Honestly this story is so scary familiar. Itโs honestly so horrid how this happens so often. My siblings just told me yesterday, that the principal at my old school was caught for embezzlement. And oddly enough my sister complained how the computers were old and broken even though they were supposed to get funding for the program.

I hate it when people say this , not to offend u but people like this have some dirt on others or cant afford to speak up. But this might be wrong and is highly influenced by my background
It comes down to thr bystander effect. People all assume someone else will help. People do better if they know who is supposed to do what. Everyone knows the principle sucks but what do you say when they could screw up your grade. At the beginning he makes it clear the principle must have given better grades to get the computer money why wouldn't he make your grades worse for talking out?

@@mrarroyo1990 it did say in the story that the evil kid and principle was booed when the scholarship was announced, but also sounds like the only one that could obtain the hard evidence to do anything about it was the OP. I wouldn't attribute this one to the bystander effect, as that scenario is people not helping when they have the ability to. I.e. Witnessing a car crash, but no one checking to see if people are ok or making the 911 call.
@@Nareimooncatt I see your point the main reason I do Attribute it is that if more then 2 people went to the superintendent and said "this is wrong OP did the help over spring break" it would quickly become obvious. Yes they booed but no one took the next step because even though it's obvious no one wants to be the first to make that step because it's personal and not group oriented. So the inability to move from a group mindset to a personal mindset is why a put this into he bystand effect. Like the bystand effect if 1 person stood up and said, "everyone make a complaint to the superintendent," people would line up and the OPs problem would be solved as they would do an investigation and very easily prove it by asking the previous teacher what student helped her.

I don't think OP went to far. The kid had a chance to escape with minimal charges, those being felony theft and evidence tampering. But instead he attacked the OP in public, and in front of other people who he stole from. The kid going away for 10 years did it to himself. And OP didn't do it simply over a stolen scholarship, but also over the stolen valor of OP practically saving the school.

The principal and kid both committed serious crimes. OP may have felt that it was revenge, but in reality, it was the closest thing to justice we can expect to see in today's world. He just did a better job at the police work than the police.
