS MEDIA!
Look at the smirk on her face! She has ZERO interest in Arbery or his poor mother.
ALL she wants is to burn some people she sees as TRUMP.
They are USING you all as tools.
God help us.
There are just no words for the despicable behavior of the defense in this case. I'm not easily shocked, but this left me speechless.
That judge has much more patience than I do! Bless him
"Your honor, I would like all people in the room who have a direct relationship with God to leave the room while my client swears on the bible."
This is some Bullshit!
"But only if they're black. Might sway the jury."
😂
@@xxxentbrandonredhoodrobins7606 If any of those 3 put their hands on a Bible, I will be highly surprised, and also should that happen I would expect the Bible to catch fire.
White pastors are 👌 not black ones apparently.
Not a fan of Jackson, but he has as much right to be there as anyone. The defense attorney isn't very bright.
Right. Liking a spectator in gallery or not is completely irrelevant.
They shot a guy who was walking away they started the attack just like Rittenhouse
Yup, and sadly one walked...this one seems like a sealed deal though for guilty
This is INSANE as long as the pastors comply and sit there it is their right to be there as a public citizen. They are not bothering anyone and the judge has maintained a tight court room. The audacity for the defense to DICTATE to the judge how he should run his court room by hand picking who can stay and go is obscene. The defense is desperate.
Desperate and shellshocked that this Country is changing right before he and his clients eyes... His language is firm in his beliefs'. #shameful
Reminds me so much of the killing of James Byrd. Hunted and killed by racists. So sad and terrifying.
Rest in Peace Amhaud Arbery
And Justice for you and your family!
Yes didn’t think about that but yes it is similar
I'm from near Jasper, TX., and that case was different in that Byrd was never accused or suspected of any crime - it was racism, plain and simple. The killers knew him. It was sad and terrifying, but also amazing in that the local paper did not attempt to "hide" the story - they put it out front and center to show they condemned it. All were convicted and two have been executed - the 3rd was simply driving the truck and could make a case that he didn't know what was coming, though I believe he's still in prison. The MOST amazing thing was the Jasper bank marquee reading "America, pray for us...." I cried over that, as an older white woman who grew up with racism in the south and hated it. We have made so much progress. This is more. Glory be.
Yes
@@pamelaleigh4225 we haven't made the progress you might think. They got better at hiding it. Black skin, hair, mannerisms, clothing has always been criminalized in this country. The difference is now it's being constantly recorded. It takes people such as yourself to lend your voice through letter writing, protesting, shining light and asking the difficult questions to put an end to this barbarism and the inhumane treatment of some of its citizens. Fight through your vote, hold your representatives to a higher level and make them accountable for when they fall short. Work today to make the small changes tomorrow.
It's never ever wise to attack the presence of religious figures who are there to support. This is not a good lawyer!
lol those guys? religious figures? good one. funny story about al sharpton, in the 80s, the mafia wanted to do some sports deals with the black community so the goto guy was sharpton for that, to connect them with some fo the big sports guys, and they started using him for other stuff, like to picket businesses that the mafia needed to make inroads with, so they contacted sharpton, who said " you give me such and such dollars, and i will have two busloads of n words there on monday, picketing outside that business." Those were sharptons words, so yeah, a real person of the black community. lol. all he sees is green. Feel free to look up the interview with michael franzese, good interview.
@@magnetarattractions278 My point is to not be heard publically attacking the "perception" of a religious person.
Im actually dazed it was an issue…
I wish this Judge was working a second shift in Kenosha
No mother should have to hear how [these] monsters hunted down their boy. My heart goes out to her and his family.
Sometimes you can just look at a guy and know he probably uses the 'N' word a lot.
The term is Negro it’s on the dictionary and the President uses the term regularly 😂😂

@UCc2081xE5gi6xuh3Ahmal4w you are a bigot... Fact.
"My clients aren't racist, but could you please ask these black people to leave?"
It's been my experience, as an old white woman, I'll refer to the late James Baldwin; " I hear what you say, but I see what you do". I'm not a racist usually means you are.
Rittenhouse judge could take a lesson
I love how the judge handled this trial.
Jesus. This is actually allowed in a court of law. 🤦
if the defendants were smart they would fire their attorney, he's digging them a deeper hole
I agree but Evidently they arent smart. They wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place if they were.

At least they didn't decide to represent themselves.
@@gwenwalravens8030 good point, would have been worse
This really shows how little defence they got, if the only thing the attorney can do is to attack pastors for just being there.
Senator Warnock should use this Defense attorney’s screed in his next campaign
What influence does the defense think the mostly white jury bears on this case?
@@Allthatandmo exactly!!!
It would be hilarious if Warnock showed up today.....
The younger blonde lawyer sitting to the right to the Defense attorney looks so mortified, especially at 2:07. I hope she finds a better boss after honestly lmao.
Southern backwater hate on full display.
This trial has been a light shining on the racism & white privilege that is so taken for granted in Georgia.
I moved to Augusta to work, & the black/white divide & mistrust was shocking to me- & I grew up in Arkansas! I left after 8 months & returned to south east Missouri- a Red state with its own problems, but absolutely chill in comparison.
Will there ever be an awakening, an awareness, of the waste & lives destroyed by white fear & distrust?
@William Scott
If you are living in America, if you were raised in the south, if you have lived and worked in Europe & Asia & Central America as I have, you can see it plain as day, every day in the US.
So, yes.
And so have you, Sir.
@William Scott I didn’t delete anything you wrote.
I think I was snarky & edited my response, which was still snarky.
If I were speaking face to face we would speak & then listen.

Please review the postings & you should find they’re all there.

They’re both on my mind, & you are right.
I think of my own son & how he might have been caught in some similar horror.
Both these trials are tragic outcomes.
It’s hard to feel compassion but when I can, if humanizes me as well.
Hard times
It’s hard to believe this blatant murder is even wasting the court’s resources.
Well Rittenhouse is on trial for murder in a clear self defense case. The rot is deep.
Very beautiful woman. Sad and sorry for her loss.
I have so much respect for this Judge.
That defense attorney lost the case with his attitude. If that was my attorney i would of change him already.
Not if you're racist & agree with your lawyer's approach
I do not understand why nobody at the defense table stood up and walked out the courtroom.
That remark was worth my job.
The lady in the grey at 1:50 was on his team and you could tell she was disgusted that she's forever tied to those comments. What the other lawyers should have done is got up and said we don't agree with that lawyer and anyone can sit in the gallery and witness the trial as is their right to do so. That would've at the very least given them some semblance of decency.
